ABOUT BASETEN
Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F https://www.baseten.co/blog/announcing-our-series-f/, led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products.
THE ROLE
This role sits at the applied end of our post-training research efforts. You will work directly with stakeholders from the world’s fastest-growing AI companies to post-train open-source models that outperform frontier closed models on their specialised tasks. Your day-to-day is finding creative ways to extract signal from complex, domain-specific datasets and building the reward functions, environments, eval harnesses, and training pipelines that turn that signal into better models. The models you train ship to production and reach millions of users.
We are looking for people with hands-on LLM fine-tuning and RL experience. Researchers who are excited by the prospect of shipping models into production, who can translate a customer's domain-specific requirements into an effective training curriculum, and who know when to be rigorous and when to iterate fast.
RECENT RESEARCH
- Dense, on-policy or both? https://www.baseten.co/research/dense-on-policy-or-both/
- Repeated kv cache for long-running agents https://www.baseten.co/research/repeated-kv-cache-for-long-running-agents/
- Distillation without the dark – replicating black-box on-policy distillation on Baseten https://www.baseten.co/research/distillation-without-the-dark/
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and run post-training pipelines: SFT, GRPO, DPO, RLVR, reward function engineering, and synthetic data generation.
- Build task-specific training environments and evals tailored to customer domains like healthcare, code generation, and legal, spanning multi-turn tool use, sandboxed execution, and agentic workflows.
- Work directly with customers to translate production data into training signal, designing reward loops from real usage patterns and handling distribution shift.
- Run and analyze training experiments end-to-end: diagnose reward hacking, importance sampling drift, and advantage estimation instabilities.
- Publish findings at top venues and contribute to Baseten's open-source training libraries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience training LLMs with reinforcement learning — demonstrated understanding of GRPO or PPO beyond recipe-level reproduction, including group advantage computation, clipped objectives, and KL penalty design
- Strong intuition for reward engineering: the ability to distinguish between a reward that trains effectively and one that will exploit at scale
- Experience building multi-turn agent environments with tool use, not limited to single-turn question-answering setups
- Comfort working across the full pipeline from dataset construction through training, evaluation, and deployment
- Experience with production ML systems. Preference for candidates who have closed a training–inference loop where production data feeds back into model improvement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with RL training frameworks
- Publications at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, focused on RL for LLMs, reward modeling, or alignment
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.
Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI! If you are a motivated individual with a passion for machine learning and a desire to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.
At Baseten, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable law (by example, the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, where applicable).

Lead improvements to ticket classification, queue design, backlog management, and skills-based routing to help Support scale

Own the lifecycle of systems changes, including requirements, design, testing, rollout, communication, and post-launch monitoring

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
3+ years of experience as a Zendesk administrator or Business Systems Analyst supporting a customer or product support organization
Deep hands-on experience with Zendesk workflows, routing, automations, business rules, queue architecture, and channel configuration, plus hands-on experience configuring Decagon and integrating it with Zendesk
Experience administering or supporting multiple tools across a support ecosystem, and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Experience leading systems changes independently or in partnership with Engineering, IT, Security, or Analytics
Strong communication skills, ownership, and sound judgment, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining a high bar for quality, documentation, and execution
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Zendesk Administrator certification
Experience configuring skills-based routing, intelligent routing, or classification
Experience with Zendesk Copilot, agent assist, or other AI-powered support tooling
Admin experience with Sprinklr, Gainsight, MaestroQA, Assembled, or Salesforce
Experience with APIs, webhooks, custom Zendesk apps, or scripting, plus SQL or analytics tools to evaluate workflow and tooling performance

An overview of this role
As a Senior CX Platform Engineer, you'll help GitLab's Customer Experience (CX) teams hand real work to artificial intelligence (AI). You'll use Claude Code and GitLab Duo Agent Platform as your default development tools, designing agentic workflows and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers with production testing, security, and shared ownership. This is a software engineering role, not ticket-taking internal IT, AI evangelism disconnected from shipped code, or customer-billable Professional Services delivery.
What you'll do
Use Claude Code, GitLab Duo, and other coding agents as your primary development environment for planning, implementation, refactoring, testing, reviews, and documentation. Run multiple agents in parallel on well-scoped tasks, critically review their output, and own every line that reaches production.
Build and maintain the team's agent harness, including shared AGENTS.md conventions, skills, slash commands, hooks, subagent definitions, and continuous integration checks. Measure and share what works, publish reusable patterns, and retire those that don't.
Ship agents and multi-step workflows for account research, success planning, scoping, status reporting, and customer onboarding. Package them as skills and plugins for non-engineers using Claude, Claude in Slack, and GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
Build MCP servers and connectors for governed access to GitLab, Salesforce, Gainsight, Kantata, Thought Industries, Gong, Snowflake, and other enterprise systems. Add evaluations, tracing, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints to keep internal and customer-facing agents measurable, auditable, and safe with customer data.
Evolve the CX Application Platform's gateway, Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, including Elastic Container Service (ECS), Relational Database Service (RDS), and Lambda, Terraform configuration, application scaffold, and deployment path. Own applications such as PS Compass, Congregate, and GitLab University and its integrations, documenting build-versus-buy and consolidate-or-sunset decisions.
Ship production-quality Python and TypeScript through GitLab continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), with tests, observability, security review, and runbooks. Design every application for handoff, with documentation, monitoring, and shared ownership.
Prototype with Customer Success, Digital Success, Professional Services, Education Services, and Training in days, not quarters. Help CX team members bring their own applications to production, and turn field learning into reusable reference implementations, development paths, and enablement.
Contribute upstream to GitLab and share product feedback with Product and Engineering. Mentor engineers and non-engineers on agentic development and raise the team's code review bar.
What you'll bring
Experience building and operating production software, owning multi-quarter work from ambiguity to production, choosing reusable platform solutions over one-off customization where appropriate, and designing for handoff.
Daily, hands-on use of coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitLab Duo, or similar on production work. You can show how they've changed what you ship and how you maintain quality.
Experience building with large language models (LLMs) beyond chat, including tool use, MCP servers, agent loops, context and retrieval design, prompt and workflow design, and evaluations.
Strong Python skills with FastAPI or Flask and TypeScript skills with Vue or React, including application programming interface (API) design, authentication, authorization, and secure handling of customer and business data.
Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, RDS, and Lambda, Terraform, Docker, and applications running behind single sign-on (SSO), such as Okta.
Experience integrating enterprise systems through Representational State Transfer (REST) and GraphQL APIs, and fluency with Git, merge requests, and CI/CD.
Experience translating non-engineering stakeholders' workflows into technical plans and writing clear asynchronous design documents, decision records, and enablement materials. You align with GitLab's values and are willing to use GitLab for your own work.
Optional experience includes agent harness customization; the GitLab Development Kit, Duo Agent Platform custom agents and flows, or AI Catalog publishing; enterprise agent governance and data controls; customer success, professional services, or learning platforms such as Salesforce, Gainsight, Kantata, or Thought Industries; professional services economics and customer success metrics; Snowflake or similar warehouses; and technical writing, talks, or open source contributions on agentic development.
We welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; you don't need to meet every nice-to-have to apply.
About the team
CX Platform Engineering builds and runs CX Applications for Customer Success, Digital Success, Professional Services, Education Services, and Training. We own the CX Application Platform's gateway and infrastructure alongside our application portfolio: GitLab University, the Foundational Onboarding Agent in GitLab Duo Agent Platform, Congregate, PS Compass, and Customer Wins. We build the first version with the people doing the work, turn what we learn into a reusable pattern, then hand it off so it runs without us. We reward leverage, not heroics, and don't leave tools dependent on one person.

About the role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and evolve product capabilities while solving high-scope backend problems and influencing the technical and product direction of our teams. You will move beyond "assigned work" to actively improve the quality, reliability, and performance of our systems. You will work across product, frontend, infrastructure, data, and security boundaries, making sound architectural trade-offs, communicating complex ideas clearly in an asynchronous environment, and helping define the standards for a high-scale, global product.
Why you’ll love this role
High Impact:
You aren't just shipping features; you are shaping the architecture of a global platform used by millions.
Technical Agency:
You will influence team objectives, technical direction, and long-range goals, helping us solve problems of high scope and complexity.
Innovative Culture:
You will get to experiment with and integrate agentic AI into production engineering workflows, moving beyond simple prompt engineering to build resilient, AI-assisted systems.
Autonomy:
You will thrive in our remote-first, asynchronous organization, where clear written communication and self-direction are the pillars of success.
User-Centric Collaboration:
You’ll partner closely with PMs and designers to shape requirements, ensuring every technical decision delivers genuine value to our users.
What you’ll do
Drive Technical Direction:
Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance, making pragmatic choices between modular-monolith code, shared components, or independently operated services.
Raise the Bar:
Advocate for product quality, security, availability, and performance. You will define backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness.
Mentor & Lead:
Mentor associate and intermediate engineers, remove technical blockers, and improve team delivery practices through code and design reviews.
Operational Excellence:
Diagnose and prevent performance/reliability issues at scale. Participate in incident response and act as a technical owner where appropriate.
AI Integration:
Use AI in production engineering work to improve outcomes, evaluate its effectiveness, and coach others on responsible, high-judgment use.
What you’ll bring
Deep Backend Expertise:
A strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning in a complex product or service environment.
Adaptability:
Proficiency in modern backend languages and a deep understanding of systems programming. We value the ability to learn and adapt over mastery of a single language.
Architectural Judgment:
Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
Influence:
Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, and clear written communication, effectively bridging the gap between product needs and technical reality.
Agentic AI Expertise:
Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production—moving beyond prompt engineering to architecting loops, tool-use, and error-handling strategies that ensure reliability at scale.

An overview of this role
As the Senior Director, Global Subject Matter Expertise (SME) Solutions Architecture, you will build and lead GitLab's Subject Matter Expert organization: three regional teams in AMER, EMEA and APJ, each covering Security & Compliance, Platform, Core DevSecOps, and AI & Competitive. This team is the depth layer of GitLab's technical selling model. It wins the most complex opportunities, scales product expertise into the Account SA team, and turns field insight into product direction.
This is a leader of leaders role. You will manage three regional SME Managers, not individual contributors, and develop them as leaders in their own right. The SME organization is new, so we are looking for a transformational leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds structure where none exists, and has a track record of standing up high-performing technical teams in fast-growing, evolving businesses.
You will work as a peer to GitLab's regional Solutions Architecture Senior Directors and partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Product Marketing and Sales Operations. Together you will make sure GitLab brings the right depth to the right opportunities, and that what the field learns shapes what GitLab builds next.
What you'll do
Set the strategy, operating model and global standards for the SME organization, aligned to the VP Global SA and GitLab's go-to-market plan.
Build the resourcing model from product-level bookings and consumption targets. Size each product group by region based on where the plan needs specialist coverage.
Act as the field's senior partner to Product Management and Engineering. Run a structured feedback loop that shapes roadmap, launch readiness and early-access programs.
Hire, mentor and develop regional SME Managers and, through them, the full global team.
Own the engagement model with the regional SA Senior Directors, Post-Sales SAs and Customer Success: triage rules, coverage thresholds, the closed-won handoff to Post-Sales SAs, and escalation paths.
Create and improve upon the processes, metrics and KPIs for SME-led technical evaluations, workshops, demos and Proofs of Value.
Partner with CRO staff, regional sales leaders and AVPs on product-category performance, forecast risk and competitive strategy.
Partner with Enablement to drive field readiness for new product launches with Product Marketing and Enablement, including Duo Agent Platform, security and platform offerings.
Build strong relationships with key customers at the technical sponsor and executive level.
Use AI to change how the team works, including deal research, demo creation, PoV automation and knowledge sharing.
Drive organizational transformation by finding gaps early, building structure where none exists, and leading change without waiting for top-down direction.
What you'll bring
5+ years second-line leadership experience (managing managers) in Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering or a technical specialist organization.
Experience building or scaling a specialist, overlay or global SA team in enterprise SaaS, DevSecOps, security or developer tools.
A record of tying technical-team design to bookings and consumption outcomes, with the data to show it.
The ability to lead through ambiguity and rapid organizational change, bringing clarity and direction while strategy is still forming.
Strong relationships with Product and Engineering leaders, and a history of shaping roadmap from field insight.
Fluency across the software development lifecycle, application security (SAST, DAST, SCA), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes and AI-assisted development, including LLM evaluation and production deployment patterns.
Executive presence with technical practitioners, managers and C-level stakeholders.
Proven ability to partner across Sales, Partners, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success and Professional Services.
A self-starting, entrepreneurial approach. You don't wait for a playbook; you write it.
How you'll be measured
Global product-category commit attainment and consumption growth.
Time from technical win to first workload in customer’s production environment on SME-engaged opportunities compared with non-engaged opportunities.
SME coverage and engagement speed on the top 10% of opportunities.
Account Team capability lift: fewer escalations and more deals handled without an SME over time.
Product impact: field sentiment on the product feedback process along with field-sourced requirements adopted into the roadmap.
Team health: hiring against plan, manager development, engagement and retention.
About the team
The Subject Matter Expertise (SME) organization is part of GitLab's Solutions Architecture team, a trusted technical partner for the field. SMEs bring the deepest product expertise to GitLab's most complex opportunities and carry customer feedback into conversations about product direction, enablement and value messaging. The team is distributed and all-remote, and relies on clear communication, strong judgment and shared operating practices across regions.

We are looking for an experienced B2B acquisition marketer with deep digital expertise to drive new mortgage brokers into the OneDome Growth Partners network.
This is a cross-channel role where you will be responsible for identifying, reaching, and converting mortgage brokers primarily through performance digital channels, while also amplifying impact through PR, events, and referral initiatives.
Reporting into the Head of Partner Advocacy & Growth, you will be the chief digital evangelist of the Growth Partners value proposition – using paid media, SEO, email, and automation to drive a predictable, scalable pipeline of new broker partners.
Key Responsibilities
Digital-First Broker Acquisition Strategy
Design and execute a multi-channel acquisition plan to drive a steady pipeline of new mortgage broker partners.
Own and optimise the full funnel – from awareness through to application.
Develop a referral initiative that includes digital tracking, automated incentives, and broker-friendly sharing tools.
Performance Marketing & Optimisation
Manage acquisition budgets with a CPA focus, continuously testing ad creative, landing pages, audience segments, and offers.
Implement retargeting campaigns to nurture brokers who have shown interest but not yet joined.
Work with analytics teams to set up conversion tracking.
Run regular A/B tests on messaging through deep understanding of our value proposition
Test channel mix to improve conversion rates.
Channel & Campaign Integration
Work closely with the PR team to amplify trade media coverage – using earned media as fuel for paid and owned campaigns.
Partner with the Events Manager to create hybrid event strategies: identifying where to be seen and how to maximise our presence.
Spend time with internal partnership and sales teams to map the broker’s digital journey from first click to first completed application.
Own the Growth Partners website landing pages for acquisition, optimising for SEO and conversion (CRO).
Develop a compelling narrative around the Growth Partners community and create acquisition-focused digital assets and content to drive engagement
Performance Reporting & Optimisation
Track, measure, and report on digital acquisition KPIs: new broker sign-ups, CPA, CTR, conversion rate (landing page to application), ROI by channel, and referral conversion rates.
Produce weekly dashboards for the Head of Partner Advocacy & Growth, making data-backed recommendations to reallocate spend.
Feed digital learnings back into the broader growth strategy to continuously improve broker acquisition efficiency.
Key Skills and Experience
5+ years of B2B marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a digital marketing or performance marketing role.
Proven track record of growing memberships or acquiring partners preferably in a professional services environment.
Hands-on experience with: Google Analytics, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, email marketing platforms and content management tools.
Demonstrable success in creating innovative acquisition campaigns across multiple channels.
You are digitally obsessive and commercially savvy: You love data and can model LTV:CAC and argue for incremental budget based on channel performance.
A collaborative operator, you’ll enjoy working as part of a team whilst being equally at home leading a solo project.

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a Production focused Project Manager who is organized, communicative, and relentlessly detail-oriented. Someone who brings structure and clarity to creative and print production projects and keeps designers, vendors, and stakeholders aligned from brief through delivery. You are a natural coordinator who ensures nothing falls through the cracks: timelines are tracked, approvals are documented, and stakeholders always know where things stand.
This role sits within the Experiential Marketing Team and focuses on the production of printed materials, graphics, video, and other marketing collateral, with event and campaign collateral as the primary area of ownership.
