HEALTH CAN’T WAIT.
Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture https://alan.com/en/careers. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR.
Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 1000+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond.
⭐ BUILD THE AI-NATIVE COMPANY, FOR REAL
Alan has spent 10 years developing a distinctive way of working: radical transparency, written culture, distributed decision-making, no managers, no meetings by default. This wasn't just philosophy. It was a deliberate architectural choice, and it made Alan one of the most productive companies in European tech.
Now, agentic AI empowers us to make it much more personalized. The principles that made Alan productive become the foundation for a much more ambitious journey: a company where AI agents handle organizational complexity, surface the right context instantly, and let every person focus on the work that matters.
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will:
- Build the AI-powered internal platform that every Alaner uses daily to navigate the company, find context, and take action.
- Design and ship intelligent agents that automate real organizational workflows: onboarding, knowledge retrieval, performance alignment, decision support.
- Push LLMs into production for structured reasoning, agentic task execution, and deep integration with internal tools.
- Define the primitives and abstractions of AI-native work, the patterns that scale across every team and every country Alan operates in.
- Replace generic tools (HRIS, performance reviews, IAM) with opinionated, Alan-native software that compounds with our culture.
- Build and scale our Identity & Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and user lifecycle across 25+ systems.
- Collaborate with product, design, security and leadership to turn Alan's cultural principles into software that amplifies them.
WHY THIS ROLE IS SPECIAL
- Alan's written, transparent, async culture generates an extraordinary volume of structured organizational knowledge. Most companies can't feed AI agents with high-quality internal data. Alan already can.
- The team is building a full AI-native operational layer from scratch, not adding copilots to legacy tools.
- Every Alaner uses what you ship, every day. The feedback loop between building and impact is immediate.
- The work sits at the frontier of applied AI: agents, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool use, human-in-the-loop design.
- The ambition goes beyond Alan. The patterns you build here could define how high-performance companies operate in the AI era.
🛠 YOUR PLAYGROUND
- Stack: Python/Flask, React, PostgreSQL, plus deep integration with LLM APIs and internal AI infrastructure.
- What you'll do: design and ship AI-native tools that power how Alan works. automated workflows, organizational navigation, agentic assistants.
- Impact: your work shapes the daily experience of every Alaner and builds the playbook for the AI-native company.
👥 WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Software engineers with +5 years of experience, ideally with backend or full-stack experience.
- Genuinely excited about AI and eager to explore what LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems can do inside a real product.
- Comfortable building in fast-moving territory where the right abstractions don't exist yet.
- Well-versed in OOP languages (Python, Java, C#) and modern web technologies.
- Fluent in English (French is a plus but not required).
- Curious, self-starting, humble, collaborative, and eager to grow.
🙌 PERKS & BENEFITS
- Fair rewards & equity packages.
- Flexible office & remote options.
- Top-tier equipment: MacBook Pro, monitor, noise-canceling headphones.
- Flexible vacation & hours.
- Comprehensive healthcare for you, children, and partners.
- Transport support and coaching for personal growth.
- Training budget for conferences, courses, books.
- Extended parental leave for all parents.
🔄 RECRUITMENT NOTE
🌟 We hire people, not roles. Don't worry if you don't check every box. High potential and curiosity matter most. We may even suggest another team if we see a better fit.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment and knows how to build the systems, culture, and talent needed to consistently hit and exceed revenue targets in the mid-market and growth segment.
Commercial is one of Vercel's most important growth levers in EMEA - it's where we convert developer love and self-service momentum into contracted, expanding revenue with scaling tech companies and digital-native businesses. You'll be based in London and work closely with Marketing, SDR leadership, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success to build a repeatable, scalable commercial sales engine across the region.

Hire, onboard, and develop a team of Commercial AEs, building a culture of high activity, sharp qualification, and consistent execution
Drive a high-velocity sales motion with shorter cycles, strong outbound discipline, and efficient deal management
Coach AEs on territory planning, prospecting strategies, and how to sell to technical and business stakeholders at scaling companies
Partner with Marketing and SDR leadership to build and convert pipeline across EMEA - inbound and outbound
Develop and iterate on Commercial-specific messaging and positioning that resonates with engineering leaders and CTOs at growth-stage companies
Accurately forecast and report on team activity and revenue to EMEA sales leadership
Build scalable processes, playbooks, and onboarding frameworks that let the team ramp quickly and perform consistently
Collaborate cross-functionally with CS, Product, and Legal to ensure smooth handoffs and strong retention in the commercial segment
Identify expansion opportunities within the existing commercial customer base and coach AEs to grow accounts over time
Represent Vercel at EMEA industry events, developer conferences, and customer-facing engagements
What you need
3+ years of sales leadership experience in a SaaS or technical software environment, with a strong track record managing high-velocity commercial or mid-market teams
Proven ability to hire, ramp, and develop commercial AEs in a competitive market
Deep understanding of commercial sales motions - you know how to run a tight pipeline, coach on qualification, and keep deal velocity high without sacrificing quality
Experience selling into engineering, product, or technical leadership at scaling or growth-stage companies
Data-driven approach to running a team - you use metrics to identify coaching opportunities, forecast accurately, and iterate on process
Hands-on leader who is comfortable being in deals, on calls, and in the weeds when your team needs it
Fluency in English required; additional European language skills (French, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic) are a strong plus given the EMEA scope
Familiarity with developer tooling, frontend infrastructure, or cloud platforms is a significant advantage
Familiarity with Vercel, Next.js, or the modern web development ecosystem is a plus

In 2026, we launched Computer, the defining product for the new era of agentic AI. Millions of people now use Perplexity to transform knowledge into action, and every action an agent takes is metered, budgeted, and settled through the billing platform this role owns.
As a monetization engineer at Perplexity, you'll own the abstractions that let product teams ship new SKUs, run pricing experiments, and convert users into paying customers, without needing to understand billing internals. The usage-based billing system this team owns is foundational to Perplexity Computer and our agentic products: metering every agent action in real time, enforcing credit budgets, and settling costs across entirely new interaction models. You'll work across subscriptions, usage-based billing, and enterprise contracts to ensure every revenue path is reliable, observable, and easy to extend.
Tech Stack: Python | Go | Stripe | PostgreSQL | AWS | Docker
WHY PERPLEXITY IS DIFFERENT
- Craftsmanship. We build high quality, tasteful products targeting both the AI native and AI curious.
- Ownership. You identify the problem, design the solution and ship it.
- Entrepreneurship. We think like founders, act with urgency, and hustle to deliver for each other and our users.
- Scholarship. Work among highly talented peers, pursuing knowledge and truth, upleveling ourselves, our teams, and our products.
- Partnership. We amplify each others' strengths, break down silos, and give selflessly to help our colleagues deliver excellence.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design, build, and own the billing platform and monetization systems that power Computer and every paid experience across Perplexity.
- Lead features end-to-end, from problem definition through technical design, implementation, and launch, including the billing API abstractions that let product teams ship new SKUs, pricing models, and monetization experiments with minimal friction.
- Build and operate the subscription, invoicing, and usage-based billing systems that serve millions of users across consumer and enterprise plans.
- Hill-climb on reliability: tiered SLOs organized by customer impact, proactive monitoring, and alerting to catch revenue-affecting issues before customers do.
- Partner closely with Finance, Data Science, Growth, Security, Support, and go-to-market teams to keep billing data accurate, auditable, and compliant, and to expand payment method coverage and optimize authorization rates globally.
- Build internal tooling that empowers Support and Finance to diagnose and resolve billing issues quickly.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Direct experience building or scaling billing, payments, subscription, or monetization systems.
- Deep familiarity with payment processors (Stripe, Square, etc.), including subscriptions, invoicing, disputes, refunds, and webhooks.
- Demonstrated experience and appetite for building in-house billing solutions that rival leading best-in-class buy options.
- Strong backend engineering skills in Python with the ability to reason about complex distributed systems.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and making data-informed decisions to prioritize work.
- Strong product judgment, you translate user and stakeholder problems into simple, effective technical solutions.
- Self-motivated with strong ownership instincts, you ship major features ahead of schedule and drive improvements without asking for permission.
- Track record of cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Support, or Growth stakeholders.
- Genuine interest and adoption of AI products and willingness to learn quickly.
NICE TO HAVE
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with the Stripe APIs and SDKs.
- Experience with usage-based or metered billing models, especially metering agent actions, tokens, or other non-traditional units.
- Experience with Apple and Google Play in-app purchase billing.
- Familiarity with growth experimentation and PLG/self-serve SaaS monetization.
- Experience building platform constructs that support pricing experiments and A/B testing.
- Full-stack experience (our frontend is Next.js/React/TypeScript).
- Experience in a regulatory or compliance-heavy billing environment.
- Time spent at a fast-growing startup or on a high-ownership engineering team.

Requirements
What We Expect From You:
AI-Augmented Engineering:
You don't view AI as a replacement for deep technical fundamentals, but as a high-leverage tool. We actively use AI agents (Claude, Codex, Gemini, etc.) to automate boilerplate, analyze complex logs, and speed up research. We expect you to be open to modern workflows and integrate AI into your day-to-day operations, allowing you to focus your brainpower on the true architectural challenges.
Deep PostgreSQL Expertise (5+ years):
You know MVCC internals, understand locking mechanics, can configure Patroni and PgBouncer "with your eyes closed," and have experience with seamless major version upgrades under load.
ClickHouse Mastery:
Experience operating large clusters, understanding ZooKeeper/ClickHouse Keeper, sharding, replication internals, and the ability to diagnose performance issues at the data-part level.
Engineering Mindset (SRE/DevOps):
You hate doing the same task twice by hand. Experience writing complex Terraform modules and Ansible roles is mandatory. Programming skills in
Python
or
Go
for automation are a huge plus.
Hybrid Environment Experience:
You understand the differences between running DBs on Bare Metal vs. Kubernetes vs. Cloud and know how to optimize TCO and disk subsystem performance (NVMe, Network Storage).
Systems Approach:
You see the big picture - from the network packet to the application business logic. You understand the importance of security (FIPS, Audit logs) and Disaster Recovery.
English:
upper-intermediate or higher - to ensure clear communication of progress within the teams
Nice to Have:
Experience building an Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
Experience operating databases in Kubernetes (CloudNativePG, Altinity Operator).
Experience working in Cloud and Hosting providers on similar services.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
