- Think Like a Platform: You possess strong, well-reasoned opinions on what "good" design looks like and aren't afraid to defend your vision to both developers and the C-suite.

An overview of this role
The Trusted Agentic Development team sits within GitLab's Developer Experience group and builds the platforms our engineers rely on every day. GitLab engineers increasingly build software with artificial intelligence agents. Agents can generate code and tests in seconds, but they can also produce passing test suites for software that doesn't work as intended. As a Senior Backend Engineer, Trusted Agentic Development, you'll own the technical thesis for closing that validation gap and build the early proof yourself. You'll rethink what validation means when the author is an agent and make the feedback loop fast, automatic, and trustworthy enough that teams choose to adopt it.
Validation that confirms agent-generated code does what was intended, so a passing suite means a working feature and not just a satisfied proxy.
Mid-loop feedback that helps an agent self-correct toward working software instead of green assertions.
Language-aware approaches under one shared model of what "trusted" means, starting with Rust, Ruby, and Go, while allowing the right technique to differ by language.
Real measurement of whether engineers trust and adopt the path, fed straight back into the platform.
What you’ll do
Own the technical thesis for how GitLab validates software when an agent is the author, and turn it into an architecture the team can build against.
Prototype the hard parts by building early versions of feedback mechanisms that catch the gap between passing tests and working software, proving what works before the team scales it.
Develop approaches for GitLab's primary stacks, starting with Rust, Ruby, and Go, under one shared definition of "trusted," while allowing the right technique to differ by language.
Design the mid-loop feedback an agent needs to self-correct toward working software rather than green assertions, and build the systems that deliver it.
Collaborate with engineering teams to adopt these approaches, measure adoption, engineer trust, and validation quality, and use those findings to improve the platform.
Set technical direction the team can build on, review designs, and help teammates grow their technical judgment.
Take part in on-call or operational support where your team’s ownership model requires it.
What you’ll bring
Deep, current, hands-on experience building real software with artificial intelligence agents, ideally across more than one language, and a clear understanding of why agent output can pass tests yet fail in production.
A strong point of view on the validation gap and concrete ideas for closing it, backed by approaches you've built or tried.
Experience designing distributed systems designed to run on Kubernetes first.
The technical range to design systems rather than tune a single framework, and the judgment to know when a solution should be general or language-specific.
You prototype to learn, and you ship.
The ability to influence engineers across an organization without formal authority through working code and sound reasoning.
Strong written communication in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
Alignment with GitLab's values, especially collaboration, iteration, and transparency.
This isn't a quality assurance or test automation role. We aren't looking for depth in a particular testing framework. We're looking for someone who has built with agents, experienced the validation gap firsthand, and wants to solve it.
About the team
The Trusted Agentic Development team is part of GitLab's Developer Experience group. We build platforms and practices that help GitLab engineers validate agent-generated software with confidence. We work across engineering teams and programming languages to understand how people use agents, test new approaches in real workflows, and create a shared model of trusted agentic development that teams choose to adopt.

- Translate functional and technical requirements into ClickUp solutions for standard use cases under the guidance of more senior TAMs when needed.
- Guide customers through setup, integrations, and change management fundamentals, escalating complex scenarios appropriately.
- Use AI-assisted workflows where appropriate to prepare for discovery, summarize implementation decisions, and improve the speed and quality of customer follow-up.
Account Health Management
- Monitor health for your book of business, including utilization, key feature adoption, and champion/stakeholder engagement.
- Execute standard adoption plays and account review cadences to maintain or improve health, leveraging existing playbooks and frameworks.
- Identify risks early and partner with senior TAMs and account teams to build and execute recovery plans.
- Run recurring meetings with your accounts, sharing usage summaries, recommended next steps, and capturing follow-ups.
- Connect AI adoption, automation usage, and workflow improvements to measurable customer outcomes such as efficiency gains, stakeholder adoption, and expansion signals.
Workflow Mapping (IER Framework)
- Conduct Intake → Execution → Reporting (IER) cycles for core customer workflows using established discovery guides and templates.
- Recommend optimizations based on documented best practices and apply workflow templates to support scale and consistency.
- Maintain clear documentation of customer workflows, data models, and configuration decisions following team standards.

- Provide training and consultation on how to use existing AI and automation patterns; escalate novel or complex use cases to senior TAMs or specialists.
- Track and report AI usage and credit consumption against plan, surfacing straightforward opportunities to deepen adoption.
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, usefulness, and business relevance before sharing recommendations or enabling them in customer workflows.
- Help customers move from feature awareness to practical workflow transformation by identifying where AI can remove manual work, improve reporting quality, or speed execution in repeatable ways.
Customer Success & Expansion
- Serve as the technical partner for assigned accounts, connecting usage to business value using established value frameworks and artifacts.
- Identify expansion signals (e.g., usage patterns, feature interest) and pass qualified leads and insights to the account team for follow-up.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to support renewals, expansions, and AI upsells, aligning your work to the broader account strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with account teams, Product, and Services to maintain alignment between delivery and success for your accounts.
- Share customer feedback and insights to improve delivery and customer experience, focusing on clear problem statements and reproducible examples.
- Collaborate with more senior TAMs and internal stakeholders on complex initiatives, contributing execution and customer context.
CORE SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Technical Acumen
Solid understanding of ClickUp platform capabilities, automation logic, integrations, and AI Agent functionality, with a focus on applying documented solutions to customer use cases. Learns and adopts new features and patterns quickly.
AI Expertise
Uses AI and Agents as a daily multiplier, not just an area of awareness. Comfortable with generative AI concepts, prompt design, and automation frameworks, and able to show examples of AI improving work quality, speed, or consistency in a customer-facing environment. Able to implement standard AI use cases and identify when to bring in senior partners for more complex or novel scenarios.
Consultative Discovery
Strong at workflow analysis for core, well-understood processes. Uses structured discovery guides to identify friction points and map customer needs into ClickUp using existing best practices.
Project & Program Management
Strong project and time management for your account load. Able to juggle multiple accounts and workstreams with regular check-ins and guidance from your manager or senior TAMs.
Data & Reporting
Comfortable using dashboards and metrics to communicate health, adoption, and ROI at the account level. Interprets usage data to support clear, actionable recommendations within established frameworks.

Executive presence and strong communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, expectation setting, and follow-through. Builds trust with customer stakeholders by reliably executing agreed plans.
Account Ownership
Accountable for day-to-day execution for your book of business: proactive in follow-through, organized, and focused on achieving measurable outcomes while escalating higher-risk or highly strategic decisions.
Collaboration & Influence
Works cross-functionally with account teams, Product, and Sales to align on outcomes. Influences through clear data, customer stories, and consistent execution, while relying on senior leaders for major strategic decisions and escalations.
AI-NATIVE CANDIDATE EXPECTATIONS:
- Can demonstrate examples of using AI tools, prompts, automations, or agent-assisted workflows to improve personal productivity, customer delivery quality, or workflow outcomes.
- Can speak concretely about where AI added value, where human judgment was still required, and how success was measured.
- For this level, we are looking for evidence of strong applied AI fluency in execution — not necessarily novel model development or highly complex custom agent architecture.
INTERVIEW SIGNAL:
BE PREPARED TO WALK THROUGH HOW YOU USE AI IN YOUR WORK. OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS WILL ASSESS PRACTICAL AI CAPABILITY, INCLUDING HOW YOU APPLY AI TO WORKFLOW ANALYSIS, CUSTOMER EXECUTION, JUDGMENT, AGENTIC WORKFLOWS, AND MEASURABLE OUTCOMES.

Sensor Tower’s digital intelligence platform provides unparalleled insight into market trends, advertising, competitor’s strategies, and consumer/user audience across mobile, web, and gaming. Sensor Tower’s insights are trusted by more than 2,500 enterprises worldwide across tech, retail/commerce, entertainment/media, gaming, consumer packaged goods and finance.
About this role:
At Sensor Tower, we process tens of terabytes of data to power insights used by thousands of customers. We’re looking for curious, motivated engineers who want to grow their skills while helping us build fast, reliable systems that make data easy to access and understand.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, contribute to meaningful features from day one, and learn how large-scale systems are designed, built, and optimized in production.
If you enjoy learning, solving problems, and shipping real software that users rely on, we would love to meet you.
Our Engineering Culture
We believe that "Simplicity is a prerequisite for reliability." We are looking for engineers who align with our core values:
- Simplicity: We avoid over-engineering. We prefer the tools we already have and the most straightforward solutions over "shiny new toys."
- Quality: We write code that is a pleasure to read because we know code is written once but read many times. We don't cut corners, and we polish to a high level before shipping.
- Extreme Ownership: We don't just do the minimum. We expect you to understand the "why" behind your work and own the ultimate goal of fixing problems at their root cause, avoiding temporary band-aids.
- Prioritization: We focus relentlessly on what is important, not just what is urgent.
What you’ll do:
- Improving and building new features for an app market intelligence SaaS platform focused on the SMBs (AppMagic by Sensor Tower).
- Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, implementation, quality polish, and release.
- Work on a variety of tasks, such as parsing, data aggregation, API design, refactoring, and performance optimization.
- Create and optimize complex database queries for data analysis and modification.
- Perform code reviews, and suggest improvements to tools and processes.
Backend stack: Golang, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes.
What we are looking for:
- +3 years of experience with Go (if you have lesser years of experience but have meaningful github contributions and other coding samples, this will be taken into consideration).
- Strong SQL skills (Postgres/ClickHouse). You know when to rely on an ORM and when to write raw SQL, and you're comfortable writing and debugging complex queries.
- Focusing on quality by writing testable code that simplifies debugging and ensures long-term reliability.
- Ability to see the product through the user’s eyes and a passion for product excellence.
- Curiosity & drive: a proactive approach to digging into sources yourself rather than relying on second-hand information, and an eagerness to understand why a project is valuable before you start coding.
- Experience with CI/CD, docker, k8s as a plus.
- Ability to pass technical interview both in Russian & English.
- Hands-on, thoughtful use of AI tools in development.
Fraud warning:
It's common for scammers to create positions that look legitimate on other sites. To ensure your submission is considered, only apply for positions at Sensor Tower through our company website or through posts directly associated with Sensor Tower company profiles on sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, BuiltIn or Hackajob. Should an issue arise that you feel we should be aware of, please contact us. Please provide your resume when applying.
