Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity. Software Engineer II DevEx Location: San Mateo (Hybrid) DevEx team builds simulation tools that help PlayStation engineers develop, test, and troubleshoot software in a reliable, repeatable environment. These tools shorten feedback cycles, support earlier validation, and make complex development workflows easier to use. As a Software Engineer II, you will design and deliver capabilities that improve the accuracy, reliability, and usability of our simulation environment. Your work will include simulator functionality, integration with development and test workflows, automation, diagnostics, and the tools engineers use to configure and interact with the environment. You will own well-defined features from design through rollout, collaborate with engineering and quality teams across PlayStation, and turn recurring development and testing challenges into reliable, maintainable product improvements. What you’ll do: Design, implement, test, and document production-quality C++ features for simulation and developer tooling. Build and maintain software abstractions, simulated services, and client/server integrations that reproduce important system behaviors in a development environment. Improve core developer workflows such as environment setup, simulator startup, configuration, input handling, debugging, log collection, and failure recovery. Improve and contribute to build, dependency, packaging, and release workflows for the simulation platform using modern build tools, dependency managers, containers, and CI/CD pipelines. Create unit, integration, and end-to-end tests that catch regressions early and move high-value validation into continuous integration. Diagnose failures that cross process, library, container, and platform boundaries; produce clear root-cause analysis and durable fixes. Contribute to shared libraries and developer-facing interfaces including versioning, compatibility, migration guidance, and coordination with consuming teams. Write architecture notes, setup guides, troubleshooting steps, and release documentation that developers can use without direct support from the team. Partner with engineers, QE, product owners, and adjacent platform teams to define integration contracts, sequence cross-team changes, and deliver complete features. Participate in design and code reviews, give actionable feedback, and improve the team’s engineering practices through the work you ship. What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 4+ years of professional software-development experience building systems software, platform software, developer tools, infrastructure or similar technical products. Strong modern C++ development skills and practical experience developing and debugging software on Linux. Experience debugging multi-process, client/server, or platform-integrated software using logs, traces, debuggers, and reproducible test cases. Experience building automated tests and integrating them into CI/CD workflows. Working knowledge of build systems, dependency management, source control, and release practices for a multi-repository codebase. Ability to take a defined problem from technical design through implementation, validation, documentation, and rollout. Clear written and verbal communication, especially when coordinating interfaces or diagnosing issues across team boundaries. It would be a plus if you have: Experience with simulation, emulation, hardware abstraction, service virtualization, or comparable development environments. Experience with containerized development using Docker, dev containers, WSL, or comparable tooling. Familiarity with CMake, package-management tools, CI systems, collaborative source-control workflows, or cross-platform build toolchains. Experience designing or integrating IPC, client/server API’s, shared libraries, or SDK’s. Experience developing complex platform software or software for resource-constrained environments. Experience supporting developer tools as a product: gathering feedback, measuring friction, improving diagnostics, and simplifying onboarding. Working knowledge of one or more additional languages used in tooling or platform development, such as Python, Rust, JavaScript, or TypeScript. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role also may be eligible for a bonus package. Click here to learn more. Location: Ukraine; Poland; Spain; Portugal; Romania; Georgia At SPD Technology, we bring together a team of like-minded people who are driven by the desire to bring value through their work, united in their commitment to high performance and delivering custom, cutting-edge tech solutions that drive clients' growth. We empower our people with a culture of excellence, and enable them with the opportunity to uphold their accountability to contribute on each level. We value humanity and collaboration, encourage professional and personal growth, and foster a supportive and flexible work environment where everyone's contribution is welcomed. We are looking for Senior Payments Processing Engineer to join us as part of our team About the role As a Senior Payments Processing Engineer you will join a product team building payment infrastructure for merchants and partner platforms. The platform enables businesses to accept payments, manage payouts, process card and bank transactions, and handle payment-related operations without relying on multiple disconnected providers. The engineering challenges go far beyond basic payment integrations. The platform handles payment orchestration, transaction processing, settlement and reconciliation, payouts, fraud and KYC integrations, and complex failure scenarios across systems that the team does not fully control. This role is a strong fit for an engineer who understands how money actually moves through payment systems and is comfortable owning critical backend flows end to end. Tech Stack TypeScript across the board, in a pnpm monorepo NestJS backend services; Next.js and React on the front end PostgreSQL, with SQL-first data modeling and versioned migrations Event-driven service orchestration, webhooks, and idempotent processing Acquirer and vendor integrations for card/ACH acceptance, fraud screening, payouts, and KYC Managed cloud infrastructure, containerized services, CI/CD on GitHub AI-assisted development as a standard part of the toolchain, not a side experiment Work environment Full-time, remote. Daily collaboration with a US-based team (4–6 hours of overlap with US Central Time is required) As a qualified expert You will Own end-to-end payment flows in TypeScript/NestJS services: authorization, capture, void, refund, dispute handling, and payout initiation and confirmation. Build and maintain acquirer and processor integrations, keeping the platform acquirer-agnostic behind clean internal abstractions. Design embedded and hosted checkout experiences (hosted fields, iframes, tokenization) that keep sensitive cardholder and bank data out of internal systems and minimize PCI scope. Implement fee calculation and rate logic, including tiers, interchange-plus, flat structures, rounding rules, special rates, and edge cases. Build the reconciliation and settlement layer to match processor reports and settlement files against internal records and surface breaks. Design event handling incorporating idempotency keys, out-of-order and duplicate webhooks, retries with backoff, and state machines. Integrate fraud, bank-account verification, and KYC providers, tuning decisioning against real outcomes. Handle ACH mechanics including submission windows, returns, return codes, NOCs, and retry rules. Ensure correctness in the domain, maintaining complete audit trails and producing reconciliation evidence. Act as the team's payments expert, advising product on rail capabilities and reviewing payment-adjacent code. What Success Looks Like First 30 days — you can trace any transaction through the platform end to end, and you have documented the gaps and risks you see in current flows. First 90 days — you own a critical payment domain including its specs, tests, and reconciliation checks, and you have shipped a meaningful improvement to reliability or correctness. First 6 months — payment orchestration in your area is provably correct and observable, adding a new processor or payout rail is a well-understood exercise rather than an adventure, and you are the person the team and the business rely on for payments judgment. We're looking for you if you have 6+ years building production software , with at least 3 years hands-on in payments , and direct ownership of live payment flows. Concrete experience integrating a payment processor, gateway, or acquirer (Adyen, Stripe, Braintree, Worldpay, Checkout.com, Fiserv, or similar) beyond a starter integration — including webhooks, reporting, and edge-case handling. Practical understanding of the card lifecycle (auth, capture, settlement, refund, chargeback, representment) and of ACH/bank rails (NACHA basics, returns, timing). Working knowledge of PCI DSS obligations and of the architectural patterns that reduce scope: tokenization, hosted fields, iframe isolation, and data-flow segregation. Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills and solid relational data modeling — you can design a schema whose invariants make an inconsistent ledger structurally difficult. A rigorous approach to reconciliation and idempotency, informed by having been on the hook when something didn't balance. Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tooling, paired with the discipline to verify — in payments, plausible-looking code that is subtly wrong is the expensive kind. Strong English communication skills and confidence working directly with a US-based team. Ability to work with 4–6 hours of daily overlap with US Central Time . Bonus points Experience with platform, marketplace, or facilitator models (split payments, sub-merchant onboarding, multi-party flows). Experience with payouts and disbursement rails, including bank-account collection, verification, and payout status handling. Experience with fraud and risk tooling, and bank-account validation services. Experience with e-commerce plugin or SDK development (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento). Knowledge of multi-currency, cross-border, or alternative payment methods. Experience with event sourcing applied to financial state, and double-entry ledger design.
