An overview of this role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our
Change Record
team within GitLab’s
Source Code stage
. As AI agents increasingly write code alongside people, every change needs a clear, trustworthy record of what changed, why, and who or what made it. You’ll build that record into GitLab’s source code experience, for humans and agents alike. This is a backend-focused role for an engineer with full-stack experience who enjoys balancing work on existing systems with new product development.
That work happens in one of GitLab’s oldest and most complex product areas, where you’ll use Ruby on Rails to improve a critical system serving GitLab.com, self-managed instances, and GitLab Dedicated. Source Code provides the interface layer, through Gitaly, to the Git repositories behind a large share of GitLab traffic, so you’ll help keep it reliable through performance tuning, caching, rate limiting, observability, and resiliency, collaborating with product, design, security, Gitaly, Code Review, and Source Code Experience teams. Supporting production systems and improving established experiences are central to the role, especially while you’re onboarding, and over time you’ll also help build experiences for developers working with agents.
You'll work remotely from the United Kingdom or Poland.
What you’ll do
Develop secure, well-tested, performant features and improvements using Ruby on Rails and GraphQL, among other technologies.
Work through complex requirements and legacy constraints to deliver clear solutions while protecting the reliability of this critical system.
Design and maintain backend services, APIs, data models, and business logic that support intuitive source code workflows.
Collaborate across functions and teams, both asynchronously and synchronously, and involve domain experts when their input will improve the outcome.
Use AI agents for well-scoped work when they can speed up delivery without sacrificing quality, and critically review their output.
Write maintainable code that follows GitLab's standards and contribute to constructive code reviews.
Help strengthen reliability by monitoring production health metrics, participating in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshooting incidents, contributing to root cause analysis, and improving observability and resiliency.
Share knowledge through code review, technical documentation, and everyday collaboration while learning from others.
Take part in on-call or operational support where your team’s ownership model requires it.
What you’ll bring
Professional experience building backend web applications, services, or application programming interfaces, with experience using Ruby and GraphQL.
An understanding of relational databases, structured query language, data modeling, caching, background processing, and backend performance practices.
Experience with full-stack development to build and maintain user-facing workflows and their underlying systems.
Experience writing backend unit and integration tests, with familiarity with the testing pyramid, Git, and collaborative code review processes.
Clear written and spoken English communication skills, including sharing useful status updates in a remote, asynchronous environment.
The ability to manage assigned priorities, work through ambiguity, take ownership of your work, and seek guidance when needed.
Experience using AI coding agents to speed up software development while critically reviewing their output.
Bonus: you’ve built agents or agent-based workflows that run in production, not just prototypes.
About the team
The functional team works across Europe and North America, supporting both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration. It includes four engineers, comprising both backend and frontend engineers. We work closely with other Source Code teams, Agentic Preview, Repository Services, and Hardening, as well as other teams in the company such as the Gitaly team, and the AI Governance team.

Solvd Inc. is a rapidly growing AI-native consulting and technology services firm delivering enterprise transformation across cloud, data, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. We work with industry-leading organizations to design, build, and operationalize technology solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.
Following the acquisition of Tooploox, a premier AI and product development company, Solvd now offers true end-to-end delivery—from strategic advisory and solution design to custom AI development and enterprise-scale implementation. Our capability centers combine deep technical expertise, proven delivery methodologies, and sector-specific knowledge to address complex business challenges quickly and effectively.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Elasticsearch, Scala) to join a team powering food search and logging for one of the world’s leading health and nutrition platforms. You’ll contribute directly to the systems that drive search — backend services, search infrastructure, and experimentation — with a focus on improving core metrics: conversion rates, time to log, query abandonment, and result relevance.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Contribute to, build, and maintain backend services that drive the food search experience, integrating with systems across the broader engineering organization.
- Perform search performance tuning end-to-end — data design, indexing, query evaluation, and iterative improvement within Elasticsearch.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of search and data technologies that improve result quality and user experience.
- Collaborate closely with senior search engineers, product management, and leadership on solution discovery, experiment planning, and delivery.
- Contribute to the development of tools, processes, and metrics for measuring and monitoring search quality.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Elasticsearch
- Demonstrated experience with performance tuning, query analysis, and relevance optimization in Elasticsearch at scale.
- Strong understanding of index design, mapping strategies, cluster management, and scoring/ranking mechanics.
- Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, and operational monitoring for Elasticsearch clusters.
- Ability to deploy new indexes or clusters as needed for load balancing or experimentation.
- Ability to translate product specifications into technical requirements and deploy ranking and relevance experiments with clearly defined success criteria and metrics.
Scala
- Strong experience writing, shipping, and maintaining Scala services in production.
- Comfortable working across a stack that also includes SQL and Python — Scala is the primary language for this engagement.
Agentic development
- Active user of AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable AI-powered coding environments — shipping production code with them, not just using autocomplete.
- Familiarity with agentic coding patterns and workflows — code generation, refactoring, debugging, and test authoring.
- Able to articulate how AI tooling fits into their development process and where human judgment remains critical.
Engineering fundamentals
- First-hand experience building, scaling, and supporting large-scale data infrastructure systems in production.
- Strong understanding of database design, data architecture, and performance tuning across multiple data stores — MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar.
- Experience with high-volume messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms.
- Strong peer code review practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leveraging AI workflows for meaningful development acceleration beyond autocomplete — code generation, refactoring, debugging, and test authoring at scale.
When you join Solvd, you'll…
- Shape real-world AI-driven projects across key industries, working with clients from startup innovation to enterprise transformation.
- Be part of a global team with equal opportunities for collaboration across continents and cultures.
- Thrive in an inclusive environment that prioritizes continuous learning, innovation, and ethical AI standards.
Ready to make an impact?
If you're excited to build things that matter, champion responsible AI, and grow with some of the industry’s sharpest minds. Apply today and let’s innovate together.

Nebius is building the infrastructure that powers the next generation of AI — and we're scaling fast. In line with our values, we're committed to an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, and we're looking for a skilled Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to help embed the standards and capability that keep our expanding operations safe, compliant and sustainable.
This is no ordinary role. We need a proactive, credible specialist who takes ownership of EHS delivery on the ground — someone who can translate strategy into practical action, act as a trusted voice of EHS with site and regional teams, and stay close enough to the detail to guide, challenge and support when it matters most.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape how EHS operates as Nebius scales. You'll have real autonomy to set priorities, build capability across your sites, and influence decisions at a site and regional level — backed by strong support from senior stakeholders and a growing global EHS function.
You'll be accountable for the quality, consistency and culture of EHS across your sites — working through others, upholding the standards your teams work to, and stepping in personally when situations demand calm, experienced judgement under pressure. Above all, you'll help make sound EHS practice a source of competitive advantage for Nebius, not a compliance exercise.
What you'll do
Own and implement the site EHS plan, turning policy and legislation into clear priorities and controls.
Bring the global EHS strategy to life in everyday work on site, making sure teams are well supported and equipped with the toolkit to advance site EHS performance.
Lead by example with site teams and contractors — setting expectations and building capability for safe outcomes.
Own and support the EHS relationship with site and regional stakeholders — advising on risk and holding them to account.
Support the site assurance programme — audits, inspections, and the quality of risk assessments and controls.
Support local teams in incidents and near-misses on your site — driving investigations, building a learning culture, and reporting with composure under pressure.
Apply and uphold the standard for construction, commissioning, operations, decommissioning and other high-risk activity, equipping frontline teams to manage risk on the ground.
Own the site EHS performance narrative — turning data into insight that drives decisions and accountable action plans.
Review site EHS data and performance metrics, acting on trends and insights to drive continuous improvement.
Support the environmental and sustainability agenda on your site, partnering with specialist teams to bring it to life day to day.
Represent Nebius locally with regulators, contractors and partners, protecting its credibility on EHS.
Champion Nebius's culture and values, embedding EHS as core to how your site operates.
What we're looking for
Credible, proactive, and people-focused. You'll bring:
NEBOSH Diploma / Certificate level, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field, plus 3+ years' Environmental, Health & Safety experience — or equivalent.
Strong working knowledge of country legislation, with a track record of translating it into practical, workable controls.
A genuine subject-matter expert on the ground — able to go deep on technical detail and bring that expertise into every stakeholder conversation.
Proven experience leading incident response and investigations, including in high-pressure situations, with the composure to make sound decisions under stress.
A track record of building trust and credibility with stakeholders at every level.
A genuine coaching and mentoring mindset, with experience developing capability in others.
Strong organisational and prioritisation judgement — able to balance risk, workload and pace.
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to advise, challenge constructively, and bring fresh ideas forward.
A continuous-improvement mindset and the appetite to grow within a scaling function.
Preferred
5+ years' experience, including international or multi-site regulatory environments.
Experience within data centres, critical infrastructure, construction, engineering, commissioning or other high-risk environments.
Relevant qualifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, NCRQ, GradIOSH, CMIOSH or equivalent.
Experience supporting budgets or resourcing across multiple sites.
Why Nebius?
Make an impact — help shape EHS practice as Nebius scales.
Build something lasting — grow your expertise within a scaling function.
Work through partnership — advise, influence and be trusted alongside the business.

Be backed — join a growing global EHS function with real investment behind it.
Grow with us — build a lasting career as Nebius continues to scale.

We are a dynamic, collaborative team passionate about AI and its potential to transform society. Our diverse workforce thrives in competitive environments and is committed to driving innovation. Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited.
The Role
Owns Mistral’s strategic relationship with EY across APAC. Manages the EY relationship and joint go-to-market end to end, delivering revenue and industry impact.
Orchestrates multi-country pursuits spanning ASEAN (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines), Australia, India, Japan and Korea, owning the seating model, deal economics and partner governance through MD sign-off. Owns partner-leadership access at the change-maker level: AI practice leads, industry MDs and CTOs at regional and global level, including EY Consulting leadership.
Architects and operationalises the APAC GSI Partner Playbook: the frameworks, co-sell motions, solution accelerators and delivery-readiness programmes needed to scale frontier AI regionally, including the sovereign AI narrative that differentiates Mistral in regulated markets.
Location: Based in Singapore, with travel to ASEAN and APAC countries.
What success looks like
First 12 months
- Executive relationships built across EY Consulting at AI practice lead, industry MD and CTO level, including EY’s Singapore hub and its practices across ASEAN and APAC countries.
- A joint EY–Mistral GTM plan live: shared ICPs, vertical use cases, field plays and demand generation, with named account coverage across ASEAN and APAC countries.
- One to two named, in-flight APAC deals of flagship scope and complexity, converted from or created through global agreements.
- Partner-led and partner-attached pipeline delivered against the team target across sovereign AI, AI Studio and enterprise deployments.
- Two to three multi-year GTM agreements or MOUs signed, covering revenue targets, co-sell motions, enablement and commercial frameworks.
Key outcomes
- Partner-influenced revenue from EY contributes a fifth or more of APAC annual bookings.
- Mistral embedded in partner platforms, marketplaces, sovereign-cloud offerings and regional AI Lab programmes.
- Certified EY delivery pods operational, with a stable base of partners delivering repeatable demand.
Key responsibilities
- Own the EY relationship and joint GTM across APAC: executive sponsorship, joint account planning, pursuit support and governance.
- Own APAC GSI partner strategy, with EY as the anchor integrator.
- Drive EY engagement across ASEAN and APAC countries from Singapore.
- Convert or create global agreements and MPAs into named APAC deals; orchestrate multi-country pursuits across ASEAN and APAC countries.
- Architect joint GTM: messaging, ICP alignment, vertical use-case strategy, field plays and demand generation.
- Guide EY in building profitable Mistral service lines and certified delivery pods.
- Lead deal orchestration: partner qualification, commercial alignment, seating model, deal economics and delivery planning.
- Own partner scorecards, QBRs, pipeline reviews and performance analytics; ensure MPA, reseller/OEM and AI Lab frameworks are fit for multi-country use.
Must have
- 8–12+ years driving partner-led revenue with GSIs, hyperscalers, telcos or OEMs across APAC.
- Has worked at EY, or has directly managed the EY relationship (alliance, partnership or account leadership), with first-hand knowledge of how EY Consulting operates, including its service lines, practice and industry structure, alliance model, decision-making, and how deals are sold, staffed and governed.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a strategic GSI relationship and its joint GTM, operating at AI practice lead, industry MD and CTO level and converting or creating global agreements into named APAC deals.
- Track record engaging C-suite and securing multi-year commercial frameworks.
- Experience structuring multi-country pursuits, seating models and partner governance requiring MD-level sign-off, including across ASEAN and APAC countries.
- Commercial acumen in AI/cloud: able to translate AI Studio, sovereign AI and GPUaaS into clear revenue models.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with model deployment, GPU infrastructure or AI Lab concepts.
- Existing relationships within EY AI/Cloud practices.
- Prior use of hyperscaler funding (ECIF, MACC, OCP), MDF or co-sell pipelines.
- Exposure to sovereign AI or public-sector transformation in regulated APAC markets, including ASEAN.
Ideal backgrounds
Current or former EY Consulting leaders (alliance directors, AI/data practice leads, industry or sector leads), and leaders who have directly managed the EY relationship from a vendor, hyperscaler or technology partner side (e.g. senior partner sales managers at AWS, Microsoft or Google Cloud; partner account managers at Nvidia, Dell or HPE); regional or global alliance directors at Deloitte; GTM and strategic partnership leads at fast-growing AI, data or infrastructure vendors.
Languages: English required. Mandarin, Japanese or Korean a bonus for multi-country engagement. Bahasa (Indonesia/Malaysia), Thai, Vietnamese or Filipino a plus for ASEAN engagement.
