BUILD SOMETHING PEOPLE LOVE
Wealthsimple is Canada’s leading financial innovator. The company offers a full suite of simple, sophisticated financial products across managed investing, do-it-yourself trading, cryptocurrency, tax filing, spending and saving. Wealthsimple currently serves more than 4 million Canadians and holds over $155 billion in assets under administration. The company was founded in 2014 by a team of financial experts and technology entrepreneurs, and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
We're proud of what we've built — and we're just getting started. Read our Culture Manual https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/culture and learn more about how we work https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/careers.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Partner with product designers and the creative team to bring our product to life at our bi-annual Wealthsimple Presents live events, building and refining prototypes that bring product moments to life on stage, and translating product UI into more stylized storytelling assets where the moment calls for it
- Own design for our Product Marketing surfaces including: What's New (in-app), The Report, and Social Wrapped (spotlighting top shipped products/features)
- Create launch and feature visuals for major releases and manage our app store presence.
- Produce animations, static assets, and video (including talking-head-over-product style content) that explain features and educate clients
- Serve as the brand and marketing team’s go-to resource for everything product design related.
- Build and maintain a library of UI assets and product demos that marketing and influencer partners can pull from
- Partner closely with the team who owns the marketing website to product UI elements for product detail pages, making sure the product we’re selling is elevated and showcased at its best
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 6+ years of experience in a design role that spans product and marketing
- Portfolio that includes examples of motion design, marketing design, brand design, or product design with strong production chops
- Is strong at productionizing and can take existing product UI, brand direction, or campaign concepts and turning them into polished, launch-ready assets quickly, rather than originating core product or brand design from scratch
- Build and maintain AI-powered workflows to create scalable, repeatable asset production processes.
- Has hands-on motion and video skills as a core, daily-use part of their craft. Comfortable in After Effects and Premiere (or equivalent), producing everything from lightweight UI animations to more produced explainer/talking-head content
- Is fluent in product design tools (Figma)
- Can move fluidly between product, marketing, and creative, understanding the priorities, constraints, and voice of each without needing much translation
- Has a track record of shipping high-quality, on-brand work fast and independently, managing multiple concurrent requests from different stakeholders (product marketing, growth, brand, dotcom)
- Has sharp taste and an eye for polish, but treats that taste as being in service of clarity and reusability, not personal authorship
- Is a clear, proactive communicator who is comfortable managing intake from multiple teams and setting expectations on scope and timelines
Nice to have:
- Experience building or maintaining a shared asset/component library for cross-team reuse
- Experience working with financial services or other regulated-industry marketing content
- Familiarity with social-first video formats and platforms
If you're excited about this role, along with your resume, send us a portfolio or reel that shows:
- Examples of product UI you've translated into marketing/education content
- At least one motion or video piece you led end-to-end
- How you've worked across product, marketing, and creative stakeholders to ship something quickly

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Finance team is where numbers become decisions. We partner closely with business leaders across the company to make sure Wealthsimple is allocating resources wisely, hitting its targets, and building toward long-term sustainability. Within Finance, the Tax team is responsible for managing Wealthsimple's tax profiles across a growing number of legal entities and products — balancing tax law compliance while enabling business strategy. We're a small, high-trust team embedded in the business, and we hold ourselves to a high bar for both rigour and clarity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Manager, Transfer Pricing & International Tax to join our growing Tax team and take ownership of the company’s transfer pricing framework.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys combining technical tax expertise with practical business partnership. You will lead transfer pricing policy, documentation, compliance audit and advisory work across the group, while partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, FP&A and business teams.
The role is primarily focused on transfer pricing, with an opportunity to support broader international tax matters if/when the company expands into new markets in future.
You will have the opportunity to help build a scalable transfer pricing function in a fast-growing fintech environment, including establishing processes, controls and documentation that support continued growth and future IPO readiness.
IN THIS ROLE YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Own, update and maintain the group’s transfer pricing framework, policies and governance processes, including the contemporaneous documentation. Ensure they remain aligned with the group’s actual functions, assets and risks.
- Lead the preparation and review of Canadian and international transfer pricing documentation, including local files, master files and supporting analyses, as applicable.
- Develop scalable transfer pricing processes, controls and governance appropriate for a growing organization.
- Identify opportunities to automate transfer pricing calculations, data collection and reporting.
- Lead transfer pricing analysis for intercompany services, technology and IP arrangements, financing, guarantees, cost allocations and other related-party transactions.
- Assess appropriate transfer pricing methodologies and oversee benchmarking and economic analyses.
- Manage transfer pricing calculations, data requirements and processes
- Monitor intercompany transactions and identify gaps between transfer pricing policies, agreements and actual activity.
- Review and/or design intercompany agreements and supporting documentation.
- Monitor changes in the business and proactively identify transfer pricing implications of new products, entities, jurisdictions and changes to operating models.
- For any special projects, manage external advisors and ensure deliverables are technically sound and commercially practical.
- Support transfer pricing audits, tax authority inquiries and controversy matters.
- Build relationships across the organization and proactively identify tax considerations before business decisions are finalized.
- Support the Tax team with international tax matters as the company expands its footprint.
- Monitor developments in international tax rules, including bilateral tax treaties and OECD initiatives, and assess potential impacts on the business.
SKILLS YOU’LL BRING:
- 5–8+ years of relevant experience in transfer pricing, international tax or tax advisory.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian transfer pricing rules and OECD transfer pricing principles.
- Experience with Canadian transfer pricing documentation, T106 and T1134 reporting.
- Experience with intercompany transactions and multinational or cross-border operating models.
- Strong understanding of transfer pricing methodologies and economic benchmarking.
- Experience managing transfer pricing projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex transactions and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tax matters to non-tax stakeholders, and translate complex transfer pricing concepts into clear, practical recommendations.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA, CA, LL.M. or another relevant professional designation is an asset.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in fintech, financial services, technology or another rapidly growing industry.
- U.S. tax or other international transfer pricing experience.
- Experience with intercompany financing and guarantee arrangements.
- Experience with technology, intellectual property or centralized service arrangements.
- Experience with transfer pricing audits or tax controversy.
- Experience with tax technology, automation or data analytics.
WHY JOIN US?
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth fintech at an exciting stage of its evolution and help build the transfer pricing function rather than simply maintain an established model.
You’ll work on cross-border transactions, innovative financial products and evolving business models while partnering with stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Treasury and the broader organization.
The role offers significant opportunity to grow with the company, with the potential to take on broader international tax responsibilities as the business expands internationally.
If you’re a transfer pricing professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable processes and partnering with the business, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to build ElevenLabs' public sector business across Canada. The Public Sector Partnerships Lead will identify and build relationships with government institutions across Canada, bridging the gap between government and our GTM team to drive adoption of ElevenLabs' products and grow government into a strong, durable revenue stream for the company. The role also involves building strategic partnerships with policymakers, industry associations, and coalitions, as well as monitoring regulatory developments and supporting policy campaigns and impact initiatives.
In this role, you will:
Drive government adoption and revenue (primary)
- Identify government partnership opportunities across Canada — from healthcare and education to transport, crown corporations, and other public sector entities — and bridge the gap between government institutions and the GTM team to drive adoption and deployment of ElevenLabs' products.
- Build and maintain a wide network of relationships across Canadian government institutions — spanning federal departments, agencies, crown corporations, and provincial governments — not limited to regulatory or policy counterparts.
- Promote government adoption of ElevenLabs products and services in partnership with the GTM team.
Build strategic partnerships (secondary)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and civil society groups.
- Represent ElevenLabs at conferences and industry events, advancing the company's public policy goals.
Monitor and advise on policy (tertiary)
- Lead ElevenLabs engagement with government bodies and officials across Canada, with a focus on AI governance, safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, competition, and/or digital rights.
- Monitor, analyze, and advise on emerging regulations impacting the company.
- Support the development of internal policies by our Legal, Safety, Security, and other teams.
- Provide strategic counsel to company leadership on regional policy trends and their business implications.
- Define and implement policy campaigns and impact initiatives that advance company objectives.
Who you are:
- You're genuinely interested in the future of AI and emerging technologies, bringing curiosity and enthusiasm to your role.
- You stay up-to-date on AI regulation and industry trends, and are eager to apply this expertise to cutting-edge products.
- You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, working cross-functionally with teams across the organization to support and scale a growing business.
- You're comfortable working independently and handling ambiguity, excelling in situations where you must make informed decisions quickly.
- You bring a proactive, solution-oriented approach to each project, focused on moving the business forward.
What you bring:
Primary requirements
- 10+ years' experience in public and private sector (in-house, firm) roles, with a track record of building relationships with government that led to commercial or technology-adoption outcomes — not solely policy or regulatory roles.
- A wide, current network of contacts across Canadian government institutions — spanning federal departments, agencies, crown corporations, and provincial governments, including in healthcare, education, and transport. Coverage across both English- and French-speaking Canada is strongly preferred.
- Experience identifying and opening doors for technology partnerships with government institutions is strongly preferred.
- Contacts or experience across other North American or Five Eyes markets is a plus.
Also required
- Strong knowledge of the regional AI policy landscape, including general AI governance, safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, competition, and digital rights.
- Demonstrated success in designing, advocating for, and influencing policy outcomes, as well as coalition building.
- Public policy experience across Canada.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including when briefing government officials and other policymakers.
- Fluency in English and French.

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

- Build Ramp’s Canadian channel strategy and operating rhythm from the ground up.
- Research, identify, source, qualify and sign net-new Canadian partners.
- Create joint go-to-market and activation plans to grow the Canadian partner ecosystem.
- Drive revenue for Ramp through generating referrals
- Develop trusted relationships with decision-makers and operators inside partner orgs
- Educate partners on Ramp’s Canadian capabilities, value prop and updates.
- Own partner onboarding, activation, pipeline generation, and regular business reviews.
- Work closely with the Canadian Sales team to advance partner-referred opportunities.
- Partner with Product to surface recurring partner needs and inform the Canadian roadmap.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in partner sales, business development, channel partnerships, or a closely related role
- High agency, urgency, and resilience
- Proven track record of sourcing and managing partnerships
- Self-starter mindset: you are comfortable getting in the weeds
- Strong discovery and consultative-selling skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong operating discipline and comfort using data to improve performance.
- Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Strong cross-functional judgment and a history of finding success across cross-functional work

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is scaling compute internationally — growing our footprint in new countries. We're hiring a Country Lead to be the single, accountable owner of our compute strategy in Canada: the person who leads a team of cross-functional experts driving site selection, leasing, energy, financing, government relations and policy, community engagement, construction, and operations. This person will be ultimately responsible for bringing gigawatts of compute online in Canada.
You won't build this alone. The specialist functions — leasing, energy, policy, construction, finance — are hired and managed centrally by functional leads based in San Francisco. Your job is to provide cross-functional leadership over that team in-country: coordinating and driving accountability across workstreams, while representing Anthropic externally with government and industry counterparts in Canada.
This is a high-ambiguity, high-trust role for someone who can bring structure to a fast-growing, cross-functional effort without needing formal authority to do it.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end strategy and coordination for Anthropic's compute build-out in Canada, from initial site selection through construction and operations. While each component will be run by subject matter experts, this role will act as the overall leader and coordinator of that team.
Serve as the primary point of accountability for cross-functional workstreams; leasing, financing, energy, government relations/policy, community engagement, construction, and operations.
Provide working leadership to the in-country cross-functional team, driving alignment and unblocking issues.
Represent Anthropic with government officials, utilities, energy providers, and other external stakeholders in Canada.
Build and maintain relationships within the Canadian government and the energy industry to support site, power, and policy outcomes.
Track progress and surface risks across parallel workstreams as the country's compute footprint scales from initial sites to multiple gigawatts.
Translate between Anthropic's global compute priorities and the specific regulatory, political, and market conditions in Canada.
Requirements
Canadian national with established links into government and the energy industry strongly preferred.
Structured thinker with a track record of learning new domains quickly and going deep fast.
Excellent communicator, comfortable representing Anthropic to senior government, utility, and industry stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams without direct line authority.
Hyper-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to own multiple concurrent workstreams at once.
Comfortable with ambiguity; a problem solver who drives structure into undefined situations.
Background in energy, infrastructure, or a related sector.
Nice to have
Prior experience with large-scale infrastructure or datacenter development.
Existing relationships with Canadian federal or provincial government bodies relevant to energy, land use, or industrial development.
Experience managing or overseeing capital-intensive projects.
Familiarity with the compute, cloud, or datacenter industry.
Logistics
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study:
A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience:
Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About the team
We build the products and infrastructure that millions of Canadians trust with their financial lives. Data & Engineering at Wealthsimple spans everything from the client-facing apps to the systems running underneath them — and we hold ourselves to a high bar on both. We move fast, but we build thoughtfully: quality, security, and scalability aren’t trade-offs here, they’re the standard.
The Production Engineering team sits within Platform Experience, on the boundary between Platform and Product. Our mandate is to raise reliability across Wealthsimple’s most critical flows — reducing incidents, helping service teams ship safely, and turning individual fixes into platform-wide improvements. We measure ourselves against two targets: 99.9% uptime on critical flows, and fewer than 1% of weekly active users experiencing errors in the app. If you want to work on hard problems with people who care deeply about craft, you’ll fit right in.
About the role
This is a new role — one that doesn’t yet exist at Wealthsimple — and it’s a meaningful one. As a Staff Software Developer on Production Engineering, you’ll bring senior technical leadership to the work of making Wealthsimple more reliable at scale. You’ll work across platform and product teams, identify the highest-leverage reliability problems, and build solutions that don’t just fix the immediate issue but raise the floor for everyone. This isn’t a role where you sit in one corner of the codebase. It’s a role where you shape how engineering gets done across the company.
What you’ll do
- Improve the platform to prevent incidents — designing and driving adoption of guardrails, sensible defaults, and engineering standards that reduce the likelihood of failures across services
- Build tooling that reduces time to mitigation when incidents occur, including contributing to our in-house product on AI-assisted incident response
- Own the investigation and follow-through on load test findings — translating results into concrete reliability improvements across critical flows
- Work across platform and product engineering teams as a technical influencer — participating in architecture and readiness reviews, coaching service owners, and driving adoption of scalable reliability practices
- Identify recurring failure patterns and design platform-level fixes that prevent them from showing up again in a different service
- Contribute to the team’s reliability syncs with product engineering, helping align on incident themes, critical-flow risks, and the next highest-leverage initiatives
Skills you bring
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in platform, infrastructure, or SRE work
- Demonstrated track record of improving reliability at scale — reducing incidents, building guardrails, or driving operational standards across multiple teams
- Strong proficiency in backend systems and distributed architecture; you can diagnose complex failure modes across a service mesh
- Experience with load testing and capacity planning, and the ability to translate findings into concrete engineering improvements
- Proven ability to work across engineering teams as a technical influencer — driving adoption of standards and practices without direct authority
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, Argo and modern deployment tooling
- Strong written and verbal communication — comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to both engineering teams and senior leadership
Who you are
- You think in systems — you’re not looking for the fix, you’re looking for what caused the problem and how to make sure it doesn’t happen elsewhere
- You’re comfortable working without direct authority; you build credibility through the quality of your thinking and the clarity of your recommendations
- You hold a high bar for operational excellence without making it someone else’s problem to catch up to — you bring people along
- You’re energised by ambiguity, not slowed down by it; you know how to prioritise when everything feels urgent
- You’re curious about where AI-assisted tooling is headed in reliability engineering, and you want to help shape how we use it — not just observe it from a distance

About the People Systems & Operations Team:
The People Systems and Operations team builds and operates the systems, workflows, and automations the business runs on. We manage every stage of the employee lifecycle and own the design and optimization of the processes behind it. We're accountable for the reliability, scale, and integrity of our People systems.
What you bring to the system:
- Configure and maintain Payroll: pay components, earnings and deductions, pay groups, period schedules, and payroll-related business processes
- Configure and maintain Absence: time-off plans, accrual rules, eligibility criteria, and leave types
- Configure and maintain Time Tracking: time entry templates, validations, work calendars, and overtime calculations
- Configure and maintain Core HCM foundations: supervisory organizations, staffing models, job profiles and job/compensation structures, custom organizations, and worker data integrity
- Support annual and recurring People cycles in Workday, including compensation reviews, open enrollment configuration, and org restructures (mass supervisory org changes and job catalog updates)
- Design, build, and maintain business process definitions in both domains, including condition rules, calculated fields, custom validations, routing and approval logic, and notifications
- Partner with the Payroll team to troubleshoot configuration-driven payroll issues, including gross-to-net discrepancies, retro calculations, and off-cycle errors — the Payroll team owns processing; you own the configuration behind it
- Bring a strong command of the Workday security model: role-based, user-based, and intersection security groups, domain security policies, business process security policies, and integration system users (ISUs), with sound judgment about when to leverage each as you configure and troubleshoot across domains
- Support security and data audits in partnership with the broader team, using Workday delivered and custom audit reports to analyze access patterns, remediate exceptions, and uphold segregation of duties
- Perform impact analysis before changes ship, including how HCM and security changes ripple into payroll, absence, and time data
What you bring to the business:
- Translate business requirements from our internal partners into scalable system design, and document configuration decisions as you go
- Build trusted relationships with partner teams, acting as a translator between technical configuration and business needs
- Support change management for system updates and new functionality: communicate what's changing and why, prepare documentation and enablement materials, and make sure changes land well with the people who use them
- Build and maintain advanced, matrix, and composite reports and dashboards; support mass data changes via EIB
- Configure alerts, scheduled reports, and report security so the right data reaches the right people automatically
- Triage and resolve day-to-day system issues, getting to root cause rather than patching symptoms
- Actively look for where AI and automation can strengthen how People Systems works, from testing, documentation, and requirements drafting to ticket triage and report generation, using Anthropic's own tools as part of your daily workflow
- Drive process automation and optimization opportunities with the broader People team and partner functions
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience as a Workday Business Systems Analyst, with demonstrated expertise in system configuration, testing, and implementation
- Workday Pro accreditations or Workday partner certifications in HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking
- Exposure to Workday Prism Analytics, Extend, or advanced reporting beyond standard report writer
- Experience applying AI tools to HRIS or People operations work, or strong interest in building that muscle
- Have deep hands-on working knowledge of Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking (PATT) configuration and design, business process configuration, and Security
- Have hands-on working knowledge of Workday Core HCM
- Have worked in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and know how to flex between roles
- Possess strong technical skills including understanding of Workday architecture, security models, and integration methodologies
- Have experience with full lifecycle Workday implementations and/or significant module expansions
- Are intellectually curious, you ask "why" before "how," explore root causes rather than symptoms, and stay current on Workday and adjacent HR tech because you want to, not because you have to
- Approach problems with creativity, comfortable looking past the standard or obvious solution to find an answer that actually fits the business
- Treat HR data security and privacy as a non-negotiable foundation in everything you build and maintain
- Excel at building relationships and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
- Are detail-oriented with strong documentation skills and a commitment to process excellence
- Have a track record of managing multiple competing priorities, with a bias toward flexibility and impact
- Have a collaborative mindset and willingness to pick up slack even if it goes outside your job description

ABOUT THE OBSERVABILITY PLATFORM TEAM
The Observability Platform team exists to make production legible to every engineer and AI agent at Wealthsimple, on their first day and every day after. Every request, job, and user action produces a signal, and our job is to turn that signal into a fast, high-cardinality data asset that anyone can question. A business stakeholder investigating a drop in conversions, a service owner tracing a slow endpoint, an engineer validating a release, and an AI agent confirming its own change should all reach for the same data and get an answer in seconds.
We treat the platform as a product, and the engineers, service owners, and business stakeholders who depend on it as our partners. Our mission is to build the wide-event data model, the query foundation, and the golden paths that connect people to production data. We instrument on open standards such as OpenTelemetry so switching costs are a configuration change rather than a rewrite, and we optimize for the questions people did not anticipate rather than for pre-built dashboards.
As the founding Software Development Manager for this team, you will hire and lead the engineers who build this foundation, and set the technical vision that shapes how Wealthsimple understands its systems for years to come.
IN THIS ROLE YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Build the wide-event data model at the heart of the platform. Lead an events-first foundation on open standards such as OpenTelemetry, including the schema, SDKs, libraries, and instrumentation defaults that make rich, consistent, high-cardinality telemetry the path of least resistance for every team.
- Build the query foundation that connects people to production data, and make it legible to AI agents. Design the columnar or streaming backends, the tagging and context-propagation standards, and the access patterns, including protocols such as MCP, that let a business stakeholder, a service owner, an engineer, or an AI agent ask an unanticipated question and get a fast answer.
- Connect production data to business impact. Tie telemetry to client experience and business outcomes through SLOs and user flows, so teams see a problem in the numbers that matter before clients feel it. This is detection framed as a data question, not a wall of machine-state alerts.
- Define what observability means at Wealthsimple, set a multi-year roadmap, and align engineering and leadership behind it.
- Own the tool and vendor strategy across the observability stack, including how we get the most from Datadog while reducing lock-in and managing cost.
- Prove value on pilots. Start with one or two teams to validate the approach before scaling it across the organization.
- Hire and lead the team, and own career development, performance management, coaching, and a culture of technical excellence.
- Stay hands-on, and move fast with AI coding tools such as Claude Code fluently to prototype, unblock the team, and raise its bar for building with AI.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 7+ years in software engineering, with a software development background. You build platforms as software, with the testing, design, and engineering rigor that implies.
- Direct, hands-on experience treating telemetry as a data problem. You have designed wide structured events, managed high cardinality, and worked with columnar or streaming backends, sampling, tagging, and context propagation. This is the core of the role.
- Direct experience building an observability, telemetry, or production-data platform before, so you are not learning the problem space on the job. You do not need to have built a commercial product such as Datadog or Honeycomb, but you have built the equivalent inside an engineering organization.
- A track record of building SDKs and shared platforms in a platform, data, or foundations team. You have shipped the libraries, paved roads, and defaults that other engineers build on, and you treat those engineers as partners.
- Fluency with OpenTelemetry or an equivalent, and with SLI and SLO design that ties signals to client experience and business outcomes.
- 3+ years of engineering management experience, developing engineers and delivering complex initiatives through both growth and change.
- The ability to set a vision, sequence the work, and move engineering and leadership toward it.
- Strong people leadership and cross-boundary influence. You grow careers, give clear feedback, build inclusive teams, and build trust with peer managers, senior leadership, service owners, and business stakeholders.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with columnar stores such as ClickHouse, streaming systems such as Kafka, or query engines built for high-cardinality analytics.
- Experience building observability for LLM and agent-based workloads.
- Familiarity with self-serve data access, semantic layers, or data cataloging that helps non-experts find and query the right signal.
- Experience in a regulated or fintech environment.

Communicate technical strategy clearly to non-engineering stakeholders and represent the team in cross-team planning.
We invest heavily in developer productivity. You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction. We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always with strong code review and quality standards. You'll also have access to the latest frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
What makes you a great fit:
You are a motivated self starter with a bias towards action. You are customer focused. We build everything with our users in mind. You have a passion for creating intuitive products that fit customers’ needs
Proven delivery of large distributed systems.
Experience shipping and operating complex systems that span multiple teams, with clear evidence of technical leadership and impact.
Strong systems-design instincts.
Deep understanding of tradeoffs around latency, consistency, availability, scaling and cost.
Hands-on cloud and platform experience.
Solid experience with cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers/Kubernetes, IaC) and the operational practices that keep them healthy.
Reliability and performance ownership.
Comfortable defining SLOs/SLIs, doing capacity planning, tuning performance, and driving reliability work end-to-end.
Excellent coding and design skills.
You write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and can lead technical designs — we use Go, but Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well.
Comfort with AI-assisted development.
We embrace AI and agentic development so we expect you to be curious and comfortable using AI-powered developer tools and ideally have practical experience folding them into a team’s workflow.
Experience with messaging and telemetry.
Familiarity with streaming/messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) and observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana or equivalents).
Influence without authority.
Ability to align cross-functional stakeholders, set priorities and drive outcomes in a remote-first environment.
Strong communicator.
Clear written and verbal communication that works across engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
