ABOUT THE PUBLIC SECTOR TEAM
- Sierra recently received FedRAMP High https://sierra.ai/blog/certified-fedramp-high certification, enabling us to bring our industry-leading technology to partners in the US public sector. We’re now building our founding public sector team to redefine the relationship between the government and its citizenry.
- Today, our agents already enable citizens to access social services, report fraud, and understand complex government systems. Simultaneously, they empower government officials to better hear the concerns and inquiries of their constituencies.
- We are explicitly nonpartisan and committed to empowering public servants to leverage AI to advance their important missions.
- In our journey, we are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and Family. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build Sierra’s public sector business: Own a portfolio of strategic Federal, state or local government accounts, develop territory and account plans, build qualified pipeline, and consistently achieve or exceed revenue targets.
- Create opportunities around mission outcomes: Develop trusted relationships with agency leaders, program executives, technology teams, procurement officials, and other stakeholders. Translate priorities such as constituent access, service delivery, workforce effectiveness, and program integrity into compelling AI agent opportunities.
- Lead complex sales cycles from discovery through award: Orchestrate executive alignment, solution development, business cases, security and legal reviews, pricing, proposal strategy, negotiation, and close across long, multi-stakeholder government buying processes.
- Design the path to contract: Understand how each customer can buy and shape a practical acquisition strategy early. Navigate direct awards, competitive solicitations, pilots, task orders, and contract vehicles—including GSA schedules, GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, state schedules, and cooperative purchasing agreements—as relevant to the opportunity.
- Build and execute capture plans: Qualify opportunities with discipline; map decision-makers, influencers, incumbents, competitors, funding sources, fiscal-year timing, acquisition milestones, and win themes; and lead the internal cadence required to move from early demand to award.
- Develop Sierra’s partner ecosystem: Build productive relationships with prime contractors, systems integrators, resellers, distributors, small-business partners, and other technology providers. Know when Sierra should sell directly, participate as a subcontractor, establish a teaming arrangement, or pursue a partner-led transaction—and align incentives and responsibilities accordingly.
- Shape prime and teaming relationships: Identify where Sierra can strengthen a prime contractor’s solution and where partners can provide customer access, past performance, implementation capacity, or a procurement pathway. Negotiate clear account alignment, deal registration, workshare, and go-to-market plans that create durable value for the customer and Sierra.
- Run high-quality bids and proposals: Partner with public sector leadership, legal, security, product, engineering, and delivery teams on RFIs, RFPs, sources sought, oral presentations, and other procurement responses. Make thoughtful bid/no-bid recommendations and ensure every submission is compliant, differentiated, and precise.
- Operate as part of the customer’s team: Earn trust across senior agency leadership and working teams by understanding the mission, communicating candidly, and remaining accountable from the first meeting through deployment and expansion.
- Help build the public sector go-to-market motion: As an early member of the team, improve our account segmentation, capture process, partner strategy, contract-vehicle roadmap, forecasting, and repeatable sales playbooks. Bring market signals back to product and company leadership to help shape Sierra’s platform and public sector strategy.
- Operate as an AI-native seller: Use AI throughout the sales cycle—from account research and personalized outreach to call synthesis, opportunity planning, proposal development, and forecasting—so you can spend more time on judgment, strategy, and customer relationships.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Meaningful enterprise technology sales or business development experience, including significant experience selling software, cloud, data, or AI solutions to U.S. government customers.
- A demonstrated record of building pipeline, exceeding quota, and closing complex six- and seven-figure opportunities with long sales cycles and multiple technical, mission, executive, and procurement stakeholders.
- Strong fluency in government acquisition and procurement, including funding and budget cycles, competitive solicitations, proposal processes, task orders, and common Federal or state contract vehicles.
- Experience developing and executing capture strategies before a solicitation is released—not simply responding once an RFP is public.
- A strong network and demonstrated ability to work with government technology partners, including prime contractors, systems integrators, resellers, distributors, and small-business teaming partners.
- Sound judgment about direct, channel, prime/subcontractor, and teaming models, with the ability to select and execute the right path for a particular agency and opportunity.
- The ability to build credibility with agency executives, program leaders, contracting and procurement officials, security teams, and technical stakeholders—and to align those groups around a shared path forward.
- Excellent executive communication, negotiation, account planning, and forecasting skills. You are rigorous about details, procurement milestones, and next steps.
- A passion for public sector work and a belief in the potential of government institutions to improve outcomes for the people they serve.
- Comfort operating with high ownership in an early-stage business: you create structure where it does not yet exist, move with urgency, and collaborate deeply across functions.
EVEN BETTER...
- Experience helping launch or scale a public sector business for a high-growth software company.
- Established relationships across Federal civilian agencies, state governments, or the government contractor and systems integrator ecosystem.
- Familiarity with the FAR and related acquisition frameworks, government cloud and security requirements, and the commercial implications of FedRAMP High.
- Experience shaping and closing outcome-based, usage-based, or other nontraditional software agreements in the public sector.
- Experience with AI, conversational systems, customer experience technology, contact centers, or digital government services—and the ability to speak credibly with both mission and technical leaders.
- Experience operating alongside founders or senior executives in high-stakes customer and partner engagements.
OUR VALUES
- Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.
- Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.
- Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.
- Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.
- Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements.

The Purchase team sits within GitLab's Monetization section and owns the end-to-end purchase experience for all GitLab products, including new purchases, add-ons, upgrades, and self-service promotional discounts. As a Staff Fullstack Engineer, you’ll work across the frontend and backend to build the interfaces customers use to buy and expand GitLab, along with the services that process transactions and integrate with billing and customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Because this work can directly affect revenue and involve confidential or financial information, you’ll use strong technical judgment, roll out changes safely and iteratively, and maintain a high bar for reliability and correctness.
This is a technical leadership role for the Purchase team. You’ll help set the technical direction for a unified purchase flow, mentor other engineers, and partner with Product, Design, Billing, and Support to improve how customers buy and grow with GitLab. This role reports to the Engineering Manager, Purchase.
Some examples of our projects:
Unifying separate purchase flows into one consistent purchase experience
Building and scaling GitLab Flex subscription flows that let customers reserve spend month to month across seats, artificial intelligence (AI) credits, Runners, and other GitLab capabilities without renegotiating their contract
Evolving self-service promotional discounts for existing and prospective customers
Modernizing the purchase frontend to improve clarity, accessibility, and conversion
Strengthening integrations between the purchase flow and downstream billing and CRM systems for accuracy and resilience
What you’ll do
Design and build fullstack features across the purchase journey.
Lead technical design for new purchasing capabilities and the unified purchase experience.
Partner with Product and Design to turn purchasing requirements into resilient, well-tested technical solutions.
Ensure purchase flows integrate correctly and safely with downstream billing and CRM systems.
Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, rollout safety, and monitoring.
Mentor engineers and review merge requests with thoughtful, constructive feedback.
Identify and reduce technical debt and architectural risk in the purchase experience.
Participate in incident response for purchase-related issues because of their direct revenue impact.
What you’ll bring
Professional fullstack engineering experience across frontend and backend code; our purchase applications use Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.
Experience owning technical direction for a product area and driving thorough, iterative solutions.
Experience building or maintaining transactional or checkout-style flows, ideally in billing, ecommerce, or subscriptions.
A strong bias toward safe, incremental delivery given the revenue and customer impact of this work.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems.
Proficiency in written and verbal English sufficient for success in a remote, largely asynchronous work environment.
Alignment with GitLab’s values and a commitment to working in accordance with them.
Familiarity with third-party billing or CRM systems, such as Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe, is a plus.
About the team
We partner with Sales, Finance, Information Technology, and Support to deliver secure and reliable purchasing, billing, provisioning, and utilization workflows. Our broader organization includes the Subscription Lifecycle, Billing Engine, Platform and Infrastructure, Observability, Monitoring and Integrations, and Compliance teams. We work asynchronously, with regular planning and retrospectives and a high bar for ownership across deployments, incident management, testing, and rollout safety.

In January 2026, we closed a $250M Series C led by ICONIQ, valuing Rain at $1.95B, with Sapphire Ventures, Dragonfly, Bessemer Venture Partners, Galaxy Ventures, FirstMark, Lightspeed, Norwest, and Endeavor Catalyst also participating. If you're curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial future, we'd love to talk.
OUR ETHOS
We believe in an open and flat structure. You will be able to grow into the role that most aligns with your goals. Our team members at all levels have the freedom to explore ideas and impact the roadmap and vision of our company.
ABOUT THE TEAM
We are hiring a VP of Engineering to own the craft, quality, and technical direction of our roughly 50-person engineering organization as we enter our next stage of growth. We expect to approximately double the size of the team, and we’re looking for a leader who has successfully scaled a high-performing engineering organization while maintaining an exceptionally high technical bar.
This isn’t a role focused on adding headcount for the sake of growth. We want someone who can thoughtfully scale the team, strengthen the systems that move real money, and make our engineers significantly more effective as the organization grows. This leader should be deeply technical and genuinely engaged in the code, architecture, and engineering decisions—not operating adjacent to them.
You will lead through a mix of direct reports and a small group of engineering managers and tech leads, partnering closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance. You will spend your time on design reviews, incident retros, hiring, and the handful of technical bets that determine whether we can support the next order of magnitude of transaction volume.
If your ideal week is entirely calendar blocks and roadmap decks, this is not the right role. If your ideal week includes a hard design debate, a code review that changes someone's mind, and a coaching conversation that raises a manager's ceiling, keep reading.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own engineering strategy and architecture across card issuing, wallets, ledger, money movement, onchain settlement, and integrations with card networks and banking partners — including the multi-year technical roadmap that gets us there.
- Set and own Rain's engineering quality bar across system design, code review, testing, observability, documentation, and technical decision-making, ensuring correctness is treated as critical for systems that move customer funds.
- Go deep where the risk is. You won't own day-to-day code, but you will review critical designs, weigh in on the highest-consequence architecture and build-vs.-buy decisions, and be technical enough that no one can hand you a bad design and have it pass.
- Drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence by establishing SLOs, improving incident response, capacity planning for 10x growth, and designing resilient systems with graceful degradation, idempotency, and replay capabilities.
- Build security, compliance, and correctness into the platform by design, partnering closely with Risk, Compliance, and Security to meet PCI, SOC 2, fraud-control, regulatory, and blockchain infrastructure requirements.
- Increase engineering velocity without sacrificing quality through improvements to CI/CD, developer tooling, local environments, technical debt management, and architecture that enables teams to ship safely and independently.
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering organization by hiring and coaching engineering managers and technical leads, establishing clear team ownership and boundaries, and owning headcount planning and the performance bar.
- Operate as a member of the leadership team — translating company strategy into technical plans, partnering across Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and GTM, and representing engineering to the board, banking and network partners, and customers.
YOU ARE LIKELY TO SUCCEED IF YOU HAVE:
- 15+ years building production software, including 8+ years leading engineers and meaningful time leading managers.
- Current technical credibility. You have written or reviewed meaningful production code recently enough that an architecture review is a place you add value, not a place you nod along.
- Deep experience with distributed backend systems at scale: data modeling, consistency and idempotency, queues and event-driven design, and the operational reality of running all of it.
- A track record of raising an engineering bar. You can point to specific practices you introduced and the measurable change in quality, velocity, or reliability that followed.
- Real reliability ownership — you have carried a pager, run incident command during a serious outage, and built the follow-through that kept it from recurring.
- Experience in payments, fintech, banking infrastructure, or another domain where money, ledgers, or regulatory obligations made correctness non-negotiable.
- You have hired and developed engineering managers, not only engineers. There are leaders you grew who would come work for you again.
- Clear written communication. You can make a complex technical tradeoff legible to a CEO, a compliance officer, and a partner's engineering team in the same week.
- Executive range. You are as comfortable in a board or partner conversation as you are in a design review, and you can hold a technical position under commercial pressure.
- Comfort with ambiguity and speed. You would rather ship something correct this quarter than design something perfect for next year.
BONUS ATTRIBUTES:
- Hands-on experience with card issuing, processing, or the Visa and Mastercard network stack.
- Working knowledge of stablecoins, onchain settlement, custody and key management, or EVM and Solana infrastructure.
- Experience operating under SOC 2, PCI DSS, or bank and program-manager oversight.
- Experience leading distributed or multi-region teams.

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ramp Economics Lab is the go-to source for understanding how businesses spend on and adopt AI. Built on Ramp’s $200B+ business spend dataset, our flagship Ramp AI Index https://ramp.com/data/ai-index tracks the AI economy through actual business spend data. We help CFOs and finance teams understand what these trends mean for their businesses, and our research is regularly cited by outlets including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg. You will work with Ara Kharazian https://www.linkedin.com/in/akharazian/, lead economist.
We’re hiring an analytical, resourceful researcher to own and expand this work: run the Ramp AI Index, develop new metrics on AI spending and adoption, explore questions about AI ROI, and extend our research internationally. You’ll turn findings into clear reports, charts, presentations, and interactive tools that help CFOs and finance teams make better decisions.
You will also build our customer-facing research function: developing Ramp’s outlook on AI, meeting with customers and prospects, and translating our data into practical recommendations for business planning, budgeting, and AI strategy. You’ll partner with the growth team to package and distribute this work through reports, web content, presentations, and events that reach finance leaders.
This role combines economic judgment, applied data science, public writing, data visualization, and executive communication. You should be able to move from an important question to credible analysis, a clear visual or argument, and advice a business leader can act on.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical role, such as investment banking, equity or industry research, consulting, business operations, data science, or economics. We care about evidence of strong analysis, clear communication, and ownership across projects.
- Strong perspectives on the economics of AI, economic policy, new media, and writing
- Strong knowledge of SQL
- Familiarity with BI tools (preferably Looker, Omni, Sigma, Hex or equivalent) and experience distributing data insights via reports and dashboards
- Track record of shipping high-quality research, writing, and thought leadership under short, non-academic timelines
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly improving, start-up environment that focuses on solving problems with iterative technical solutions
- Active reader of the news in economics, business, and AI trends
- An advanced user of AI for data science, and an eye for good charts and web design (we vibecode ramp.com/data http://ramp.com/data ourselves)
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Experience with the modern data stack (Fivetran / Snowflake / dbt / Looker / Hightouch or equivalents)
- Experience within the payments and financial technology space
