adjoe builds the technologies behind mobile apps growth and monetization. With our core product Playtime Arcade, we've become the global leader in rewarded advertising, an ad unit built on a simple premise: users earn real in-app rewards for engaging with new apps. The result is one of the most effective value exchanges in adtech, connecting advertisers and publishers with over 770 million users annually.
Architecting Intelligence to Optimize 200M+ Daily Decisions
As the intelligence core of our engineering organization, our Data Science team doesn't just deploy models, we engineer the fundamental decision engine that powers our platform. At a scale of 770 million users and 100,000+ predictions per second, we are solving a multi-objective optimization problem that balances user incentives, advertiser ROI, and long-term platform health in real time.
Our architecture is built on a 1PB+ behavioral data lake, providing the high-fidelity input necessary to train deep learning models that predict individual user engagement with precision. We aren't just optimizing clicks, we are dynamically calculating optimal reward structures to sustain a global value exchange.
Engineered for performance, our stack leverages Tensorflow and PyTorch for model training, NVIDIA Triton to achieve sub-100ms inference. We own the full ML lifecycle from high-level research and feature engineering to deployment and A/B experimentation. Here, you will find the autonomy, the data depth, and the massive scale required to solve the most complex optimization challenges in the adtech ecosystem.
The data infrastructure behind this runs at real scale: 2TB ingested in real time every day, 100+ Airflow jobs and data pipelines, and ML models handling p99 latency of 100ms across 100,000+ predictions per second. As a Data Engineer on this team – you'll be building and maintaining the infrastructure that makes them possible: the Feature Store, the data pipelines, the data quality systems, and the data architecture that data scientists depend on to move fast.
Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For:
- Data engineering at ML scale. You have 5+ years in data engineering on a modern stack, with proven experience handling systems that process several TB of data per day and thousands of events per second.
- Flink is your default for real-time. You have hands-on experience with Apache Flink for stateful stream processing and real-time feature computation. You'll translate Data Science requirements into high-performance streams, enable Data Scientists to contribute new features and implement features yourself when needed..
- Pipeline bottlenecks don't survive long around you. You know how to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in complex ETL jobs, whether handling high-volume batch processing or real-time streaming systems like Kafka. At adjoe, data velocity is critical: slow pipelines directly impact model freshness and prediction quality at sub-100ms inference.
- You think in layers, not tables. You move beyond raw data to design robust, multi-layered data architectures using dbt, and can reason confidently about storage formats, Data Lakehouse models, and what belongs where in a 1PB+ data lake. Familiarity with Medallion Architecture is a strong plus.
- The bridge between Data Science and Backend. You've worked closely with Data Scientists on online ML systems with low latency requirements, and understand what it takes to make experimental research production-ready. Strong Java required; Go or Python a plus.
- Owns quality, not just delivery. You implement data validation, monitoring, and governance processes in production, because in a system where model inputs directly drive advertiser ROI, data integrity isn't optional. Experience with Airflow, Kubeflow, AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes is a strong plus.
🌎 We welcome applications from talent worldwide and provide relocation support to Hamburg, Germany for those ready to join our team.
What’s in It for You?
At adjoe, you’re not here to just close JIRA tickets, you’re helping build the infrastructure behind one of the most impactful platforms in adtech. The systems you work on will reach hundreds of millions of users and power billions of decisions every day.
- Go Big. Own projects with impact on 770M users and push adtech boundaries.
- Move Fast. Ship solutions multiple times a day, learn from results, and keep momentum.
- Be Direct. Solve problems openly and collaborate across teams.
- Thrive Together. Grow with a diverse, global team of people from over 40 different countries that learn from each other.
- Have Fun. Celebrate wins, enjoy daily victories, and bring your energy.
We welcome applications from people who will contribute to the diversity of our company.

About
Customer.io
Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day.
Customer.io
powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data.
About the role
Hi, my name is Michael, Head of Data & Analytics at
Customer.io
, and I'm looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help our teams make better decisions using customer and product data.
You'll partner closely with Product, Marketing, and Customer Experience to evaluate product changes, design and analyze experiments, identify opportunities to improve the customer experience, and influence roadmap and business priorities. This is a hands-on role focused on analyzing behavior, building models, and turning data into clear, actionable direction.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, working closely with stakeholders, and applying data science pragmatically to support product and business decisions. We're looking for someone with an ownership mindset and a bias for action who balances technical rigor with practical decision-making.
What we value
Ownership:
You take initiative and drive analytical work from concept to implementation. You don't wait for perfect requirements — you help define the problem and move the work forward.
Curiosity:
You naturally question assumptions and dig deeper into the "why" behind user behavior. You enjoy uncovering patterns in complex data and have the persistence to work through ambiguity and messy datasets.
Analytical Rigor:
You bring a thoughtful, structured approach to analytics and decision-making. You know how to define meaningful measures of success, evaluate changes with rigor, and distinguish signal from noise in complex behavioral data so teams can act with confidence.
Communication:
You can translate complex analytical concepts into clear recommendations for Product Managers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration:
You work as a true cross-functional partner, balancing analytical rigor with practical business needs. You build trust by making data approachable, actionable, and reliable.
What you'll do
Analyze behavioral patterns across the customer lifecycle to identify trends, usage archetypes, and opportunities to improve adoption, engagement, and retention.
Design experiments and measurement approaches to evaluate the impact of product and marketing changes - and help teams make decisions based on evidence rather than intuition.
Build models and datasets that improve how teams segment customers, forecast outcomes, and identify trends.
Apply machine learning and AI techniques where they solve practical problems, for both internal decision-making and customer-facing scenarios.
Partner with Data Engineering to improve the quality, reliability, and accessibility of core data and metrics.
Communicate findings clearly and directly so teams can make informed decisions without needing a statistics background.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in a Data Science role within B2B SaaS or a similar product- or growth-focused environment.
Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and behavioral analytics - with the ability to apply them pragmatically to real product and business problems.
Proficiency in SQL and Python for large-scale analysis, modeling, and exploration.
Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar); familiarity with dbt is a plus.
Strong communication and stakeholder skills - you can explain complex analysis clearly to PMs, marketers, executives, and non-technical partners.
An ownership mindset - you help define the problem and move work forward; you don't wait for perfect requirements.
Why This Role
This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact problems across the business while helping shape how data science and analytics evolve within the organization. You'll have the autonomy to explore meaningful questions, influence strategy, and help build a stronger data-informed culture.
Compensation & Benefits
We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $140,000-$150,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment. In addition to base salary, this role includes an equity grant in the form of stock options, so you share in the success you help build.

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As part of our growing Data Science and Analytics team, you will play an instrumental role in our company’s mission of building safe and beneficial artificial intelligence by driving data-informed decision making across our organization. You bring experience from high-bar teams and are eager to help shape the norms and best practices of a growing data science team as Anthropic continues to scale. In this unique company, technology, and moment in history, your work will be critical to informing our strategy as we deploy safe, frontier AI at scale to the world.
You’ll be the senior data science leader embedded in our Developer Platform product team and a strategic thought partner to its product leads. You’ll help set product direction for the Claude Developer Platform, spanning our core API, agent orchestration, tool and MCP integrations, and knowledge management capabilities. You’ll bring a point of view on where to invest, how to grow our platform business, and how to deliver more value for the developers and enterprises building on Claude. As a tech lead manager, you’ll also manage a small team of Product Data Scientists, setting their agenda and raising the bar for how data shapes product decisions.
Responsibilities:
Act as a strategic thought partner to Developer Platform product leads, helping shape product strategy, roadmap priorities, and the major bets the team makes
Set the data science agenda for Developer Platform, deciding where the Product Data Science team can have the most impact and what it should deprioritize
Manage and develop a small team of Product Data Scientists, coaching them to move from answering questions to shaping decisions
Frame the most important and ambiguous questions facing the platform, from how developers and enterprises adopt it to how AI agents are being built and deployed at scale, size the opportunities, and make clear recommendations, including when they challenge the current direction
Define how Developer Platform measures success, establishing the core metrics and measurement frameworks that align teams and leadership on what matters
Set the standard for experimentation and causal inference across Developer Platform, including where API and B2B products make clean experiments hard, and personally lead the highest-stakes analyses
Turn complex analyses into clear narratives and recommendations that drive decisions with senior leadership and cross-functional partners, including go-to-market teams
Establish foundational data practices and shape the analytics infrastructure Developer Platform needs to support rapid iteration and decision-making as our products grow
You may be a good fit if you:
Have extensive experience in data science, including leading analytics for a product area at significant scale
Have 3+ years managing data science teams, including setting team direction and developing senior data scientists
Have been a trusted partner to senior product and business leaders on API or developer-facing products, with clear examples of changing a roadmap or high-stakes decision
Bring strong product sense and business judgment for developer and B2B products, including the ability to frame the right question and take a position with incomplete information
Have deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling at high scale, with enough fluency in Python and SQL to stay hands-on and guide others’ technical work
Communicate clearly in writing and in presentations, including to executive audiences
Have a bias for action and thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you must create clarity and drive progress
Care about the company’s mission of building helpful, honest, and harmless AI
Strong candidates may also have:
Experience with AI/ML products, large language models, or developer tools in the AI/ML ecosystem

We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural / Architectural Project Coordinator to support a large-scale and technically complex hydric development project combining residential and commercial components.
This role is heavily focused on multidisciplinary technical coordination, constructability review, and execution readiness across architectural, structural steel, and MEP scopes. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between disciplines, ensuring all project documentation and detailing are fully coordinated before reaching construction and contractor implementation stages.
This is not a pure drafting or modeling position. We are looking for a senior-level professional with strong real-world construction understanding, capable of proactively identifying coordination gaps, clashes, missing information, and constructability issues before they impact execution.
The position is intended to be long-term and integrated into ongoing project coordination workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate technical information between structural steel, architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
Review and validate that detailing and documentation align with architectural intent and construction requirements.
Identify clashes, constructability issues, missing details, and coordination conflicts prior to execution.
Ensure multidisciplinary documentation is fully coordinated before reaching contractors and site implementation.
Support BIM coordination and clash detection workflows across disciplines.
Collaborate closely with project teams, consultants, and contractors to maintain consistency and execution clarity.
Anticipate field and execution-related issues from a practical construction perspective.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in multidisciplinary project coordination within architecture, structural engineering, or construction environments.
Strong experience coordinating structural steel, architectural, and MEP documentation.
Solid understanding of construction workflows, technical documentation, and constructability principles.
Practical exposure to U.S. construction standards, project workflows, and contractor coordination.
Experience working on technically complex commercial, mixed-use, industrial, residential, or large-scale projects.
Strong ability to proactively identify and resolve coordination and execution issues.
Comfortable working in highly collaborative BIM-driven environments.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Technical Requirements
Revit
AutoCAD
BIM coordination workflows
Clash detection workflows (Navisworks experience is highly valuable)
Strong technical documentation review capabilities
Benefits
Work for the most exciting companies in the North American Market.
Flexible schedules.
Work from anywhere.
Highly competitive compensation.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
We are hiring Support Engineers to serve as the named, dedicated Product Support point of contact for Anthropic's most strategic enterprise customers. As a Support Engineer, you'll be providing high-touch, deeply contextual support to a defined book of accounts — embedded in your customers' shared channels, known by name to their stakeholders, and partnering closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Applied AI as the technical support voice on the account team.
You'll bring deep knowledge of how each of your customers is built on Claude to every interaction, so you can investigate, diagnose, and resolve their most complex technical needs with nuance and speed — and ensure the right internal teams are engaged when needed.
Responsibilities
Serve as the named technical support contact for a defined book of strategic enterprise accounts, embedded in customer channels and joining recurring account cadences as the support voice
Own your customers' technical support needs end to end — investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex issues directly, and partner with internal Engineering and Product teams to drive resolution when needed
Build deep, durable context on each customer's architecture, integrations, and use cases so you can respond with nuance rather than from a script
Partner closely with the Customer Success Manager, Account Executive, and Applied AI team on each account as part of a single, coordinated account team
Capture technical feedback and product friction from your accounts and route it to Product with the impact data and detail needed to prioritize it correctly
Manage high-urgency issues for your accounts with extreme ownership, and coordinate cleanly with the broader Product Support team for continuous coverage
Help build the foundations of the Support Engineer function — runbooks, escalation paths, tooling, and the metrics we'll use to measure its value
Become an expert in all Anthropic products across the API, Claude for Enterprise, and Claude Code
You may be a good fit if you
Have 5+ years in technical product support, with meaningful time in an escalated, priority, or named-account support team for enterprise customers
Have been the person an enterprise customer knows by name and reaches for first when they need technical help
Are deeply fluent with APIs and technical SaaS products, and can read technical documentation, error logs, and request traces with ease
Have hands-on experience troubleshooting SSO, SAML, OAuth, and enterprise authentication flows
Are persistent and curious — you delight in the hunt of tracking down a bug, and are energized by fixing it for every similar user going forward
Possess strong user empathy and crisp, kind written communication; you can translate between a frustrated customer engineer and an internal platform team without losing either
Are comfortable operating in ambiguity, making informed decisions in never-before-seen situations, and knowing when to pull the escalation cord
Enjoy building trust and collaborating closely with go-to-market partners (Sales, CS, Applied AI) without owning the commercial relationship yourself
Have contributed to the foundations of a support team before — the essential, often unglamorous work of writing the first runbook
Are excited about Anthropic's products and the opportunity to shape how the world's largest companies get support for them
Strong candidates may also have
SQL proficiency for querying logs and usage data to investigate issues
Comfort with command line interfaces and basic scripting (Bash, Python, JavaScript)
Understanding of LLM capabilities, prompt engineering patterns, and current limitations
Familiarity with enterprise networking concepts, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), and IT environments
Experience working inside a customer's shared Slack or similar embedded-support model
Background as a Technical Account Manager, Support Engineer, or Designated/Premier Support contact at a developer-platform or infrastructure company

Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US.
As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations.
Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow.
THE OPPORTUNITY
At Synthesia we really care about video generation, especially about human centric avatar video generation. This led us to release models such as EXPRESS-Video https://synthesiaresearch.github.io/express-video/, and soon our latest video model - these are the best avatar video models in the world, and we are committed to continuing and double down our efforts in leading that area. Our goal is to get to human centric video models that can generate arbitrary long videos at high resolution with arbitrary actions and events. That means continuously training large generative video models from scratch with the proprietary data pipelines and compute infrastructure to support it at scale. We are looking for a technical leader who owns the full stack end-to-end, someone who bridges pre-training and post-training, sets long-term direction alongside research leadership, and is personally present at the hardest parts of the work. If building foundation model capability from the ground up at a company genuinely committed to leading the field sounds like the right next challenge, this role was written for you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Synthesia's video generation capability is core to everything we ship. It involves roughly 15 people working daily across pre-training and post-training stages, and the complexity of coordinating across those stages, at the scale of compute and data we now operate, requires a different kind of technical leadership.
We're looking for a Principal Research Engineer (L7) to own the full technical stack for offline video generation. This is a senior individual contributor position with outsized scope and influence. You'll partner directly with research leadership and team leads to define long-term strategy, resolve the hardest cross-cutting technical problems, and raise the bar for how quickly research reaches product.
The person we're looking for has trained large generative models from scratch, not supervised it from a distance, but done it, debugged it, and shipped it. More than that, they're driven by a genuine ambition to push what's possible in video generation, and they care deeply about seeing that work land in product and reach users.
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end technical direction for offline video generation, spanning pre-training and post-training, resolving the artificial boundary between those two stages in service of shipping better models faster.
- Partner with research leadership and team leads to define a unified long-term roadmap, broken into achievable objectives, and drive execution against it.
- Identify the most critical technical gaps across the video generation pipeline and jump in to unblock them, whether that means architectural decisions, training stability, post-training alignment, or cross-team coordination.
- Increase the velocity at which research ships to product: accelerate problem-solving, improve research-to-production handoffs, and increase visibility of research output in partnership with PMs.
- Coach and elevate more junior researchers and engineers toward senior technical thinking and execution.
- Help shape team structure and refine processes to enable high-velocity, cohesive execution across research.
You'll thrive in this role if you have
- A proven track record training large-scale video generation models from scratch, across multiple nodes, at the scale of millions of hours of data.
- Deep experience with post-training techniques at scale: RLHF, GRPO, DPO, and the judgment to know when and how to apply them.
- A proven track record data quality and you are not reluctant to question it.
- The ability to think strategically about multi-year research direction and execute hands-on at the frontier of what the team is building.
- Strong cross-functional influence: you shape how teams work together without needing positional authority to do it.
- A leadership style grounded in technical involvement. You lead by example, inspire through craft, and communicate with clarity.
- Genuine hunger to unlock new capabilities and an obsession with shipping. You're not satisfied by research that stays in a notebook. You want it in the hands of users.
Particularly relevant experience
- Having owned a major model generation or capability jump end-to-end, from training runs through to product deployment.
- Working across both pre-training and post-training stages on the same model family, with direct accountability for the outcomes of both.
- Experience operating at scale: large distributed training runs, significant compute budgets, and multi-million hour data pipelines.
- Applying alignment and fine-tuning techniques in a video or multimodal context, not just text.
- Experience with human feedback pipelines applied to generative video or audio.
- Leading or significantly influencing the technical direction of a research team while remaining hands-on.
Dealbreakers
We will not be a good fit if you prefer to lead without staying technically involved, or if clear and direct communication across research and product isn't one of your strengths. This role requires presence at the frontier of the work, not above it. And if shipping doesn't excite you as much as the research itself, this probably isn't the right role.

GiveWell’s mission is to help people in need as much as we can by researching the most cost‑effective ways to save and improve lives, sharing our work openly, and directing donations to the programs we believe will do the most good. Our work, which focuses on global health and well-being, is funded by tens of thousands of donors who rely on our research to inform their giving. We’ve grown from directing $1.5 million in 2010 to directing more than $400 million in 2025. We anticipate our total grantmaking is likely to approach or even exceed $1 billion this year, and we are working toward a future that could be several times that scale. Through years of deliberate groundwork, we’ve been growing our research capacity and scope in order to direct substantially more funding to the most impactful opportunities we can find.
Summary
GiveWell is seeking a Senior New Areas Researcher to help direct tens of millions of dollars annually to the most cost-effective interventions we can find. You will have an outsized influence on our funding decisions and help us save and improve lives on a global scale.
The New Areas team grantmaking is divided into three workstreams: i) our core cause areas: areas for which we devote a significant amount of time developing subject-matter specific expertise and networks, a thorough research agenda, and a large portfolio of grants (e.g., family planning, maternal and newborn health, tuberculosis and HIV); ii) our emerging cause areas: a broader set of cause areas for which the New Areas team is starting to build its expertise, networks and research agenda, and is making some initial grants (e.g., medical oxygen, applications of AI to global health); and iii) our incubators: supporting the
Clinton Health Access Initiative’s Incubator
and
Evidence Action’s Accelerator
to identify potentially cost-effective interventions and create programs that we would be excited to support in the future.
As a Senior New Areas Researcher, you'll create and lead ambitious research agendas related to our portfolios of work and answer complex questions that will inform GiveWell's grantmaking decisions. The researchers on our team combine rigorous evidence review, cost-effectiveness modeling, and thoughtful judgment.
We're open to a wide variety of professional development pathways depending on your preferences and our needs.
The role
You will be joining a small grantmaking team to contribute to our ambitious research agenda on new areas. You'll sift through the countless questions we could try to answer, and hone in on those that matter most. You'll also communicate externally about your work and mentor and advise other researchers on the team.
You will shape a research agenda that brings rigor and creativity to the thorniest questions the GiveWell new areas team faces. Your work will combine empirical evidence review and critical synthesis, cost-effectiveness modeling, discussions with subject matter experts, understanding of the broader context, and your own judgment.
What you might work on in your first year:
Tackle thorny research questions in our existing portfolios.
For example: to what extent could programs which distribute oral rehydration solution to reduce diarrheal deaths inadvertently induce exclusively breastfed children to consume poor quality water? How can we estimate the risk of reinfection after a child has completed a course of tuberculosis preventive treatment? How can we account for these concerns in our cost-effectiveness estimates?
Design and oversee learning grants.
You'll help design impact evaluations for new and existing programs, and supervise researchers executing that work — from scoping the research question through to interpreting results and integrating them into our models.
Build our evidence base in new programmatic areas.
This includes synthesising existing research, commissioning new reviews, and in some cases funding primary data collection — with the goal of determining whether a new intervention meets GiveWell's cost-effectiveness bar and is ready for major grantmaking.
Provide research support to grantmakers.
You'll ensure our cost-effectiveness models reflect our best current understanding of the programs we fund — stress-testing assumptions, incorporating new data, and flagging where uncertainty is high enough to warrant further investigation.
The Senior New Areas Researcher will help shape a major annual grantmaking portfolio, own grant investigations end-to-end (from research question through grant recommendation), and represent GiveWell to external counterparts. You'll have significant latitude to propose new areas of work.
Team structure
Our research department has ~70 people, and is currently organized into eight teams:
Five of the teams (Livelihoods, Malaria, Nutrition, Vaccination, and Water) focus on specific areas of grantmaking.
The New Areas team focuses on interventions in domains that are new to GiveWell.
The Cross-Cutting team focuses on methodological issues, research quality, and other big-picture concerns that cut across all of our research work.
The Commons team provides generalized research support to each of the other teams, including landscaping research, vetting, and publishing.
Team values
We think our research team has unique qualities:
We care deeply and centrally about finding and sharing truth.
Truth-seeking is one of our
core values
. We post
our mistakes
and we prize our team members who keep our culture of free-flowing feedback strong.
We are independent.
We focus 100% on finding the most cost-effective opportunities to save and improve lives. Our researchers assist in communicating our research findings to the public and our donors, and on occasion we provide tailored advice to ultra-high-net-worth donors who want to rely on our expertise to direct their giving—but we never ask our researchers to trade off against honesty, or to hide their real beliefs.
We don’t waste time.
Once it’s clear that a particular research question is unlikely to change our bottom-line funding recommendation, we drop it as quickly as possible. We encourage our research staff to constantly re-evaluate their portfolios and only work on the highest-priority questions.
Lean research team = huge personal impact.
In 2026,
our research team of ~80 people is directing close to 1 billion dollars and we expect grantmaking dollars per research team member to increase in the future.
We work well together.
Our research team is lean because we’re able to attract top-tier people, all of whom complete skills-based assessments before joining our staff. We maintain a high-performing, collegial culture and pay our staff accordingly.
About you
We expect the Senior New Areas Researcher to have
A quantitatively oriented advanced degree (e.g., in epidemiology, public health, economics, or a related field).
Substantial professional experience in global health, or an adjacent field (broadly defined). This could include direct experience with program design, monitoring, or evaluation; epidemiology; cost-effectiveness modelling of health interventions; or work in program implementation or funding at a bilateral, multilateral, or NGO. We're especially interested in candidates who enjoy being generalists: you are able to get up to speed quickly on new topics and you feel comfortable task-switching.
We expect that people with the soft qualities below will be the most successful and happy on our team. This isn’t a full list, but hopefully it conveys the gist of our team’s professional personality:
GiveWell’s mission and methods are personally energizing—you like our approach to research and you find personal meaning in our story of impact.
You’re abnormally curious—you ask lots of questions, and you’re willing to interrogate others’ work. Your curiosity also extends to your own work—you aren’t defensive when your research comes under scrutiny.
You routinely think about and surface the value judgments, background knowledge, and strategic commitments that undergird your work. You understand the potential effects of mistaken mental models, so you strive to improve yours and your team’s.
You dislike it when people express strong confidence in views that don’t seem to rely on commensurate evidence. You carefully and legibly communicate about your confidence levels.
You appreciate the value of an excellent reputation and strong relationships. You can moderate your directness and intensity when you’re communicating with external folks.
You love a
gnarly problem
. You figure out the most important questions to answer, go deep on the details where they matter (and move on where they don’t), and reassess your mental models based on what you’ve learned.
You constantly assess whether you and the team are working on the most important things.
If you’re interested in working on GiveWell’s research team but don’t have new areas expertise, consider applying to our generalist
Senior Researcher
role, or our Researcher role if you have limited post-graduation experience.

International: Similar to the “all other U.S. locations” salary, based on historical exchange rates and delivered in locally-denominated currency. We can share a precise figure upon request after the first work trial stage.
Benefits:
Our
benefits
include:
Fully funded health, dental, vision, and life insurance (we cover 100% of premiums within the US for you and any dependents)
Four weeks of paid time off per year, plus a one week organization-wide summer break
16 weeks of fully paid parental leave

Automatic contribution equal to 5% of your gross salary into your 403(b) retirement plan (for U.S. based staff)
Countries we can hire from:
GiveWell is a remote-first organization. However, for the time being, we can only hire within a select number of countries (US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, and Germany). To be considered for a role with GiveWell, you need to already be based in one of those countries or be willing to move to one of them. We expect to expand the list of locations where we can hire over the course of 2027, and our job descriptions always reflect the current status — so we'd encourage you to check back and apply again for a role you're eligible for.
Visa sponsorship:
The US is the only country where visa sponsorship is possible for a number of roles, and it's assessed on a case by case basis. For all other countries, you need to already have work authorization, we cannot sponsor visas.
Why we work this way:
Focusing on countries where we already have tested onboarding processes lets us move candidates through hiring faster and with fewer surprises. Every additional country brings its own labor laws, EOR requirements, and new processes to work through, which slows things down for hiring teams and new colleagues alike. Concentrating our footprint keeps the experience consistent and supports GiveWell’s wider absorption capacity goals.
Flexibility:
We support and encourage flexible working, including flexible hours, working remotely, and working from the office when you choose. The majority of our staff, including senior management, work flexibly in one way or another.
Travel:
Research team members are sometimes required to attend international site visits and conferences (on average 1-2 per year), with additional travel for those interested in traveling more. Additionally, we strongly encourage staff members to attend quarterly whole-org and department retreats to bond with other team members and complete in-person work. We'll discuss travel obligations in more detail during late stages of the hiring process, and we’ll accommodate staff who have conflicting family or other obligations.
Start date:
We’d like a candidate to start as soon as possible after receiving an offer, but we’ll offer flexibility for candidates whose personal or professional circumstances require them to moderately delay their start date.
Miscellaneous details:
Please apply to only one Senior Researcher posting. If you have deep expertise in this area, this pod-specific role is the right fit. If not, there's no need to apply here — our generalist Senior Researcher role is designed for strong researchers who don't have a single specialization, and you don't need to apply to both. Applying to the generalist role won't put you at any disadvantage!
After application review, our hiring process consists of a short application exercise and up to 15 hours of compensated work trials. You can see more details about our hiring process on our
FAQs page
!
We devote significant staff capacity to initial application review, and we respond to all applications as quickly as possible.
We have a strong preference for full-time applicants, but we’ll consider applications for part-time work. We aren’t interested in reviewing applications for contract or project-based work at this time.
If we settle on an application deadline, we’ll write it in bold here. If you’re on our website job posting and don’t see a deadline, there is no deadline. If you’re reading this on an external job board and don’t see a deadline, you should double-check on our
website
.
You don't need to submit a cover letter—we rely mainly on your resume and answers to the application questions below when we're making early decisions.
About GiveWell
GiveWell is dedicated to finding and evaluating highly cost-effective global health and development opportunities, and we publish all the work, reasoning, and uncertainties behind our funding decisions. Our
giving funds
enable donors to contribute to the most impactful and cost-effective programs our researchers identify.
GiveWell is one of the world’s largest private funders of global development efforts. Trusted annually by tens of thousands of donors, GiveWell searches for highly cost-effective programs that save or improve lives the most. Since 2007, more than 150,000 donors have given over $2.6 billion through GiveWell to the most promising programs its research has identified, which we estimate will save more than
340,000 lives
.
GiveWell is most well-known for recommending a small number of
Top Charities
, which currently support
seasonal malaria chemoprevention
,
insecticide-treated nets
,
vaccine incentivization
, and
vitamin A supplementation
. However, most of our research capacity and grantmaking is devoted to
cost-effective opportunities outside of those programs
.
GiveWell
grants
have:
Helped governments
navigate changes to the funding landscape
and implement high-impact health programs, like
HIV/syphilis screening and treatment
for pregnant people in Zambia and Cameroon.
Sought to scope and scale promising interventions that don’t have clear existing implementers. We are supporting the
Clinton Health Access Initiative’s Incubator
to identify potentially cost-effective interventions and create programs that we would be excited to support in the future. For example, we
funded a program
to prevent tuberculosis among young children in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, India, that we co-designed with CHAI through the Incubator program.
Provided funding to ensure that programs that recently faced foreign aid funding cuts could continue, like
healthcare support and malnutrition treatment
in northern Cameroon.
Funded program delivery alongside strengthened monitoring and evaluation, as in our grants to support
treatment of clubfoot
and to
evaluate the program
.
Tested our
assumptions and refined our understanding
through further research and data collection, including
improved estimates of disease burden
and studies on
the effect of water chlorination on mortality
and
the impact of a tree-planting program on farmers’ income
.
We make our reasoning public and transparent so others can challenge it (sometimes we even
pay people to point out our errors
). We go to unusual lengths to check our assumptions and assess our impact, including
funding research
to address our uncertainties and gathering
independent monitoring and evaluation data
about the programs we support. We
change
our minds when the evidence demands it. For more about GiveWell, listen to Ezra Klein’s
recent interview
with GiveWell’s co-founder and CEO Elie Hassenfeld.

We don’t want to miss candidates that could do great things at GiveWell. Practically, that means a GiveWell staff member reviews every application carefully, considering the whole picture of your background and potential. If you’re on the fence about applying because you meet some but not 100% of our preferred qualifications (some studies suggest this hesitation is especially common for women and people of color), we encourage you to apply anyway.
GiveWell is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer by choice. At minimum, this means that we comply with all federal, state, and local EEO and employment laws.
