ABOUT THE ROLE
The Backend Platform team is the backbone of Perplexity’s product reliability, scalability, and performance, enabling every product and AI team to build with confidence.
This high‑impact group builds and maintains critical infrastructure, including backend systems for authentication, authorization, real-time data flows, service orchestration, and sandboxing, to ensure fast, reliable, and secure user experiences. By setting rigorous standards for code quality, uptime and performance, the Platform team ensures everyone at Perplexity can innovate at speed on top of a robust, well-architected foundation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and implementation of our sandboxing platform to safely execute untrusted and user‑generated code while meeting strict performance and reliability requirements.
- Define and extend our RBAC and authorization primitives, ensuring they scale with new product capabilities and enterprise controls.
- Own key backend services involved in authentication and encryption flows (including BYOK‑related pieces), partnering with Security and Infra on defense‑in‑depth.
- Set the technical bar for backend platform design and operations, driving best practices in reliability, observability, and incident response for always‑on systems.
- Partner with product and AI teams to define clear platform interfaces, SLAs, and integration patterns so new features can reliably build on shared backend capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership across the backend platform area, mentoring other engineers and making long‑term architectural decisions that keep the foundation simple, secure, and evolvable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing and building backend systems that run in production (typically 4+ years for mid-level, more for senior and staff).
- Strong system design skills, with a track record of creating efficient, reliable, and scalable architectures.
- Hands-on experience with modern infrastructure (for example AWS, Kubernetes, and related cloud technologies).
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-language environment.
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to solve challenging technical problems with other experienced engineers.
- Comfort working in security‑sensitive areas (auth, authorization, encryption) and making pragmatic trade-offs between safety, simplicity, and velocity.
If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t match every qualification listed above.
Location: San Francisco; Palo Alto; New York City
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Data Platform team owns the end-to-end data lifecycle at Perplexity, from ingestion through processing, storage, and serving, powering product features, analytics, experimentation, AI workloads, and the company’s data lake.
The team defines the architecture for batch and streaming systems, the orchestration and observability stack, and a self-serve data platform, while thoughtfully combining platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake with open-source technologies including Spark, Kafka, Flink, Airflow, Dagster, dbt, Iceberg, Delta Lake, and ClickHouse.
In this senior/staff role, you will shape architecture, set standards, and drive the long-term technical direction of Perplexity’s data ecosystem.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and operate large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines that directly power Perplexity product features, AI training and evaluation workflows, analytics, and experimentation.
- Build event-driven and streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis, PubSub, or similar) for real-time ingestion, transformation, and delivery, alongside batch frameworks for backfills, aggregations, and offline computation.
- Lead the architecture of data orchestration using tools like Airflow or Dagster, owning scheduling, dependency management, retries, SLAs, and end-to-end observability for critical data flows.
- Set and enforce guarantees for data correctness, freshness, lineage, and recoverability, designing systems that handle rapid scale growth, partial failures, and evolving schemas without disrupting AI workloads or product experiences.
- Build self-serve data platforms that let engineers, data scientists, and analysts safely discover data, define contracts, and create and operate their own pipelines with minimal friction.
- Improve developer experience through better abstractions, opinionated paved paths, and standards for data modeling, testing, validation, and deployment, treating the data platform as a product used by many teams.
- Drive architectural decisions across storage, compute, orchestration, and data APIs, partnering closely with product engineering and data science to align the data ecosystem with Perplexity’s roadmap.
- Mentor engineers, review designs, and raise the technical bar for data infrastructure through thoughtful feedback, documentation, and hands-on collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Staff) of software engineering experience.
- Strong experience building production data infrastructure systems.
- Hands-on experience with batch and/or streaming data processing at scale.
- Deep familiarity with data orchestration systems (Airflow, Dagster, or similar).
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional backend language (Go, TypeScript, etc.).
- Strong systems thinking around reliability, latency, cost, and complexity tradeoffs.
- Experience supporting ML/AI workflows, training pipelines, or evaluation systems.
- Familiarity with data quality, lineage, observability, and governance tooling.
- Prior ownership of internal platforms used by many teams.
If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t match every qualification listed above.

We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

ABOUT US
Constructor is the next-generation platform for search and discovery in ecommerce, built to explicitly optimize for metrics like revenue, conversion rate, and profit. Our search engine is entirely invented in-house utilizing transformers and generative LLMs, and we use its core and personalization capabilities to power everything from search itself to recommendations to shopping agents. Engineering is by far our largest department, and we’ve built our proprietary engine to be the best on the market, having never lost an A/B test to a competitive technology. We’re passionate about maintaining this and work on the bleeding edge of AI to do so.
Out of necessity, our engine is built for extreme scale and powers over 1 billion queries every day across 150 languages and roughly 100 countries. It is used by some of the biggest ecommerce companies in the world like Sephora, Under Armour, and Petco.
We’re a passionate team who love solving problems and want to make our customers’ and coworkers’ lives better. We value empathy, openness, curiosity, continuous improvement, and are excited by metrics that matter. We believe that empowering everyone in a company to do what they do best can lead to great things.
Constructor is a U.S. based company that has been in the market since 2019. It was founded by Eli Finkelshteyn and Dan McCormick who still lead the company today.
ABOUT YOU
You're a product designer who owns problems, not screens. You're comfortable with ambiguity, can partner with PMs to shape direction, and know how to translate research insights into production-ready interfaces, working closely with engineers. You ship work that matters.
THE TEAM
Our AI Agent Tools team is building a new category of e-commerce experience: intelligent agents that guide shoppers, learn from merchandiser expertise, and drive real business outcomes. This is one of the most consequential design problems in retail right now, and it's wide open.
REQUIREMENTS
The Role
You'll be designing the future of product discovery: the moment a shopper goes from intent to purchase, reimagined through AI.
- You'll define what agentic shopping looks like — Not just chatbots bolted onto search, but genuinely new interaction patterns where AI understands what a shopper wants and helps them get there. There's no established playbook here. The patterns you set will shape how the rest of the industry approaches it.
- You'll shape how merchandisers control it — You will collaborate with Agent Orchestrators—professionals blending data analysis, design, and shopper psychology—to design the dashboard tools that allow them to configure, train, and optimize new shopping journeys without engineering support.
- You'll prove it works in the real world — From running UI experiments on live retailer sites to validating new shopping experiences with actual shopper data, your designs ship and get measured.
What You'll Own
- Research & validation — Conducting shopper research and running experiments alongside product and data teams to validate hypotheses with real input.
- Interaction design for agentic experiences — Mapping novel user flows where AI/LLMs drive the shopping journey, for both shoppers and the merchandisers who orchestrate them.
- Visual strategy — Defining a bold design direction that represents what product discovery looks like in 2027.
- High-fidelity delivery — Producing final mockups and assets across key surfaces: homepage, search, PDP, filtering, guided shopping, and agent configuration.
- UX patterns — Ensuring designs scale within Constructor's evolving design system and component library.
What We Value Beyond Craft
Beyond being a thoughtful designer, user advocate, and strong collaborator, here are a few things we really value:
- A goal-oriented, iterative mindset — You focus on solving high-impact problems and are comfortable learning, improving, and shipping quickly.
- Practical experience with research — You’ve led user interviews, usability tests, and data analysis.
- Experience designing for unfamiliar problems — You’ve worked on products where you had to understand complex workflows outside your own experience—especially in B2B contexts.
- Systems thinking — You spot patterns, define systems, and design scalable, reusable solutions.
BENEFITS
- 🧠 Work with smart and empathetic people who will help you grow and make a meaningful impact.
- 🎉 Regular team offsite events to connect and collaborate.
- 🌎 Fully remote team - choose where you live.
- 🏝️ Unlimited vacation time - we strongly encourage all of our employees take at least 3 weeks per year.
- 🛋️ Work from home stipend! We want you to have the resources you need to set up your home office.
- 💻 Apple laptops provided for new employees.
- 🧑🎓 Training and development budget for every employee, refreshed each year.
- 👪 Maternity & Paternity leave for qualified employees.
- 📈 Stock options - offered in addition to the base salary

Why This Role
This role is a critical part of how modern AI systems are built. The data you produce directly impacts how speech and voice models understand and interact with real users.
It’s a great entry point into AI operations, offering exposure to large-scale systems and the opportunity to build foundational experience in data, language, and AI workflows.
Location: London, UK
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
As the EMEA AE Lead, Beneficial Deployments at Anthropic, you'll build and lead a foundational sales team driving Claude adoption across mission-driven organisations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You'll leverage your consultative sales expertise and passion for social impact to secure strategic partnerships with nonprofits, foundations, INGOs, educational institutions, and social enterprises across the EMEA market.
This is a player-coach role requiring someone who can personally close complex deals while building a high-performing regional team. You'll operate with significant autonomy across time zones while maintaining tight alignment with global strategy. Our team and verticals are evolving rapidly—the ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, is energised by building from scratch, and can flex across changing priorities as we learn what works.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the EMEA nonprofit or social impact technology landscape, established relationships with mission-driven institutions, and a proven track record of building teams that drive revenue and mission impact simultaneously.
Role Focus
This role will lead EMEA sales efforts across Beneficial Deployments verticals, which currently include:
Nonprofits & Foundations:
INGOs, charitable trusts, foundations, and social enterprises across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Navigate federated organisational structures, EU/UK regulatory requirements, and diverse funding mechanisms.
Emerging Markets:
Partnerships in Africa and India with organisations driving social impact at scale.
Note: Verticals and priorities may evolve as the team learns and grows. We're looking for someone comfortable with a shifting remit who can help shape what this role becomes.
Responsibilities
Win new business and drive revenue for Anthropic within EMEA mission-driven organisations. Navigate complex multi-stakeholder ecosystems to reach decision-makers, educate them about Claude, and help them succeed with Anthropic
Build and lead a regional team supporting EMEA customers, both inbound and outbound. Establish team structure, hiring priorities, and operational processes for scaling—while rolling up your sleeves to close deals yourself
Design and execute innovative sales strategies tailored to diverse EMEA contexts: nonprofit budget cycles and grant timelines, foundation giving patterns, and varying regulatory environments across jurisdictions
Navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems including INGO executive teams, foundation programme officers, trustees, executive directors, and IT departments to build consensus
Develop and maintain relationships with key EMEA ecosystem players: nonprofit networks (Bond, NCVO, European Foundation Centre), education networks, and implementation partners
Inform product roadmaps by gathering feedback from EMEA nonprofit and education users. Provide insights on regional requirements including data sovereignty, language support, and compliance needs
Continuously refine the EMEA sales methodology by incorporating learnings into playbooks, templates, and best practices. Adapt global processes for regional contexts while contributing insights back to the global team
Ensure all sales activities comply with relevant data protection regulations (GDPR, UK GDPR) and address customer concerns about data sovereignty, AI ethics, and responsible deployment
Partner effectively with SF-based teams across time zones, maintaining regular cadence with the Beneficial Deployments Lead and cross-functional stakeholders while operating with significant regional autonomy
Help shape team processes and culture as we scale from 1 to N
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
8+ years of B2B sales experience in nonprofit technology, EdTech, or social impact sectors, preferably in EMEA SaaS or emerging technologies
Track record of managing complex sales cycles within nonprofits, INGOs, foundations, or educational institutions, securing strategic deals by understanding both mission requirements and technical needs
Experience building and scaling sales teams, with proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain top talent while operating across multiple time zones and cultural contexts
Deep understanding of nonprofit or education sector operations, including INGO federated structures, European foundation giving, UK charity sector dynamics, and/or higher education procurement
Demonstrated ability to navigate diverse stakeholder ecosystems including trustees, executive directors, programme officers, and procurement committees
A scrappy mentality—comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and doing whatever it takes to further the mission
Strong understanding of GDPR and UK data protection, with ability to address customer concerns about AI ethics and responsible deployment
Proven experience exceeding revenue targets while operating autonomously, managing an evolving pipeline across multiple market segments and time zones
Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt style across cultural contexts
Fluency in English required; proficiency in French valued given Francophone Africa coverage; additional European languages a plus
A genuine passion for social impact and experience with or commitment to advancing mission-driven work through technology
Strong Candidates May Also Have
Active involvement in the EMEA nonprofit or education community through board service, advisory roles, or sector leadership
Existing relationships with major INGOs (Save the Children, Oxfam, IRC, MSF, CARE, World Vision), foundations, or educational institutions
Familiarity with nonprofit data privacy requirements, AI ethics frameworks, and responsible technology deployment
Track record of building strategic partnerships with foundations or philanthropic advisors
Experience presenting at nonprofit conferences (Bond Conference, NCVO Conference, Skoll World Forum) or education forums
Understanding of specific verticals: education technology, digital health, financial inclusion/economic mobility programs
