About the job
As a member of the AI model team, you will drive innovation in training and optimizing vision-language models with a focus on real-world deployment. Your work will span the full model development lifecycle - from data curation and training pipeline design to model evaluation and optimization - with the goal of building models that are both highly capable and practical to deploy at scale.
You will work across a wide spectrum of multimodal architectures integrating text and vision, applying state-of-the-art research to improve model quality, efficiency, and domain-specific performance. We expect you to bring a research-driven mindset combined with strong engineering discipline - someone who can identify the right technique for a given problem, implement it rigorously, and measure its impact clearly.
You will work closely with a small, high-caliber team where your contributions will have direct and meaningful impact. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what multimodal AI can achieve in production environments, this is your opportunity.
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end research and engineering on vision-language models, covering training, evaluation, and optimization across the full model development lifecycle.
Design and implement post-training pipelines including supervised fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and reinforcement learning from human feedback.

Drive model efficiency and deployability, adapting models for resource-constrained environments using compression and optimization techniques.
Design and implement evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to measure model performance, robustness, and real-world task success.
Build and scale training workflows across distributed GPU infrastructure.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in training pipelines to achieve state-of-the-art model quality on target benchmarks.
Contribute to and leverage open-source ecosystems including models, datasets, and tooling to accelerate development.

Publish research findings in top-tier AI conferences and journals where applicable.
Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field; MS/PhD preferred.
Strong experience with multimodal post-training workflows including supervised fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and reinforcement learning from feedback.
Hands-on experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning and distributed training frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to build and improve vision-language models with measurable results on standard benchmarks or real-world tasks.
Experience adapting models for resource-constrained environments.
Proven open-source contributions in multimodal AI on GitHub or HuggingFace.
Publications at top AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ECCV etc.)

We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.
We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.
We are a global technology company headquartered in Toronto with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Join us!
ABOUT NORTH
North is Cohere's agentic AI platform: it securely deploys AI agents and automations inside an organization's own infrastructure, combining generative and search models with customizable integrations to drive productivity at scale.
OVERVIEW
North is only as valuable as the systems it can reach - CRM, ITSM, productivity suites, data warehouses, knowledge stores, and identity. You'll own that integrations surface end to end.
It’s a dual mandate: own the integrations themselves (prioritize, ship, and drive adoption) and build the underlying platform capabilities they depend on when those don't yet exist.
OUTCOMES
- Family of integrations that are adopted and driving customer value, measured by usage and retention.
- Reusable, platform-level capabilities and a developer and partner on-ramp that scale across use cases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the integration ecosystem strategy for North - roadmap, catalogue priorities, and partner posture - anchored to customer demand and revenue.
- Own North's integrations end to end, and partner with strategic customers to define transformative, integrations-based workflows.
- Derive generic, platform-level capabilities (connector framework, auth and identity, tool-use, data sync, permissioning) where they don't yet exist, partnering with the core-experience team on shared work.
- Collaborate with forward-deployed engineering to define how to evolve integration work into reusable product, to scope, sequence, and build it.
- Define the developer and partner experience (APIs, SDKs, plugin model, docs) and instrument analytics to track adoption, time-to-stand-up, and retention.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years in product management on platform / API, integrations, or developer / ecosystem products.
- Track record shipping integration, connector, or platform products with real impact on adoption, expansion, or retention.
- Experience working directly with high-stakes customers and ecosystem partners.
- Technical fluency with APIs, auth, data models, and integration architecture; comfortable with first-party vs. partner vs. self-serve tradeoffs.
- Analytical and metrics-first, and a strong cross-functional collaborator across engineering, design, and field / deployment teams.
- Experience with AI-first product management.
- Bias for shipping and iterating.
- Experience with a least a few domains of: Agentic AI, LLMs, Automation, Productivity, Enterprise security and compliance.
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES AT COHERE ENJOY THESE PERKS:

Education & learning stipend for conferences, courses, and coaching.
- 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days!)
- Budget for traveling to other offices if you are remote, plus an annual company offsite.
HOW AND WHERE WE WORK:
- Cohere is remote-friendly, but we also have offices in Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul with more opening soon.
- For those in the office: a daily lunch program, plenty of snacks, and regular community and social events.
- For those not near an office: a co-working benefit so you can work alongside others in your city.

About the Liquidity Platform
The Liquidity Platform provides cutting-edge technology that covers all aspects of crypto trading. We build low-latency connectivity to global crypto venues — across both CeFi and DeFi — strategy services for automated pricing and trading bots, high-frequency data capture and analysis, and state-of-the-art micro frontends for trading management. On top of this infrastructure, we build highly customized strategies to facilitate crypto liquidity.
Our engineering teams own the full trading lifecycle, from venue connectivity and execution to strategy, data, risk, and analytics. Our risk solutions are independent of trading logic, decoupled by design, and connected to 20+ trading venues across spot, derivatives, and event-contract markets. If you are a strong technologist excited about the potential of crypto trading and fully-automated systematic trading, we should talk.
About the Role
We are hiring software engineers across the Liquidity Platform’s engineering teams. You will design, build, and operate the systems that price, execute, monitor, and safeguard our liquidity-providing business 24/7. You will work closely with liquidity managers, product managers, and desk developers — developing strategies, services, and infrastructure using in-house toolkits — while growing capabilities in inventory and risk management, strategic problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and effective communication.
These roles are open to Senior and Staff-level candidates; scope and title are calibrated based on experience and impact. Specializations span Delta One Systematic Trading, Cash OTC, Option Market Making, Trading Infra Service, Data Engineering and Risk & Analytics.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design, build, and operate scalable, fault-tolerant, low-latency trading infrastructure and microservices that handle 24/7 crypto market operations.
Build and maintain connectivity to centralized exchanges, DeFi venues, and counterparties using FIX 5.0+, WebSocket, HTTP/2, and REST — handling the real-world complexities of external integrations and on-chain data.
Develop and maintain core services across the trading lifecycle: strategy and execution engines, automated pricing and trading bots, order execution and position tracking, trade & position data platforms, and risk & analytics systems.
Architect and optimize high-throughput order execution with sub-millisecond latency targets, and build real-time market-data pipelines aggregating order books and price feeds across multiple venues.
Implement pre-trade risk controls, circuit breakers, rate limiters, position/PnL and risk calculations, automated alerting, and high-availability architecture.
Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and auto-recovery so strategies remain stable, scalable, and self-healing in a 24x7 trading environment.
Build trusted data models, reconciliation workflows, and data-quality controls with clear lineage, reproducibility, and documentation — delivering outputs for the trading desk, Finance, and Operations.
Profile and eliminate latency hotspots using garbage-free coding and lock-free concurrency; continuously improve system performance and user experience.
Collaborate with liquidity managers, product managers, desk developers, risk, finance, and operations to design, implement, and roll solutions into production.
Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and uphold scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and security best practices across all development activities.

Strong proficiency in one or more of Java (17+), Rust, C++, or Python, with a focus on code quality and operational reliability.
