An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer in GitLab’s Platform Enablement organization, you will help make GitLab easier to deploy, validate, and operate across environments. This team is centered on two major areas: Cloud Native deployment guidance and ephemeral environments.
You’ll help shape GitLab’s next generation of self-managed deployment guidance as Reference Architectures evolve toward a model based on deployment patterns, workload characterization, component requirements, topology guidance, and scaling principles.
You’ll also help improve production-like ephemeral environments so teams can validate changes earlier, test against infrastructure and deployment conditions that more closely reflect real-world operation, and reduce drift between development, CI, and production. This includes shaping the tooling, workflows, and platform contracts that make these environments more consistent, more repeatable, and more useful to engineers building and shipping across GitLab’s different deployment models.
Current projects
Deployment Environments is currently focused on:
Evolving GitLab’s self-managed deployment guidance beyond legacy Reference Architectures into a clear Cloud Native model.
Improving production-like ephemeral environments for earlier, higher-confidence validation.
Supporting a platform model where services declare requirements, operators satisfy them, and shared artifacts work across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed.
What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll:
Build tooling and workflows for cloud-native and self-managed deployment environments.
Contribute to Cloud Native deployment guidance, including component requirements, architecture patterns, topology guidance, and scaling principles.
Improve ephemeral environments that bring validation closer to production reality.
Work across application, infrastructure, and platform boundaries to keep deployment artifacts and environment contracts consistent from development through production.
Partner with related teams on packaging, testing, delivery workflows, and customer-facing deployment guidance.
What you’ll bring
Strong backend engineering experience, ideally with Kubernetes-based systems, distributed applications, or platform engineering
Experience with deployment architecture, environment management, or cloud-native operations
Comfort working at the boundary of developer workflows and production infrastructure
Good systems thinking around service dependencies, deployment patterns, and infrastructure abstraction.
A collaborative, pragmatic approach to building durable platform capabilities
About the team
The Deployment Environments team helps make GitLab easier to deploy and easier to validate across development, CI, GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed. Its work spans Cloud Native deployment guidance, ephemeral environments, and the platform contracts that reduce drift across the software lifecycle.

About You
As Head of Investor Capital and Relations, Middle East, you will operate independently in region with a global reporting line and executive sponsorship, and with the mandate to build the firm's Middle East franchise from first principles: the coverage map, the institutional relationships, the office and, ultimately, the regional team.
This is a builder's role. You will own senior coverage of the region's sovereign wealth funds, government related entities and family offices, lead the office establishment and hub determination between DIFC and ADGM, and coordinate closely with counsel and the firm's government relations workstreams as you build a durable Gulf franchise.

We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data. Under the hood: Go, React, Ember and AI help us ship fast and scale with confidence.

Ownership
You own problems end to end. You move fast, act like an owner, and thrive in ambiguity. You've led complex projects before, whether officially or not, and you're ready to do it again.

You think like a developer using your tools, not just an engineer building them. You care about API design, developer experience, and everything in between.
A healthy skepticism for “the way things are done”

What You’ll Do
Build and evolve
Customer.io
's SDKs across platforms - including Android, iOS, Node, and Go - and the developer tools that support them
Lead SDK initiatives end to end: set technical direction, write the code, manage the release, and own the outcome
Improve SDK delivery infrastructure - CI, automated testing, versioning, publishing, and release processes - so shipping is reliable and low-friction
Partner closely with product and design to turn loosely defined goals into a great developer experience
Participate in an on-call rotation as required, supporting the reliability of the systems you build
Use AI agents to make multi-file changes across unfamiliar codebases and languages by scoping the work, writing the prompt, and verifying the output
Bring strong customer empathy to the role - understanding what the engineers integrating with our SDKs actually need, and occasionally engaging directly with them
What we're looking for
Expert-level competency in at least one established programming language, with strong software design and API design fundamentals
Experience building and evolving mature, production-quality software, with a clear understanding of how systems fit together and how other developers consume them
Exceptional fluency with current LLMs and agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Codex) - using AI to understand unfamiliar codebases, work across languages, and run things in parallel or autonomously
High autonomy in ambiguous environments - you clarify the problem, validate its value, and drive implementation without close direction
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly
Ability to work effectively across multiple languages and stacks; prior experience in every language we support (Swift, Kotlin, Node, Go) is not required
Nice to have: experience building external-facing SDKs, APIs, or developer tools; experience owning CI, testing, versioning, or release infrastructure; or forward-deployed engineering experience.
Compensation & Benefits
We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment. In addition to base salary, this role includes an equity grant in the form of stock options, so you share in the success you help build.

Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more.

About the Role
Fivetran and dbt are building the open data infrastructure that powers AI agents you can trust.
Fivetran is looking for a Senior R&D Software Engineer to join our fast-growing Fivetran AI team. Your data stack was built for humans — but agents are the new primary data consumers, and they have fundamentally different requirements. Agents can’t intuit context; it must be explicitly codified, governed, and traceable. We’re building the governed context layer that solves this problem: Agents Schema, an open standard for storing agent-ready context directly in the customer’s own data warehouse, and Context Builder, the managed service that keeps it filled and fresh.
This role goes well beyond standard engineering. You’ll research emerging techniques in the fast-moving AI landscape and bring real product and market understanding to decide which ideas are worth pursuing — and then you’ll take what you’ve learned and ship it as production software. We’re looking for a true generalist who is willing and able to wear whatever hat the moment calls for: prototyping a new retrieval technique one week, hardening a backend service the next, then doing SRE or QA work when the team needs it. Fivetran AI operates like a startup within Fivetran, and we need engineers who thrive on that range rather than staying in one lane.
Fivetran is the epitome of data-driven development — our engineering team is focused on building a world class product that:
Builds Infrastructure Agents Can Trust
— join our mission to deliver the governed context layer that AI agents depend on: accurate semantic definitions, traceable lineage, data contracts, and auditable history baked in from the start.
Embraces Open Standards
— help build portable, interoperable data infrastructure: Agents Schema, open formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake), MCP-native interfaces, and connector skills that work with any model and any compute.
Scales Without Breaking
— work to make Fivetran AI efficient at agent scale, where unit costs deflate as volume grows and context retrieval is fast, accurate, and cost-controlled.
We emphasize using no-nonsense tools and take great pride in the simplicity and effectiveness of the systems we build. Our back-end is built on Java, Python, Postgres, and Kubernetes, and our front-end is built on React and TypeScript.
This is a full-time hybrid position based out of our New York, NY office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.
Technologies You’ll Use
Python, Java, SQL, dbt, LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini), vector databases, BigQuery / Snowflake / Databricks, MCP protocol, React, TypeScript, Kubernetes
What You’ll Do
Research emerging techniques in retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI, and evaluate what’s actually relevant to Fivetran AI’s roadmap
Prototype new ideas quickly, then take the ones that prove out and turn them into shipped, production-grade features
Build and maintain both back-end and front-end systems for the Fivetran AI product — from Agents Schema pipelines to the Context Catalog UI
Contribute to the AISQL capability: natural language to SQL grounded in dbt metric definitions, executed natively against the warehouse
Take ownership of production reliability: on-call rotation, incident response, and SRE work to keep the platform trustworthy at scale
Write and maintain tests, and do hands-on QA to catch issues before customers do
Use coding agents to automate the repetitive parts of the job, freeing up time for the research and design work that needs a human
Partner with product and design, bringing your own understanding of the AI tooling market to shape what gets built next
Develop software designs and contribute to the technical roadmap for the Fivetran AI platform
Contribute to hiring by participating in the interview process
Skills We’re Looking For
5+ years of programming experience across Python and/or Java, with the ability to move fluidly between back-end and front-end work
Considered a trusted expert in your subject area, capable of executing complex, ambiguous tasks with minimal hand-holding
Comfortable reading AI/ML research and turning promising findings into working prototypes
Strong product and market awareness — able to judge which emerging techniques are worth building versus which are hype
Experience with SQL and data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar)
Genuine willingness to work across the full stack: research, backend, frontend, SRE, and QA, as the team’s needs demand
Writes well-structured, performant code and can dive into unfamiliar codebases to suggest improvements
Experience using coding agents or similar AI tooling to speed up day-to-day engineering work
Analytical mindset to identify gaps in existing systems and design practical, pragmatic improvements
Thrives in a startup-like environment with shifting priorities and a high degree of ownership
Bonus Skills
Experience with LLM-powered applications — RAG pipelines, embeddings, evaluation frameworks, or agent frameworks
Familiarity with semantic layers — dbt, LookML, Sigma, or similar
Experience with the MCP (Model Context Protocol) ecosystem or building AI agent integrations
Background in site reliability engineering — monitoring, alerting, incident response
Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or building data connectors
Experienced working in a cloud environment utilizing AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker
Contributions to open source AI or data projects

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Duo Chat team, focused on Chat Engine, you'll build the core AI capabilities behind GitLab Duo Chat, the natural-language and agentic interface to the GitLab DevSecOps platform. Much of your work will involve building flow components and agentic flows in the Flow Registry, the Python framework built on LangGraph within our Duo Workflow Service that powers agentic chat, and integrating them with the GitLab Rails monolith.
You'll own complex backend features from start to finish across both services. You'll integrate large language models and orchestrate multi-agent flows so customers can work faster and more securely across the software development lifecycle. This work sits where GitLab's core platform meets its AI strategy, and reliability, performance, and answer quality directly shape the customer experience.
What you’ll do
Design and build flow components and agentic flows in the Flow Registry using Python and LangGraph within the Duo Workflow Service. These reusable building blocks power agentic Duo Chat and, increasingly, other AI features across GitLab.
Develop, ship, and maintain backend features for GitLab Duo Chat across the Python Duo Workflow Service and the GitLab Rails monolith in a secure, well-tested, and performant way.
Integrate new generative AI models, providers, tools, and multi-agent orchestration patterns into Duo Chat to expand its capabilities and improve answer quality.
Design, implement, and review GraphQL and Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs) and related monolith logic, including chat entry points, permissions, and foundational-flow registration. Keep contracts with frontend clients and host systems reliable and clear.
Improve debugging, observability, and test coverage using pytest, RSpec, and related frameworks; track and improve latency, error rates, and test coverage so AI-powered chat workflows stay reliable at scale.
Collaborate with Product, User Experience (UX), frontend, and AI specialists to refine requirements and deliver high-quality improvements through iteration.
Document standards, patterns, and learnings with other engineers, raising the bar for safe AI integration and evidence-driven engineering.
Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations to troubleshoot production issues, contribute to root cause analysis, and strengthen resiliency.
What you’ll bring
Significant experience building and maintaining production Python backends, including APIs, data models, and asynchronous or long-running workloads.
Practical experience designing and shipping AI-powered, agentic backend features, including large language model integration, tool or function calling, and multi-agent orchestration. You use sound judgment about large language model limitations and safe use in production.
Working proficiency in Ruby on Rails, or a strong willingness to learn it. Duo Chat integrates deeply with the GitLab monolith for chat entry points, GraphQL, permissions, and flow registration, and most of GitLab's codebase is written in Ruby.
Proficiency designing or extending REST or GraphQL APIs with attention to scalability, maintainability, and backward compatibility.
Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) skills and familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including efficient queries and data modeling.
Ability to find, diagnose, and prevent performance and reliability problems at scale.
Experience solving technical problems of high scope and complexity and advocating for quality, security, and performance improvements across your team.
Openness to learning and collaborating in an async-first, distributed team, applying transferable skills from related technologies or domains. Hands-on experience with agent frameworks such as LangGraph or LangChain is a strong plus.
About the team
We're part of GitLab's AI Engineering organization and own the AI-powered chat experience embedded across the GitLab platform. Chat Engine is the backend-focused team within the Duo Chat group.
We're backend, frontend, and AI specialists working asynchronously across time zones, using issues, merge requests, and documentation as our main collaboration tools. Our focus is to expand generative and agentic AI capabilities, improve the performance and reliability of chat workflows, and strengthen the debugging and testing foundations that let us run AI features safely at scale.
