Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
Clear communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team.
An interest in learning from others, sharing knowledge, and growing your technical skills.
Frontend development experience, including JavaScript or Vue.js, is helpful.
Experience with Elasticsearch, graph databases, vulnerability management, application security, or related transferable skills is helpful.
About the team

The team owns areas including the security dashboard, vulnerability reports, and ingestion pipelines, and serves as an important interface for security-related features across GitLab. The team is focused on moving beyond lists of findings toward workflows that help customers prioritize and coordinate remediation. You’ll collaborate asynchronously with a small, distributed group and with related security teams, including the Agentic Security Flows team.

About the Job:
As a Staff Engineer on LaunchDarkly's product engineering team, you'll design and build the next generation platform that helps all LaunchDarkly users (human and agent) interact and use our services. Our product suite enables customers to run A/B tests, measure the impact of feature changes, and optimize experiences, and is integrated with a feature management and observability platform that processes trillions of evaluations daily.
This role sits at the forefront of our next generation of user interaction with our suite of products. We have a sophisticated set of users, and we have now learned through working with them and observing their usage patterns what a major redesign can do to help give them a more pleasant, productive, and efficient experience with our products.
You'll work across our entire product suite, focusing on understanding the key use cases, building the experiences and the supporting technical platform, and providing guidance and tools for other teams to be able to build better experiences more quickly.
Deep technical experience, a scientific mindset, and the ability to influence product and technical direction are critical. You'll lead by example: setting the bar for rigor, mentoring teammates, and owning systems end to end, including on-call.
Responsibilities:
Build and design our next generation of user experiences (human and agent) across the LaunchDarkly suite.
Collaborate with other product teams to ensure they have the tools and platform to build great user experiences.
Mentor engineers and raise the team's bar for technical rigor and system design.
Own operational excellence for the experience platform - monitoring, observability, incident response, on-call. Robust telemetry and alerting.
Qualifications:
10+ years building large-scale products with sophisticated audiences that are looking for help and leverage to do complex work.
Has built and designed the interfaces and supporting technology platforms in consumer-grade enterprise applications.
Technical leadership: setting direction, writing specs, influencing across teams.
BA/BS in mathematics, statistics, data science, or related field, or preferentially a graduate degree.
Plus: Go, Python, or similar (we use Go for services, Python for stats).
Plus: Event-driven architectures and large-scale data processing for high-volume event ingestion and analysis.
Plus: Cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and data stores (ClickHouse, Redis, DynamoDB, Kafka, etc.).
Plus: Experiment lifecycle tooling: flag–experiment integration, metric frameworks, automated monitoring.
Plus: Familiarity with the competitive landscape (Statsig, Eppo, GrowthBook, Optimizely).
Plus: Funnel analysis, causal inference, or Bayesian experimentation experience.

About LaunchDarkly:
Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.
The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:
Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability

About the Job:
LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Experimentation team.
The Experimentation team is building one of the company’s most strategic product areas: a platform that helps leading engineering organizations move beyond intuition and make product decisions with real statistical confidence.
Sitting at the intersection of large-scale systems, data science, and user experience, the team is creating a best-in-class experimentation product that lets customers set up, manage, and analyze experiments with ease while still earning the trust of even the most rigorous data teams.
From warehouse-native analysis to experimentation workflows built on top of LaunchDarkly’s massive feature management scale, this team is tackling ambitious technical problems with visible customer impact and a clear opportunity to define the future of modern software experimentation.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and operate the services that power this product, contribute to technical direction, and help deliver new functionality to customers.
You will work closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers across LaunchDarkly to solve complex, data-intensive problems with meaningful customer impact.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs that power LaunchDarkly’s Experimentation product.
Own backend components across their lifecycle, including technical discovery, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
Build and evolve systems supporting experiment setup, event data ingestion, metric computation, results processing, and results presentation.
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical proposals, making thoughtful trade-offs around scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and maintainability.
Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, and adjacent engineering teams to translate customer needs and product goals into reliable technical solutions.
Collaborate with Data Platform, Warehouse Integrations, SDK, and other teams on shared data flows, services, and cross-team dependencies.
Investigate complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
Improve observability, testing, deployment safety, operational processes, and the reliability of the systems you build.
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and take ownership of production systems in a you-build-it-you-run-it culture.

WHO WE ARE
Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkpYpWfEK5s. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
WHO WE ARE:
This role sits on the EMEA Leadership Team and reports to the General Manager, EMEA.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:
- Own the GTM strategy, operating rhythm, and growth plan for Germany, with accountability for overall regional revenue outcomes across Sales Assist and Self Serve contribution.
- Lead as a second-line manager: hire, coach, and develop frontline leaders and IC teams across Business Development, Solutions Consulting, Outcomes Architecture, Forward Deployed Architecture/Engineering, and supporting GTM functions.
- Scale a country-first GTM motion that brings Notion closer to German customers through local executive engagement, market nuance, and faster field-level decision-making.
- Accelerate the land engine by opening the right front doors, growing professional workspaces, increasing net-new and upgrade opportunities, and connecting self-serve signals to sales-assisted motion.
- Win lighthouse customers and turn them into market momentum by making them wildly successful, telling their story locally, and using those wins to influence peer companies across Germany.
- Embed Notion’s AI-era GTM model across the team, including agent-enabled customer journeys, first-agent workflow activation, AI/agent demo proficiency, and stronger “build with the customer” motions.
- Make agentic transformation central to the German GTM motion: help customers identify high-value workflows, build and deploy Notion Agents, automate cross-functional work, and measure outcomes from AI adoption.
- Partner tightly with Solutions Consultants, Outcomes Architects, Forward Deployed Architects/Engineers, Professional Services, and Channel to reduce handoffs and deliver faster, more durable customer value.
- Build “sell with” partner motions in Germany, including partner-sourced pipeline, co-sell plays, enablement, AI/agentic solution packages, and joint account planning.
- Establish Notion as a visible force in the German ecosystem through executive dinners, field events, startup and community engagement, partner activations, and customer advocacy.
- Represent the voice of German customers back to Product, PMM, Marketing, and EMEA leadership, especially around AI transformation, enterprise requirements, security, compliance, localization, and competitive dynamics.
- Create a talent destination in Germany by hiring builder-oriented leaders and ICs, raising the craft bar, and developing the next generation of AI-native GTM talent.
- Drive operational excellence across forecasting, pipeline quality, territory planning, inspection cadence, performance management, and cross-functional execution.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
A strategic and hands-on GTM operator who has scaled enterprise SaaS or AI businesses in Germany and knows how to build a market, not just inherit one. You have led through managers, owned complex revenue outcomes, and created local market momentum through customers, partners, community, and talent.
You combine second-line leadership with builder energy. You can set a crisp country strategy, install the operating system to execute it, and step into the field when needed — whether joining an executive customer conversation, sharpening a pipeline plan, coaching a manager, or helping the team translate a customer problem into an AI-powered, agentic workflow.
You are excited by Notion’s shift to an AI-native, country-first GTM model and believe the best GTM teams will increasingly be builders: BDRs who identify transformation opportunities, Solutions Consultants who build with customers in the room, Outcomes Architects who turn early workflows into durable adoption, and Forward Deployed Architects/Engineers who design the technical systems behind complex agentic workflows.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING:
- 12+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years SaaS or AI sales & GTM teams in Germany.
- Proven second-line leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing frontline managers and high-performing IC teams.
- Track record of owning and exceeding revenue targets across new business, expansion, and renewal/churn dynamics.
- Deep knowledge of the German enterprise and startup ecosystem, including executive buyer networks, local partner channels, and market-specific buying dynamics.
- Experience building or scaling a regional/country business in a high-growth or ambiguous environment.
- Experience selling, implementing, or leading GTM teams around AI, automation, agentic workflows, collaboration, productivity, developer, or data products.
- Strong strategic judgment: ability to define a country plan, segment the market, prioritize accounts and plays, and align cross-functional teams around outcomes.
- Operational rigor across forecasting, pipeline generation, inspection, performance management, territory planning, and sales process.
- Executive presence with CIO, CTO, CPO, COO, and business transformation buyers, with the ability to shape a compelling AI and agentic workflow narrative.
- Strong understanding of modern GTM motions across Business Development, Solutions Consulting, Outcomes Architecture, Forward Deployed Architecture/Engineering, Professional Services, Channel, Marketing, RevOps, and Product.
- Builder mentality and deep AI curiosity: comfortable learning, demoing, and coaching teams on agent-first workflows, proof-of-value motions, and customer co-building.
- Fluency in German and English.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience launching or scaling a country-first or regional GTM operating model.
- Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, APIs, webhooks, connectors, data residency, AI governance, and technical evaluation processes.
- Experience scaling partner, channel, marketplace, or consultant-led GTM motions around AI or workflow transformation.
