ABOUT BASETEN
Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F https://www.baseten.co/blog/announcing-our-series-f/, led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products.
THE ROLE
The Model Performance organization at Baseten is looking to hire our first Technical Program Manager. This is a zero-to-one role in a team that is responsible for building the core algorithms and methods that power Baseten’s high performance inference stack. You won't inherit an existing program framework, you'll build one from the ground up: the planning structure, execution processes, metrics and the cross-functional alignment that a fast-growing organization needs. Your contributions will directly impact how fast our performance R&D gets productized. If you can drive turning a set of ambitious but loosely defined initiatives into a predictable, well-governed program, this role is for you.
EXAMPLE INITIATIVES
Take a look at these blog posts written by members of our Model Performance team:
- How to build a day-0 API for Kimi K3 https://www.baseten.co/blog/how-to-build-a-day-zero-api-for-kimi-k3/
- How we built the new fastest API for GLM-5.2 https://www.baseten.co/blog/how-we-built-the-new-fastest-api-for-glm-52/
- Inference engineering for DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813 https://www.baseten.co/blog/inference-engineering-for-deepseek-v4-pro-0813/
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own execution across Model Performance's active project portfolio, freeing the team's technical leads to focus on technical direction rather than tracking.
- Design and stand up the planning structures, operating cadences, and status reporting mechanisms that best fits the team’s DNA.
- Coordinate model release and optimization programs end to end, including day-zero launches, sequencing the work across performance engineering, infra, and release stakeholders.
- Drive cross-team alignment as scope expands from Model Performance Core into Model APIs and the inference production stack (BIS).
- Surface risks and dependencies early, and keep leadership informed with clear, honest status.
- Partner with engineering leads to design team structures and ownership boundaries as the org scales.
REQUIREMENTS
- Deep technical program management experience - you're already running programs of this scope at an organization of similar or greater complexity.
- Experience program-managing model performance or inference optimization work - you understand how engines like vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, SGLang, or NVIDIA Dynamo fit into a production serving stack and can engage credibly with the engineers building on them.
- Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and zero-to-one program building, not just executing an existing framework.
- Proven ability to influence without authority across engineers, managers, and leadership who don't report to you.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to make deeply technical programs legible to any audience.
- High agency decision making that demonstrates ownership, accountability and a strong desire to get things done.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience coordinating model release programs, including day-zero launches (ideally for large-scale models).
- Prior hands-on software engineering background.
- Deep learning performance optimization background, in training or inference, with inference preferred.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.
Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI! If you are a motivated individual with a passion for machine learning and a desire to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.
At Baseten, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable law (by example, the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, where applicable).

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. ABOUT THE ROLE
The AI Acceleration team’s mission is to make Perplexity the best place to build and ship software with AI agents. We build the infrastructure that engineers and agents rely on, and develop new ways for agents to write, test, review, and ship code. Our work helps teams move from an idea to production faster, without compromising quality or reliability.
We own the end-to-end development experience at Perplexity, from the environment where code is written to the systems that ship it to production. That includes local and cloud coding environments, build and test infrastructure, code review, and release management. We’re also building autonomous software development systems, where agents take on increasingly complex engineering work with explicit evaluation, verification, and safety controls. We own both the infrastructure these systems depend on and the workflows that make them useful.
As an AI Acceleration Engineer, you’ll turn emerging agent capabilities into dependable systems used across Perplexity. You’ll work directly with engineers to understand where development slows down, experiment with new approaches, and take promising ideas through to production. This role combines systems engineering, developer experience, and hands-on agent development, with a direct measure of success: helping teams spend less time on delivery overhead and more time building products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, prioritize, and deliver the highest-impact opportunities to accelerate how Perplexity builds and ships software with AI.
- Work directly with engineering and business teams to understand their workflows, constraints, and bottlenecks, and build solutions that address how they actually work.
- Build and operate the infrastructure that engineers and agents depend on, including development environments, build and test systems, code review, and release tooling.
- Make our codebases, systems, and internal knowledge easier for agents to navigate, understand, and use through better tooling, interfaces, documentation, and context.
- Take agent-driven workflows from prototype to production, building the evaluations, verification, and controls needed to delegate increasingly complex engineering work safely.
- Improve delivery speed and software quality together. Measure the impact of your work on development time, review effort, and production reliability, and use those results to guide what comes next.
- Evaluate emerging models, tools, and approaches through hands-on experimentation. Turn the evidence into clear technical decisions, and drive adoption of the technologies that prove useful.
- Use AI extensively in your own engineering work, share what works, and help colleagues adopt effective practices. Partner with engineering leadership and recruiting to strengthen how we hire and develop engineers who work effectively with AI.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with substantial work in infrastructure, platform engineering, or developer productivity in technically complex environments.
- Daily, hands-on use of AI models and coding tools, with practical judgment about where they perform well, where they fail, and how to verify their output.
- Strong proficiency in one of the languages – Python, Go or Rust, along with the willingness to learn other languages as the work requires.
- Broad familiarity with the systems used by AI product and applied research teams, including cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, data pipelines, and ML tooling. You don’t need deep expertise in every layer, but you should understand how they fit together.
- An ability to understand how engineers and researchers across disciplines work, paired with curiosity about the needs of business and operations teams. You build tools around users’ actual workflows and constraints.
- A drive to make codebases, systems, and processes easier to understand, operate, and change. You look for ways to replace brittle workflows and implicit knowledge with clear interfaces and reliable automation.
- Sound technical judgment about when to experiment, when to commit, and when to ship a pragmatic solution. You can balance immediate delivery with investments that make future work faster and more reliable.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to lead our legal work on AI regulation in the United States and to support our global AI regulatory posture.
In this role, you will be an in-house regulatory lawyer for Anthropic's US AI regulation and a key contributor to our global frontier AI compliance strategy. You will provide regulatory-readiness counseling as new laws are developed, day-to-day advice once they are in force, and legal support for Anthropic's non-contentious engagement with US regulators and standards bodies. While the role is US-focused, AI regulation is inherently global: you will help ensure a consistent worldwide compliance posture, coordinate closely with colleagues leading our EU and international workstreams, and contribute to EU AI Act and other international work where it overlaps with your areas. You will work at the intersection of novel legal questions, fast-moving product development, and a high-profile regulatory environment, cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Safeguards, Security, Policy, Research, and product teams.
Key responsibilities
Serve as one of Anthropic's lead in-house regulatory counsel for US AI regulation, covering applicability analysis, readiness, day-to-day advice, and compliance-program design
Own US regulatory compliance deliverables end to end, such as published safety and transparency frameworks, model documentation obligations, and incident-reporting requirements
Track legislative, regulatory, and standards developments across US federal and state jurisdictions (and internationally where relevant), assess applicability and impact on Anthropic's business and products, and design compliance approaches well in advance of obligations taking effect
Counsel legal, compliance, safety, security, and business teams on day-to-day regulatory questions once laws are in force, translating complex and often ambiguous requirements into practical guidance and scalable compliance programs
Support Anthropic's engagement with US AI regulators, enforcement agencies, and standards bodies — including notifications, information requests, reporting obligations, and voluntary framework and standards processes — in close partnership with Policy
Partner with Anthropic's Policy and Policy Legal teams on pre-legislative and rulemaking engagement, including comment letters and regulatory submissions, translating policy positions into legally-grounded regulatory positions
Partner with Anthropic's Litigation and Regulatory Investigations Legal teams on litigation and regulatory enforcement concerning AI regulation
Contribute to Anthropic's global frontier AI regulatory work where it intersects with US obligations
Minimum qualifications
JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one US state bar
Hands-on experience advising a technology business (in-house or at a leading law firm) on emerging regulatory regimes, including taking questions from first read of a statute through to a documented compliance position and a shipped artifact
Experience engaging with regulators, enforcement agencies, or standards bodies in a non-contentious supervisory capacity
Experience drafting regulatory compliance deliverables, such as compliance policies, regulatory submissions, or published compliance frameworks
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to technical, policy, product, and business audiences
Preferred qualifications
8–12 years of regulatory legal experience, with substantive depth in technology regulation and hands-on exposure to AI-specific frameworks
Direct experience with frontier AI regulatory regimes — California SB 53, the Colorado AI Act, or comparable state laws; or the EU AI Act and GPAI Code of Practice
Experience at a frontier AI company, large technology platform, or other hyper-scaling technology business operating under novel regulatory regimes
Familiarity with adjacent laws that intersect with AI regulation — e.g., privacy and data protection, consumer protection, product safety, and export controls
Familiarity with model evaluation, capability testing, or AI safety concepts
A background that combines private practice and in-house experience
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to develop novel compliance approaches in areas without established precedent
Strong organizational skills to run several workstreams in parallel and keep compliance artifacts current without prompting
Excellence at cross-functional collaboration
Passion for responsible AI development and getting the balance right between innovation and appropriate safeguards
Understanding of how to build constructive long-term relationships with regulators and standards bodies
Role-specific policy: For this role, we expect all staff to be able to work from our San Francisco or New York office at least 3 days a week, though we encourage you to apply even if you might need some flexibility for an interim period of time.

Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us.

How we're different
This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About Anthropic
Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
A large and growing share of Claude usage reaches customers through our cloud partners — Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud's Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry. These surfaces require bespoke solutions so our approaches have to be designed for third-party distribution from the start. In this role you will own how Anthropic's model safeguards, fraud defenses, and compliance posture show up on every cloud.
Responsibilities:
Model Safety Across Clouds
Own the multi-cloud strategy and roadmap for our safeguards — data retention, automated review, human review, and enforcement — designed to fit each partner's operating model
Design product experiences and operations paths for managing eligibility criteria, verification paths, and the controls attached to differentiated capabilities for higher-trust organizations
Build threat-intelligence sharing with AWS, Google, and Microsoft so misuse is detected and acted on consistently across surfaces
Drive our transparency commitments to customers and partners on data access, review, and enforcement
Fraud & Abuse
Own fraud and abuse defenses for partner-sold offerings: bot and mass-registration abuse, pre- and post-sale risk controls, and chargebacks where the partner owns billing
Define the fraud signals we exchange with each cloud partner and turn them into product requirements that influence growth initiatives
Cross-functional Leadership
Engage directly with enterprise security, risk, and compliance leaders to understand their requirements and turn them into roadmap priorities
Be Anthropic's product counterpart to trust & safety, security, and compliance teams at AWS, Google, and Microsoft
Work with Safeguards, Inference, Policy, Security, Legal, and multi-cloud engineering to ship one coherent set of controls across three clouds
Partner with sales and partnerships to support enterprise evaluations where data-handling and safety requirements are decisive
Work with marketing and partner teams on how we position our safeguards externally
Minimum requirements:
Have 10+ years of experience.
Have 5+ years of product experience in platform product roles on high-scale, enterprise- or developer-facing software.
Operate with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, with a track record of executing across teams and organizations.
Are an excellent written communicator and able to drive clarity out of complexity.
Are equally fluent in policy nuance and systems detail, and can explain the tradeoff between them to lawyers, engineers, go to market teams, and partner executives alike.
Preferred requirements
Prior product experience in trust & safety, security, privacy, or compliance.
Have built or shipped products with a hyper-scaler as a partner — you know how to align strategic goals and deliver impact over multiple quarters in partnership with an external third party
Have owned a top line revenue target while being held to counter-risk outcome — a fraud-loss number, an abuse rate, a compliance authorization, an enforcement program — not just a product roadmap.
Direct experience on a trust & safety, fraud, or security product team at AWS, GCP, or Azure — or at an ISV that ships through one of their marketplaces.
Background in AI safety, content moderation, or abuse-detection systems.
Designed incident-response or escalation processes that span more than one company.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
