As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
Department overview:
At PlayStation, Data Science plays a critical role in shaping how we invest in, retain, and delight our global player base. The
CLV team
focuses on understanding player behaviour and driving more effective engagement across the player lifecycle — from acquisition and onboarding through to retention, monetisation, and long-term value.
As a
Data Scientist
, you will develop models and insights that help drive more personalised player experiences and inform commercial and product decisions at scale. You will work in cross-functional teams to translate player behaviour into actionable strategies that drive measurable improvements in player engagement and value.
This role is ideal for an individual who is comfortable owning problems end-to-end — from framing and modelling through to delivering impact — and partnering with stakeholders to support data-informed decision-making.
What you’ll be doing:
Own the development and delivery of machine learning models for use cases such as churn prediction, purchase propensity, store recommendations, customer lifetime value.
Translate business problems into modelling approaches, selecting appropriate methods and features to deliver measurable impact.
Work with large-scale behavioural and transactional data to uncover patterns and opportunities for player growth and engagement.
Collaborate within cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and commercial stakeholders, to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
Partner with stakeholders across commercial, finance, and lifecycle teams to support decision-making with data-driven insights.
Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Develop and expand your understanding of more advanced modelling approaches (e.g. deep learning and sequence-based methods) as part of solving increasingly complex problems.
What we are looking for:
You're curious, analytical, and a strong problem-solver, with a structured approach to tackling business problems. You bring strong foundations in modelling and data manipulation, and are motivated by applying these to impactful, commercial problems.
Experience building predictive models (e.g. churn, propensity, segmentation, or value modelling) in a commercial setting.
Ability to independently take a problem from definition through to solution and delivery, demonstrating initiative and ownership.
Proficiency in Python and SQL, and familiarity with common data science and ML libraries.
Solid understanding of machine learning techniques (e.g. regression, tree-based models, clustering) and when to apply them, including how to refine and tune them for real-world problems.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate insights and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Awareness of modern machine learning approaches (e.g. embeddings, sequence models, deep learning) and interest in applying them to real-world problems.
Experience working with large datasets to generate actionable insights.
A strong academic background, typically a Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative or technical field (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science).
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with production environments, MLOps, or data pipelines.
Experience working with large-scale data using PySpark or equivalent distributed data processing tools.
Experience in gaming, e-commerce, or subscription-based products.
Benefits:

25 days holiday per year

Strengthen the corporate security stack, including endpoint detection and response (EDR) and fleet management across Mac, Windows, and Linux, email security, and GitHub controls
Join the on-call rotation, work with the managed security operations center (SOC) on escalations, and automate evidence collection for System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and ISO audits

Deployed and operated agents, sensors, or telemetry collectors at fleet scale, such as osquery or eBPF-based tooling
Operated AWS infrastructure, including networking, identity and access management (IAM), logging, and container workloads, with infrastructure as code in Terraform
Built and run a data or logging pipeline, including SIEM operations and SQL for investigation
Bonus if you
Worked with managed SOC providers or security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms
Built or contributed to open source security or observability tooling
Know serverless platforms and API security

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our Platform Infrastructure team in San Diego. You’ll partner with a technical lead engineer and embedded in device identity and security—this is one area form the backbone of how we build, provision, deploy, and manage our robots at scale.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to:
- Device Identity & Security — The cryptographic chain of trust from secure boot through disk encryption and device attestation to cloud enrollment. Key management infrastructure, certificate lifecycles, and the tooling that ensures only trusted software runs on trusted hardware.
This role is designed for someone who is curious, technically sharp, and eager to learn, grow and build. Much of what you’ll work on—from secure boot pipelines to fleet-scale cloud infrastructure—isn’t taught in a classroom. We’re looking for the right attitude, aptitude and experience. We’ll invest in continuing your development into a world class platform engineer.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Our platform infrastructure spans from the factory floor to the cloud and everything running on the robot in between.
- Build and ship software — Write production-quality code that contributes to our platform infrastructure, from backend services and automation tooling to provisioning and test systems.
- Learn alongside experts — Pair directly with a senior engineer who will mentor you in your focus area while giving you real ownership of deliverables.
- Collaborate across a global team — Work daily with firmware, applications, cloud, manufacturing, systems, and operations team members across the local San Diego office and global offices in London, Boston, and Vancouver.
- Embrace agentic development workflows — Use modern AI-assisted coding tools and practices we expect everyone on the team to leverage these to move faster with higher quality.
- Own your growth — As the team scales and business needs evolve, your focus within the platform infrastructure workstream will grow with you.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong technical communication — You can explain your thought process clearly to a technical teammate, in writing and in person.
- Receptive to feedback — You have a demonstrated history of receiving and responding to feedback constructively.
- Leans into hard problems — You don’t shy away from unfamiliar territory; you dig in and figure it out.
- Humble — You are able to put your own ideas aside, listen, and genuinely consider others’ perspectives.
- Collaborative — You see knowledge as something to share, not withhold, in order to solve problems faster, together.
- Responsible — You strive to understand the “why” of your work and have the passion and ambition to push to get it over the line.
- Technically grounded — You have a solid foundation in CS fundamentals and can write clean, readable code even if you’re still building experience in our specific stack.
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one systems or backend language (Python, C/C++, TypeScript, or Rust).
- Proficiency in AI tools for research, iteration, feedback, development and test.
- Comfort working in Linux environments.
- Ability to work on-site at our San Diego office.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Comprehensive health coverage for US‑based employees, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with virtual care and employee assistance resources.
- Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of PTO (accrued), separate sick leave, and paid company holidays.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
- Equity included–we believe builders should share in what they build.
- Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in‑office.
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.
For this role in California, the expected base salary range is $155,000-$185,000 USD per year; your placement in that range depends on how your experience maps to our internal leveling.
Location: Remote - Canada
We’re introducing Rust where correctness, performance, and reliability truly matter.
Narvar
is Growing! Narvar is a multi-language platform, and we’re intentional about where we apply Rust. We’re looking for senior engineers to help us
bring Rust into the backbone of the system
— the parts that must be fast, safe, and correct under real-world scale.
This role is for engineers who want agency: people who enjoy identifying the right problems, choosing the right tools, and owning systems end-to-end. You won’t be handed a narrow ticket queue. You’ll help decide
what
gets built and
how
it should be built.
For this role, you should be located in Canada and able to work within EST/EDT or PDT/PST hours. We are fully remote.
Day-to-day
Design and build
high-correctness Rust services
that sit on critical platform paths
Introduce Rust into areas where safety, determinism, and performance are essential
Own systems from
architecture → implementation → rollout → operations
Make real decisions around concurrency, async boundaries, data integrity, and failure modes
Work across service boundaries in a
polyglot environment
(Rust alongside other stacks)
Collaborate with product, design, and frontend engineers to build systems that are technically sound
and
product-aware
Improve reliability, observability, and system behavior through design, not just patching
Mentor other engineers and raise the bar on system quality and ownership
What We’re Looking For
We care more about
judgment and ownership
than credentials.
You’re likely a strong fit if you:
Have built and operated
distributed systems
in production
Have
deep hands-on Rust experience
(not just experiments or side projects)
Understand where Rust shines — and where it doesn’t
Are comfortable reasoning about
concurrency, async systems, and correctness guarantees
Have experience designing APIs and data contracts that evolve safely over time
Have worked with
relational and/or NoSQL databases
at scale
Have deployed and operated services in
AWS or GCP
(We are a GCP Shop though!)
Take initiative naturally and are comfortable operating with ambiguity
Communicate clearly and make tradeoffs explicit
Bonus Points
These aren’t hard requirements, but strong indicators:
You’ve worked in
startup or high-ownership environments
You’ve owned systems in production, including on-call responsibility
You’re comfortable moving across the stack when needed (backend-first, full-stack aware)
You’ve influenced architecture by earning trust, not by mandate
You use modern tooling (including AI-assisted workflows) to
increase leverage
, not outsource thinking
(Note: we care about outcome and judgment, not how flashy your tools are.)
Why Rust at Narvar?
Because some parts of the system deserve stronger guarantees.
We use Rust where:
Bugs are expensive
Latency and throughput matter
Safety and correctness are non-negotiable
You’ll help define
where Rust belongs
, not just write Rust in isolation.
Why Narvar (From an Engineer’s Perspective)?
Real scale, real customers, real impacts
Startup-level ownership with platform-level impact
Teams that value
thinking, judgment, and responsibility
Low ego, high trust, and room to do your best work
Why Narvar?
We're on a mission to simplify the everyday lives of consumers. Post-purchase is a critical phase of the customer journey. That's why we created Narvar - a platform focused on driving customer loyalty through seamless post-purchase experiences that allow retailers to retain, engage, and delight customers. If you've ever bought something online, there's a good chance you've used our platform!
From the hottest new direct-to-consumer companies to retail’s most renowned brands, Narvar works with GameStop, Neiman Marcus, Sonos, Nike, and 1300+ + other brands. With hubs in San Francisco, Atlanta, London, and Bangalore, we've served over 125 million consumers worldwide across 10+ billion interactions, 38 countries, and 55 languages.
Pioneering the post-purchase movement means navigating into the unknown. Our team thrives on this sense of adventure while nurturing a mindset of innovation. We're a home for big hearts and we leave our egos at the door. We work hard but we always make time to celebrate professional wins, baby showers, birthday parties, and everything in between.
We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
