Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US.
As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations.
Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Synthesia's long-term vision is to build the best human-interactive models: systems that don't just talk to people, but perceive and respond to them, reacting to a user's actions and emotions, not only their words. Today over 60,000 businesses rely on our platform, and the next leap in what we can offer them depends on models that combine text, audio, and video into a single real-time interactive experience.
As a Staff Research Engineer, you'll join the Voice team within our 40+ person R&D department, but your scope will extend well beyond voice. You'll help define and drive that broader vision across teams, proposing ambitious research directions and taking direct ownership of the design and implementation of its most critical components. You'll work directly with our voice lead and collaborate tightly with our video teams and other senior members of the org.
Concretely, you'll work on voice to voice models that produce text and voice simultaneously. Models that can reason, interrupt the user with back channeling and talk. Models that feel like you are having a natural conversation with, without the feeling of turn taking that is dominant in current speech to speech models. Your role would be to partner in defining a roadmap, implementing it and shipping the outcomes to product.
What you'll do
- Shape our roadmap to create new model capabilities and unlock new functionality for our customer base, on both short and long time horizons.
- Propose novel multi-modal system architectures (especially text and voice).
- Develop and evaluate streaming and conversational systems for low-latency, interactive voice-video synthesis.
- Design solutions that reinforce emotional expressiveness and natural interaction.
- Implement and bring designs to life, from pretraining through post-training.
- Integrate and test novel architectures (neural codecs, diffusion, flow-matching) to enhance realism and responsiveness.
- Define new evaluation metrics for conversational systems, including latency-aware and interaction-based measurements.
- Track the latest research in audio-visual diffusion, autoregressive models, neural codecs, and multimodal LLMs.
- Curate new datasets to complement existing data.
- Lead post-training initiatives like DPO, fine-tuning, and distillation to bring models to shipping quality.
- Ship models to production with optimised runtime to serve customers, and address their feedback thereafter.
YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
- The ability to bring novel ideas and designs that advance the field of interactive multimodal systems.
- Strong understanding of generative modelling, ideally applied to sequential or multimodal data.
- Hands-on experience with large language models or similar transformer-based architectures.
- High proficiency in PyTorch, including distributed training and model optimization.
- A solid grasp of time-series modeling and tokenization, preferably in the context of audio, speech, or video.
- A demonstrated ability to prototype quickly, test hypotheses, and iterate efficiently.
- Proven experience training deep learning models end-to-end, from data preparation through evaluation.
- Strong general software engineering skills, enabling contributions to a large, shared research infrastructure.
PARTICULARLY RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Having shipped a generative model into a live product used at meaningful scale, not just published or prototyped it.
- Working on conversational or interactive systems where latency, responsiveness, and user experience were first-class constraints, not afterthoughts.
- Working on LLMs with large scale trainings leadings to models with decent reasoning capabilities
- Owning a research problem end to end: from architecture proposal through pretraining, post-training, and production deployment.
- Collaborating across modalities or teams (e.g. audio and video, or research and product) to ship a unified system.
BONUS POINTS FOR
- Experience with real-time or streaming architectures.
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art architectures in audio and speech generation, such as diffusion models, neural codecs, flow-matching models, or autoregressive decoders.
- Excellence in one or more of the following modalities: voice, text, video.
- Evidence of original research contributions, such as publications or open-source work at top-tier venues (e.g. NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, Interspeech).

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
OUR MISSION
At Humanoid we strive to create the world's leading, commercially scalable, safe, and advanced humanoid robots that seamlessly integrate into daily life and amplify human capacity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Research Engineer on the World Models team, you will build action-conditioned generative models that predict how the world evolves around our robots — future video, proprioception, contacts, and outcomes — from past observations and actions. World models serve four purposes in our stack: a pretrained, physics-aware prior for our VLA policies; an engine for rare data collection, cross-platform transfer, and sim-to-real transfer; a testbed for policy evaluation and testing before hardware; and a future-prediction rollout engine that surfaces what our policies intend to do, for safety and planning. This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you will design architectures, run large training jobs, and validate your models against real fleet data from industrial deployments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and train multimodal world models — video, state, action, and language — using diffusion-based and transformer architectures.
- Build action-conditioned video prediction and dynamics models that stay physically consistent over long horizons, including contact-rich manipulation, and serve as pretrained priors for VLA policies.
- Develop learned-simulator evaluation: score candidate policies offline, predict real-world success rates before deployment, and roll out policy futures to expose intended behaviour for safety review and planning.
- Generate synthetic rollouts and counterfactual experience — including rare events, cross-platform transfer, and sim-to-real transfer — to augment policy training, and measure their effect on downstream task performance.
- Establish fidelity metrics and calibration protocols that quantify where the world model can be trusted and where it diverges from reality.
- Build data pipelines that turn fleet telemetry, teleoperation logs, and internet-scale video into training corpora for world models.
- Run scaling and ablation studies on architecture, data mixture, and context length; communicate findings crisply.
- Collaborate with pretraining, RL, and manipulation teams to integrate world models into policy training and evaluation loops.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A track record of training large generative models — video, world, or multimodal — with shipped models or published artifacts to show for it.
- Deep hands-on experience with modern generative architectures: diffusion models, autoregressive transformers, latent-variable models, or video prediction.
- Experience with large-scale distributed training: streaming datasets, checkpointing and state management, debugging numerics and training instabilities.
- Strong Python + PyTorch/JAX; you can profile kernels, optimize data loaders, and write maintainable research code.
- Empirical rigor: you design careful evaluations, run honest baselines, and document experiments clearly.
- Excitement about grounding generative models in physical reality rather than pixels alone.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with world models for robotics or autonomous driving (e.g., action-conditioned video models, learned simulators, model-based RL).
- Familiarity with robotics simulators (Isaac Sim, MuJoCo) and sim-to-real considerations.
- Experience using world models for policy evaluation or synthetic data generation at scale.
- Publications at top-tier deep learning conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CoRL, CVPR) or equivalent open-source contributions.
- Experience optimizing generative models for fast inference.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.
Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $100m in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud - managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.
But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking an
AI Workflow Engineer
!
About the Role:
Backblaze is running a company-wide AI transformation program, and this role is where strategy becomes something you can actually use. As AI Workflow Engineer, you will be the hands-on builder inside the AI Program Office - embedded alongside the Director, AI Enablement, and deployed into non-GTM, non-Engineering business teams to prototype, build, and ship AI-powered workflow solutions that make a measurable difference in how work gets done.
This is not a research role or a strategy role. You will spend your time building: prompt architectures, automation flows, lightweight agents, API integrations, and demos that help a business team see - concretely - what AI can do for them. You will move across functions, which means you need to understand how businesses actually operate. The ideal background is someone who started in a business-facing role - finance, operations, marketing, customer success, HR - and developed serious hands-on AI and automation skills on top of that foundation.
You will work closely with the Director, AI Enablement, who owns the program management and delivery layer. Your job is to make their scoped solutions real - fast, iteratively, and with enough rigor that what you build can go to production.
What You Will Do:
Build and Ship AI Workflow Solutions
Take scoped use cases from the Director, AI Enablement and build working solutions: prompt layers, automation flows, lightweight agents, RAG implementations, and API integrations that connect AI tools to the systems business teams already use
Build working prototypes quickly - the goal is to show a team what is possible in days, not weeks, then refine based on what actually lands
Translate a documented workflow assessment into a technical design, select the right tools for the job, and own the build through to a deployable solution
Maintain solution documentation that is clear enough for handoff, iteration, and audit - not just for engineers, but for the business owner who will live with it
Embed in Business Teams
Spend time inside the functions you are building for - Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing Ops, Customer Success, and others - understanding how the work actually flows before you redesign it
Run working sessions with team members to map current-state workflows, surface friction points, and identify where AI creates real leverage versus where it creates noise
Build credibility with non-technical stakeholders by showing them working solutions, not decks - and by being honest about what will and will not work
Support user acceptance testing and early adoption, troubleshooting issues close to launch and iterating based on real usage
Support the AI Program Office
Build demos and proof-of-concepts that help the Director, AI Enablement make the case for a use case - or disqualify it early before resources are committed
Contribute to vendor and tool evaluations with a builder's perspective: not just whether a tool claims to do something, but whether it actually works in the context of a specific workflow
Feed learnings from the build process back into the program - what worked, what did not, what should be standardized across functions
Work on tactical quick wins and longer-horizon strategic builds at the same time, switching contexts across active use cases as priorities shift
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
You have completed at least one workflow assessment alongside the Director and produced a working prototype from it
At least one solution you built is in active use by a business team, with a named owner and feedback loop in place
You have worked inside at least two different business functions and understand their core workflows well enough to identify the next use case without being told
The Director, AI Enablement trusts you to own the build layer independently - scoping conversations happen together, execution happens with you driving
The Right Fit:
2-4 years of experience that includes meaningful time working inside a business-facing function - operations, finance, marketing, customer success, HR, or similar - not just in Engineering or IT
Hands-on experience building with AI tools: prompt engineering, automation platforms (Make, Zapier, n8n, or equivalent), API integrations, and at least working familiarity with RAG architectures and agent frameworks
Proven ability to take a messy real-world process, understand it from the inside, and build something that makes it faster or better - not just technically cleaner
Comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders: you can explain what you are building without jargon, gather requirements without a formal spec, and manage expectations when a prototype needs three more iterations
Strong enough with code or no-code tools to get solutions to a deployable state independently - you do not need an engineer to ship your work
Able to manage multiple active projects at different stages without dropping anything - a quick win in HR this week does not mean the Finance automation waits
Genuinely curious about how companies work: the org chart, the incentives, the handoffs, the bottlenecks. This is what separates a good AI builder from a great one in a business context
Bonus Points For:
Direct experience working in or closely with G&A, Finance, Legal, Marketing Ops, or Customer Success teams - you have lived in the workflows you will be redesigning
Familiarity with AI governance basics: data handling, PII awareness, and when a use case needs a security or privacy review before it ships
Experience working in a small program or startup environment where you wore multiple hats and shipped without a lot of process overhead
Experience in cloud infrastructure, SaaS, or storage companies - comfort with technical products and the teams that build them
A portfolio, GitHub, or examples of AI workflows or automations you have built - something you can show, not just describe

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic's RL Scaling Science team studies how reinforcement learning behaves as we scale it (across model size, compute, and task horizon) and turns that understanding into the training recipes behind our frontier models. As a Research Engineer on this team, you'll design and run large-scale experiments to understand and resolve bottlenecks, build the benchmarks that make long-horizon progress measurable, and ship validated findings directly into production training.
This role lives at the boundary between research and engineering. The problems are open, the experiments run at frontier scale, and the path from a robust result to production is short.
Key responsibilities
Design, run, and interpret large-scale RL experiments, reasoning rigorously about what the data does and doesn't show
Investigate how RL improves as horizon, compute, and model size grow
Build and maintain benchmarks for long-horizon RL so progress is measurable and reproducible
Translate validated findings into production training recipes, exercising judgment about when a result is robust enough to ship
Debug complex issues at the seam where research meets infrastructure - failures that only appear at scale
Partner closely with adjacent RL teams across research and engineering and advance our overall RL stack
Minimum qualifications
Strong empirical research skills in Reinforcement Learning, large-scale ML training, or a closely adjacent area
Demonstrated ability to own large experiments end-to-end, from design through interpretation
Proficiency in Python and experience working with large-scale or distributed ML systems
Comfort operating at the research/systems boundary, including debugging where the two meet
Care about the societal impacts of AI and responsible scaling
Preferred qualifications
Published or shipped work in long-horizon RL or RL fundamentals
Experience translating research findings into production training recipes
Demonstrated large scale industry impact via RL interventions
Experience working on frontier-scale training runs with long trajectories
Representative projects
Design a benchmark suite for long-horizon RL that distinguishes genuine capability gains from artifacts of evaluation setup
Take a promising experimental finding, stress-test it across model scales, and work with training teams to land it in a production recipe
Investigate an unexpected scaling trend in an RL run and trace it to a root cause spanning algorithm, data, and infrastructure

About the Opportunity
This is not a traditional GRC hire. The Tech G
overnance
Office is looking for someone who combines the governance judgment of a seasoned compliance professional with the drive of a forward-deployed engineer — someone who closes gaps by shipping solutions, navigates ambiguity without hand-holding, and operates with the urgency of a startup and the rigour of a regulated financial institution.
You will own complex cross-functional workstreams independently — coordinating across Engineering, Legal, Product, and Finance — while managing external auditors and regulators. Strong written and verbal communication in both English and Mandarin is a meaningful advantage in this role. AI tooling is not optional; it is how you work.
Who You Are
Self-directed driver
— You run cross-functional workstreams without being managed. Ambiguity is a starting point, not a blocker.
AI-native operator
— You already use AI to do more, faster — and you raise the floor for the teams around you.
Clear communicator
— You earn trust across regulators, auditors, and C-suite through precision and consistency — in any room.
Culture Fit
Pace
Standards
Startup velocity
— Decisions move fast. Priorities shift. You ship, iterate, and adapt — without waiting for perfect conditions or top-down direction.
Financial institution rigour
— Audit trails matter. Regulators scrutinise. The bar for accuracy, documentation, and accountability is institutional-grade — always.
> The tension between these two is not a bug — it is the job. We are looking for someone who holds both without compromise.
What You’ll Be Doing
Independently lead audit remediation programmes — assess gaps, develop structured plans, and drive verified closure across engineering, product, legal, and operations without escalation dependency.
Own cross-functional governance workstreams — set milestones, coordinate accountability, and remove blockers across departments with limited management oversight.
Conduct IT security and architecture governance reviews — assess whether systems and processes meet applicable standards, and issue findings with clear ownership and remediation timelines.
Build and maintain the policy estate — draft, refine, and operationalise IT governance policies and procedures; translate regulatory requirements into implementation-ready guidance for first-line teams.
Lead regulator and auditor engagement — serve as the primary coordination interface for external audit and regulatory correspondence, representing the Tech G
overnance
Office with credibility and precision.
Deploy AI to accelerate compliance operations — prototype and scale AI-assisted workflows for evidence collection, control monitoring, audit response, and policy generation; drive team-wide adoption.
Deliver Tech G
overnance
-level reporting — produce governance dashboards and executive briefs on remediation status, risk exposure, and regulatory posture, independently and to publication standard.
Track the regulatory horizon — monitor evolving requirements across active jurisdictions, translate changes into prioritised internal action, and brief senior leadership proactively.
What We Look For In You
AI Adoption & Application — Must Have
Active daily use of AI tools to accelerate compliance and governance work — demonstrated practice with measurable output impact, not theoretical awareness.
Ability to identify, build, and scale AI-assisted workflows within a Tech G
overnance
office context — evidence automation, policy generation, audit response, or control monitoring.
Working knowledge of AI governance and risk — sufficient to contribute to internal AI oversight frameworks and assess AI-related compliance obligations.
Independent Cross-Functional Leadership — Must Have
Demonstrated ability to own and drive complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams independently — setting direction, coordinating accountability, and delivering outcomes without management escalation.
Track record of influencing without authority across engineering, legal, finance, and operations in a fast-moving environment.
Comfortable operating under ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining institutional-grade standards for accuracy and documentation.
Experience
8+ years in IT audit, risk management, compliance, or security governance
3+ years leading governance programmes at a large-scale internet, financial services, or crypto firm
Exposure to IPO-readiness or high-scrutiny regulatory examination programmes preferred
Frameworks & Standards
ISO 27001, SOC 1/2, PCI-DSS, COBIT, NIST — deep working knowledge
GDPR and APAC data protection regimes
Crypto and blockchain-specific compliance risk awareness a strong asset
Engineering Sensibility
Able to read and interpret code, architecture diagrams, and technical design documents without engineer-translation dependency
Familiarity with cloud environments (Alibaba Cloud, AWS, GCP) and associated security tooling
Communication
Executive-level written and verbal communication in English — board-ready governance briefs, regulator responses, and Tech G
overnance
-level reporting produced independently
Proficiency in Mandarin (written and verbal) is a strong advantage for APAC regulatory and stakeholder engagement
Preferred Qualifications
Professional security or governance certification:
CISA · CISSP · CRISC · CISM · CCISO · Agentic AI
Experience building AI-powered compliance tooling — audit automation, continuous control monitoring, or policy-to-control mapping
Prior involvement in SOX ITGC, SEC Reg S-K Item 106, or equivalent listing-authority tech governance programmes
Crypto-native compliance exposure — Proof of Reserves, SAB 121, Travel Rule, AML/CFT programme governance

Your skillset:
- You have significant experience in product marketing, proposition development or a closely related discipline, ideally within a consumer-facing digital business.
- You are a strong strategic thinker: you can break down complex market dynamics and translate them into a clear, well-reasoned point of view that earns buy-in across the organisation.
- You understand customers at a level that goes beyond research decks. You know how to build real insight and how to apply it to proposition decisions.
- You are an exceptional communicator, written and verbal. You can make a complex argument simple and a simple argument compelling.
- You know how to work in a matrixed organisation. You lead through influence and build momentum behind things you don't directly control.
- You have a data-driven mindset. You bring evidence to your thinking and your strategies
- You are hands-on. You can move between setting direction and doing the work, depending on what the moment requires.
Perks of joining us:
- Company pension contributions at 5%.
- Individualised training budget for you to learn on the job and level yourself up.
- Discounted holidays for you, your family and friends.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the RL Teams
Our Reinforcement Learning teams play a critical role in advancing our AI systems. We've contributed to all Claude models, with significant impacts on the autonomy and coding capabilities of our latest Claude models. Our work spans several key areas:
Developing systems that enable models to use computers effectively
Advancing code generation through reinforcement learning
Pioneering fundamental RL research for large language models
Building scalable RL infrastructure and training methodologies
Enhancing model reasoning capabilities
We collaborate closely with Anthropic's alignment and frontier red teams to ensure our systems are both capable and safe. We partner with the applied production training team to bring research innovations into deployed models, and are dedicated to implement our research at scale. Our Reinforcement Learning teams sit at the intersection of cutting-edge research and engineering excellence, with a deep commitment to building high-quality, scalable systems that push the boundaries of what AI can accomplish.
About the Role
We're hiring for the Code RL team within the RL organization. As a Research Engineer, you'll advance our models' ability to write, edit, test, debug, and ship real software — end to end, on real codebases, with real tools — and to do it correctly, fast, and safely.
This role blends research and engineering. You'll design RL environments and coding tasks, build the reward signals and verifiers that capture what "good code" means, run training experiments on frontier models, diagnose why a model does (or doesn't) get better at a class of software-engineering work, and improve the speed and reliability of the pipelines that make all of that iterate fast. Code RL spans several focus areas — from agentic coding behaviors and code correctness, to long-horizon autonomous engineering, to high-performance code for accelerators — and we'll match you to the area where you'll have the most impact.
You may be a good fit if you:
Have strong software-engineering skills and deep Python expertise, including async/concurrent programming
Are comfortable owning systems end to end and debugging across the stack
Can balance research exploration with engineering implementation, and engage rigorously in shaping experimental design and interpreting results
Care about code quality, testing, and performance
Are passionate about the potential impact of AI and are committed to developing safe and beneficial systems
Strong candidates may also have:
Experience with reinforcement learning, RLHF, post-training, or LLM finetuning
Built coding agents, code-execution sandboxes, eval harnesses, verifiers, or developer tooling
Background in program analysis, testing, verification, compilers, or formal methods
Experience with PyTorch and large-scale distributed training; performance profiling and optimization of ML systems
CUDA / GPU or TPU kernel experience and accelerator-performance intuition
Experience with virtualization and sandboxed code execution environments
Related roles
If your background leans toward one of these areas specifically, you may also want to look at these postings:
Research Engineer, Performance RL (Reinforcement Learning)
— teaching Claude to write correct, fast code for accelerators
Research Engineer, Universes
— long-horizon, ultra-realistic agentic training environments
Research Engineer, Cybersecurity RL (Reinforcement Learning)
— RL for security-relevant coding capabilities
