About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
The IT Operations team keeps Anthropic running — we make sure every employee can do their best work without friction. We're seeking an IT Support Engineer who combines deep technical skills with a genuine service mindset and sound judgment.
Anthropic is growing fast, and our IT operations need to keep pace. That means onboarding at scale, automating repetitive processes (including with Claude), and continuously improving the employee experience. You'll handle support challenges across our primarily macOS environment while contributing to the operational improvements that help us scale. You'll work closely with IT Engineering and Security, with opportunities to grow into more technical infrastructure work over time.
Responsibilities
End-User Support
Triage and resolve issues across hardware, software, networking, and accounts — primarily through our ticketing system, with additional support via Slack and in-person
Diagnose and resolve issues across macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, Android, and our core SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Atlassian)
Troubleshoot device issues, including enrollment, configuration profiles, and policy enforcement
Support access management and employee lifecycle workflows (onboarding, offboarding, reorgs)
Handle escalations requiring cross-team coordination
Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside business hours
Provide hands-on support for user technology, AV systems, conference rooms, and printers
Communication & Documentation
Communicate clearly with users of all technical levels
Write and maintain internal documentation including runbooks, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles
Identify patterns in support requests, surface recurring issues to the team, and identify opportunities for automation or systemic solves
Operational Improvement
Help streamline onboarding and other high-volume operations as the company scales
Contribute to automation efforts
Maintain and improve device management, identity, and access systems
Assist with scripting (Bash, Python) to automate repetitive tasks
You may be a good fit if you
Have 7+ years of hands-on IT support experience, ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment
Are an excellent communicator who genuinely enjoys helping people solve problems
Have strong troubleshooting skills and are methodical, curious, and persistent
Demonstrated supporting macOS endpoints and comfortable supporting ChromeOS, iOS, and Android
Have significant experience with Google Workspace administration
Have experience with Slack administration — workspace management, permissions, and troubleshooting
Have substantial experience supporting and administering additional SaaS tools
Understand identity and access fundamentals — SSO, MFA, directory services
Are familiar with MDM fundamentals and endpoint management concepts
Have experience with basic scripting (Bash or Python) for automation
Take ownership of problems and follow through until they're resolved
Think beyond the immediate fix — you ask "why did this happen?" and "how do we prevent it?"
Are organized enough to manage competing priorities without things falling through the cracks
Propose solutions when you see a process that doesn't scale
Are looking to develop deeper technical skills and take on more complex systems administration challenges over time
Strong candidates may also
Be familiar with zero-trust security concepts and endpoint security tooling
Have experience with networking basics — DNS, DHCP, VPNs, networking fundamentals
Have contributed to IT projects beyond day-to-day support (migrations, tool rollouts, process redesigns)
Have experience using AI tools to improve personal or team productivity
Location
This role is based in Tokyo, Japan and there is a 4 day/week in office expectation.
What Makes This Role Unique
You'll be joining a high-impact IT team supporting some of the world's leading AI researchers and engineers. The pace is fast and you'll have real ownership over your work. This isn't a role where you follow rigid scripts — you'll be trusted to use your judgment, improve our processes, and grow with the team. Because we're scaling rapidly, you'll have meaningful opportunities to shape how IT operations work at Anthropic.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

The GTM Strategy & Operations, Frontier team coordinates how Anthropic's research reaches the market: how we run model launches commercially, how we partner with Capacity teams to allocate a finite compute supply across customers and surfaces, and how we translate what the field learns into reads that Research, Product, Finance, and GTM leadership act on.
One tangible example of the work this role will contribute to is new model and product introduction: the end-to-end commercial run of a model, product or capability release, from identifying market opportunities to preparing customer cohorts and the field through to the adoption readout that shapes where we go from there. We are hiring for someone who can run a high-stakes cross-functional program where the bar for execution is sky high, author the strategic analysis and readouts executive leadership needs, and create and optimize repeatable methodologies.
This role reports to the Global Head of GTM Strategy & Operations, Frontier, and sits at the interface between GTM, Applied AI, Product, Research, Security & Safeguards, Finance, and Compute.
Key responsibilities
Run launches
Serve as GTM DRI for product and model launches: own account selection for pre-launch, coordinate field readiness across scaled pre- and post-sales teams, and run the launch-week operating room with extreme ownership.
Synthesize customer adoption signal (usage patterns, migration behavior, qualitative feedback from the field) into actionable reads for executive leadership across the company
Design and run the field response loop: how AE, CS, Applied AI and customer response and feedback gets captured, triaged, and routed to the teams who can act on it
Evolve the NPI methodology
Design and iterate GTM's NPI methodology across both standard releases and managed-access programs, including operating cadence, roles and handoffs with field teams, and the bar for launch readiness
Carry the executive reporting cadence for launches: what leadership teams see, how often, and how we make adoption trends legible early as well as retrospectively in a continual sprint environment
Partner across the company
Act as GTM's primary interface to Product S&O and Research on launch planning, ensuring commercial readiness is sequenced with product / model readiness
Work with Sales Strategy & Operations partners, Applied AI, and Customer Success on field execution, ensuring the launch motion lands consistently across segments and regions
Partner with Capacity teams on rate limits, provisioning, and capacity planning for account cohorts, assessing capacity-efficiency opportunity and executing against it with customer value at the core
Collaborate on protect-play targeting, sequencing, and post-launch competitive response when external launches and ours overlap
Minimum qualifications
Experience in product operations, PMM operations, release management, management consulting, or GTM strategy & operations
Built and run high-stakes, operations-heavy programs with many cross-functional dependencies at a high-velocity product company, with a track record of turning effective heroics into a repeatable, scaled methodology
Ability to quickly weigh, select, and execute the balance between business, safety, and repeatability considerations
Written for and presented to senior executives; you can produce the readout leadership reads and hold the room with Product, Research, and Finance counterparts
Exceptional analytical skills, rooted in data but never without corresponding actionable insights. You can design the metrics and reporting that make a program legible, distinguish signal from noise in a messy week-one read, and work with analytics engineering teams to evolve data design to be fit for purpose
A bias toward extreme ownership - you see the gap, you fill it, and you hold the outcome regardless of where the org lines fall
Bachelor's degree required
Preferred qualifications
Strong analytical foundation: SQL and code-level data proficiency, sophisticated modeling in Sheets or Excel, and experience with BI tools (Looker, BigQuery, or similar)
Experience at an AI, developer-tools, or API-first company with consumption-based pricing (ideally as well as B2B SaaS)
Strong familiarity with, if not direct experience in, commercial roles (sales, rev ops, product marketing) or product management in addition to operations
Familiarity with safety, trust & safety, or security-review processes in a product context
Demonstrated success operating in ambiguity at a company where the product and the operating model are both changing fast
Deadline to apply:
None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary:

The ideal candidate brings deep full-stack engineering and production experience, strong automation instincts, cloud/container operations expertise, incident leadership, and curiosity for using AI-assisted workflows to improve operational quality, release confidence and delivery speed.
Responsibilities:
Lead application operations and production support for internal and public-facing services in AWS and container environments, with focus on availability, resiliency, scalability, performance and security.
Define and evolve production operations architecture, readiness standards and reusable patterns for services/features, including automation, monitoring, runbooks, rollback plans and operational acceptance criteria.
Architect and scale tools, scripts and automation frameworks across API/service telemetry, release validation and operational readiness to reduce toil and improve incident response.
Establish CI/CD operational gates, production validation practices and governance mechanisms that improve release confidence, scalability and engineering velocity.
Advance observability, event correlation and operational metrics using service health signals, automation health, release risk indicators, dashboards and alerts that reduce MTTD and MTTR.
Partner with SRE, data services, CI/CD, service engineering, platform hosting, product and business teams to shift reliability left and improve shared ownership of production quality.
Lead performance, capacity, infrastructure modernization and cost optimization for services using AWS, Kubernetes, EKS/UKS, autoscaling and related cloud patterns.
Use AI-assisted and agentic tools, such as Codex, Claude, Cursor or similar, to accelerate development, operational automation and production-signal analysis.
Provide rotational on-call support and improve incident workflows using Slack, JIRA, ServiceNow, BigPanda and related escalation systems; lead RCA and systemic fixes for recurring production issues.
Key Qualifications:
Staff-level hands-on engineer equally comfortable with software development, systems engineering, production operations and service architecture.
System Architect and full-stack engineer who connects customer experience, application behavior, APIs, data flows, infrastructure and operational controls into resilient designs.
Proven ability to define operational standards, quality gates, reusable frameworks and governance practices across teams.
Independent technical leader who influences cross-functional partners, mentors engineers and drives adoption of scalable practices.
Strong systems-thinking and troubleshooting depth across runtime, cloud, Kubernetes/EKS/UKS, network, observability, release and incident layers.
Required Skills:
Distributed service architecture and operations, Unix/Linux systems internals, networking, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing and API troubleshooting.
AWS service operations, including ALB, Route 53, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache and Java/API services.
Containers and orchestration, including Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/UKS and Fargate.
Automation and software development in Python, Go or Java; source control and configuration management using GitHub/Git, Ansible, Chef or similar.
Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD using Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Spinnaker or comparable tooling.
Observability, incident management and collaboration tooling such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana, BigPanda, Slack, JIRA and ServiceNow.
Strong communication skills with the ability to adjust messaging by audience, translate complex technical issues for cross-functional business partners, and articulate both technical detail and customer/business impact.
Data reporting, analytics or operational data platforms such as SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake or big data systems.
AI-assisted development or agentic engineering workflow experience using tools such as Codex, Claude, Cursor or similar.
Experience:
BS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical area.
10+ years operating and supporting services in production environments at scale.
5+ years AWS Cloud experience deploying, tuning and operating Java/API services.
Hands-on incident management experience, including on-call, incident coordination, stakeholder communications, RCA and corrective-action tracking.
