Location: San Francisco, CA | Seattle, WA About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic is seeking a Program Manager to join our Accounting organization and help it run as one global team. Accounting is scaling at an unprecedented pace across multiple hubs, and the goals, rhythms, programs, and people that make up the team need to stay connected as we grow. In this role, you will own that connective tissue: the annual goal-setting cycle, the leadership team’s operating cadence, org-wide events and internal communications, and the programs that make a distributed team feel like one. You will partner with Accounting leadership, the People team, Finance Systems, and hub leads. This is a hands-on role with a lot of range: part chief of staff, part program manager, part culture builder. Responsibilities Goals and operating rhythm Run the annual goal setting process and the reporting that tracks progress against those goals. Look at how the org actually operates (meetings, handoffs, planning cycles, decision making) and fix what isn't working. Maintain one org-wide planning calendar that shows close, audit, and team milestones alongside company-wide and team events, so leaders can see the pressure points and plan around them. Build and maintain a simple set of org health metrics (attrition, engagement scores, hiring pipeline, training completion, survey trends) and report on them regularly. Leadership and org-wide events Run our extended leadership team (XLT) program, including agendas, meetings, follow-ups, and action items. Own planning and agenda for the annual offsite and run the quarterly team all-hands. Write the internal updates: a regular team newsletter, plus talking points when leadership needs to explain a change to the whole org. People and culture Coordinate projects across the org that support employee experience programs. Partner with the People team to roll out training and development programs for Accounting. Review team survey results, identify the themes, and build action plans to address the feedback. Follow through and report back to the team. Run hub programs, including visit and rotation programs, local hub events, and meeting norms that work across time zones, so we feel like one global team. Run recognition and team rituals: wins, milestones, anniversaries, and peer recognition, especially across hubs. Team operations Support contractor management, including onboarding, tracking, and coordination with the right partners. Keep the team's knowledge base current: wiki, org charts, role descriptions, and key process docs. Keep the team calendar accurate so everyone knows what's coming. Preferred qualifications 7+ years in program management, operations, chief of staff, or strategy roles. Experience inside a finance or accounting org is a plus, but not required. A track record of running recurring programs end to end and getting people to follow through without formal authority. Good judgment about what matters and what doesn't. You can handle a lot of moving pieces without dropping them. Clear, direct writing. You can brief a senior leader in a few sentences. Comfort with confidential information and sensitive people topics. Experience supporting distributed or global teams. You're organized, but you also know when a process is getting in the way and should be simplified. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $230,000 — $300,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. An overview of this role We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Change Record team within GitLab’s Source Code stage . As AI agents increasingly write code alongside people, every change needs a clear, trustworthy record of what changed, why, and who or what made it. You’ll build that record into GitLab’s source code experience, for humans and agents alike. This is a backend-focused role for an engineer with full-stack experience who enjoys balancing work on existing systems with new product development. That work happens in one of GitLab’s oldest and most complex product areas, where you’ll use Ruby on Rails to improve a critical system serving GitLab.com, self-managed instances, and GitLab Dedicated. Source Code provides the interface layer, through Gitaly, to the Git repositories behind a large share of GitLab traffic, so you’ll help keep it reliable through performance tuning, caching, rate limiting, observability, and resiliency, collaborating with product, design, security, Gitaly, Code Review, and Source Code Experience teams. Supporting production systems and improving established experiences are central to the role, especially while you’re onboarding, and over time you’ll also help build experiences for developers working with agents. You'll work remotely from the United Kingdom or Poland. What you’ll do Develop secure, well-tested, performant features and improvements using Ruby on Rails and GraphQL, among other technologies. Work through complex requirements and legacy constraints to deliver clear solutions while protecting the reliability of this critical system. Design and maintain backend services, APIs, data models, and business logic that support intuitive source code workflows. Collaborate across functions and teams, both asynchronously and synchronously, and involve domain experts when their input will improve the outcome. Use AI agents for well-scoped work when they can speed up delivery without sacrificing quality, and critically review their output. Write maintainable code that follows GitLab's standards and contribute to constructive code reviews. Help strengthen reliability by monitoring production health metrics, participating in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshooting incidents, contributing to root cause analysis, and improving observability and resiliency. Share knowledge through code review, technical documentation, and everyday collaboration while learning from others. What you’ll bring Professional experience building backend web applications, services, or application programming interfaces, with experience using Ruby and GraphQL. An understanding of relational databases, structured query language, data modeling, caching, background processing, and backend performance practices. Experience with full-stack development to build and maintain user-facing workflows and their underlying systems. Experience writing backend unit and integration tests, with familiarity with the testing pyramid, Git, and collaborative code review processes. Clear written and spoken English communication skills, including sharing useful status updates in a remote, asynchronous environment. The ability to manage assigned priorities, work through ambiguity, take ownership of your work, and seek guidance when needed. Experience using AI coding agents to speed up software development while critically reviewing their output. Bonus: you’ve built agents or agent-based workflows that run in production, not just prototypes. About the team The functional team works across Europe and North America, supporting both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration. It includes four engineers, comprising both backend and frontend engineers. We work closely with other Source Code teams, Agentic Preview, Repository Services, and Hardening, as well as other teams in the company such as the Gitaly team, and the AI Governance team. The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the EU, applicable in the specified country or countries only. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. The base salary range does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits.
