OUR PURPOSE
At Xero, we’re here to supercharge small businesses. By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
Accounts payable is broken for small businesses. Managing and paying a bill today means stitching together three or four different tools — capturing documents in one place, entering data in another, chasing approvals over email, and making the payment in a bank portal. It is manual, error-prone, and it takes hours every week from people who should be running their business.
Xero’s bills and bill payment surface already serves over a million monthly active users globally: small business owners, the employees who keep their books, and professional bookkeepers working across dozens of clients at accounting firms. It runs on a system designed for a pre-agent world.
As a Senior Product Manager on Bills, you will own the layer underneath that surface — the API contracts, the data-access model and the permission architecture that decide what a person or an agent is allowed to read, write and pay on a customer’s behalf. That applies inside Bills, and it applies through Xero’s integrations with Claude, Copilot and our open-source MCP server. You will set the vision alongside a principal engineer, argue the customer’s case inside technical decisions, decide what the interface should be, and lead a team of engineers through a replatform that never takes those million users offline.
This is not a zero-to-one bet looking for users. The work already has them. What does not exist yet is the architecture underneath accounts payable that makes automated, agent-assisted and human-directed spend coherent, safe and trustworthy. That is the job.
Your impact will be measured through customer, operational and commercial outcomes — including automation and straight-through processing rates, bill payment adoption and volume, activation and retention across owner and bookkeeper personas, platform and API reliability, and the pace at which the replatform lands without customer disruption.
THE TEAM AND HOW THEY CONNECT
You will join the Bills team — 20+ engineers, designers and product managers across Toronto, Vancouver and Pittsburgh — working across core AP workflows, platform APIs, AI experiences and bill payments. The team partners closely with payment and infrastructure vendors, and with cross-functional teams across North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. This is a global role, based in Toronto or Vancouver with flexibility to work remotely, and the team comes together in person regularly to collaborate and align on strategy.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
OWN THE ARCHITECTURE UNDERNEATH PAYMENTS
- Develop the vision, strategy and roadmap for the API, data-access and permission layer that underpins bills and bill payments, in partnership with a principal engineer.
- Define the contracts, data models and permission scopes that determine what any client — Xero’s own UI, a partner integration, or an AI agent — can read, write, approve and pay.
- Decide where authority sits: what a person must confirm, what an agent may do unattended, what requires a second approver, and what can never be automated.
- Sequence a replatform of a system serving more than a million monthly active users, with migration paths, dual-running periods and rollback plans that keep customers working throughout.
- Own the cost and consequence of changing contracts that other teams and third parties depend on, including versioning, deprecation and breaking-change communication.
- Identify opportunities to build reusable capabilities that serve Bills, the wider spend lifecycle and external developers, rather than isolated point solutions.
REMOVE TOIL FROM THE END-TO-END ACCOUNTS PAYABLE WORKFLOW
- Own products across the complete accounts payable journey: bill capture and understanding, coding and data extraction, approval routing, scheduling, payment execution, reconciliation and exception handling.
- Build toward a world where bills arrive, get understood, get approved and get paid with minimal human toil, and where the entire spend lifecycle lives in one place.
- Make Bill Pay the default way businesses pay through Xero, scaling bill payments across markets.
- Identify valuable and differentiated customer problems, and frame clear solutions that can be tested, validated and delivered incrementally.
- Ensure that platform complexity results in simple, understandable customer experiences rather than being passed through to the customer.
BUILD FOR MULTIPLE PERSONAS WHOSE INTERESTS CONFLICT
- Lead customer research across the distinct user types on this surface: business owners, in-house finance and admin staff, and professional bookkeepers and advisors managing many clients at once.
- Design for the tension between them — the owner who wants a bill paid now, the bookkeeper who needs control and auditability, the firm that needs consistency across a client portfolio — and make the trade-off explicit rather than averaging it away.
- Partner closely with Design and Engineering to create high-quality experiences across web, mobile and embedded surfaces, as well as programmatic ones.
- Use customer data, qualitative insight and market intelligence to inform product strategy, prioritisation and roadmap decisions.
SHIP AI AND AGENT CAPABILITIES CUSTOMERS CAN TRUST
- Define how AI and agents participate in accounts payable: what they suggest, what they act on, what they escalate, and how the customer stays in control.
- Own the quality bar for LLM-powered capabilities — evaluation sets, confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop design, fallback behaviour and observable failure modes — and hold the line on it before launch.
- Prototype your own ideas, including in code, rather than waiting for engineering capacity to test a hypothesis.
- Shape how Xero’s accounts payable capabilities are exposed to external agent platforms, including our MCP server and integrations with Claude and Copilot.
- Design for an error-intolerant workflow: this product moves real money, and a wrong answer costs a customer real money and real trust.
NAVIGATE RISK, COMPLIANCE AND OPERATIONAL COMPLEXITY
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Security and Operations to build products that meet regulatory, security and operational requirements across markets.
- Take responsibility for risks arising from authorisation and access control, financial crime, privacy and responsible data use, data accuracy, regulatory change and service availability.
- Account for market-specific gating in payments and money movement — including US money transmission, UK FCA and open banking requirements, and Australian licensing and payment rails — when sequencing launches.
- Lead trade-off decisions that balance customer experience, risk exposure, regulatory obligation, technical complexity and commercial outcome.
- Treat operational processes, support tooling and exception management as part of the product, not an afterthought — including failed payments, duplicate bills, incorrect approvals, reversals and disputes.
DRIVE STRATEGY, EXECUTION AND COMMERCIAL OUTCOMES
- Develop and execute roadmaps that align customer needs, AP strategy, platform architecture and Xero’s broader business objectives, including the Melio acquisition and Xero’s North America growth agenda.
- Establish clear product goals, success metrics and OKRs, and be accountable for moving them.
- Take an active role in annual and quarterly planning, including funding, prioritisation and resourcing discussions.
- Lead release and rollout strategy so that changes land safely and iteratively across customer cohorts and markets.
- Monitor and interrogate customer, commercial and operational results, and lead interventions where outcomes are not meeting expectations.
- Understand the economics of the product, including payment volume, adoption, pricing, processing cost, margin and revenue.
- Make clear prioritisation decisions that balance immediate delivery against the long-term evolution of the platform.
LEAD THROUGH CROSS-FUNCTIONAL INFLUENCE
- Build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Design, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Finance, Partnerships and Go-to-Market teams.
- Create clarity on what is being built, why it matters, how it will work and when it will be delivered.
- Hold your own in architecture and design reviews on data models, API contracts and migration sequencing, and bring a position rather than only questions.
- Drive decision-making across complex stakeholder groups and act as tie-breaker when consensus cannot be reached.
- Represent the products you own in senior leadership, product, architecture and payments forums, and in front of customers and partners.
- Mentor and support other Product Managers, raising the standard of platform and AI product expertise across Xero.
SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Bills arrive, get understood, get approved and get paid in Xero with materially less human effort than they require today.
- There is a clear, documented and well-reasoned answer to what an agent is allowed to do with a customer’s money in Xero — and customers and partners trust it.
- The API and permission layer underneath accounts payable is coherent, versioned and extensible, and new clients, markets and payment capabilities can be supported without duplication or rework.
- The replatform progresses on a sequence the team believes in, with no material disruption to the million-plus customers using the surface every month.
- Owners, in-house finance staff and professional bookkeepers each get an experience suited to how they actually work, and you can name the trade-offs you made between them.
- AI-powered capabilities ship with defined evaluation criteria, measured quality, understood failure modes and appropriate human control — and improve after launch on evidence.
- Bill Pay adoption, payment volume, automation rate, activation and retention are improving, and your contribution to that is clear.
- Product risks and dependencies are identified early and managed in partnership with Engineering, Risk, Compliance and Operations.
- Stakeholders understand the vision, strategy, roadmap and key trade-offs — and engineers come to you first when a decision needs making.
- Other Product Managers are developing through your coaching and knowledge-sharing.
- You demonstrate and amplify Xero’s values.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING WITH YOU
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
This role sits below the interface as much as in front of it, and the bar reflects that. You will bring:
- Experience shipping below the UI. You have delivered changes to APIs, integration layers or shared services as part of delivering a wider product, and you know what it costs to change a contract other people depend on. Ideally you have owned a public or partner API through a breaking change.
- Substantive AI product experience. You have shipped an LLM-powered capability that customers actually used, and you can talk about evaluations, failure modes and confidence thresholds unprompted — including what your product got wrong in production and what you did about it. You use AI aggressively in your own work and prototype in code.
- Multi-persona B2B product experience. You have built a workflow serving several distinct user types whose interests conflict, and you can name a specific trade-off you made between two of them.
- Error-intolerant domains. You have built products where a mistake costs money or carries regulatory consequence — payments, payroll, tax, treasury, lending, legal or clinical workflows.
- Significant product management experience in a software development environment, across the full product lifecycle — typically five or more years in product, or comparable time as a founder, consultant or technical individual contributor in a payments and/or commerce domain.
Deep accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting or finance-team domain experience is a strong advantage but not a requirement, and experience with payment rails, regulatory-gated launches or fintech infrastructure is similarly valuable. Product experience confined to feature delivery on top of an existing platform, without direct involvement in the interfaces, contracts or data models underneath, is unlikely to be enough on its own for this role.
PRODUCT LEADERSHIP
- A strong track record of addressing customer needs through the innovative use of technology.
- Experience developing successful product strategies, roadmaps and long-term plans — setting direction rather than receiving a spec.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in technically complex and highly ambiguous environments, and to start before the problem is fully defined.
- Strong product judgement and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
- A track record of owning activation, retention, revenue or an equivalent metric and moving it — you can name the metric, the movement, and the trade-off you made to get it.
- Self-direction under ambiguity, with minimal supervision required to define direction and drive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to influence decisions at all levels of an organisation.
TECHNICAL AND COMMERCIAL UNDERSTANDING
- Ability to work as a peer with engineers and architects on platform design, APIs, data models, permission and authorisation models, system dependencies and technical trade-offs.
- Understanding of migration and replatform sequencing in a live, high-volume system, and of the risks that come with it.
- Strong understanding of how AI and agent systems are built and evaluated, including retrieval, tool use, evaluation design and the limits of model reliability.
- Ability to translate customer and business needs into clear product requirements and technical specifications.
- Understanding of product economics, including volume, cost, margin, pricing and revenue.
- Experience evaluating third-party providers and making build, buy or partner decisions.
- Familiarity with the regulatory, risk, security and operational considerations involved in moving money.
CUSTOMER AND DATA ORIENTATION
- Strong experience conducting customer research and converting insight into product decisions.
- Ability to identify and clearly articulate complex customer problems — and to talk about users in the plural.
- Experience developing MVPs, incremental solutions and experiments that validate product assumptions.
- Strong analytical skills, using quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions.
- Ability to establish meaningful success criteria and monitor ongoing performance.
- Ability to translate complex information for technical, commercial, operational and executive audiences.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholder groups across multiple engineering teams, geographies and third-party partners.
- Ability to lead through influence across Product, Engineering, Design, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Finance and Go-to-Market.
- Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, and comfort presenting to executives and to customers.
- Ability to navigate difficult decisions, resolve ambiguity and create alignment across teams and geographies.
- Willingness to disagree with an engineer, and to be disagreed with, in service of the customer.
- Experience mentoring and coaching Product Managers and cross-functional team members.
CRITICAL CAPABILITIES
Love customer problems
- Lead the use of customer research approaches and methodologies to generate meaningful insight across owner, in-house finance and bookkeeper personas.
- Clearly define and articulate complex customer problems, including where personas conflict.
- Develop incremental solutions and experiments that validate customer and product assumptions.
- Ensure that platform and agent complexity results in simple, understandable and trustworthy customer experiences.
Look to the future
- Develop compelling product strategies and roadmaps that align customer, commercial and platform objectives.
- Anticipate how immediate architectural decisions will constrain future agent capabilities, markets, partners and products.
- Identify opportunities to create reusable capabilities rather than isolated point solutions.
- Explore new technologies, models and business models that change how small businesses manage and pay their bills.
Work the Xero way
- Lead effective product prioritisation and decision-making.

WHY THIS ROLE
Most AI product roles are a bet on a zero-to-one that may never find users. This one is the opposite. More than a million people already do this work in Xero every month, and the mandate is to define how agents get to touch it.
Xero has already put the pieces on the table: a US$2.5B acquisition of Melio, an open-source MCP server, a live Claude integration, and a new North America Product and Technology Hub. What does not exist yet is the architecture underneath accounts payable that makes it all coherent. That is what you would own.
COMPENSATION & TOTAL REWARDS
At Xero, we value the impact and skills you bring to the team. We believe in a Total Package philosophy - ensuring your value is recognized through a holistic lens that includes base salary, performance incentives, and world-class benefits.
The expected base salary range for this role is CA$167,400 – CA$209,200.
Individual pay is determined by various factors, including geography, level of experience, and the specific skills you bring to the role.
In addition to base pay, Xero’s roles are eligible for the following forms of variable compensation:
- Variable Pay: Permanent employees are eligible to participate in our annual bonus and equity (RSU) programs. You may also be eligible for performance-based cash or equity (RSUs) incentives depending on your role level, and company performance.
- Comprehensive Benefits: World-class health, wellness, and retirement programs. Xero Perks https://careers.xero.com/inside-xero/benefits-wellbeing/ including Wellbeing days, generous leave, and dedicated professional development budgets.
This is a posting for an existing vacancy.
Xero uses AI to help screen applications based on job-related qualifications. These tools assist our recruiters but do not make automated hiring decisions. A human recruiter reviews all candidates before any hiring action is taken.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
We're seeking an experienced Social Escalations Manager to be a founding member of a new pillar of our Operations organization: Community & Executive Escalations. This role is the front line of how Anthropic protects its reputation when high-stakes user issues surface on public social platforms. You'll help stand up the function from scratch and operate it day-to-day. You'll actively monitor brand and product conversations, triage emerging issues, and own social escalations end-to-end. During live escalations, you'll build real-time social reports that turn data into actionable recommendations to resolve issues quickly and reduce reputational risk. The ideal candidate pairs deep fluency in the social analytics landscape with calm judgment under pressure, sharp written communication, and a bias toward action.
Key responsibilities
Build the team's playbooks, escalation criteria, tooling solutions, and SOPs to successfully manage social escalations
Actively monitor public social channels for brand mentions, surfacing potential escalations and triaging them against defined criteria
Own social escalations end-to-end during your coverage hours
Communicate crisply with internal stakeholders: brief executives on live situations, give Comms partners the facts they need, and keep incident channels useful and current
Build social reports in real-time, using the data to drive actionable recommendations that quickly and effectively resolve live incidents and reduce reputational risk
Write clear post-escalation reports that capture what happened, what we did, and what should change—so the next escalation is easier than the last
Help iterate on the team's playbooks, response templates, escalation criteria, and SOPs based on what you learn running real cases
Minimum qualifications
6+ years of experience in social analytics, escalations management, customer support, or a related front-line operations role—ideally at a consumer or developer platform
Deep knowledge of the social landscape and hands-on experience using social listening tools (query writing, alert design, API pipelines, report building)
Excellent judgment under pressure and have a strong instinct for how issues spread across public social platforms
Sharp written communication—you can brief a senior leader in three sentences and document an incident so the next responder can pick it up cold
Comfort coordinating across functions in real time and influencing partners without positional authority
A pattern-detection mindset—you spot the second-order issue beneath the first-order complaint and surface it to the right people
Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action; this team is brand new and you'll be helping define what good looks like as you operate
Excitement about protecting Anthropic's reputation and relationships at a moment when public attention on AI has never been higher
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

ABOUT US:
AI NEEDS A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAYER. WE'RE BUILDING IT AT MODAL.
Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now.
Our customers include category-defining companies like Ramp https://modal.com/blog/how-ramp-built-a-full-context-background-coding-agent-on-modal, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale.
We've passed $1B in annualized run rate, up 15x from a year ago. In October 2026 we raised a $750M Series D led by Accel at a $15.75B valuation.
Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g.,Seaborn https://github.com/mwaskom/seaborn,Luigi https://github.com/spotify/luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.
THE ROLE:
As our People Operations Generalist for the UK, you’ll own day-to-day People Operations for our growing UK team.
Reporting to our People Lead, Europe, you’ll be the go-to person for UK employees and managers, with ownership across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding and payroll coordination to employee changes and offboarding. You’ll bring strong UK People Operations expertise, help build scalable processes, and partner with the broader People team on global programs. You’ll also help run the day-to-day London office and work closely with Recruiting on the final stages of the UK candidate experience, including onsite interview coordination and candidate support.
Things move fast at Modal, and priorities change as we grow. We’re looking for someone flexible and hands-on who’s happy to jump in, figure things out, and take on whatever needs doing across your area.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
- Own day-to-day People Operations for our UK employees, including onboarding, employee changes, leave, documentation, and offboarding
- Act as the first point of contact for UK employees and managers, escalating more complex matters as needed
- Partner with payroll, benefits, pension, and other external providers to ensure smooth UK administration
- Keep employee data, documentation, and People processes accurate, compliant, and up to date
- Build and improve UK People processes, policies, and self-service resources as we scale
- Execute global People programs locally, ensuring they work effectively for our UK team
- Own day-to-day office operations in London, collaborating with internal partners (like the Workplace team!) and third-party vendors
- Coordinate onsite interviews and the final stages of the candidate experience for UK hires
- Plan and support local employee events and initiatives
YOU MAY BE A FIT IF:
- You have 5+ years of People Operations or HR experience, ideally at multiple fast-growing companies at a similar stage of growth
- You have strong knowledge of UK People Operations and employment practices, including payroll, benefits, pensions, and employee lifecycle processes
- You’re comfortable working independently and taking ownership, with the judgment to know when to escalate or bring in additional expertise
- You’re highly organized and detail-oriented, comfortably managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of discretion when handling sensitive employee matters
- You take a hands-on, flexible approach: you’re comfortable figuring things out, building processes from scratch, and jumping into whatever needs doing
- You’re based in London and comfortable working from the office five days a week (life happens, of course!)
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with office operations, workplace, or recruiting coordination

adjoe builds the technologies behind mobile apps growth and monetization. adjoe Ads is our programmatic in-app advertising platform that seamlessly connects advertisers and publishers through direct integration of our Android and iOS SDKs. Every ad decision happens in under 200ms across 10 million daily users, powered by real-time bidding algorithms and user quality prediction models that match the right ad to the right user at the right moment.
Where 50 Billion Daily Predictions Begin
The User Experience team is the origin point of adjoe Ads. Everything the system knows about a user, every prediction the ML models make, every bid placed in an auction. It all starts with code this team ships.
The team owns two responsibilities. On the SDK side, a native Kotlin and Swift code runs inside hundreds of publisher apps. It participates in 120 million daily auctions, renders ad creatives across multiple formats, and captures the behavioral signals that power 50 billion predictions per day. The constraint that defines this work: you're executing inside someone else's app, on someone else's device, with zero tolerance for instability. Every ad impression has to feel native and fast to the user.
On the analytics side, the dashboards, investigation tools, and data frameworks that turn raw data into decisions: real-time revenue performance across active campaigns, infrastructure cost visibility, and data quality assessments. If a number matters to the business or to engineering, this team makes it accessible.
Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For:
- Auction & Marketplace Analytics: You will monitor core ad exchange KPIs—including bid rates, win rates, timeout rates, eCPM, and render rates—and run deep dives to uncover bidding patterns and supply path optimization (SPO) opportunities. We are looking for someone with 2–3 years of experience as a Data or Product Analyst in AdTech (Programmatic, Ad Exchange, SSP, or DSP) who understands what drives marketplace health and revenue.
- A/B Testing & Revenue Strategy: You will design, track, and evaluate A/B tests for product features, floor pricing rules, and traffic shaping algorithms. We are looking for a data-driven thinker who loves solving business puzzles, testing commercial hypotheses, and proving what actually moves the needle on product performance.
- Advanced Data Extraction: You will query massive datasets to turn millions of raw ad events into clear business answers. We need advanced SQL skills to effortlessly query billions of rows, spot anomalies, and translate complex metrics into clear, actionable recommendations for our product and demand teams.
- Traffic & Cost Efficiency: You will analyze bid request data to identify inefficient traffic and help product managers design smart routing rules. We need an analyst who can balance top-line revenue with operational costs, finding ways to streamline traffic (Queries Per Second) without sacrificing publisher earnings.
- Executive Dashboarding & Reporting: You will build automated, easy-to-read dashboards that give Product, Engineering, and Demand Partnerships real-time visibility into campaign performance. We are looking for hands-on experience with BI tools like QuickSight, Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Redash to make key business numbers intuitive and accessible to everyone.
- Agile Project Execution: You will balance scheduled analytics projects with quick-turnaround deep dives when marketplace metrics shift unexpectedly. We need a hands-on, proactive analyst who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can independently manage multiple analytical priorities.

Anthropic's Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team is the connective tissue that holds the company accountable to its security and control commitments. We translate regulatory, customer, and voluntary obligations into controls that teams act on, and give leadership a bird's-eye view of how well we're meeting them. We're building toward continuous assurance, to challenge and evidence the performance of controls continuously rather than through periodic audits.
As Anthropic scales to meet public-company standards, the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control environment over our technology stack is one of the most consequential things this team owns. As part of Security GRC's technical controls assurance function, you will be the voice on what the IT general controls must achieve to support SOX 404 compliance. In partnership with Internal Audit, you will define control requirements and acceptance criteria for the in-scope engineering systems and infrastructure that underpin financial reporting. You will pair with engineering as they design and implement against those requirements, and validate that what ships actually meets the bar before Internal Audit and our external auditors test it. You are the product owner for control design methodology and continuous control monitoring, initially around ITGCs, but extending into other areas of security and compliance to drive visibility where and when we need it.
Key responsibilities
Define control requirements and acceptance criteria across the core ITGC domains of logical access, change management, computer operations, and program development for SOX in-scope systems, including home-built platforms where the control has to be designed into the system rather than bolted on.
Set the bar for in-scope systems from day one. As financially significant systems are built, migrated, or replaced, define what the system must provide (auditability, segregation of duties, change control, immutable logging, evidence retention) before go-live, so controls are not retrofitted after the fact.
Pressure-test changes for SOX impact during design. Review major infrastructure, system, and agent framework changes for control impact while decisions are still cheap, and maintain a clear view of which changes alter the SOX scope, key control population, or evidence requirements.
Own second-line control monitoring and evidence readiness. Stand up continuous controls monitoring and automated evidence collection for ITGCs (control testing, walkthrough preparation, population and completeness validation, and mapping to the common controls framework). Materially raise automated evidence coverage and cut audit prep time.
Drive control deficiency remediation with cross functional partners. Track and root-cause ITGC deficiencies surfaced by monitoring, Internal Audit, or external audit; partner with engineering owners on remediation design; and assess whether remediation actually closes the gap before re-testing.
Assess scope changes through a SOX lens. When new products, entities, systems, or integrations come into scope, provide technical and compliance assessment of their impact on control design, evidence requirements, and engineering effort before commitments are made.
Maintain alignment with the broader compliance portfolio. Where SOX ITGCs overlap with SOC 2, ISO 27001/42001, or other frameworks, ensure controls are designed once and evidenced once, and that changes made for one framework do not silently break another.
Minimum qualifications
Thrive at the pace of a hypergrowth company. You're comfortable making calls with incomplete information and reprioritizing as scope shifts.
Have led or been a senior contributor to an ITGC program through SOX 404 readiness and/or at a public company, with a working command of PCAOB AS 2201, COSO 2013, and how external auditors scope, test, and evaluate technology controls and deficiencies.
Have genuine engineering fluency, possibly from an earlier engineering career: you can read code and Terraform, follow a CI/CD pipeline end to end, and challenge a design on its technical merits.
Have programming skills in Python or at least one systems language such as Go, Rust, or C/C++.
Have deep familiarity with developer platform, release engineering, cloud infrastructure, or ERP/financial systems control domains.
Understand the role of the second line: you can advise and challenge engineering without taking ownership of their controls, and you know where the line sits between your monitoring and Internal Audit's independent testing.
Are a strong collaborator and communicator across Finance, Engineering, Internal Audit, and external auditors.
Use Claude and other LLMs as daily working tools, and have grounded, specific views on which SOX assurance workflows AI can run today and which it can't yet.
Translate SOX and framework language into acceptance criteria engineers can build against, and translate engineering reality back into assurance language auditors and leadership can rely on.
Default to getting the requirement designed into the system rather than papering over the gap with procedure.
Preferred qualifications
A combination of audit or advisory experience (Big 4 or equivalent, ideally IT audit) with in-house experience at an AI-forward tech company, in either order.
Taken a company through a first-year SOX 404(a) and 404(b) assessment, including a first external ITGC audit.
Defined or assessed controls over home-built financially significant systems, usage-based billing, or revenue metering pipelines.
Defined or assessed controls for AI/ML systems or agents acting in production environments.
Stood up continuous controls monitoring or automated evidence programs.
Experience with SOC 1 reliance, service organization control mapping, and complementary user entity controls.
CISSP, CISA, CPA, or equivalent certification.
