ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for freelance Audiobook Specialists to join our fast-growing Productions team. Productions is a new marketplace that brings together our AI audio tools and a network of human experts to unlock high-quality, human-edited transcripts, subtitles, dubs, audiobooks and more at scale for our users and customers. While Productions is just getting started, we already manage content workflows for some of the world’s top YouTube channels, book publishers, and media & entertainment businesses. You will help choose what to test, build the smallest experiment that answers the important questions, and turn promising results into production software. The existing Data Engineer intake centers on ingestion, Snowflake operations, workflow orchestration, data quality, and collaboration with analytics partners. You will own ingestion, schema changes, and checks that show whether shared datasets are current and correct. You will work with analytics engineers and data scientists to define those datasets for reporting, analysis, and AI-assisted tools. WHAT YOU WILL DO - Build batch and streaming pipelines that connect operational databases, product events, billing systems, and external sources to the internal data platform. - Make ingestion recoverable through change-data capture, schema-change handling, idempotent processing, and safe backfills. - Operate and improve Snowflake, including access controls, workload management, query performance, and compute and storage costs. - Improve orchestration and deployment workflows so engineers can test, ship, and debug pipelines safely. - Build data-quality checks that detect stale, missing, duplicated, or inconsistent records before they reach downstream consumers. - Work with analytics partners on shared data models, source definitions, and documentation. Our customers include global media broadcasters, publishers, gaming companies and major film studios. We’re hiring engineers to build the systems behind it: the platforms that let human expertise and AI work together at the quality our clients expect, and the labelling tools our research teams use to improve our models. You’ll own a scope in one of these areas: - Human data platform: the labelling and evaluation platform research uses to continuously improve our models. Location: Bucharest Workplace: Hybrid As an engineer focused on backend systems at Alchemy, you'll be working with one of the most sophisticated and high-throughput distributed systems in the blockchain world. You'll focus on architecting and building new systems as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally. You'll have the autonomy to shape technical solutions, influence architectural decisions, and own services throughout their lifecycle. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure, APIs, and services at scale. - Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems behind high-volume, low-latency APIs. - Solve hard scalability, latency, and performance problems in live production systems. - Lead system design discussions and shape the direction of our backend architecture. - Set the best practices for backend development—throughput, reliability, and latency. - Validate performance through automated testing, benchmarking, and production-driven improvements. - Trace production issues across services and the full stack, and ship fixes that durably improve reliability.
