How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring a Senior Autonomy Engineer focused on SLAM & Navigation to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between classical spatial geometry and next-generation AI. You will lead the design and development of robust state estimation, long-term mapping, and localisation loops, with a specific focus on integrating modern machine learning techniques and foundation geometry models into our core navigation stack. Your work will ensure our robots possess rock-solid spatial awareness and execute highly reliable trajectories over extended deployments in complex, real-world environments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and scale robust SLAM pipelines that maintain highly accurate localisation and state estimation across dynamic physical spaces.
- Integrate foundation geometry models and modern ML techniques into the localisation loop to enhance traditional spatial tracking, data association, and visual odometry.
- Architect and maintain robust long-term mapping systems that enable robots to autonomously update, manage, and scale spatial maps across changing environments over time.
- Build and scale auto-labeling data pipelines that leverage foundation geometry models to generate high-fidelity spatial ground truth for downstream ML training.
- Bridge classical geometry with deep learning architectures, building hybrid systems that map raw sensor data into globally consistent metric trajectories.
- Deploy and benchmark spatial AI software directly on physical robot hardware, ensuring deterministic, ultra-low latency execution on edge compute.
- Translate cutting-edge spatial AI research into production reality, continuously evaluating breakthroughs in geometric learning to guide our navigation roadmap.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Deep expertise in classical SLAM and multi-view geometry, including extensive hands-on experience with state estimation, visual/LiDAR odometry, and multi-sensor fusion.
- Experience handling backend map optimization and solving the unique structural challenges associated with long-term mapping in large or changing physical environments.
- Practical experience applying modern ML to geometric problems, with exposure to utilizing or adapting newer foundation geometry models.
- Proven ability to build scalable data pipelines or auto-labeling workflows tailored for geometric and spatial datasets.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python, with a track record of writing clean, highly parallelized, production-grade algorithmic code.
- Hands-on experience deploying navigation systems on physical hardware, with a deep understanding of the practical edge constraints of real-world robotics.
- A research-to-production mindset, capable of tearing through the latest CVPR/ICRA papers and figuring out exactly how to make those models run with bulletproof reliability.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).

About Nebius:
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.
Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.
Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.
About Tavily
We're building the search engine for AI agents. Our API powers agentic applications and real-time reasoning by connecting LLMs to high-quality, trustworthy web content. We work with some of the most innovative teams in AI — from startups shaping the ecosystem to enterprises deploying AI at scale.
The Team
Forward Deployed Engineering owns how Tavily shows up technically in the field. The team sits at the intersection of customers, Product, Engineering, Sales, Partnerships, and Customer Success.
The Enterprise FDE motion focuses on Tavily’s highest-value customers and strategic enterprise opportunities — from technical discovery and solution design through proof of concept, production rollout, adoption, and expansion.
The role
This is a full-time, on-site role based in our New York office.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, Enterprise, you’ll work directly with Tavily’s largest and most strategic customers to design, prototype, and deploy production-grade AI systems powered by Tavily’s API. You’ll own the technical relationship across the customer lifecycle, helping enterprise teams move from early use case exploration to deployed, scalable agentic applications.
You’ll be deeply hands-on: building RAG pipelines, agent workflows, evaluation loops, reference architectures, and custom integrations alongside customer teams. You’ll also serve as a critical bridge between the field and our Product and Engineering teams, translating enterprise needs into roadmap signal.
Your responsibilities will include:
Work directly with enterprise customers to understand their AI use cases, technical architecture, success criteria, and deployment requirements.
Lead technical discovery and solution design during pre-sales and expansion conversations.
Scope, build, and deliver proofs of concept that demonstrate clear business and technical value.
Design and implement production-ready integrations using Tavily’s API, including RAG pipelines, agent workflows, internal tools, and industry-specific GenAI applications.
Partner with customer engineering, data, product, and AI teams to move use cases from prototype to production.
Monitor customer API usage patterns and recommend improvements to increase reliability, latency, coverage, and overall value.
Translate recurring customer needs, blockers, and technical patterns into clear product and roadmap input.
Create reusable enterprise assets, including reference architectures, integration templates, deployment guides, demo environments, and technical documentation.
Represent Tavily in customer architecture reviews, executive technical conversations, implementation check-ins, and post-deployment reviews.
Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering to drive adoption, retention, and expansion across strategic accounts.
We expect you to have:
5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in a customer-facing technical role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Technical Consultant.
Strong hands-on engineering ability, especially with Python, APIs, backend systems, and production software development.
Experience building with LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, agent architectures, context engineering, and modern AI application stacks.
Experience working with enterprise customers, including technical discovery, POCs, solution design, stakeholder management, and production rollout.
Strong understanding of how enterprises evaluate, deploy, secure, and scale AI systems.
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and executive stakeholders, including engineering leaders, product teams, AI teams, and technical decision-makers.
High autonomy, strong ownership, and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear recommendations.
Based in New York City, or willing to relocate.
It will be an added bonus if you have:
Experience working with major agent or LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, or CrewAI.
Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, Qdrant, or similar systems.
Experience with enterprise AI use cases in financial services, legal, consulting, enterprise SaaS, sales, marketing, or internal knowledge management.
Track record helping large customers move from POC to production.
Experience building internal tools, technical playbooks, demos, or reusable customer-facing assets.
Prior experience at a high-growth AI infrastructure, developer tools, or enterprise SaaS company.

At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on their product, not infrastructure.
Unlike complex hyperscalers or ephemeral edge/serverless solutions, Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability, allowing teams to launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. Whether you're building LLM-powered applications, scalable SaaS products, or async processing pipelines, Render empowers teams to move fast and scale confidently from MVP to millions of users.
Our platform is trusted by over 7 million developers worldwide and continues to grow rapidly. In February 2026, we raised an additional $100M in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $260M, to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive—designed for the speed of modern AI development.
We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you.
APPLYING TO RENDER
We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team.
We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.
Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.
In order to deliver Render to our users, we must first provide the best internal developer platform for engineers to move fast, confidently, reliably, and securely along paved paths with the right set of tools, observability and guardrails. As Engineering Manager for the newly formed Platform team, you’ll lead a growing group of talented engineers — both established team members and future hires — who are energized by the opportunity to build this space alongside you.
Together, you will modernize and bring Render's internal developer platform and shared production infrastructure (observability, CI/CD, developer environments, storage, and more) from good to great. Because the landscape we operate in is evolving rapidly, we build infrastructure that is modular and adaptable, able to support a product direction that is itself responding to a fast-moving market without over-indexing on any single bet. This team will have tremendous impact; unlike most infrastructure teams that build for internal consumers, our infrastructure is the product. Not only will you be enhancing the velocity and impact of your fellow Render engineers, but the 4.5 million developers using our platform as well.
This role blends strong technical leadership with product thinking: you’ll partner closely with other engineering teams as well as product managers to translate user needs into high-quality, scalable systems that developers rely on every day. You’ll be responsible for guiding technical direction, developing engineers, and ensuring the team ships meaningful improvements quickly while maintaining the high standards that define Render’s platform. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering background, a deep sense of ownership, and a passion for building products that developers love.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and grow a team of platform engineers, supporting their development through mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance.
- Drive execution on key product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with high standards of reliability and quality.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering practices and team processes.
- Engage deeply in technical discussions, guiding system design decisions and helping the team navigate architectural tradeoffs.
- Stay up to date with relevant industry trends, emerging tools, and developer practices that will inform future team learning and opportunities for investment.
- Help the team break down complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver value quickly while supporting long-term platform evolution.
- Ensure teams maintain a strong understanding of the developer experience and reliability, security, and velocity impact of the features they build.
- Partner closely with other teams like Runtime, Security, and Product to understand needs, align priorities, and ensure delivery of impactful features and solutions through thoughtful technical solutions and product roadmaps.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years as an Engineer on an Infrastructure or similarly shaped team shipping products or features for other developers.
- 4+ years of experience managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage deeply in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs.
- Ability to translate engineering goals and user needs into roadmaps and shipped features.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for both team outcomes and long-term system health.
- Experience improving Reliability and/or Developer Experience through tooling, processes, and team practices.
- Deep experience with open source technologies supporting an internal platform tool or cluster, build & deployment systems, CI/CD, observability, and/or configuration management.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Background working on highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
- Experience on teams managing large fleets of developer environments, sandboxes, or testing ecosystems.
- Experience building platforms and/or products used directly by developers.
If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need.
BENEFITS
- 4 weeks of paid vacation.
- 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.
- Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.
- 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs and HSAs are available as well.
