About the job
As a member of the AI model team, you will drive innovation in training and optimizing vision-language models with a focus on real-world deployment. Your work will span the full model development lifecycle - from data curation and training pipeline design to model evaluation and optimization - with the goal of building models that are both highly capable and practical to deploy at scale.
You will work across a wide spectrum of multimodal architectures integrating text and vision, applying state-of-the-art research to improve model quality, efficiency, and domain-specific performance. We expect you to bring a research-driven mindset combined with strong engineering discipline - someone who can identify the right technique for a given problem, implement it rigorously, and measure its impact clearly.
You will work closely with a small, high-caliber team where your contributions will have direct and meaningful impact. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what multimodal AI can achieve in production environments, this is your opportunity.
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end research and engineering on vision-language models, covering training, evaluation, and optimization across the full model development lifecycle.
Design and implement post-training pipelines including supervised fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and reinforcement learning from human feedback.
Develop and maintain high-quality multimodal datasets, including data curation, filtering, and balancing for domain-specific tasks.
Drive model efficiency and deployability, adapting models for resource-constrained environments using compression and optimization techniques.
Design and implement evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to measure model performance, robustness, and real-world task success.
Build and scale training workflows across distributed GPU infrastructure.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in training pipelines to achieve state-of-the-art model quality on target benchmarks.
Contribute to and leverage open-source ecosystems including models, datasets, and tooling to accelerate development.
Stay current with the latest research in multimodal learning and vision-language systems, translating relevant findings into practical improvements.
Publish research findings in top-tier AI conferences and journals where applicable.
Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field; MS/PhD preferred.
Strong experience with multimodal post-training workflows including supervised fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and reinforcement learning from feedback.
Hands-on experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning and distributed training frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to build and improve vision-language models with measurable results on standard benchmarks or real-world tasks.
Experience adapting models for resource-constrained environments.
Proven open-source contributions in multimodal AI on GitHub or HuggingFace.
Publications at top AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ECCV etc.)

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Most businesses have no idea if they're overpaying for their software. They renew on autopilot, negotiate without benchmarks, and discover vendor alternatives only after the contract is already signed.
Ramp is uniquely positioned to change that. We see billions of dollars of real-world spend and contract data across thousands of companies, and we're turning it into an intelligence layer that tells businesses exactly what they should be paying, which vendors to consider, and when to act.
As PM for Vendor Intelligence & Marketplace, you'll own the product that powers this: our price benchmarking engine, contract analysis (extracting structure and risk from vendor agreements), and the emerging B2B marketplace that connects Ramp's buyer base to the right vendors at the right price. You'll be one of the first PMs building a true buyer-side intelligence layer inside a financial platform, replacing renewal anxiety and negotiation guesswork with data-driven, AI-powered decisions.
Please note that this role requires in-person presence at our NYC or SF office at least 2 days/week.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own the strategy and roadmap for price benchmarks and contract intelligence, turning Ramp's aggregated spend and contract dataset into the most accurate price benchmarking product on the market.
- Build the B2B marketplace primitives that let Ramp's customers discover, compare, and engage with the right vendors, and give vendors a channel to reach Ramp's buyer base with transparent, competitive pricing.
- Design "decision moments": surfaces inside Ramp that deliver the right benchmark, contract context, or vendor alternative at exactly the moment a customer is about to sign, renew, or spend.
- Partner with data science to build the extraction, normalization, and modeling pipelines that power price benchmarks, going from raw contract PDFs and spend data to unit-normalized, SKU-level intelligence a customer can act on in a negotiation.
- Define the evaluation methodology, quality bar, and feedback loops for AI-powered contract analysis, ensuring the accuracy and explainability that enterprise customers require.
- Cover the full vendor lifecycle: discovery and intake through price negotiation, contract signing, and renewal, with the right intelligence surfaced at each step.
- Develop deep understanding of how procurement, finance, and legal teams evaluate, select, and renegotiate vendors, and translate that into sharp product bets with clear customer outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional alignment on dependencies and launch readiness: GTM enablement, customer communications, compliance review, and supportability.
WHAT YOU NEED
- BA/BS in a technical or analytical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, or related).
- 5+ years of product management experience, ideally with products where data quality and customer trust are the core value proposition.
- Sharp product judgment on data products and marketplaces: you understand flywheel dynamics, network effects, coverage-versus-accuracy tradeoffs, and the cold-start problem.
- AI fluency: hands-on experience building AI features, comfort with LLM-based extraction and retrieval, evaluation methodology, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Strong commercial instincts: you understand how businesses buy software, what levers drive negotiation outcomes, and why price transparency changes behavior.
- Track record building products where trust is earned over time: explainability, auditability, graceful degradation, and clear user controls.
- Comfort working in technical environments (Figma, SQL, Git) and prototyping quickly with modern AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor).
- Clear, direct communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders; ability to make a crisp case for a product bet without a deck full of slides.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Experience building price benchmarking, market intelligence, or contract analytics products, anywhere from procurement software to B2B SaaS to fintech.
- Marketplace experience: supply/demand matching, seller acquisition, buyer discovery, and the trust primitives that make two-sided systems work.
- Document understanding: OCR, LLM-based extraction, normalizing structured data from unstructured contracts.
- Background in procurement, vendor management, or enterprise SaaS buying and selling, either as a PM or as a practitioner.
- Familiarity with compliance-adjacent domains: vendor due diligence, security reviews, NDAs, audit trails.
- Experience at a high-growth startup taking 0→1 products to scale.
