We work across the entire spectrum of cloud offerings, from Ubuntu itself to virtualisation and private cloud, Kubernetes, and the implementation of sophisticated open source solutions such as MLops platforms, data platforms and more. We are rapidly expanding the range of open source solutions we offer and deliver to customers, as we move into new industries like telco, finance, health care and media we design and develop new open source solutions to meet their needs.
We believe that Engineering Managers should be outstanding engineers themselves. They should feel completely at home troubleshooting technical issues and having technical presales conversations with customers. Managers and team members also take part in presales conversations to provide technical advice during the sales process.
A Cloud Professional Services Manager is responsible for line management and career guidance. The ability to develop engineering talent, to represent your team from a technical perspective, and to drive collaboration with other teams and customers are all critical to success in this role. You are also expected to actively participate in technical presales to help our department achieve our quarterly goals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Passion and a track record of developing and growing people
Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring engineers

We believe in pairing engineers with work that matches their strengths and interests. This means that there is significant flexibility in staffing engineers across the company.
Specific responsibilities might include:
- Scoping and building brand new proof of concept products, sometimes directly with partner customers, that could later be scaled to capture entirely new markets.
- Improving our existing products to ensure that they’re intuitive, powerful and make innovative use of our research team’s latest break-throughs. This could involve making sweeping UX changes, adding significant functionality, or building integrations with other common consumer/enterprise solutions.
- Maintaining and strengthening our internal infrastructure as we scale and grow to ensure that our products remain live, performant and secure.
- Working to collect, manage, and process massive-scale datasets to lay the groundwork for the next generation of voice models at the forefront of generative AI.

We're enabling high-performing, rock-solid MongoDB deployments on any cloud or platform our customers choose. We want to create the world's best open source analog to MongoDB Altas or Amazon DocumentDB, which can be owned, controlled and operated by end-users on their own multi-cloud or on-premise environments.
Canonical is looking for an experienced Python developer with a background in MongoDB who will help us to build a fully managed MongoDB solution based on Juju. We're aiming to build the most reliable and secure way to deploy and operate MongoDB on machines, VMs, public cloud and Kubernetes. The MongoDB team is small, meaning you will be a key contributor and your work will have a significant impact on the product and the broader ecosystem.
Who you are
You love technology and working with brilliant people.
You are an accomplished senior Python programmer that enjoys challenging projects in mission-critical environments.
You have experience operating and managing MongoDB clusters.
You are experienced with modern infrastructure deployment automations or with traditional Linux systems administration, operations, and package management.
You are passionate about quality and automatic testing.
Work with one of the industry's pioneers in open source with intelligent engineers at every level from engineer to CTO and CEO level. At Canonical we've honed our remote-first culture since 2004, established in the company from the very beginning. Enjoy a competitive salary, the flexibility to work and live where you wish, and the chance to work exclusively on impactful open source projects.
Canonical is proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better platform for our users and customers. This is something we value deeply and we encourage everyone to come be a part of the world of Ubuntu.
