Underwriting & Funding Manager
About the role
inKind is looking for an Underwriting & Funding Manager to evaluate restaurant funding opportunities and make disciplined, timely funding decisions. You’ll own the review process from initial diligence through final recommendation or approval, helping inKind fund strong restaurant partners while managing risk.
This role requires financial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to understand the business behind the numbers. You should be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, asking thoughtful questions, and explaining your conclusions clearly.
What you’ll do
Review new funding opportunities. Assess applications, financial statements, sales trends, bank activity, existing obligations, and other supporting materials for completeness and accuracy.
Underwrite restaurant businesses. Evaluate operating performance, cash flow, liquidity, ownership experience, and the restaurant’s ability to support the proposed funding structure.
Determine appropriate funding terms. Recommend funding amounts, structures, conditions, and risk mitigants based on your analysis and inKind’s underwriting guidelines.
Make funding decisions. Approve or decline requests within your delegated authority and present exceptions or larger transactions to the appropriate decision-makers.
Document your judgment. Prepare concise underwriting summaries that explain the opportunity, key risks, assumptions, and rationale for each decision.
Lead diligence. Work with restaurant owners and internal teams to resolve questions, verify information, and identify material discrepancies or potential fraud.
Coordinate funding readiness. Confirm that required approvals, documentation, and funding conditions are complete before funds are released.
Improve the process. Help refine underwriting standards, approval workflows, and reporting to make decisions more consistent and efficient.
Learn from performance. Partner with the team monitoring funded restaurants to compare actual results with underwriting assumptions and improve future decisions.
Minimum Experience
4+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, small business financing, fintech lending, credit analysis, investment analysis, or a related field.
Strong financial statement analysis and modeling skills, including the ability to evaluate cash flow, liquidity, leverage, repayment capacity, and unit-level economics.
Experience independently evaluating transactions, assessing financial and operational risks, and making or recommending funding decisions.
Experience building, implementing, or improving underwriting processes, with a focus on automation, operational efficiency, and scalable decision-making.
Ability to translate underwriting policies, financial thresholds, risk indicators, and approval requirements into structured business rules and automated workflows.
Strong analytical and technical aptitude, with the ability to work with financial datasets, identify patterns, validate information, and support data-driven underwriting decisions.
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and working with transaction-level data.
Familiarity with underwriting systems, financial data platforms, automated decisioning tools, or workflow automation technologies.
Ability to partner effectively with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to define requirements, test solutions, and implement improvements to underwriting systems and processes.
Sound commercial judgment and the ability to balance funding opportunities, speed of execution, and disciplined risk management.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial findings, underwriting decisions, and technical requirements to financial and nonfinancial stakeholders.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple funding reviews and process improvement initiatives without sacrificing quality.
Preferred Experience
Restaurant, hospitality, or multiunit business underwriting experience.
Familiarity with restaurant point-of-sale (POS) data, payment processing systems, seasonality, food and labor costs, and location-level profitability.
Experience with alternative financing structures, including revenue-based financing or merchant cash advances.
Hands-on experience implementing automated underwriting workflows, rules-based decision engines, risk-scoring models, or automated approval processes.
Experience integrating or analyzing financial data from banking platforms, POS systems, payment processors, or third-party data providers.
Working knowledge of SQL and experience with Snowflake, Sigma, Tableau, or similar data and business intelligence platforms.
Experience using AI, machine learning, or automation tools to improve financial analysis, document processing, risk assessment, or underwriting efficiency.
A track record of building or refining underwriting policies, approval frameworks, and risk management processes in a high-growth fintech or lending environment.
What success looks like

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Getting paid is still one of the most manual parts of running a business. Finance teams chase invoices over email, match payments to invoices by hand in spreadsheets, and close the books late because cash data is scattered across banks, payment processors, and ERPs.
Ramp's Accounts Receivable team is building the system that automates all of it, from the moment an invoice is sent to the moment cash is reconciled in the general ledger. We own the full receivables lifecycle: invoicing, collections, payments, cash application, and accounting sync.
We're looking for a senior backend engineer to own core pieces of that system. The work sits where hard engineering problems meet real money: matching messy payment data to the right invoices, keeping ledgers correct to the cent, and syncing reliably with the accounting systems our customers depend on. You'll own projects end to end, from design through production, and work closely with product and design to turn complex finance workflows into software that just works.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build the payment-matching systems that automatically apply incoming ACH, wire, card, and check payments to the right invoices, even when payment details are incomplete or inconsistent
- Design accurate data models where every dollar is traceable from invoice to payment to general ledger
- Build two-way integrations with ERPs like NetSuite and QuickBooks that stay consistent through retries, partial failures, and edits on either side
- Build collections workflows that help businesses get paid faster without hurting their customer relationships
- Own projects from problem definition and technical design through launch, monitoring, and iteration
- Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Product sense: you care about the customer problem, not just the ticket, and you push back when the spec is wrong
- Experience designing and operating production backend systems, including APIs, data models, and asynchronous workflows
- Strong system design judgment and the ability to balance speed, correctness, reliability, and simplicity
- A track record of independently owning complex projects and shipping high-quality software
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to technical decisions
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience with invoicing, billing, payments, accounting, or other financial workflows
- Experience building integrations that keep data consistent across systems
- Experience improving reliability and operational visibility in a growing product
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL-TIME RAMP EMPLOYEES (GLOBAL)
- Flexible PTO
- Centralized home-office equipment ordering
- Health and wellness stipend
- Budget for intra-office travel
- Weekly coffee stipend
UNITED STATES
- 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you, with partial coverage for dependents
- One Medical annual membership
- 401(k), including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp
- Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year)
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay
- Pet insurance
- In-office perks: lunch, snacks, drinks, and more
- Relocation expense coverage to NYC or SF (if needed)
CANADA
- Group medical, dental, and vision coverage through Sun Life
- Life, AD&D, and disability coverage
- Fertility drug coverage (up to $4,000 lifetime)
- Group Retirement Plan with employer match (RRSP + DPSP)
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay, with additional time available at reduced pay
- Employee Assistance Program and virtual care through Lumino Health
UNITED KINGDOM
- Private medical insurance through Freedom Elite
- Virtual GP and at-home care via eMed x Livi
- Workplace pension through Penfold, with salary sacrifice option
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay with additional time available at reduced pay

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Automate deployment and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, and Helm with performance reproducibility as a hard requirement.
CI/CD:
Build and maintain rock-solid CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD) including automated performance regression checks.

Work closely with Product and Marketing teams to proactively inform CS of upcoming campaigns, changes, or product launches that may drive ticket volume.
Identify operational pain points in the customer journey and work cross-functionally to resolve or escalate them.
Develop SOPs, quick guides, and training materials to help offshore agents respond more effectively to users.
Track key CS metrics such as resolution time, CSAT, and escalation volume to measure success and identify improvement areas.
If the business moves toward a local CS team in the future, help scope, plan, and build this function from the ground up.

About Huzzle Labs
Huzzle Labs partners with frontier AI labs to evaluate and improve frontier models through deep human expertise. Contributors directly assess advanced AI systems in their specialist fields, receive competitive compensation, and help define the standards used to measure model performance.
About the Role
Huzzle Labs is seeking experienced accountants to write realistic accounting tasks that test how well frontier AI systems handle accounting work. You will create prompts that are difficult enough for a frontier model to fail, then write a scoring rubric for each task so reviewers can assess the output consistently. A rubric is a list of objective, checkable criteria that a reviewer marks pass or fail. Your judgement helps define the standards used to measure model performance.
This is an expert judgement role focused on realistic task design, careful review of model output and precise, consistent documentation. Training is provided. Prior AI training or data-annotation experience is required.
Responsibilities
Write realistic accounting tasks: Create requests of the kind a client, controller or business owner would send, covering month-end close, bank and credit card reconciliations, AR/AP ageing, accruals and adjusting entries, sales tax, job costing and the clean-up of incomplete or inconsistent books.
Build from real material: Review a deal room containing hundreds of files, select the relevant documents and use them to develop prompts and rubrics for tasks a frontier model struggles to complete correctly.
Require usable deliverables: Each request should call for a working output, usually a spreadsheet, a journal entry schedule or a short memo.
Test against a frontier model: Run each request and review the output with the care you would apply when signing off accounting work. Where the model succeeds, increase the difficulty until a genuine gap appears.
Write scoring rubrics: Define objective criteria that another reviewer can apply without repeating your work, for example, “the reconciled ending balance equals $X” and “the $X deposit is recorded as a customer deposit liability, not revenue.”
Apply guidelines consistently: Follow the task and rubric guidelines, flag ambiguous cases and help refine the criteria.
Requirements
At least 5 years in accounting, bookkeeping or finance operations.
Prior AI training or data-annotation experience is required.
Hands-on knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations, AR/AP, accruals and adjusting entries, sales tax and job costing.
Excellent written English and precision with numbers.
Careful and detail-oriented: accurate figures and objective, checkable criteria.
Available 20 to 40 hours per week for an initial one-week trial, with potential extension.
Example Assignment
For a client deal room covering a small business with incomplete and inconsistent books, you would:
Review the files and select the relevant documents, such as bank statements, ledgers, invoices and ageing reports.
Write a prompt as the business owner or controller would, asking for a reconciliation and the adjusting entries needed to close the month.
Run the prompt against a frontier AI model and check the spreadsheet or journal entry schedule line by line.
If the model completes the task correctly, increase the difficulty, for example, by adding a customer deposit, a timing difference or a sales tax complication, until it fails.
Write the rubric, such as “the reconciled ending balance equals $X” and “the $X deposit is recorded as a customer deposit liability, not revenue,” so another reviewer can grade any answer without repeating the work.
Confidentiality
An NDA must be signed before the engagement begins.
Benefits
Compensation:
$60 - $90 USD / hour

Join the team as Twilio’s next Fraud Specialist, Supplier Operations & Governance (P4).
About the job
We are actively recruiting for this role to fill an existing vacancy. This position will be responsible for working constructively with our customers and partners to resolve billing issues and fraudulent misuse of services.
We are seeking a sharp, highly data-oriented, and tenacious Fraud Specialist to join our team. Unlike a traditional billing or collections role focused on routine outreach or simple invoice review, this position is a hybrid of financial investigation, root cause analysis, and strategic dispute negotiation. In this role, you will look for billing discrepancies, investigate Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT) or IRSF (International Revenue Share Fraud), dig deep into messaging and call data, project manage high-value customer and vendor disputes, and build data-backed cases to resolve discrepancies. You will build dashboards to communicate key metrics and drive action. If you love solving complex data puzzles, negotiating with external parties, and finding win-win outcomes, this is the role for you.
You will be part of a company that is the category leader in Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), an organization working with the largest customers and partners, and a team of operators and former consultants that have delivered exceptional impact. If you have an extreme owner / founder mindset and a desire to solve big challenges, you’ll find yourself at home.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Advise account managers, accounting, and management on best practices to handle billing disputes
Negotiate with customers and carriers with an understanding of resolution levers available as per contractual terms and industry norms
Identify, analyze, and handle fraudulent misuse (such as Artificially Inflated Traffic) and billing errors (such as rate differences) with both vendors and customers
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer and vendor disputes from intake of disputes to initiating disputes, tracking progress, and ensuring timely, documented resolution
Uncover and resolve discrepancies, overcharges, and unpaid balances with carriers and customers due to quantities, rates, currency, and other root causes
Dig into call and messaging data to identify why bills don’t match or find evidence of fraud
Build dashboards that communicate key metrics related to the lifecycle of disputes
Read contracts and interpret what should be the invoice versus what it is
Act as the primary point of contact to negotiate dispute resolutions, settlements, and payment terms in accordance with company practices
Partner closely with data analytics, engineering, and accounting to reconcile accounts
Qualifications
Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Experience in project management.
Experience wrangling data with Excel / Google Sheets, Looker or SQL.
Desired:
Understanding of the A2P SMS ecosystem, international traffic routing, international revenue share fraud (IRSF), artificially inflated traffic (AIT) and the ecosystem profit chains.
Understanding of industry standards with respect to AIT and fraud handling such as frameworks from i3forum, GSMA, MEF or ITW Global Leaders’ Forum.
Understanding of Call Detail Records (CDRs) and ability to build strong dispute case files.
Experience working with workflow platforms like Airtable or building dashboards.
