WHO WE ARE
Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkpYpWfEK5s. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Millions of people rely on Notion to do their most important work, and protecting that trust is foundational to everything we build.
We’re looking for a hands-on Detection Engineer to build and operate the systems and workflows we use to detect and respond to attacks across Notion’s cloud-native environment. You’ll ship high-signal detections, improve the platform that powers them, participate in incident response, and help shape how detection and response engineering scales at Notion.
You’ll work closely with Engineering, Corporate Security, and Infrastructure, with broad latitude to identify gaps, prioritize investments, and build what’s needed next.
We view detection and response as a software engineering discipline: detections are code, platforms are products, and measurement matters
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE
- Build and tune high-signal detections across cloud, identity, endpoint, and SaaS environments, with review and mentorship from senior teammates as you ramp up.
- Contribute to the detection platform, including rule lifecycle management, tuning, measurement, and rollout safety.
- Build tooling and automation that speed up triage, enrichment, investigation, and detection authoring, including LLM-based workflows where useful.
- Turn threat intelligence and adversary TTPs into detections, telemetry requirements, and response improvements.
- Take part in investigations, incident response, and postmortems, and help turn what we learn into lasting fixes.
- Help define and track metrics such as coverage, MTTD, and alert quality.
- Join a shared on-call rotation for incident response.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING
- We're hiring across a range of experience levels. If you have some of these skills but not all, we'd still like to hear from you.
- 3+ years of experience in detection engineering, security operations, incident response, threat hunting, or a closely related security or software engineering role.
- Have written or tuned detections that run in production, and care about signal quality and cutting noise.
- Working knowledge of at least one detection or query language (Sigma, KQL, SPL, YARA-L, EQL, or Panther), or strong SQL or Python skills and the drive to learn one quickly.
- An understanding of how attackers operate (for example, MITRE ATT&CK), and the ability to use it to decide what to detect.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, ideally including identity and access logs.
- Have used SIEM, EDR, or SOAR tools in any size of environment.
- Write clearly in runbooks, design docs, and incident notes, and can own well-scoped projects end to end.
NICE TO HAVE
- Have led purple team, blue team, or adversary emulation exercises that improved detections or telemetry.
- Experience running SIEM, EDR, or SOAR platforms at large scale.
- Experience building or maintaining detection-as-code workflows (version control, CI, and tests for detections).
- Experience applying LLMs or agent-style tooling to security workflows.
- Experience securing AI-enabled systems or endpoint tooling.
- Kubernetes or container detection experience.
- Background in threat intelligence, malware analysis, or digital forensics.
- Contributions to the security community through research, tooling, CTFs, or talks.
- Experience at a high-growth startup or AI company.

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.
You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
This is a remote opportunity, and we would be interested in applicants located in the US or Canada.
The Opportunity:
At Grafana Labs, we build observability tools that help users understand, respond to, and improve their systems – regardless of scale, complexity, or tech stack. We recently started a skunkworks initiative with a mission to bring observability to the rest of the business. Our goal is to make Grafana the single best place where humans and AI agents understand and act on real-time data from across the enterprise. As part of this initiative, we are building an AI-native data intelligence system that gives agents reliable, governed access to enterprise context. This system helps agents retrieve the right data, metadata, definitions, lineage, quality signals, and institutional knowledge without every agent builder having to maintain their own brittle context files. The principle is simple: the context system retrieves, agents decide, and data teams maintain the intelligence.
The new team is a mix of seasoned Grafanistas and new hires. We operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, both as individuals and as a team. Engineers are empowered to make decisions, move quickly, and validate ideas early – while being supported by a deeply collaborative culture that values curiosity, feedback, and cross-functional partnership.
We’re looking for a Senior Software (Database) Engineer to help build the underlying storage system for our general purpose data platform. The database layer has both OLAP and OTLP capabilities to support classic analytics queries while also serving up freshly stored data. It embraces the separation of compute and storage and is designed to run on multiple cloud providers. This is an early-stage role on a high-autonomy team, so you should be comfortable working through ambiguity, making pragmatic architectural decisions, and building systems that can evolve from internal dogfooding to production-grade SaaS. As the team matures, there’s a broad opportunity to expand or redefine this role based on impact and initiative.
What You'll Be Doing:
Take ownership over and build one or multiple parts of the database: Design, implement, test, and operate ingestion, query planning, distributed query execution, data formats, storage formats.
Create a scalable SaaS foundation: Help define and build the architecture for a multi-tenant database service, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and reliable service boundaries.
Power agent-facing retrieval workflows: Build APIs and database interfaces that allow AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications to retrieve data quickly.
Work across product and infrastructure: Partner with the team to make practical tradeoffs between fast experimentation and long-term reliability, especially as the project moves from prototype to production.
Operate what you build: Instrument database services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards. Use observability tools to understand system behavior and improve reliability.
Contribute to technical direction: Help shape the architecture, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts, deployment patterns, and engineering practices for a new product area.
Effective communication: You’ll be working in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment, so we need someone who can communicate effectively and contribute across teams.
Ownership and impact: Take full ownership of the database solutions you develop, ensuring they are not only innovative but also scalable, maintainable, and aligned with real user workflows.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
Strong engineering skills: Solid experience building production-grade, user-facing software systems. You’re a self-starter, capable of tackling complex engineering problems and making design decisions with minimal supervision.
AI experience with a practical mindset: You’re familiar with AI technologies and frameworks, and you focus on delivering high-quality solutions that work in the real world, not just in theory.
Quick iteration and experimentation: You’re comfortable releasing prototypes, collecting feedback, and iterating with a pragmatic mindset.
Proven initiative: You take ownership and drive projects forward, pushing boundaries to find the most impactful solutions. You can deal with ambiguity and are able to define scope where things are loosely defined.
Collaborative attitude: You communicate effectively with your peers. You’re open to feedback, and you bring a solutions-oriented mindset to the table.
Experience with distributed systems, catalogs and table formats, query engines.
Mastery of a programming language like golang, C++, or Rust
Proven track record of delivering software that made it into production and is actively used by users.
Exposure to working in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience using observability tools to understand and troubleshoot system behavior.
Bonus Points for:
Experience building distributed query engines.
Experience building data warehouses and/or data lakes.
Experience building tools for data engineering.
How we work:
We are a remote-first team that meets regularly over video and does most of our work asynchronously, in writing. We value creativity, diverse perspectives, and clear communication. Tempo is relied upon by prominent global organizations to monitor critical applications and infrastructure, and we expect everyone on the team, including our Staff engineers, to contribute ideas that make it a more reliable, more useful, and more loved product.
Compensation & Rewards:
In Canada, the Base compensation range for this role is $
164,490 - $197,389.
Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs' success. We believe in shared outcomes—RSUs help us stay aligned and invested as we scale globally.
*Compensation ranges are country specific. If you are applying for this role from a different location than listed above, your recruiter will discuss your specific market’s defined pay range & benefits at the beginning of the process.

About Wolt
At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
About the Team
Cx App Foundations is a platform organisation within our global Cx organisation. It provides shared consumer foundations and platform capabilities used by engineering teams across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo. Within this organisation, the Velocity team owns the paved road for consumer app development across mobile and web: shared SDKs and client foundations, integration patterns and multi-brand customisation, migration playbooks and reference implementations, and developer tooling that makes building on shared foundations fast and safe. Our mission is to reduce the cost, time, and risk of building consumer experiences across platforms and brands. Product teams own customer-facing experiences; our job is to make sure they can spend their time on delivering delightful experiences. The team is AI-native: AI is a default part of how we design, build, and ship software.
About the Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of experienced engineers across mobile and web, collaborating closely with product teams, design, and adjacent platform organisations across three brands. Your primary responsibility will be owning the team's roadmap and delivery of shared client foundations, and driving their adoption across the organisation, so that product teams ship delightful customer experiences without rebuilding the foundations under them. You will be a key player in keeping the team's operating model healthy: clear intake from stakeholders, predictable delivery, and support expectations that keep the platform from drifting into a general escalation queue. You will also guide architectural and system design decisions with your tech leads. You will stay hands-on: contributing code, reviews, and prototypes alongside the team is part of the job. This role is ideal for a leader who has run platforms, SDKs, or shared services for other engineering teams, communicates clearly across brands and time zones, and wants their impact measured through what other teams achieve with the foundations you ship.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Own the platform roadmap - the shared SDKs, client foundations, and developer tooling the team ships - and sequence it against the migration and adoption goals of the three brands
Drive adoption of the shared foundations by partnering with product teams, running onboarding and rollout support, and making the supported path the easiest path
Lead, coach, and grow experienced mobile and web engineers, keeping growth conversations, calibration, and feedback loops running
Keep the team's operating model healthy: clear intake (stakeholder management, shared-platform, product-specific, or exception work), supported capabilities with entry criteria and support expectations, and predictable delivery
Guide architectural and system design decisions for client foundations that three brands and multiple app platforms depend on
Stay hands-on by contributing code and reviews alongside the team, and champion AI-native development practices
Grow the team through hiring
Our humble expectations
You have 3+ years of experience managing engineers, including a team with senior engineers
You have a solid background (5+ years) in mobile or web engineering, with enough technical depth to hold your own in architecture discussions about client foundations
You use AI tooling fluently in your day-to-day work and stay close to the code
You have run a platform, SDK, or shared service that other teams depend on, and know how to treat internal customers as customers
You work across boundaries naturally: product teams, design, other platform organisations, data/analytics and stakeholders in other locations and time zones
You hold a high bar for engineering quality and can navigate production incidents and release tradeoffs with calm structure
You are based in Helsinki, Finland
What we offer
A platform leadership role with real leverage: the foundations the team owns shape how consumer experiences get built across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo, and your roadmap decisions multiply across every product team that builds on them.
Next steps
The position will be filled as soon as we find the right person, so make sure to apply as soon as you realize you really, really want to join us!
The compensation will be a combination of monthly pay and DoorDash RSUs. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you’ll own a piece of the pie.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.

Overview
We are looking for a Senior SDET to test the resilience and correctness of distributed backend systems supporting a high-stakes account provisioning and onboarding workflow. This role is focused on the execution of pre-approved, benign tracer/replay scenarios against staging endpoints, analysis of request/response behavior, and documentation of observable account/CID lifecycle and downstream state behavior. The ideal candidate has strong distributed-systems and API-testing experience and maintains disciplined technical evidence capture and traceability. This role is not intended to perform unrestricted adversarial testing. Testing activities will be limited to approved staging environments and pre-approved benign scenarios.
Project Details
• Title: Senior SDET
• Rate: $13.5/hr
• Start Date: 26 October
• Duration: 5 Weeks
• Commitment: 33 Hours per Week
• Location: India (Remote)
• Job Type: Freelance (with the possibility of full-time employment based on performance and project needs)
Responsibilities
• Analyze distributed system APIs to validate correctness, consistency, and failure handling across services involved in account creation, data persistence, and related record-linking
• Execute pre-approved request variations and boundary-validation scenarios using sanitized tracer payloads against designated staging endpoints
• Investigate system behavior under malformed, malicious, or unexpected inputs and document findings clearly
• Capture complete request/response evidence, including HTTP status codes, latency, headers, and payload bodies, subject to approved data-handling requirements
• Validate behavior of near-real-time inline checks (evaluated within milliseconds at the gateway) as distinct from longer-running background verification/risk pipelines (evaluated over minutes to hours), confirming each layer of defense behaves as expected
• Verify data persistence, referential integrity, and correct linkage of related records/relationships written by backend services during processing
• Execute controlled replay suites and compare expected versus observed API behavior
• Correlate replay results with the API schemas and network evidence produced by the Middleware SDET
• Document observable account/CID lifecycle behavior and downstream state changes for handoff
• Capture and archive test logs and evidence in a structured, retrievable format to support audits and post-incident reviews
• Collaborate with backend engineering teams to reproduce, isolate, and validate fixes for distributed-system defects
• Contribute to test strategy for backend/middleware reliability, including failure-mode and chaos-style testing
• Maintain traceability between test evidence, defects, and system requirements
• Reconcile backend observations with the frontend FSM and middleware/API evidence produced by earlier workstreams
Required Qualifications
• Strong experience of 5-8+ years in testing distributed systems and analyzing inter-service API behavior
• Hands-on experience with request payload tampering, fuzzing, or adversarial API testing techniques
• Understanding of layered defense architectures, including the distinction between synchronous/inline validation and asynchronous/background verification processes
• Familiarity with testing data persistence and relational/hierarchical integrity in backend data stores
• Demonstrated discipline in test log archival, evidence capture, and structured documentation practices
• Solid understanding of backend/middleware architecture, failure modes, and system boundaries
• Familiarity with API testing tools and scripting for building custom fuzzing/tampering test cases
• Strong analytical and investigative skills for root-causing complex, systemic defects
• Experience executing controlled API replay or staging validation is strongly preferred
• Experience correlating API responses with observable application/account lifecycle states is preferred
• Experience supporting audit, compliance, or evidence-based reporting requirements is a plus

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

. We're now preparing to deliver billions of dollars a year to people in extreme poverty, if funding allows.
Read our CEO's essay
on what that will take.
About this role:
Are you an experienced engineer at the stage of your career where, above all, you want to do good?
This role is about using engineering to support fundraising: delighting our donors; helping our fundraisers; getting donations recorded and safely started on their journey to our recipients; telling donors and the public about what happens to their gifts. A bit of website development. A lot of plumbing.
The good news about
this
position:
You will make a difference to people in extreme poverty
You will work independently, with few constraints
You will work directly with lovely people from across our fundraising teams
The trade-offs:
There is only one other fundraising engineer and mostly you will be working on your own
Our technology is a mixture of boring (Laravel, PHP, plain JS, HTML and CSS) and legacy (Salesforce, Wordpress, wrangling CSV files sent by our partners)
We're growing, but this is a role for someone who values depth and impact over a fast title ladder.
The maybe good maybe bad news about the role depending on who you are:
We are all in on AI where it allows us to get more $ to people in extreme poverty
If you want a role where you will be part of a bigger engineering team, working in Python or working on more complex tasks, then please take a look at our
other engineering roles
.
This role is right for you if:
You care about our mission
You agree with
our values
You have the right to work in one of the countries we're able to hire from (you can check the current list
here
).
You're happy working remotely, and taking meetings across East Africa Time and US Eastern Time.
You are happy to travel to meet your colleagues in the US, Europe and Africa a few weeks a year
You are fluent in English
You have 4+ years of engineering experience
You're happy working autonomously: defining what needs doing, doing it, getting it tested and launched, fixing the bugs, and hustling to make progress every day.
You're comfortable being on-call on peak donation days (Giving Tuesday and the last weeks of the year), including owning an incident: working out what matters, communicating with fundraisers, and debugging on legacy and others' code, sometimes when no other engineers are available.
You are happy with our boring and legacy technologies (Laravel, PHP, plain JS, HTML, CSS, Salesforce, Wordpress, SQL, wrangling csv files etc). You don’t have to be experienced in all of them, but you do have to be genuinely happy to use them (many engineers are not…).
You are happy and skilled at working directly with non-engineers on messy, poorly defined, rapidly changing, sometimes boring tasks
Compensation
At GiveDirectly, we strive to pay our employees generously and equitably. What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!

Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live
our values
every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.
How We Work
We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote
Little more about the team:
AI agents at Honeycomb investigate, reason, and act on real observability data. They live in Canvas: the agentic workspace where engineers go to understand their systems.
The Agentic Intelligence team has shipped Canvas, the Honeycomb MCP server, and the Canvas Agent and Canvas Skills surfaces. What we're looking for today is someone who brings deep agent expertise and uses it to expand what the team can build: new agents, new surface area in Canvas, memory, spatial awareness, improved performance on our Bedrock loop.
Honeycomb's data store is fast and accepts high cardinality data; that's what makes agents built on top of it different from anything built on a conventional observability backend. This role is about taking advantage of that building agents that can do things no other observability product can do because the underlying data makes it possible.
Some of this work will start as a prototype. The expectation is that the code makes it through the full arc, from the rough first version through to something that holds up in production.
What you'll do
Design and deliver production-grade agents.
Build agents that investigate, reason, and act on live observability data inside Canvas. These agents must be trustworthy to engineers in high pressure situations, including mid-incident. Take one from rough first version to something that holds up under production traffic.
Own the agent work; support the whole product.
Scope, build, ship, and maintain the agents including the evals that tell you whether they got better or are just different. This role is agent-focused and also includes some fullstack development.
Build agents only Honeycomb can build.
Use a data store that returns high-cardinality queries in seconds to reason over signal a conventional backend can't serve at this fidelity correlating across services, drilling into a single trace, comparing before and after a deploy.
Extend the surface, and decide what's next.
Ship new capability into Canvas, the MCP server, and Canvas Skills memory, spatial awareness, a faster Bedrock loop and make the case for what comes after with working code. Distinguish hype from signal in a field with plenty of both.
Define what "good" means for agents here.
Set the bar: measurable against real evals, maintainable, and honest about their limits.
Example projects
Multiple agents collaborating on one shared Canvas investigation
each claiming a hypothesis, publishing findings, and narrowing the search space for the others so it resolves faster (blog).
Auto-investigation the moment an SLO burn alert fires
the agent forms hypotheses and prepares visualizations before a human looks, cutting mean-time-to-insight for on-call (o11ycon 2026).
Skills that encode a team's domain expertise
e.g. Kubernetes thresholds so agents and human colleagues can lean on them (o11ycon 2026).
What you'll bring:
AI and agent engineering experience.
You've shipped LLM-based systems people relied on in production not demos, not fine-tuned models in a research context. You know where agent systems break and how to design around it.
End-to-end ownership.
On a small team there's no handoff queue. You can take something from rough prototype to production-grade without needing someone behind you to do the durable engineering.
Current judgment, not just past experience.
You have informed opinions about what's shifted in agent design in the last six to twelve months that would change how you'd build today.
Agent architecture depth.
You understand how a fast, high-cardinality data store changes what an agent can reason about, and how to design for that.
Product judgment.
You can look at what the agent layer does today and see what it should do next and make that case with a prototype, not a deck.
Even better
Observability or developer-tools background.
Engineers are your users; you'll ramp faster with fluency in that world, and the work is better.
Familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG, and prompt engineering.
Base Salary based on level of experience
$250,000
—
$280,000 CAD
What you'll get when you join the Hive:
A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program
It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
Time to recharge with unlimited PTO
A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!)
Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Principal Product Cybersecurity Assurance Engineer with deep expertise in product security, threat modelling, and risk assurance for highly regulated electromechanical systems. In this role, you will lead the delivery of product cybersecurity across Humanoid's HMND 01 platform family — the Alpha Wheeled industrial robot and the Alpha Bipedal home robot — both powered by our KinetIQ VLM/VLA-based AI framework. Working alongside product, firmware, autonomy, and hardware teams as part of the Systems Engineering and Architecture Team, you will define and maintain the cybersecurity assurance strategy for all product security activities from first concept through post-market deployment. Security at Humanoid is an engineering discipline inseparable from functional safety and central to our mission of creating the world's most reliable, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. To excel in this position, you must demonstrate the authority to influence security architecture decisions across complex, cross-functional programmes, the rigour to build defensible security cases for novel cyber-physical systems, and the leadership to grow and guide a cross team of security engineers operating at the frontier of robotics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Team Leadership & Product Security Delivery
- Lead and develop a cross-functional team of security engineers, maintaining accountability for the delivery of product security services within product teams throughout the HMND 01 development lifecycle.

- Solid understanding of engineering development lifecycles and how the product cybersecurity specialism aligns with systems engineering, functional safety, and hardware/software co-development.
- Ability to interpret Penetration Test reports and author Remediation Action Plans that address identified vulnerabilities in a structured, risk-prioritised manner.
- Clear, structured communication skills — able to articulate complex security risk arguments to both technical engineers and executive stakeholders with equal confidence.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) or equivalent threat modelling methodologies (STRIDE, PASTA) applied to embedded or OT/IT convergent systems.
- Understanding of secure-by-design principles for AI/ML-enabled systems, including securing inference pipelines, model integrity, and cloud-to-edge communication paths.
- Exposure to CAN bus, Ethernet backbone, or wireless interface security in mobile, vehicular, or robotic systems.
- Experience contributing to or establishing a Product Security Incident Response (PSIRT) process or coordinated vulnerability disclosure programme.
- Knowledge of UL 4600, UL 3300, or ISO 13482 and an appreciation of how cybersecurity evidence integrates into safety case arguments.
- Prior engagement with certification bodies (TUV, UL, BSI) or standards development organisations (ISO TC 184, IEC TC 65, SAE, IEEE RAS).
WHAT WE OFFER
- Comprehensive health coverage for US‑based employees, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with virtual care and employee assistance resources.
- Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of PTO (accrued), separate sick leave, and paid company holidays.
- 401(k) retirement plan with 4% employer match.
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in‑office.
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.

About the Role
We are looking for a Distinguished Engineer to lead technical direction across GitLab's Core DevOps services, the systems the majority of our users touch every day. Distinguished Engineers are recognized experts across multiple technology domains and represent the most senior level of technical leadership within and across divisions at the company.
Core DevOps builds continuous Integration, continuous deployment, planning, and source control experiences. These are among the most mature, highest traffic, and most deeply interconnected systems at GitLab. They carry years of accumulated architectural decisions, they sit in the critical path of our customers' own delivery pipelines, and they are being reshaped by the shift toward AI native development. The job is to raise their quality, converge them onto a coherent go-forward architecture, and retire accumulated risk, all without interrupting the millions of users and Fortune 100 organizations who depend on them.
GitLab is pursuing a set of company-wide engineering goals: large gains in developer productivity, measurably higher quality in what we ship, and engineering practices reshaped around AI and agentic workflows. Core DevOps is where much of that strategy has to land, because these are the services our own engineers and our customers depend on daily. In this role you will bring that strategy into Core DevOps in a form that works for long lived production systems, and carry what you learn here back out to the rest of engineering.
What You'll Do
Set and continuously refine the go forward technical direction for CI, CD, Plan, and source code experiences, aligned against the horizontal architectural initiatives.
Work directly with the VP of Engineering as her technical counterpart on planning, technical investment, and where the group's engineering effort should go.
Translate GitLab's company-wide productivity, quality, and AI native engineering goals into concrete technical direction for Core DevOps, and turn into iterable roadmaps, partnering broadly across the org.
Define what good means in measurable terms for these services, including availability, latency at p95 and p99, pipeline success rate, test reliability, data correctness, and defect escape rate, then hold designs and implementations to it.
Maintain a clear and current picture of systemic technical risk across the group, including single points of failure, unowned critical paths, brittle coupling between CI/CD and Plan, scaling limits, and past decisions that now constrain the roadmap. Drive a prioritized plan to retire it.
Lead the hardest design decisions hands on, writing code, prototypes, and proofs of concept where a design argument needs evidence behind it.
Drive convergence on shared patterns, libraries, and paved paths, reducing how many different ways the same problem gets solved across the group.
Design migration paths that let large, long lived systems change underneath users without breaking them, using incremental cutover, dual run, measurable rollback, and deprecation with clear timelines.
Adopt the platform capabilities coming from GitLab's AI organization and the company's productivity initiatives into Core DevOps, feed this group's requirements back into them, and help prove what works on systems of this scale and maturity.
Serve as the escalation point for complex or contested technical decisions across the group, including those where no single team owns the outcome.
Review significant designs and merge requests in the group's critical paths, and use review to teach rather than only to gate.
Ensure designs hold across GitLab.com, GitLab Dedicated, and Self-Managed deployments, and respect multi-tenant, compliance, and data governance boundaries in each.
Partner with Infrastructure, Security, and SRE so Core DevOps services are observable and debuggable, and so failure modes degrade gracefully instead of cascading.
Make architectural constraints and opportunities clear to Product in roadmap terms, so that technical investment and product ambition get planned together instead of traded off late.
Write clear, opinionated design documents, architecture narratives, and decision records that let teams across the group make aligned decisions independently.
Grow Principal and Staff Engineers across Core DevOps, raise the bar on design rigor and technical writing, and contribute to the technical hiring bar for senior individual contributors.
Participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation to help meet availability goals for GitLab.com, and complete Interview Training to participate in hiring as a technical interviewer or panel member.
What You'll Bring
10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior technical leadership role.
Deep expertise in AI and ML systems, including large language models, agentic frameworks, and autonomous workflow design at production scale.
Proven track record of leading hands-on technical experimentation, including defining evaluation frameworks, running benchmarks, and translating findings into scalable architecture decisions.
Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems, including service decomposition, fault tolerance, observability, and operational resilience.
Experience designing and implementing human-in-the-loop controls, safety guardrails, and responsible AI practices for production systems.
Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across multiple teams or divisions without direct authority.
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed organization with excellent written and asynchronous communication skills.

ABOUT MISTRAL
Mistral provides full-stack AI solutions: from frontier models to developer tools, applications, and compute. We partner with enterprises tackling the hardest problems across high-stakes industries like finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector, co-creating customized AI systems that they can run on their terms.
We are a dynamic, collaborative team passionate about AI and its potential to transform society. Our diverse workforce thrives in competitive environments and is committed to driving innovation. Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited.
THE ROLE
Cybersecurity is one of the areas where AI could do the most good — and one where the capability must be built with particular care. As a Research Engineer on this track, you'll push our models' capabilities in vulnerability discovery and remediation, security analysis, incident response, and across the offensive-to-defensive spectrum of cybersecurity, and it will be your job to develop that ability deliberately and safely.
The work sits at the meeting point of research and engineering: you'll devise new approaches and be the one to implement them. Concretely, that means designing and building RL environments that reproduce realistic security scenarios, pipelines that generate synthetic training instances at scale, and experiments and evaluations that show what our models can actually do. Your results feed directly into the production training runs that shape our frontier models, in close collaboration with Mistral's researchers, engineers, and security specialists.
Security specialists and ML engineers are both welcome here — what matters is that you can hold your own in both worlds, and are eager to go deeper on the one you know less.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design and implement RL environments simulating cybersecurity scenarios.
- Build the pipelines and infrastructure that generate synthetic cybersecurity training instances at scale — thousands of scenarios, not one hand-crafted exercise.
- Conduct experiments and evaluations of model capabilities on these environments, from quick prototypes to controlled benchmark runs.
- Own the infrastructure behind the environments: containers, sandboxes, VMs, cloud deployments, and orchestration (Kubernetes), all managed as code.
- Partner with researchers and security specialists across Mistral, distilling their domain expertise into reproducible environments and datasets.
- Write clear, efficient code in Python and enforce strong software-design practices: testing, code review, CI/CD.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Hands-on expertise in offensive and/or defensive cybersecurity: vulnerability analysis, web/network/cloud security, secure coding practices, and SOC.
- Strong software engineering skills: clean, reliable, well-tested code — not just exploit scripts.
- Fluency in Python plus comfort reading lower-level languages (C/C++) for vulnerability analysis.
- DevOps experience: Docker, Kubernetes, cloud deployments, sandboxed or simulated environments.
- A pragmatic research-to-engineering mindset: ship a working first version, then refine and scale it.
- Working knowledge of RL techniques and LLM training methodologies, or strong motivation to develop it.
- Self-starter, low-ego, collaborative — comfortable working across research and engineering.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- CTF, cyber-range, or bug-bounty experience — as a player, challenge author, or platform builder.
- A research background in cybersecurity, academic or industrial, or in another experimental discipline.
- Prior experience building RL environments or large-scale ML training infrastructure.
- Relevant open-source contributions and projects.
