It's early-stage enough that the people who join now will shape how it gets designed and operated for years to come.
This posting isn't tied to one fixed opening. We're building a pool of strong engineers so we can move fast as specific roles open, and we'll reach out directly about where you'd fit.

Our recruiting team reviews your background against current and upcoming openings on this program
If there's a fit, we'll reach out for an initial conversation about where you'd land
From there, you'll follow the standard process for that specific role: hiring manager interview, technical interview (often including a technical challenge), hiring team interview, and an offer decision

WHY WE'RE OPENING THIS APPLICATION
We're growing a new engineering effort in Valencia that sits alongside our proven SAR satellite business: an advanced satellite capability, built from the ground up. It's early enough that your input on how the team works, and what it builds, will matter for years to come, backed by a company that already has satellites in orbit and customers using them.
This posting isn't tied to one fixed opening. We're building a pool of strong engineers so we can move fast as specific roles open, and we'll reach out directly about where you'd fit.
WHO WE ARE
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Since this is an open application rather than a posting for one specific role, here's what happens after you apply:
Our recruiting team reviews your background against current and upcoming openings on this program
If there's a fit, we'll reach out for an initial conversation about where you'd land
From there, you'll follow the standard process for that specific role: hiring manager interview, technical interview (often including a technical challenge), hiring team interview, and an offer decision

- Reports to: Head of Intelligence, ICEYE Germany
- Employment type: Permanent
- Workplace model: On-site / shift-based
- Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, and German Ü2/Ü3 where required)
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
Be the operational backbone that keeps ICEYE Germany's intelligence delivery running — from the moment a tasking request comes in to the moment actionable insight reaches the customer.
You are the person who ensures satellite collection is coordinated, data is monitored, and customers receive timely, accurate intelligence products. You will work across mission planning, data interpretation, and direct customer engagement — keeping ICEYE Germany's operational tempo high and its output trustworthy. You will also serve as a key interface to Germany-based government and defence customers, translating their operational requirements into executable satellite collection plans.
This is an operational role with real stakes. The intelligence you coordinate and deliver informs decisions in national security, disaster response, and critical infrastructure protection.
WHO WE ARE
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Run the operations cell. Manage and prioritize satellite tasking requests for Germany and surrounding regions. Coordinate with internal mission planning teams to optimize collection schedules and ensure timely execution of customer requirements.
Own real-time monitoring. Track satellite passes, collection status, and delivery timelines across active missions. Respond to time-sensitive or high-priority tasking requests with speed and precision.
Interpret and report. Review SAR imagery and derived products to identify relevant changes or events. Generate concise, actionable intelligence reports for customers and support rapid dissemination during critical situations — natural disasters, security incidents, and time-critical government requirements.
Engage customers and stakeholders. Act as the primary operational point of contact for Germany-based customers, including government and defence agencies. Translate their mission requirements into executable tasking plans and keep them informed on collection status and product delivery.
Maintain the operational picture. Keep situational awareness of regional events — across Germany and the wider DACH region — that affect ISR priorities and collection planning.
Strengthen the function. Contribute to process improvements, operational best practices, and the onboarding and training of new team members as the cell grows.
What We Measure After Twelve Months
- Germany-focused tasking requests are executed on time and to customer specification, with no critical gaps in coverage.
- Customer satisfaction among German government and defence accounts is high, with repeat engagement on priority programmes.
- Operational processes are documented, repeatable, and resilient to staff changes or surge demand.
- The ISR cell is capable of supporting classified collection workflows at the classification levels enabled by ICEYE Germany's security posture.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must haves:
- Experience in ISR operations, geospatial analysis, satellite operations, or a directly comparable operational environment — ideally within the Bundeswehr, a German federal security agency (BND, BfV, Federal Police), or a defence industry context.
- Familiarity with SAR imagery and remote sensing data, and the ability to interpret complex datasets under time pressure.
- Knowledge of GIS tools such as QGIS or ArcGIS, or comparable imagery analysis platforms.
- Background with government, defence, or security customers in Germany or the DACH region, and an understanding of how these organisations task, consume, and act on intelligence products.
- Experience in a 24/7 operations or command centre environment is a strong advantage.
- Engineering or software background that supports understanding of data pipelines, collection systems, or geospatial platforms.
- Eligibility for German security clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung Ü2/Ü3) is required. Existing clearance is a significant advantage.
- Fluent English, with the ability to communicate clearly at both working and customer level. German is beneficial but not a hard criteria.
- Valid European drivers license B

Location: Espoo; Berlin
Workplace: Hybrid
Role highlights:
- Senior Cloud Network Engineer
- Location: Espoo, Finland or Berlin, Germany
- Department: Product Networking
- Reports to: Engineering Manager
- Employment type: Permanent
- Workplace model: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)
- Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)
Why this role matters:
As a Senior Cloud Network Engineer, you'll help build the network behind a mission that matters: we defend nations and protect environments from space. ICEYE's satellite operations, ground systems and customer deliveries depend on cloud and hybrid networks that have to hold up when it matters most. You'll be one of the go-to experts for how those networks are architected in AWS and connected to the rest of our infrastructure, leading the subsystems you own and shaping how the team builds them. Few network engineers get to work on infrastructure like this.
Who We Are
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
- Lead multi-sprint work on the cloud network subsystems you own, from architecture through rollout and day-to-day operation
- Design and evolve ICEYE's AWS network architecture, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connects and VPN connectivity
- Connect cloud environments securely to ground stations, data centers and on-premises sites
- Manage cloud network infrastructure as code with Terraform and version-controlled change through CI/CD
- Act as a go-to expert for deep network issues in production, and put patterns and guardrails in place that prevent them from coming back
- Shape how the team designs, reviews and documents network changes, with the impact on other teams in mind
- Own critical production systems with a focus on reliability, observability and security against real-world threats
What we're looking for
Must haves:
- A solid network engineering foundation built in data center, service provider or enterprise network environments
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating network architecture in AWS, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connects and VPNs
- Strong experience with BGP and routing across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Infrastructure as code for networking with Terraform, Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with secure network design, including firewalling, segmentation and zero trust access
- Ability to lead network architecture decisions and to explain and defend the trade-offs with peers
- Pragmatic, collaborative mindset with the ability to balance technical quality with business needs
Nice to haves:
- Software development experience, especially for network applications and automation (for example Python or Go)
- Strong Linux networking skills
Application Process
- TA Partner Screen Call
- Hiring Manager Interview
- Technical Interview
- Values & Fit Interview
- SVP of Engineering Interview
