Strategy and Organisational Design Director— IDEO London
In a Nutshell
IDEO London is looking for a Strategy and Organisational Design Director who understands that strategy without activation is just intention — and that the gap between ambition and reality is where organisations most need a thinking partner.
This is a senior role for someone who reads organisations the way a designer reads a brief: with curiosity about what's really going on beneath the surface, and with a clear instinct for where the real levers for change are. You understand how systems work — how structure, incentives, culture, and leadership interact to make or break a strategy — and you know how to work with those forces rather than against them.
When organisations are navigating something genuinely hard or new — adapting to AI, restructuring how decisions get made, building new capabilities, shifting culture, or figuring out what to stop doing — they don't need more frameworks or slides. They need someone who can help them see the system clearly, make honest choices, and design a path forward that will actually stick. And they need the confidence to act.
You'll spend most of your time leading complex client engagements, particularly in our Health portfolio, directing multidisciplinary teams and building trusted relationships with senior leaders. Alongside that, you'll help build something: IDEO London's strategy and organisational design practice, at a moment when the studio is intentionally investing in depth, expertise, and the kind of work that moves organisations forward rather than producing reports about them.
About IDEO London:
We’re a global design consultancy where curiosity, empathy, and solving complex challenges drive us. For over 40 years, we’ve partnered with clients to innovate in healthcare, financial services, mobility, retail, and beyond. Here, every challenge is a chance to grow, connect, and create impact across our communities in the UK, US and Asia.
Why is this role important for IDEO's work?
Organisations today are facing increasing pressure to evolve: adapting to new technologies, shifting customer expectations, changing workforce dynamics, and growing complexity across systems and markets. Strategy alone is not enough. Organisations need support translating ambition into the structures, behaviours, capabilities, and ways of working that make change real.
This role sits at the heart of that shift. The clients who need us most are navigating real transformation — health organisations reinventing how they deliver care, companies trying to embed AI into how their people work, leadership teams grappling with the human cost of change that's moving too fast. They need someone who can see the whole system, name what's really holding things back, and design interventions that create lasting change rather than temporary momentum.
Strategy at IDEO is not just about the quality of the thinking in the room. It's about what happens when the engagement ends. This role exists to make sure that gap closes.
Once here you will
Lead complex strategy and organisational design engagements from framing through to activation — not just defining the direction, but designing what needs to change for that direction to become real
Read organisations as systems: understand the structures, incentives, behaviours, and cultures that shape how things actually work, and identify the levers most likely to drive meaningful, lasting change
Act as a senior client partner — building trust with leadership teams over time, shaping the conversation before the brief is written, scoping opportunities, and staying invested in outcomes long after the engagement closes
Direct multidisciplinary teams across strategy, research, and design, holding both rigour and creativity, and keeping work grounded in what will genuinely move the organisation forward
Help clients make honest strategic choices — not just articulating ambition, but surfacing trade-offs, challenging assumptions, and aligning leadership around what they're actually committing to
Prototype strategic and organisational futures in practice: test ideas through experimentation and iteration so clients build real confidence before they scale
Facilitate executive conversations that advance decisions rather than defer them — bringing both structure and sensitivity to rooms where the stakes are high and consensus is hard
Contribute to IDEO's strategy and organisational design practice: develop methods, build POVs, mentor colleagues, and help make the studio's expertise visible and distinctive
Coach and mentor designers and project leads, modelling excellent client communication, facilitation, and strategic thinking
Help clients navigate the human dimensions of AI adoption — how organisations restructure for it, how teams build confidence with it, and how leaders model the change they're asking of others
Represent IDEO externally through writing, talks, and relationships — contributing to how the studio is known in the market for the quality and seriousness of its strategy work
We're looking for
Someone with a strong track record leading innovation, strategy and organisational design engagements — in consulting, in-house, or both — with the scars and the wisdom that come from seeing what it actually takes to make change stick
A genuine systems thinker: you understand how organisations work as interconnected wholes, and you know how to identify the structural, behavioural, and cultural levers that matter most
Someone who is as comfortable designing an organisational future as they are facilitating the difficult leadership conversation that makes it real — you move between strategy and making with ease
Experience helping organisations navigate real transformation: not just documenting what needs to change, but designing the conditions — structures, capabilities, rhythms, behaviours — that allow change to take hold
Strong facilitation and narrative skills, including the ability to hold senior executive rooms with clarity and care, and to build alignment across organisations where people genuinely disagree
People leadership that creates conditions for good work — you know how to direct a multidisciplinary team, develop junior talent, and maintain creative rigour under pressure
Experience scoping and building new client relationships — you're comfortable writing a proposal, shaping a brief, and growing an account over time
Curiosity about the intersection of strategy, AI, and the human dimensions of organisational change — you don't need to be a technologist, but you understand what AI is doing to organisations and what it means for the kind of strategy work clients need
It's a bonus if you
Have led transformation in health organisations
Have experience helping organisations navigate AI adoption in ways that are genuinely human-centred: restructuring for it, building capability around it, and managing the workforce anxieties it creates
Have built or contributed to an innovation practice or capability — you know what it takes to design for change from the inside
Are fluent in strategic choice-making frameworks (Playing to Win and others), and can use them as tools for real decision-making rather than as slides
Have experience in European markets or with European regulatory environments, where navigating complexity is part of the brief rather than an obstacle to it
Are fluent in a second language
What We Believe
IDEO exists to tackle the gnarliest problems in the world with imagination and optimism. For strategy and organisational design, that means something specific: we don't write strategies that live in decks. We design organisational futures that people can actually inhabit — where the structures make sense, the behaviours are possible, and the change has somewhere to go.
If you want to do strategy work that treats the human and systemic complexity of change as the design problem, not the obstacle — this is the right place to do it.
What does IDEO offer you?
Innovation and creativity:
Lead work that genuinely matters — from shaping organisational transformation and future growth strategies to building innovation capabilities at some of the world’s most ambitious organisations, working alongside talented people across disciplines.
Learning and growth:
Whether it’s deepening your organisational design expertise, growing senior client relationships, or building your external profile through speaking and writing, we’re here to support your development.
Community and well-being:
Collaboration and community are central to what we do. We foster moments for creativity, connection, and reflection, and respect the need for work-life balance.
Projects with purpose:
We partner with clients to use design as a force for good, solving meaningful problems from inception through to implementation.
Compensation:
£90,000–£100,000 GBP, depending on experience.
Location:
This position is based out of our London studio with an in-person-first working model, including at least three days a week working from the studio.
Please note that the successful candidate must be based in the UK and have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. IDEO proudly supports flexible work.
Commitment to Diversity
At IDEO, we are committed to the work of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organisation and in the world. Our purpose of having disproportionate, world-changing impact through design is directly connected to our ability to bring many different perspectives to the table. This applies to our candidates, the people we hire, the clients and customers we serve, and the communities we learn from in our research.
As a human-centred organisation, we are committed to working with and designing for people of every race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, physical ability or attribute, religion, national origin, or political belief. We recognise that this commitment requires ongoing work and sustained attention, as well as adaptation to new insights and best practices. We keep our diversity data public for the sake of accountability and transparency.
Application requirements and instructions:
If you identify with our values, are excited about great design, and would like to contribute to our community, we would love to see your CV, a cover letter, and examples of your work.
CV: please highlight experiences related to the ‘We’re looking for someone with’ section above
Cover letter: please share why you are interested in this role and how it aligns with how you are looking to grow in your career
Work examples (confidentiality permitting): please include two or three projects that demonstrate your experience leading strategic, organisational, or transformation work. For each, tell us the challenge, your role, the approach, and the impact.
We know that many of you are coming from a range of backgrounds — strategy consulting, organisational design, innovation, transformation, business leadership, or a mix of all of the above. We think about strategy and organisational design broadly, so include examples of whatever work best represents how you think, lead, and create impact.

Digital Product Director — IDEO London
Digital Product Director
In a Nutshell
IDEO London is looking for a Digital Product Director to help shape what it means to design AI-driven products that people actually trust. This is a senior role for someone who thinks of AI as a design material — not a feature set — and who understands that the hardest problems in AI aren't just technical. They're human.
You'll spend most of your time embedded in client work, directing product engagements from brief through to market. But you'll also help build something bigger: IDEO's AI product practice in Europe, at a moment when the regulatory landscape — the EU AI Act, CSRD, EHDS — is becoming a genuine creative opportunity for the organisations brave enough to treat it that way.
You'll report to the London Leadership Team and work closely with directors and interdisciplinary teams across the studio. Business development is a natural part of the role — growing relationships, shaping opportunities, and helping clients understand what it genuinely means to build AI into their products and organisations responsibly.
Why is this role important for IDEO's work?
The question has shifted. Companies aren't asking "what can AI do?" anymore. They're asking "how do we make AI investment turn into something our customers actually want — and trust?"
That's the work. And it takes more than technical fluency. It takes the ability to sit at the intersection of human need, business ambition, and the emerging rules that will define how AI gets built in Europe. IDEO's London studio is positioned to lead here — and this role is central to making that happen.
We're not building an ML shop. We're building the practice that helps clients move from aspiration to reality: designing socio-technical systems that are trustworthy by design, not just compliant by accident.
Once here you will
Lead digital product engagements from brief through to market, owning quality, pace, and the client relationship throughout
Act as the main client point of contact on strategic accounts, building trust beyond the immediate project team
Direct multidisciplinary teams with clear thinking and steady hands, keeping work moving without losing rigour or craft
Help clients navigate the shift from AI-bolted-on to AI-native — including what it means to design for agentic systems, human–AI collaboration, and the messy reality of non-deterministic interfaces
Prototype and pressure-test concepts early. IDEO's edge is that we prototype with live models — revealing the nuance of human and AI interaction rather than theorising about it
Contribute to our AIx practice — developing tools, methods, and points of view that sharpen how IDEO and our clients think about designing with AI responsibly and at scale
Help us treat the European regulatory environment as a design brief. The EU AI Act isn't a constraint to manage around; it's a creative opportunity to design through
Coach and mentor designers and product leads, modelling excellent craft and client communication
Scope and frame follow-on work, growing relationships and helping define where IDEO can have the greatest impact
Represent IDEO externally through talks, writing, and thought leadership — particularly at the intersection of trustworthy AI and human-centred design
We're looking for someone with
Someone with a strong track record of leading and launching complex digital products — senior or director-level, ideally across both in-house and consultancy environments
A designer and leader who has shipped products where AI plays a meaningful role — not as decoration, but as something that genuinely changes what the product can do and how people experience it
Someone who can hold both rigour and imagination: the discipline to ship, and the curiosity to prototype what hasn't been built yet
Genuine fluency in how AI is reshaping product design — including agentic systems, LLM-powered capabilities, and human–AI interaction patterns. You understand the real trade-offs, not just the marketing
Confident working in Figma and prototyping early — whether that's a clickable mockup, a coded proof-of-concept, or a live model running in a workshop. IDEO's differentiator is that we build to think
Strong people leadership: you develop talent, manage performance, and create the conditions for good work in fast-moving, cross-functional teams
Experience scoping and framing new work, writing proposals, and presenting to senior clients
Experience navigating complex stakeholders — you know how to build alignment without losing the point of view that makes the work worth doing
A genuine understanding of UX and interaction design fundamentals, with a portfolio that shows breadth across platforms and contexts
It's a bonus if you
Have shipped AI-native products — not AI features layered onto existing ones, but products where AI is structural to the experience
Have familiarity with the EU AI Act or the broader European regulatory landscape around AI — and ideally a point of view on what it means for design practice
Have experience in health, financial services, consumer technology, retail, or sustainability — the sectors where the London studio is most focused
Have helped build an innovation practice or capability within a larger organisation
Are fluent in a second European language
What We Believe
AI is a new material. The outcome still needs design. We build things because people want them — not just because we can. And we believe the best AI products aren't the most technically sophisticated ones; they're the ones that earn trust, create genuine agency for the humans using them, and hold up when the stakes are real.
If that's how you think about this work, we'd love to talk.
What does IDEO offer you?

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform team. This is an individual contributor role with outsized technical scope: you'll be the technical anchor for how Xsolla builds secure, high-scale auth infrastructure — setting direction, making hard architectural calls, and raising the bar across the org.
You will own the strategy behind authentication, authorization, and session management at scale, and evolve our OAuth 2.0 / OIDC flows and token lifecycle to meet both product and compliance needs. You operate with significant autonomy, but your decisions ripple across teams — so you'll spend real time building buy-in with engineering and security stakeholders, not just designing in isolation.
You are technically deep, calm under pressure, and comfortable being the escalation point when production IAM issues get hard. You write the RFCs and design docs that people actually read, and you create leverage for the broader engineering org through documentation, tooling, and mentorship — without needing a management title to do it.
HOW WE WORK

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform team.

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.
You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
This is a remote opportunity and we are looking for candidates from the UK, Sweden, Spain or Germany.
About the role:
Grafana Cloud runs Mimir, Loki, Tempo and Pyroscope as multi-tenant SaaS databases across AWS, GCP and Azure in regions worldwide. Our highest-SLA customers depend on them to run their businesses. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to keep these systems reliable at scale.
The role combines building and operating. You’ll write the software, automation and product changes that make our databases more reliable, including changes to the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases where reliability calls for it. You’ll also be on call for our highest-SLA customers and handle the operational work that comes with it. You’ll bring a production mindset to product engineering and engineering rigor to reliability, and you’ll set technical direction across squads.
What You’ll Do
Build reliability into the product.
Write production code in our services, tooling and the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases that makes our databases more resilient, self-healing and scalable as demand grows quickly.
Build automation and platform tooling
that removes toil and scales our reliability practices across regions and cloud providers.
Lead technical design.
Author design docs, review others’ designs and PRs, and shape feature design so it’s scalable and operable from day one.
Own the SLO framework.
Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models. Use SLO burn and incident learnings to find and fix the causes of failure in the systems themselves.
Improve observability and alerting
so we find problems before customers do, and so escalations are actionable rather than noisy.
Be on call for our highest-SLA customers.
Act as a technical escalation point for complex customer environments. Lead customer-impacting incident response, including customer bridge calls when needed, and write blameless post-incident reviews that lead to engineering fixes.
Handle the operational work that comes from on-call.
This includes investigating customer escalations, following up on incident actions, tuning capacity and configuration, and turning recurring issues into permanent fixes or automation.
Multiply the team.
Mentor engineers, teach reliability practices that teams adopt early in development, and work with engineering leadership on roadmaps and product strategy.
We highly value those who are intellectually curious, who default to transparency, possess a high bias towards action, and who are also kind (this is important!)
On-Call
Weekday on-call is 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, split between North America and Europe so you cover your local working hours. Weekends are covered by a separate 24-hour rotation. You’ll take a weekend roughly once every six to eight weeks.
What We’re Looking For:
8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building and owning distributed systems in production.
Strong production software skills, ideally in at least one object-oriented language. You write clean, tested code and can make targeted changes in large open-source codebases you didn’t write.
Deep understanding of distributed systems: performance, scaling and failure modes. You can reason about how a system will break before it does.
Experience running multi-tenant systems at scale on Kubernetes in AWS, GCP or Azure, with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm or Jsonnet.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing SLOs.
Experience being on call for production systems. You troubleshoot calmly and methodically under pressure, and you’ve taken part in blameless incident response and written high-quality post-incident reviews.
Staff-level technical leadership: driving cross-team projects, setting technical direction and making the engineers around you better.
Working knowledge of Linux internals, networking and cloud storage.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, Prometheus or other observability and time-series databases.
Open-source contributions.
Customer reliability engineering (CRE) or customer-facing escalation experience.
