You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
Staff Backend Engineer - Adaptive Telemetry, Databases
This is a remote position. We are looking for candidates in the USA time zones.
What is Grafana Cloud?
Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with Grafana. It allows our customers to leverage the best open source observability software – including Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope – without the overhead of installing, maintaining and scaling their own observability stack.
The Databases department owns and operates the telemetry databases that are
Mimir for metrics
,
Loki for logs
,
Tempo for traces
, and
Pyroscope for profiles
. We offer our databases as a Cloud service supporting Grafana Cloud.
Adaptive Telemetry Group
The Adaptive Telemetry group, part of the Databases department, has the mission of ensuring that all telemetry stored in our databases is worthy of attention. Under that mission, the group is responsible for the development of
Adaptive Metrics
,
Adaptive Logs
,
Adaptive Traces
and Adaptive Profiles.
Our Adaptive Telemetry solutions give users the ability to control and optimize their telemetry data. These solutions ensure that data storage is optimized based on individual usage patterns, so only the most valuable data is retained.
As a company we are remote-first and global, we embrace people of different experiences and backgrounds to build diverse teams where every person brings a new perspective to the software.
What will you be doing:
Drive technical strategy and roadmap.
Proactively define the architectural vision, prioritize work that unlocks major product or platform improvements, and influence product and engineering decisions.
Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional projects.
Own planning, design, execution, rollout and long-term operation of large initiatives.
Own architecture, reliability, performance and cost for critical systems.
Make pragmatic architecture choices that balance scalability, availability, latency and cost while ensuring systems remain maintainable and evolvable.
Define SLOs/SLIs and lead incident response.
Establish measurable reliability targets, run high-severity incident response, lead blameless post-mortems, and drive systemic fixes and automation to prevent recurrence.
Improve observability, automation and operational readiness.
Champion telemetry, alerting, runbooks, capacity planning and automation efforts that reduce toil, speed debugging and lower MTTR.
Align stakeholders and remove blockers.
Coordinate across Product, Design and other teams to align priorities, negotiate tradeoffs, and unblock delivery for large initiatives.
Mentor and grow engineering talent.
Coach senior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, raise engineering standards, and help teammates make sound technical tradeoffs.
Represent engineering internally and externally.
Communicate technical strategy clearly to non-engineering stakeholders and represent the team in cross-team planning.
We invest heavily in developer productivity. You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction. We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always with strong code review and quality standards. You'll also have access to the latest frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
What makes you a great fit:
You are a motivated self starter with a bias towards action. You are customer focused. We build everything with our users in mind. You have a passion for creating intuitive products that fit customers’ needs
Proven delivery of large distributed systems.
Experience shipping and operating complex systems that span multiple teams, with clear evidence of technical leadership and impact.
Strong systems-design instincts.
Deep understanding of tradeoffs around latency, consistency, availability, scaling and cost.

Reliability and performance ownership.
Comfortable defining SLOs/SLIs, doing capacity planning, tuning performance, and driving reliability work end-to-end.
Excellent coding and design skills.
You write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and can lead technical designs — we use Go, but Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well.
Comfort with AI-assisted development.
We embrace AI and agentic development so we expect you to be curious and comfortable using AI-powered developer tools and ideally have practical experience folding them into a team’s workflow.
Experience with messaging and telemetry.
Familiarity with streaming/messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) and observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana or equivalents).
Influence without authority.
Ability to align cross-functional stakeholders, set priorities and drive outcomes in a remote-first environment.
Strong communicator.

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.
You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
This is a remote opportunity and we are looking for candidates from the UK, Sweden, Spain, Germany or Ireland.
About the role:
Grafana Cloud runs Mimir, Loki, Tempo and Pyroscope as multi-tenant SaaS databases across AWS, GCP and Azure in regions worldwide. Our highest-SLA customers depend on them to run their businesses. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to keep these systems reliable at scale.
The role combines building and operating. You’ll write the software, automation and product changes that make our databases more reliable, including changes to the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases where reliability calls for it. You’ll also be on call for our highest-SLA customers and handle the operational work that comes with it. You’ll bring a production mindset to product engineering and engineering rigor to reliability, and you’ll set technical direction across squads.
What You’ll Do
Build reliability into the product.
Write production code in our services, tooling and the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases that makes our databases more resilient, self-healing and scalable as demand grows quickly.
Build automation and platform tooling
that removes toil and scales our reliability practices across regions and cloud providers.
Lead technical design.
Author design docs, review others’ designs and PRs, and shape feature design so it’s scalable and operable from day one.
Own the SLO framework.
Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models. Use SLO burn and incident learnings to find and fix the causes of failure in the systems themselves.
Improve observability and alerting
so we find problems before customers do, and so escalations are actionable rather than noisy.
Be on call for our highest-SLA customers.
Act as a technical escalation point for complex customer environments. Lead customer-impacting incident response, including customer bridge calls when needed, and write blameless post-incident reviews that lead to engineering fixes.
Handle the operational work that comes from on-call.
This includes investigating customer escalations, following up on incident actions, tuning capacity and configuration, and turning recurring issues into permanent fixes or automation.
Multiply the team.
Mentor engineers, teach reliability practices that teams adopt early in development, and work with engineering leadership on roadmaps and product strategy.
We highly value those who are intellectually curious, who default to transparency, possess a high bias towards action, and who are also kind (this is important!)
On-Call
Weekday on-call is 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, split between North America and Europe so you cover your local working hours. Weekends are covered by a separate 24-hour rotation. You’ll take a weekend roughly once every six to eight weeks.
What We’re Looking For:
8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building and owning distributed systems in production.
Strong production software skills, ideally in at least one object-oriented language. You write clean, tested code and can make targeted changes in large open-source codebases you didn’t write.
Deep understanding of distributed systems: performance, scaling and failure modes. You can reason about how a system will break before it does.
Experience running multi-tenant systems at scale on Kubernetes in AWS, GCP or Azure, with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm or Jsonnet.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing SLOs.
Experience being on call for production systems. You troubleshoot calmly and methodically under pressure, and you’ve taken part in blameless incident response and written high-quality post-incident reviews.
Staff-level technical leadership: driving cross-team projects, setting technical direction and making the engineers around you better.
Working knowledge of Linux internals, networking and cloud storage.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, Prometheus or other observability and time-series databases.
Open-source contributions.
Customer reliability engineering (CRE) or customer-facing escalation experience.1

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.
As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About The Role
We are looking for a passionate and motivated
Staff Technical Writer
to join our Product Documentation team as we support the company in achieving top-priority objectives & key results
Documentation at dbt is both a community asset and a foundational product surface. The Documentation team accelerates product adoption and user success by helping data practitioners learn, explore, and confidently use dbt.
We operate using a docs-as-code and docs-as-a-product approach within an open-source model, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Developer Experience, and customer-facing teams. By balancing deep product knowledge with a beginner’s lens, we not only create accurate, easy-to-read documentation for humans and bots alike, but also surface insights that drive product improvements.
In this role, you’ll help new users reach their “a-ha” moment faster, support experienced practitioners as they expand into new areas of the ecosystem, and uphold the clarity, accuracy, and trust that our community depends on.
If you are looking for an exciting opportunity at a collaborative, dynamic and fast-growing company, this role could be for you!

Addressing ongoing issues - 20%
Independently troubleshoots issue requests, and helps less-senior writers learn how to do the same
Has a solid understanding of when a swathe of issues can be folded into a larger content strategy improvement project instead of addressing each issue singularly
Independently notices overarching issues in our docs and figures out how to address them
Focuses on more complex issues, while analyzing data across multiple dimensions to evaluate solutions and drive decisions
Triages and reviews open source PRs and issues, and alerts the team when these are piling up
Peer reviewing - 15%
Provides and explains their insightful and compassionate editorial and technical feedback when reviewing the work of peers
When providing feedback, consistently notices gaps in pages outside of the pages contained in the pull request they’re reviewing. They evaluate the problem being solved instead of just the pages being submitted for review.
Gains agreement, consolidates differing opinions, and enables team to move forward
Reviews are consistently centered around clarifying the experience for users
Skills We're Looking For
Required:
Minimum 5 years writing technical documentation for developer tools, including a solid understanding of version control and single-sourcing content, and experience managing documentation systems.
Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and carry out complex writing projects with high attention to detail along the way.
Ability to compassionately give and receive editorial and technical feedback.
Communicate clearly and concisely, especially when working asynchronously or with a distributed team.
Preferred:
Experience with dbt or data
Previous experience as a senior member of a formal documentation team working collaboratively with other writers, editors, and teams.
Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team
A plus if you have experience contributing to or maintaining an open source project

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform team. This is an individual contributor role with outsized technical scope: you'll be the technical anchor for how Xsolla builds secure, high-scale auth infrastructure — setting direction, making hard architectural calls, and raising the bar across the org.
You will own the strategy behind authentication, authorization, and session management at scale, and evolve our OAuth 2.0 / OIDC flows and token lifecycle to meet both product and compliance needs. You operate with significant autonomy, but your decisions ripple across teams — so you'll spend real time building buy-in with engineering and security stakeholders, not just designing in isolation.
You are technically deep, calm under pressure, and comfortable being the escalation point when production IAM issues get hard. You write the RFCs and design docs that people actually read, and you create leverage for the broader engineering org through documentation, tooling, and mentorship — without needing a management title to do it.
HOW WE WORK
Xsolla operates across multiple time zones, and the IAM platform underpins authentication and authorization for every product we ship. Strong written communication is essential — your architectural decisions and designs need to stand on their own and be actionable without you in the room.
We value directness, technical depth, and follow-through. If a design or production issue has real security or reliability implications, we expect you to say so clearly, defend your position with evidence, and stay engaged until it's resolved.
ABOUT US

About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Staff Mobile Engineer to join our P2P & Fiat team, where you will own the mobile engineering for OKX’s peer-to-peer trading and fiat payment experiences across multiple markets. This is a high-ownership role sitting at the intersection of mobile engineering and cross-border payments—you will work closely with compliance, legal, and regional business teams to build localised, regulation-aware payment flows for users across Southeast Asia, LATAM, MENA, and beyond.
You bring deep familiarity with P2P trading mechanics, cross-regional fiat payment integrations, and the compliance considerations that govern them. You are also fluent in AI-assisted development and bring the discipline to build, maintain, and continuously improve your own AI engineering workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
Own the mobile engineering for P2P trading flows, including trading channel mechanics, payment methods, and end-to-end buy and sell transaction journeys.
Build and maintain cross-regional fiat payment integrations, including local bank transfers, e-wallets, and third-party PSP integrations across markets such as Southeast Asia, LATAM, and MENA.
Ensure mobile payment flows and user data handling comply with local and international regulatory requirements, including KYC tiers, transaction limits, and regional compliance constraints.

About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Staff Mobile Engineer to join our OEX Mobile Growth team — a pure mobile team sitting at the intersection of engineering rigour, consumer growth craft, and product instinct. This is not a feature delivery role. You will own the client-side architecture for new user acquisition, referral and virality mechanics, and the reward and conversion funnels that drive growth for millions of users.
You bring deep expertise in mobile attribution — from MMP design and evolution through to anti-fraud, channel revenue sharing, and ROI evaluation — and you know how to turn attribution data into decisions. You are also fluent in AI-assisted development and bring the discipline to build, maintain, and continuously improve your own AI engineering workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
Own the client-side architecture for core growth conversion flows — new user acquisition, referral and virality loops, reward mechanics, and activity-driven engagement systems.
Design and evolve the mobile attribution system — including MMP integration, attribution modelling, and the application of attribution data across anti-fraud, channel revenue sharing, and ROI evaluation scenarios.
Build and optimise growth infrastructure including funnel instrumentation, experiment frameworks, and acquisition loops that directly serve the mobile user base.
Collaborate closely with Product, Business Development, and local market teams to translate commercial goals into concrete, data-backed engineering proposals.
Drive technical decision-making on growth infrastructure, articulating trade-offs clearly and defending or revising positions based on evidence.
Apply AI coding tools actively in your workflow — not just for code generation, but to build and maintain repeatable personal AI development workflows.
Mentor engineers on the team and help establish a culture where engineers bring solutions, not just responses.
What We Look For In You
8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-quality systems at scale.
Deep familiarity with new user growth, referral and virality mechanics, activity and reward systems, and the client-side architecture behind core business conversion flows.
Strong expertise in mobile attribution design and evolution — hands-on experience with attribution platforms and solutions, and proven ability to drive attribution data into anti-fraud, channel revenue sharing, and ROI evaluation applications.
Proficient in AI-assisted development — able to independently build and maintain personal AI engineering workflows, not just use AI tools ad hoc.
Data instincts: you think in funnels, know how to instrument what matters, and use metrics to drive decisions.
Outspoken and proposal-driven — you come to the table with a point of view, push back when you disagree, and bring data and a counter-proposal rather than just flagging concerns.
Strong cross-functional communication — comfortable working with Product, Business Development, and local markets to align on goals and hold the line on engineering quality.
Nice-To-Haves
Mobile development experience in iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) — or backend experience building growth systems that serve mobile apps directly.
Depth in MMPs such as AppsFlyer, Adjust, or SKAdNetwork.
Experience building referral systems, k-factor mechanics, or anti-fraud layers.
A/B experiment framework ownership at meaningful scale.
ASO operational experience (App Store Connect, Google Play Console).
Background in fintech, crypto, or regulated consumer financial products.
Experience operating across APAC, EEA, or US markets.

Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development
Various team building programs and company events
Wellness and meal allowances
Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.
You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
This is a remote opportunity and we are looking for candidates from the UK, Sweden, Spain or Germany.

Customer reliability engineering (CRE) or customer-facing escalation experience.

About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Staff Mobile Engineer to join our Mobile Infrastructure team, the foundational engineering group that powers the OKX app for millions of daily active users. This is not a feature delivery role. You will work at the platform layer, building the tools, frameworks, and systems that enable product engineering teams to move faster, ship higher quality code, and scale reliably.
You are deeply native in either iOS or Android, and confident contributing across both platforms leveraging AI coding tools to move fluidly between stacks. You care about engineering quality at the foundation level: architecture, performance, toolchain, and developer experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Build and maintain mobile infrastructure, tooling, and shared frameworks that improve engineering efficiency and developer experience across the organisation.
Analyse and optimise application code at the UI and infrastructure layer, including memory footprint, package size, startup time, and rendering performance.
Design and develop reusable, scalable mobile components for use across iOS and Android platforms.
Partner with product engineering teams to deliver infrastructure solutions, establish best practices, and drive technical standards.
Drive architecture innovations that support world-class mobile app development at scale.
Optimise project structure and engineering workflows to improve productivity, quality, and release velocity.
Apply AI coding tools to accelerate infrastructure development, improve code quality, and cross-translate solutions across iOS and Android platforms.
Stay current with mobile platform developments and emerging toolchain innovations, evaluating and adopting what moves the needle.
What We Look For In You
6+ years of native iOS or Android development experience, with a strong track record in infrastructure, platform, or architecture work.
Deep expertise in either iOS (Swift/Objective-C/C++) or Android (Kotlin/Java, Jetpack), with confidence contributing across both platforms.
Actively uses AI tools in your engineering workflow — including building AI-leveraged workflows, curating domain knowledge bases, and codifying repeatable agent skills so tools like Claude Code or Codex deliver reliably on real production work.
Proven experience optimising app performance — memory, package size, startup time, and UI rendering — in production environments at scale.
Deep understanding of design patterns, architectural principles, and the mobile SDK layer for building scalable, high-performance components.
Working knowledge of remote APIs, concurrency, layouts, transitions, animations, client-side persistence, and mobile architectural patterns.
Strong communication skills — comfortable collaborating across global teams and delivering large-scale engineering outcomes independently.
Nice-To-Haves
Experience working in a dedicated mobile architecture or infrastructure team with deep platform specialisation.
Hands-on experience across performance optimisation, toolchain engineering, automated testing frameworks, or design pattern standardisation.
Experience working across both iOS and Android in a production infrastructure context.
Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter.
Experience in fintech, crypto, or other high-scale consumer app environments.
Perks & Benefits
Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development

Various team building programs and company events
Wellness and meal allowances
Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
