ABOUT US
Ruby Labs is a leading tech company that creates and operates innovative consumer products. We offer a diverse range of opportunities across the health, education, and entertainment industries. Our innovative teams are driving the future of consumer-led products, and we're always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to own and scale the AI layer of one of our core D2C subscription products. You will be fully responsible for production LLM features and the browser automation built around them end to end — prompt systems, structured outputs, evaluation, observability, and model selection — from first experiment to live release, with quality, reliability, and cost as your accountability.
This is a high-impact role suited for someone who decides with data, not intuition. Unmeasured prompt changes, untraced failures, and model swaps without benchmarks are not acceptable. You work in a modern TypeScript stack — Next.js, Cloudflare Workers and Containers with Hono, Hatchet task queues, Drizzle on Supabase Postgres, Vercel Blob. Browser automation on Browserbase and Playwright is roughly half of the job.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PROMPT SYSTEMS & STRUCTURED OUTPUTS
- Design dynamic prompt templates with conditional logic and context injection that maximise generation quality
- Enforce predictable outputs with JSON mode, function calling, Zod/JSON schemas, validators, and repair loops
- Own complex LLM workflows (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom) that integrate cleanly into application logic
BROWSER AUTOMATION
- Build and maintain browser automation on Browserbase Functions and Playwright that traverses web flows reliably
- Classify screens with a model inside each traversal, and decide what the model handles versus deterministic code
- Ship automations as frozen, published workers — versioned, reproducible, and safe to roll back
- Orchestrate runs through Hatchet with retries, timeouts, and failure traces that explain every broken run
EVALUATION & EXPERIMENTATION
- Build evaluation pipelines — test datasets, LLM-as-a-judge, RAGAS-style metrics — and score responses and screen classifications in Langfuse
- Trace complex LLM chains to find bottlenecks in cost, latency, and context-window usage
- Run A/B experiments across models and prompts through an AI gateway (OpenRouter, Cloudflare AI Gateway); release only on quantitative benchmarks
- Re-evaluate models as new architectures emerge; fine-tune when domain requirements demand it
PRODUCTION OWNERSHIP
- Take AI features from experiment to live production on Cloudflare Workers and Containers, and stay accountable after release
- Manage rate limits, fallbacks, and model cost so features stay reliable at scale
- Resolve production incidents in owned AI and automation systems with documented root-cause analysis
QUALIFICATIONS
MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE
- 【5+】 years of software engineering with Node.js, TypeScript, Next.js, and Postgres, including edge or serverless runtimes such as Cloudflare Workers
- Production browser automation with Playwright (Browserbase or similar): resilient selectors, retries, failure handling at scale
- Production experience with dynamic prompting — content that depends on input variables and injected context
- Structured outputs in production: JSON mode, function calling, Zod/JSON schemas
- Experience with unified LLM APIs or AI gateways (OpenRouter, Cloudflare AI Gateway): rate limits, fallbacks, cost-effective model selection
- LLM observability with Langfuse or similar: tracing, test datasets, scoring integration
- Evaluation methodology: RAGAS or custom LLM-as-a-judge systems
LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES
- Decides on benchmarks and trace data, not intuition
- Analytical — converts generation logs into metrics a business can act on
- Iterative — builds feedback loops and improves continuously
- Owns the outcome from experiment to production, and after
- Verifies before trusting — treats LLM output as unproven until validated

We are a global technology company headquartered in Toronto with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Join us!
ABOUT THE ROLE.
We’re building the next generation of agentic AI infrastructure at Cohere. This team sits at the intersection of ML systems, distributed infrastructure, and developer experience, creating the platform that powers autonomous AI agents at scale.
You’ll work on hard, forward-looking problems with few established patterns, including secure code execution, agent state management, model routing, identity and authentication, and resource management for long-running agent workflows.
This role is a strong fit for someone who combines systems depth with ML intuition. You should be comfortable building reliable infrastructure, thinking through distributed systems tradeoffs, and understanding how emerging agentic capabilities shape platform design.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON.
- Secure execution environments for agent-generated code
- Identity, authentication, and trust boundaries for agents
- Model routing and orchestration across different model types and environments
- Rate limiting, quotas, and resource management for agent workflows
- State management, memory, and filesystem abstractions for agents.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Turn emerging ML research ideas into production-ready infrastructure
- Build core platform capabilities for execution, storage, and state management
- Prototype and evaluate new technologies, then help decide what should move into production
- Partner with research teams to shape infrastructure based on what future agent systems will need
YOU MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience building production ML infrastructure with strong systems fundamentals
- Hands-on work with agentic systems, multi-agent workflows, or agent development frameworks
- Familiarity with model routing and LLM provider frameworks across different model types and environments
- Experience with scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and Kubernetes
- A track record of moving quickly on prototypes and making good decisions about productionization.
BONUS
- Experience across on-prem, private cloud, and public cloud environments
- Familiarity with storage systems, embedded databases, or filesystem abstractions
- Experience with code execution sandboxes such as gVisor, Firecracker, Kata, or WASM runtimes
- Interest in emerging ML infrastructure, edge inference, or browser-native models
- Open-source contributions to LLM or agent infrastructure projects
- Experience with identity, workload auth, or capability-based security systems.

- You'll join one of Teleport's access teams. These teams build secure, passwordless access to every kind of infrastructure, using short lived credentials, and it has to work at the scale of our largest customers.
- Improve observability, tracing and failure handling so the access layer can be debugged at scale.
- Grow your technical expertise.
- Lead a distributed team of outstanding engineers.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Willingness to work collaboratively with Teleport's engineers on coding challenge in Go https://github.com/gravitational/careers/blob/main/challenges/systems/challenge-1.md as part of the interview process.

For this role, we use a take-home challenge that mirrors real work at Teleport — on your time, your way. You'll have support from the team throughout.
1. Zoom meeting with a Teleport recruiter. You’ll learn about the company, our products, compensation philosophy, interview process, and key requirements.
2. Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager will walk you through the coding challenge and answer your questions.

The day after your meeting with the Hiring Manager, you join a Slack channel and complete a coding challenge in Go https://github.com/gravitational/careers/blob/main/challenges/systems/challenge-1.md using GitHub. The challenge usually takes about 2 weeks and ends with a Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager and a member of the interview team to review your solution.
4. If your challenge solution meets our bar, you'll receive an offer to join Teleport.
Why Teleport
You're joining a company where the problem is real, the team is small, and your work shows up directly in the product. We're not a big company, you won't get lost in a crowd. You'll have the freedom and autonomy to do what you're great at, alongside teammates who care about doing it right and want to see you succeed. The work is collaborative, there's real room to grow, and the mission is one worth showing up for.
