Location: Remote: United States; San Francisco HQ; Remote: Canada Workplace: Remote At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on their product, not infrastructure. Unlike complex hyperscalers or ephemeral edge/serverless solutions, Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability, allowing teams to launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. Whether you're building LLM-powered applications, scalable SaaS products, or async processing pipelines, Render empowers teams to move fast and scale confidently from MVP to millions of users. Our platform is trusted by over 7 million developers worldwide and continues to grow rapidly. In February 2026, we raised an additional $100M in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $260M, to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive—designed for the speed of modern AI development. We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you. APPLYING TO RENDER We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed. Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. About the Role As the Engineering Manager for Governance & Access, you will lead the team responsible for building the security, governance, and access capabilities that let Render's customers manage teams, permissions, and environments with confidence as they scale. You'll design these capabilities for a world where agents, not just humans, operate on Render, turning emerging agentic use cases into simple, reusable platform primitives across identity, authorization, credentials, and delegation. The problems span traditional IAM and emerging agent infrastructure, which is what distinguishes this role from a typical security or IAM job. You'll shape the team's structure as much as its roadmap. You'll also join at a formative moment: the team is small, the architectural foundations are still being defined, and the systems you build will become primitives used across millions of users. What You’ll Do - Lead and grow the Governance & Access team - Own the roadmap for governance, identity and access management, roles and permissions, and related compliance and security capabilities - Define how these capabilities extend to agents operating on Render, not only human users - Partner with the dedicated product and design partners already on the team to align roadmap with customer and platform needs - Build a strong hiring and interview process as the team scales, calibrating closely with recruiting and cross-functional partners - Make key technical and architectural decisions for access, identity, and governance systems - Coach and develop engineers, through performance management and career growth - Coordinate with the adjacent Security team and the rest of the Growth and Expansion org as the platform evolves - Balance security, usability, and speed, making pragmatic decisions about where strong guarantees are required and where the team can iterate What We’re Looking For - Strong people leadership - the top priority for this role - Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the flexibility to adapt and grow as the team's scope evolves - Experience building and scaling a team from an early stage - A track record of managing and developing engineers, including hiring and performance management - Ability to partner closely with product and design without needing to fill those functions yourself - Background from either a startup or a larger company is fine. What matters is experience and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment Nice-to-Haves - Experience in security, governance, or access management (IAM, RBAC, compliance) - Exposure to building for AI agents or agentic systems - Experience managing senior (IC5-level) engineers - Background in developer platforms or B2B SaaS products This is an opportunity to help define what secure access looks like when software increasingly acts on behalf of people. If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need. BENEFITS - 4 weeks of paid vacation. - 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return. - Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans. - 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs and HSAs are available as well. - Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, etc. - Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy. - Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders. - Continuous learning benefits & related support. This position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship. At Render's discretion, the business may sponsor existing visa transfers. Applicants who require sponsorship must receive business authorization. Render is an equal-opportunity employer. We know that employing a team rich in diverse thoughts, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, product, and community to flourish. We make all employment decisions including hiring, evaluation, termination, promotional, and training opportunities, without regard to race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, physical handicap, mental disability, medical condition, disability, gender or identity or expression, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, marital status, height and/or weight. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Location: Hybrid - San Francisco About Vercel: Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company, freeing people and agents to ship what's next. For more than a decade we've helped builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience. Now we're scaling our products for both agents and people to ship and run software, built in the open and trusted by OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. About the role We're looking for a People Systems Manager, Workday to join our People team and build the foundation for how People technology operates at Vercel. We've recently implemented Workday as our system of record, and we're just getting started. As we expand its capabilities and build toward public-company-ready operations, we need someone to own the architecture, security, business processes, and governance behind it. We're building a headless People technology experience, with Workday as the engine behind it, not a traditional HR technology stack. Employees and managers will initiate transactions, access their data, and navigate People processes directly from the tools they already use. You'll make that possible, working closely with integration engineers to connect Workday's security model and Business Process Framework to the experiences we're building. This is a hands-on IC role with real ownership over how Workday operates at Vercel. You'll set standards, make architectural decisions, and build systems that scale, reducing manual work, strengthening controls, and creating data our growing People analytics function can trust. If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you're located beyond that distance, the role is fully remote. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team. What you'll do Own the configuration, security architecture, and Business Process Framework that power Workday at Vercel, and make the architectural calls that balance flexibility, scalability, and control as we grow. Partner with integration engineers to design business processes and security configurations for transactions initiated through Slack, internal apps, and other tools, making Workday accessible beyond its native interface without compromising governance or data integrity. Establish role-based security, segregation of duties, change management, and audit controls from the ground up, and automate what's needed for SOX, SOC 2, and public company readiness without adding friction. Configure and optimize business processes for core People operations, equity, commissions, one-time payments, and clawbacks, partnering with Finance, Total Rewards, Payroll, and Legal to bring new capabilities into Workday accurately and auditably. Set standards for data governance, reporting architecture, calculated fields, and data quality, so Workday stays a reliable source of truth as our analytics and self-service reporting mature. Own release management, regression testing, and configuration change control. Find the root causes of recurring friction and fix them through better configuration, automation, and process design, and partner with auditors on evidence, walkthroughs, and remediation. What you need 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience across security, business processes, reporting, and core configuration. Strong grasp of Workday's security architecture and Business Process Framework, including role-based access, security groups, business process policies, approvals, and segregation of duties. Experience building or evolving a Workday environment, including configuration standards, governance frameworks, and scalable business processes in a growing organization. Experience designing and implementing Workday security, governance, and internal controls that support SOX compliance and audit readiness. Workday reporting and data management experience, including calculated fields, advanced and composite reports, data validation, and reporting governance. Experience in interconnected HR technology environments, understanding how Workday security, business processes, and data architecture affect downstream systems and automated workflows. Bonus if you Have experience with Workday Payroll or complex compensation processes, including equity and commission payments. Have helped a high-growth technology company scale its People Systems infrastructure or prepare for an IPO. Have used AI or automation to improve system administration, data quality, controls, or operational efficiency. Compensation & Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $167,000 - $204,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process. Disclosures: Privacy: Please review our Job Applicant Privacy Policy for more information on how we handle your data. Now we’d love to see what you can build. If you’re applying, try n8n out - whether you’re technical or not - and share a screenshot of your first workflow with us. The easiest place to start is here: app.n8n.cloud/register http://app.n8n.cloud/register. We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us. Your main goal will be to make it simple and reliable for customers to buy, pay for, and grow their use of n8n. You'll own the foundations of how n8n's commercial system works: licensing and entitlements, customer accounts, and the metering and billing platform for both Cloud and Enterprise. Today these live across several teams and two billing stacks; you'll bring them into one stable home that the rest of the company builds on. This is a foundations role. You build the system that pricing and packaging decisions run on, rather than running price experiments yourself. To do so, here are your core responsibilities: OWN THE LICENSING & BILLING STRATEGY & ROADMAP - Define and communicate the product strategy and roadmap for Licensing & Billing in partnership with Engineering, Product leadership, Finance, and go-to-market. - Prioritize foundational investments based on revenue integrity, enterprise needs, data correctness, and engineering effort, and make trade-offs explicit. - Lead discovery with enterprise customers, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and RevOps to understand how n8n is bought, renewed, and grown today, and where that breaks. LICENSING, ENTITLEMENTS & ACCOUNTS - Own the license server and entitlement model: issuance, renewal, and validation across Cloud, self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments, with one source of truth for which plan or deal grants which features. - Introduce "account" as a first-class product primitive (accounts, purchases, license keys, activations) and expose it as the API contract our customer-facing console and multi-instance management are built on. - Productize the deal-to-entitlement flow so a closed deal in Salesforce creates or updates entitlements without manual steps. METERING & BILLING PLATFORM - Own usage metering and billing for Cloud and Enterprise, including subscription billing: what counts as a billable execution, quota consumption, and overage charging. - Lead the migration off Paddle Classic and unify Cloud and Enterprise billing into one platform. - Build the mechanics for usage-based enterprise billing and reliable overage charging. CROSS-ORG ALIGNMENT - Make the architecture and mechanism decisions (entitlement model, billing platform, enterprise invoicing path) and align closely with Finance and go-to-market on each of them. Every decision here touches money; you bring people along rather than inform them afterwards. - Hold clear boundaries with adjacent teams: the customer console, execution limits, and access control live elsewhere; you own the data and mechanics they rely on. - Establish clear success measures and keep the squad accountable for outcomes, not only delivery. REQUIREMENTS Must-haves - Billing or licensing product experience: You have 6+ years in Product, with a substantial part spent owning a billing, licensing, entitlement, or quote-to-cash system at a B2B SaaS company. - Shipped through Finance and RevOps: You've driven a cross-functional systems change where Finance, Sales Ops, and Engineering all had a say, and you got it live. - Systems and data-model depth: You can design or critique an entity model, reason about reconciliation and idempotency in a sync, read an API contract, and explain why two systems reading the same events end up with different numbers. - Attention to detail: You know that if the billing data is wrong, everything built on it inherits the error, and you sequence work accordingly. - Prioritization under ambiguity: You make trade-offs explicit and connect foundational or data-quality work to commercial outcomes. - Ownership and autonomy: You grab problems without being asked, fix what you see broken, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction. - Exceptional communication: You're equally at home with engineers, the Finance team, and Sales, and you can make billing trade-offs legible to all of them. - Enterprise reality: You understand what self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments mean for licensing and metering. Nice-to-haves - Usage-based billing: You've owned usage-based or hybrid (subscription plus usage) billing. - Vendor billing stacks: You've worked hands-on with Paddle, Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora or similar, and know where they break at enterprise contract volume. - Migration experience: You've run a billing-provider migration. - Hands-on ability: You can read code, query data, or prototype, even if you're not shipping it. - CRM integration: You've worked on Salesforce or CRM-to-billing integrations. - Domain familiarity: You know workflow automation, agent orchestration, or open-source / developer-community products. - Writing culture: You default to writing things down to create clarity and alignment. Why join us? At n8n, you'll be in the middle of the AI revolution. The shift from deterministic automation to agent autonomy is a genuinely open design space, and n8n has a credible claim to owning it. Every plan we sell, every enterprise contract, and every agent run that gets metered and billed runs on the foundation you own: licensing, entitlements, accounts, and the billing platform across Cloud and Enterprise. Your work directly shapes how n8n makes money and how easily customers can buy, grow, and trust what they pay for, from self-serve Cloud to air-gapped and OEM deployments. You'll join one of Europe's fastest growing startups at the sweet spot: small enough to have real impact and be empowered, big enough that your work already reaches massive scale and serious enterprise customers. You'll work with experienced engineers, Finance, and go-to-market on problems where the details are the product, in an AI-native, empowered culture of humble, kind, yet driven and direct people, where you're hired to think, not just to execute. And with our fair-code model, a passionate open-source community gives you a direct feedback loop on everything you ship. Sound like a challenge you're excited to take on? Apply now, and help us build the commercial foundation of the future of reliable AI automation. n8n is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
