Location: United States - NY Tri-State Area Only
What the Role Is
Babylist is looking for a hands-on PR & Communications Manager to shape how consumers, media, partners, investors, and prospective leaders understand who we are and where we’re going. You’ll create a proactive communications roadmap that positions Babylist as a category-defining family platform and modern technology company. Connecting product innovation, business growth, partnerships, leadership perspectives, and cultural moments, you’ll tell cohesive stories about how we build and why it matters to modern families. You’ll own consumer and corporate PR, develop distinctive executive points of view, and match the right leaders with high-impact opportunities across press, podcasts, and industry events. You’ll also lead an awards strategy that strengthens credibility and demonstrates Babylist’s momentum.
Who You Are
You've spent 8-10 years in PR or communications
, ideally a mix of in-house and agency (or editorial) time, with enough in-house experience to know what it's like to have real skin in the game.
You're an excellent, independent writer.
You can ghostwrite a leadership LinkedIn post or a founder's Substack essay in someone else's voice.
You think in cohesive narratives, not one-off announcements. You can connect a product launch, company milestone, executive perspective, or partnership to a larger story about where Babylist is headed.
You can tell a human story as well as you can tell a tech or product story, and vice versa. You are able to get into real debates about the right angle for us and are able to see around the corner when it comes to press, PR, and comms.
You're plugged into media, ecommerce, and employer branding trends, and you know how to balance the numbers (reach, coverage quality) with what's actually on-brand.
You're comfortable prepping senior leaders for press and standing next to them when it happens, showroom activations, live press moments, and executive visibility work included.
You have real relationships across digital, print, and broadcast media, and know how to land the right placement, Forbes or NYTimes-caliber, not just any hit.
You work East Coast hours and can travel to NYC on short notice
You don't need to live in New York, but you need to live in the NY tri-state area and be online and available on East Coast time as well as able to travel at a moment's notice.
You're comfortable with a lot of trust and not a lot of hand-holding. This role reports to a manager who wants to delegate real ownership.
You naturally reach for AI in your work. At Babylist, every team uses AI daily. You're already using it to move faster and improve your output, and you stay curious about what's coming next.
How You Will Make An Impact
Build an integrated PR and communications roadmap across leadership, business growth, product and technology innovation, partnerships, social impact, and workplace culture.
Grow consumer press coverage beyond what our agency partners currently drive.
Amplify our work with celebrity, influencer, and social-impact partners, and turn moments like our past high-profile partnerships into real, sustained coverage.
Build a distinctive thought-leadership platform for Babylist executives through ghostwriting, media opportunities, podcasts, and relevant industry stages.
Land targeted executive placements at the outlets and podcasts that actually matter to our category, not a scattershot pitch list.
Manage our external PR and influencer agency partners day to day, and know when their ideas are worth running with.
Own our corporate comms collateral: team and press pages, press releases, leadership presentations.
Show up in person for press moments and showroom activations.
Partner across Product, Data, Insights, Partnerships, Social Impact, and People teams to proactively identify stories and build a consistent communications pipeline.
Build the internal playbooks that let the rest of the company tell our story consistently.
Own Babylist’s awards strategy, using recognition and external validation as proof points for the company’s broader story.
Establish clear measures of impact across awareness, credibility, quality of coverage, executive visibility, and engagement.
Why This Role
Babylist is on an incredible growth trajectory, and this role is critical to ensuring our story keeps pace with the business we’re becoming.
You’ll shape how Babylist is understood and make sure our story reaches the right audiences in the places that matter, from consumers and media to partners, investors, and prospective leaders.
This is a high-visibility role with direct access to senior executives. You’ll help develop their points of view, advise where and how they show up, and translate company priorities into compelling external narratives.
We haven't built a proactive PR function yet. You'd be the one to build it, not maintain someone else's plan.
Babylist has unmatched reach into what's actually happening with new parents, paired with real tech-company scale. Few places let you tell both stories at once.
You'll report to a manager who wants to hand off real ownership: weekly 1:1s, not day-to-day oversight.
You'll have a direct hand in our highest-visibility moments, like celebrity and creator partnerships and executive press, not just supporting them from the sidelines.

Instead, you research the market, identify opportunities within specific verticals, and design a sales strategy that is both high-touch and creative, thereby helping to create the best possible positioning to develop new business for WordPress and VIP.
You’ll be closely working with SDRs as well as have full leverage of our Marketing teams to create compelling outreach and content, but you’ll be generating your own leads alongside that.
You view enterprise customers and their messages as important parts of the web, and you can see how WordPress VIP and Automattic can help them along their journeys. You pride yourself in establishing long-term relationships and doing what’s best for the customer. You enjoy telling stories, doing demos, and giving “the pitch,” and are comfortable talking to CMO’s and CTO’s.
Responsibilities:
Drive significant revenue growth by securing new enterprise clients and expanding existing accounts.
Establish and nurture strategic C-level relationships that position VIP as a critical business partner.
Successfully manage both transactional deals and large multimillion-dollar opportunities.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline information, and drive strategic improvement of forecasting processes.
Develop and execute innovative, vertical-specific sales strategies that accelerate market penetration.
Actively engage in pipeline generation activities, including regular outbound prospecting.
Enhance the product offering by providing valuable customer insights to inform the VIP roadmap.
Elevate WordPress VIP's brand and reputation in the enterprise CMS space through high-impact engagements.
Contribute to a high-performing sales culture by sharing best practices and mentoring team members.
Requirements:
7+ years of enterprise software sales experience, preferably in SaaS or CMS-related technologies.
Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed sales quotas.
Strong understanding of enterprise software, IT landscapes, and content management systems.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Proven experience in solutions-based selling and closing enterprise-level deals.
Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Experience in managing and growing business within named accounts and verticals.
Comfortable working with executive-level prospects, negotiating terms, and reviewing contracts.
Self-motivated with a drive to achieve revenue and growth targets, both individually and as part of the company.
This role requires you to have a deep understanding of the technology and platforms that we run, and be able to communicate effectively with different stakeholders such as engineers and content creators. Moderate travel is required as well.

WordPress doesn’t try to keep its users inside walled gardens, a rare thing in a world that is dangerously moving away from the open web. Instead, WordPress gives them the freedom to build a business website, an online store, or a personal blog – the way they like it. Big sites or small, using the community-run
open source project
or Automattic’s
WordPress.com
, vanilla or customized with hundreds of plugins, WordPress users always get to own and control their data, their expression, and their freedom.
We’re always looking for talented and experienced engineers worldwide, excited to help Automattic’s product ecosystem, and join our mission to make the web a better place.
What have we worked on recently?
AI is at the heart of many
new product developments
and powers a lot of our day-to-day development workflows.
WooCommerce
is the most popular and most flexible e-commerce platform on the web. We're working tirelessly on giving you all the control, while keeping the platform fast and stable.
Gutenberg
is a new block-level editor for WordPress with clean abstractions for users, too, not just developers.
Tumblr
is a microblogging social network where users create, share, and follow what they love.

You care and often obsess over the quality and the details of your work.
Debugging any problem is a fun challenge and not a chore.

You have production experience with several programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms. We mostly use PHP and JavaScript at Automattic, we expect you to be comfortable with the idea of becoming an expert in these languages, even if being one isn't a requirement to apply.
In your mind abstraction is associated as much with cost as it is with value.
You have experience working at scale – it can be on the backend and performance side, or via the complexity of interacting with a multi-million diverse userbase.
Are open and able to travel 3-4 weeks per year to meet up with your teammates in person.

Our customers include the world's leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders in many sectors. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1000+ colleagues in 70+ countries and very few office based roles. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person, in interesting locations around the world, to align on strategy and execution.
The company is founder led, profitable and growing.
We are hiring an
Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT
to expand our reach in mission-critical industries such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics. We are looking for candidates who are accomplished Linux plumbers. If you are someone passionate about Linux, who knows the plumbing of the OS inside and out, who is proficient with distribution packaging, software design, system debugging, and bringing customer's ideas to life, then please keep on reading - this may be a uniquely exciting opportunity for you.
The server edition of Ubuntu is already very widely used in connected devices and industrial PC's. Our newer edition of Ubuntu for IoT, called Ubuntu Core, represents the state of the art in security and resilience for high end appliances and equipment. This career opportunity requires a unique blend of skills. Successful candidates will know Linux well and be proficient coders and scripters. They will have experience of low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware and embedded software development methodologies. They also enjoy the pace of change and diversity of client engagements with driven and ambitious technology entrepreneurs. Competitive, business-focused technologists at heart, they are also dedicated team players that take pride in team and company wins.
We often say that our field engineers have 'the hardest job at Canonical' because customers can ask about any aspect of our solutions and products and expect a thoughtful, well-informed answer. We always want to do the best thing for our partners and customers, regardless of our company interests, and field engineers are the people we trust to ensure that is true.

This role will be based remotely in Japan (preferably in Tokyo or Osaka area)
What your day will look like
Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology

For positions in Japan and Korea, the successful candidates will also be able to speak and write the local language at a professional level.
Additional skills that you might also bring
