This is an opportunity to define the robot learning strategy at a company where machine learning is central to the product roadmap.
The Role
We're seeking a
Vice President of Robot Learning
to lead the company's robot learning organization and own the roadmap from teleoperation data collection through to learned policies and increasing levels of autonomy.
This is a highly technical leadership role for someone who enjoys building from first principles, working closely with hardware and software teams, and translating cutting-edge robotics research into production systems.

Required
PhD or equivalent expertise in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field.
Significant experience building robot learning systems for real-world robotic manipulation.
Deep expertise in imitation learning, reinforcement learning, policy learning, or related techniques.
Experience working with physical robots rather than purely simulated environments.
Strong understanding of contact-rich manipulation, force feedback, and real-world robotic control.
Track record of shipping robotics systems from research into production.
Experience leading highly technical teams or serving as the technical leader for a major robotics initiative.
Preferred
Experience from leading robotics organizations or research groups such as:

Collaborative, hands-on, and deeply technical.
Why Join
Define the robot learning strategy from an early stage.
Build systems that operate in challenging, real-world industrial environments.
Work across hardware, controls, perception, and AI to solve end-to-end robotics problems.

At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level and live longer through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.
We are seeking an Associate Director, Core Algorithms (Cloud) to lead the teams responsible for WHOOP's cloud-based algorithmic intelligence — the models and systems that transform physiological data into the sleep, recovery, and training insights our members rely on daily. This role is also responsible for ensuring our cloud algorithms evolve alongside WHOOP hardware, partnering with Sensor Intelligence and Hardware teams to translate new sensor capabilities into production-grade algorithmic experiences.
You will own the technical vision, execution, and organizational health of this team. You'll drive the evolution of our core production algorithms such as workout detection, strain, and sleep staging toward higher accuracy, better member experiences, and more mature development practices. You will partner closely with ML Platform, Sensor Intelligence, Research, Product, and Software Engineering to define what WHOOP algorithms can enable — not just how they perform technically, but how they show up for members.
This is a role for someone who has built and shipped physiological ML at scale in a consumer product, who has a deep product instinct for what algorithms mean to end users, and who knows how to elevate an ML organization's practices: raising the bar on tooling, processes, and standards to match the ambition of the work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the cloud ML team responsible for the algorithms powering sleep, recovery, and training
- Directly manage applied ML scientists and ML engineers; provide coaching, career development, and performance feedback that grows individual contributors into strong technical leaders

- Ability to evaluate technical designs, guide architectural decisions, and ensure quality at the system level, without needing to write code day-to-day
- Experience defining and driving cross-functional programs with engineering, product, and science partners

An overview of this role
This role is not a typical infrastructure operations role. As Manager, Engineering, Git & Gitaly Operations, you'll lead the team responsible for the infrastructure layer underneath Git at GitLab: the open source Git project itself, Gitaly, GitLab's Git storage and remote procedure call layer, and the services that make Git perform at enterprise scale.
Git and Gitaly are core to GitLab. If they go sideways in production, they affect everything downstream, including continuous integration, code review, and deployments. This role starts with genuine subject matter expertise in Git technologies and extends to reliable operation across GitLab's deployment models: Self-Managed, GitLab Dedicated, and SaaS.
You'll build and develop a team with deep platform expertise and strong operational judgment. You'll partner across engineering groups to shape how Git and Gitaly operations evolve as the platform grows.
What you’ll do
Build and lead a team with deep platform expertise in Git and Gitaly, hiring and developing engineers who can operate this infrastructure layer with strong operational judgment.
Own production reliability for Git and Gitaly across GitLab's full deployment footprint.
Drive incident management, root cause investigation, and postmortems with the technical depth to distinguish a Git internals problem from a generic infrastructure problem.
Design and operate Git and Gitaly service models that work across Self-Managed, GitLab Dedicated, and SaaS, with a clear view of which elements are common and which must differ between them.
Maintain cloud-agnostic architecture and tooling decisions, avoiding designs that assume a single hyperscaler's primitives.
Partner with the teams that own each deployment model so operational practices stay coherent rather than fragmenting into separate playbooks.
Apply distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency, replication, and failure domains, to Gitaly's storage and replication model.
Own elastic storage and compute strategy for Git repository data, including capacity planning, autoscaling, and consumption-based provisioning for GitLab's largest self-managed and SaaS customers.
What you’ll bring
Familiarity with GitLab's product and deployment models, and how Git and Gitaly support repository operations across self-managed, dedicated, and SaaS environments.
Hands-on subject matter expertise in Git internals, including how the protocol, object model, and storage layer behave under load and at scale, not only familiarity with Git usage.
Strong distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency, replication, failure handling, and horizontal scalability.
Experience running production infrastructure across multiple deployment models, such as self-managed, dedicated or single-tenant, and multi-tenant SaaS, or a credible path from adjacent experience to it.
Experience with elastic storage and compute, and consumption-based system design for variable, unpredictable load.
People management experience, ideally leading site reliability engineering-style or platform operations teams.
Direct experience with Gitaly, libgit2, JGit, or another Git implementation's internals is advantageous.
Experience operating cloud-agnostic infrastructure across multiple hyperscalers or on-premises environments is advantageous.
About the team
The Git & Gitaly Operations team owns the Git infrastructure layer that powers GitLab and works at the intersection of Git internals, distributed systems, storage, and production operations.
We expect the Git & Gitaly Operations team to go deep on one of GitLab's most critical platforms. The work requires technical depth, strong operational discipline, and the ability to solve complex reliability and scaling challenges in Git and Gitaly.

An overview of this role
Site Reliability Engineers keep GitLab's user-facing services and production systems running reliably at scale. They combine software engineering with operational excellence, applying sound engineering principles, automation, and continuous improvement to build, operate, and evolve our production infrastructure.
This is a single application for Site Reliability Engineering opportunities across Infrastructure Platforms. Rather than asking you to choose the right team or level upfront, we evaluate your skills holistically and match you to the opportunity that best aligns with your experience and our hiring needs. We hire Site Reliability Engineers from Intermediate through Senior Staff across multiple Infrastructure Platforms teams.
We don't expect every candidate to have experience with every technology in our environment. We're looking for engineers with strong technical fundamentals, a growth mindset, and the ability to learn quickly. We'll support you in becoming successful with GitLab's tools, systems, and ways of working.
Please note: This position is open to candidates based in the United States and Canada only. Candidates based in the United Kingdom can apply to this posting:
Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Platforms — UK (Intermediate to Senior Staff)
How our SRE hiring works
Because this is a single application for SRE roles across Infrastructure Platforms, our process is built to evaluate you once and match you well, rather than interviewing separately for every team.
Recruiter Screen:
A conversation about your background, what you're looking for, and the level and teams that fit, so we can point your process in the right direction.
Core Technical:
The shared assessment every SRE candidate takes, regardless of eventual team. A low-stress, collaborative discussion covering system architecture and incident review.
Hiring Manager Interview:
A conversation about ownership, judgment, execution, collaboration, and growth, the non-technical signals that make an SRE effective at GitLab.
Peer Technical:
Team-specific depth, run by SREs from the team you're most likely to join, focused on the problems that team actually works on.
Skip-Level Interview:
A conversation with a senior leader on values alignment, and how you'll work across teams.
After your interviews, we consider your performance alongside our current hiring needs to confirm the level and team where you'll do your best work. Interview results are a major factor, and final placement also reflects our active hiring priorities at the time.
We’ll calibrate your level throughout the interview process based on the scope and impact of your experience.
Intermediate: You independently deliver meaningful reliability improvements within a defined area.
Senior: You own complex reliability work end to end and raise the effectiveness of your team.
Staff: You shape reliability across multiple teams, solving systemic problems and creating approaches others can reuse.
Senior Staff: You set technical direction across a broader Infrastructure area and influence reliability strategy at organizational scale.
What you'll do
Keep user-facing services and production systems reliable, scalable, and efficient
Build automation and tooling that reduces toil and replaces manual work with repeatable, infrastructure-as-code-driven workflows
Operate and troubleshoot production systems on Kubernetes, including deployments, rollouts, and scaling
Write and maintain infrastructure as code, and ship changes safely through CI/CD and GitOps
Participate in on-call, triage alerts, follow and improve runbooks, and escalate appropriately
Contribute to the observability stack, using metrics, logs, and SLOs to detect symptoms early rather than just outages
Take part in incident response and post-incident reviews, turning learnings into changes in automation and process
Document runbooks, architecture decisions, and reviews so your findings become repeatable practices
What you'll bring
Experience keeping production systems reliable, combining an operations mindset with real software engineering practice
Experience building net-new infrastructure tooling and automation, not just configuring existing tools. For example, Terraform modules, Kubernetes operators or controllers, or production automation and services written from scratch
The ability to read, debug, and reason about code. Most of our teams work in Go; some work in Ruby. You can discuss a piece of code's behavior, performance, and failure modes
Experience with infrastructure as code, and with Kubernetes and its ecosystem, at a depth appropriate to your level
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP or AWS)
Familiarity with observability practices, including metrics, logging, alerting, and SLOs or SLIs, and using data to inform operational decisions
Comfort participating in on-call and incident response, with a structured approach to troubleshooting under pressure
Strong written communication and the ability to operate as a manager-of-one in an async, distributed environment
A track record of using automation, and increasingly AI, to reduce toil and improve how you and your team work
Alignment with GitLab's values and a commitment to working in accordance with them

- Join us to transform how the world’s most-loved consumer brands engage their customers - and help build technology that makes shopping more personal, effortless, and delightful for everyone.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead & develop a high-performing sales team: Hire, onboard, and develop AEs across your region, Coach reps on deal strategy, pipeline management, and execution. Create a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration. Identify and grow future leaders on your team.

EVEN BETTER...
- Industry knowledge: Familiarity with the AI landscape, key players, and emerging trends, as well as fluency with AI tooling and workflows.
- Experience building GTM strategies: Building sales teams and sales motions from scratch, or from early stage growth.
OUR VALUES
- Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.
- Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.
- Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.
- Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.
- Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements.
