We are looking for an engineer with strong experience in machine learning and solid foundations in math and computer science to join our growing Post-Training team at Baseten.
THE ROLE
Custom models are instrumental to the success of Baseten customers. By inference volume, the overwhelming majority of traffic at Baseten is to and from models that have been post-trained in some way, whether that be through reinforcement learning, supervised finetuning, a recent technique from the literature, or an in-house research technique from Baseten. The Post-Training team is responsible for the success of our customers’ post-trained models, and we employ a wide array of techniques to produce models that are more efficient and higher quality than even the biggest closed source models for the customer’s specific needs.
Your role as a research engineer is to build the in-house tooling to support all of this. We care about training a wide spectrum of different model architectures with a variety of techniques efficiently and at scale. At times this involves zooming deep into a particular technical topic, but more often it involves working across the stack as a whole - systems-level concepts like Kubernetes, cgroups, storage systems, and networking topologies, as well as PyTorch distributed tensor computation, and GPU kernels.
The Manifesto: https://labs.baseten.co/manifesto
RECENT RESEARCH
- Dense, on-policy or both? https://www.baseten.co/research/dense-on-policy-or-both/

- Distillation without the dark – replicating black-box on-policy distillation on Baseten https://www.baseten.co/research/distillation-without-the-dark/
We don’t have a rigid set of skills, but here’s some of what we’re looking for:
- A deep understanding of modern ML techniques and tools for training transformers
- Advanced experience in a tensor/array computation library like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, or similar
- A detailed understanding of transformer training parallelism strategies like data parallelism, sharded data parallelism, tensor parallelism, pipeline parallelism, context parallelism
- The experience and knowledge to profile and improve the performance of a distributed GPU program in PyTorch or a similar library
- The ability to perform roofline analysis on a transformer training setup
- A willingness to dive into messy problems, work with researchers, derive specifications by asking important questions, and execute
- Familiarity with HPC and distributed computing platforms like Slurm, Ray, Kubernetes, and Dask
- Familiarity with cluster networking technology like Infiniband, RoCE, GPUDirect
- Solid fundamentals in operating systems concepts like processes, files, kernel drivers, containerization, and networking protocols
- A sense of creativity and willingness to ask difficult questions about our approach, assumptions, and tooling choices
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)

WHO WE ARE
Enterprise at Baseten means the companies with the most to gain from AI and the most complexity in getting there: large digital natives running products at massive scale, and category leaders in software, financial services, healthcare, and beyond. They have the data, the distribution, and the budget. Most are still deciding what to build, what to run themselves, and what it should cost.
That makes this a consultative sale. You'll spend as much time helping a VP of Engineering pressure-test their AI strategy as you will selling against an alternative, mapping use cases, framing build-vs-buy, and giving clear recommendations grounded in what you've seen work at the frontier. Then you'll do the enterprise work: multithreading across a buying committee, navigating security and procurement, and turning a first workload into an eight-figure relationship.
You'll work alongside our founders, forward-deployed engineers, and GTM leadership, in a seat where the playbook is still being written.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own a revenue target end to end, from prospecting and outbounding through closing Tier 1 accounts in your verticals
- Act as a strategic advisor on AI adoption: identify use cases, shape architecture decisions, and lead with clear, opinionated recommendations
- Multithread across large organizations, from the engineers running evals to the executives funding the program to security, legal, and procurement
- Win lighthouse customers that become references for their entire industry
- Partner with forward-deployed engineering on technical evaluations, POCs, and architecture reviews
- Feed signal back to product and engineering. What enterprises need next is a roadmap input we don't get anywhere else
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of enterprise B2B sales experience in technology, ideally infrastructure, API/platform, or developer tooling
- A track record of closing seven- and eight-figure deals by navigating multi-stakeholder buying committees and long, complex cycles
- Demonstrated ability to run a consultative sale. You've helped customers define a strategy, not just evaluate a product
- Strong technical acumen: you can hold your own on model serving, GPU infrastructure, latency, and API architecture
- Experience selling into large digital natives or regulated industries (financial services, healthcare/life sciences, insurance, government)
- Excellent communication and comfort with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment
NICE TO HAVE
- Direct experience selling AI/ML infrastructure, cloud compute, or model deployment platforms
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.

THE ROLE
AI Native is our segment for companies whose core product is AI, from their first model in production through serious scale. You'll be the first person at Baseten to reach many of these founders, and you'll win them early.
This is a high-velocity, high-intensity seat. You're running many early-stage opportunities at once, moving fast with founders who move fast, and going deep enough technically to be useful on day one. If you want a front-row seat to the frontier of AI and the ambition to grow into our largest accounts, this is the seat.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source, close, and grow new business with early-stage AI companies. You own pipeline generation, not just what's handed to you
- Run fast, technical sales cycles with founders and early engineering teams, from first call to first production workload
- Prioritize ruthlessly across a high volume of opportunities and drive each one forward without dropping the thread
- Pull in applied research and engineering when a deal needs depth, and keep everyone moving on your timeline
- Bring the field back to product. You see what early AI teams need before the rest of the market does
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of closing sales experience in a SaaS or infrastructure business, with a record of closing
- Genuine curiosity about open-source models and AI infrastructure. You follow model releases and can hold a real conversation with engineers
- Strong prioritization and project management instincts: you know which deal needs you today and you keep the rest alive
- Comfortable selling to founders and technical buyers who expect substance, not a pitch
- Thrives on intensity, ambiguity, and a fast-paced early-stage environment
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents

THE ROLE
This role sits at the frontier of our research agenda. You will pursue open problems at the intersection of post-training methodology and performant inference, and then collaborate with research engineering to translate findings into production systems.
A meaningful portion of your time will be dedicated to research that deepens our understanding of how models learn, alignment, and architectural efficiency — questions that may not have immediate product application. The remainder will be directed toward research that solves concrete problems for Baseten's platform and customers, who are the fastest growing AI companies in the world like Cursor, Lovable, and Notion.
We are looking for someone with sharp research taste and genuine creative instinct for problem selection. Someone who can identify questions that matter, design clean experiments to answer them, and push the state of the art. The environment here is not theoretical, but rather research that can be validated with eager customers who are serving billions of tokens a second.
The Manifesto: https://labs.baseten.co/manifesto
RECENT RESEARCH
- Towards infinite context windows: neural KV cache compaction https://www.baseten.co/research/towards-infinite-context-windows-neural-kv-cache-compaction/

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and pursue a research agenda spanning both foundational and applied work, with the applied component connected to Baseten's platform and customer needs.
- Design and execute rigorous experiments, frequently at meaningful scale (multi-node, trillion parameter models).
- Work with customers to translate domain-specific requirements into research problems, where relevant to your agenda.
- Publish at top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) and establish Baseten's research presence.
- Collaborate with model performance and training infrastructure teams to bridge research findings and inference production systems.
- Mentor junior researchers and shape the technical direction of the research organization as it grows.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s or PhD research depth in machine learning, with first-author publications at top venues
- Demonstrated ability to move from theory through implementation to empirical results — not exclusively theoretical or exclusively engineering work
- Judgment about problem selection, the ability to distinguish research that advances a metric from research that changes how systems are built
- Willingness to operate in a startup environment where the majority of research informs product decisions, with timelines measured in months rather than years
- Background spanning multiple research areas (e.g., both interpretability and RL, or both systems and training methodology)
- Track record of open-source contributions or community building in ML research
OUR VIEW ON TALENT
Many of the labs that exist today run a credentialist talent model. Concentrate the most already-legible researchers, and assume the concentration compounds. The best researchers in this field are very often not yet legible. Research engineers who have spent years inside a production stack and developed insights no PhD program teaches; PhDs working on the wrong-shaped problem at the right-shaped lab; operators who have been close to real systems long enough to see things credentialed researchers have never had to see. If you don’t have the traditional qualifications and are doing exceptional work, we’d love to chat.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents

ABOUT BASETEN
Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products.
THE ROLE
At Baseten, we are building the global operating system for distributed, heterogeneous AI hardware. We believe that as LLM and multi-modal workloads scale, the network is the computer. We are looking for foundational engineers to lead our GPU Networking efforts, making RDMA a first-class building block in our infrastructure and unlocking the next generation of distributed inference optimizations.
Networking and compute are no longer separate disciplines; they are converging. The massive throughput of H100, B200, and NVL72 architectures enables and demands a new approach where communication is co-optimized alongside computation. We are entering an era where the network is an active accelerator, leveraging smart hardware offloads and direct interconnects to ensure that data movement operates at wire-speed.
In this role, you will go beyond network configuration to architect the software fabric that unifies thousands of GPUs into a cohesive operating system. While you will leverage the best of the open-source ecosystem, you won't be limited by it. Where off-the-shelf solutions stop, you will build from scratch, engineering the primitives required to co-optimize communication and compute for Disaggregated Serving, Wide Expert Parallelism (WideEP), and lightening cold starts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make RDMA First-Class: You will work on integrating RDMA/RoCE/InfiniBand capabilities directly into our inference stack, helping us move beyond TCP/IP to unlock order-of-magnitude improvements in bandwidth and latency.
- Optimize Distributed Inference: You will implement and tune the networking layers necessary for efficient Disaggregated KV Cache Offload and WideEP, ensuring seamless communication across NVLink and InfiniBand for our MoE models.
- Enable Serverless-Grade Startup Speeds for LLMs: You will work deeply with checkpointing and storage mechanisms to enable sub-10-second startup for trillion-parameter models.
- Deep-Dive into Hardware: You will characterize and validate networking performance on bleeding-edge clusters (H100/H200, B200/B300, GB200/300 NVL72), writing the acceptance tests that ensure our hardware delivers peak achievable throughput and minimal latency.
- Build Observability: You will design the tools that let us visualize packet flow, congestion, and effective bandwidth across the GPU interconnects, helping us diagnose complex distributed system behaviors.
- Optimize Kernels: You will work with communication libraries (NCCL, NVSHMEM) and potentially write custom communication kernels to overlap compute and data transfer.
REQUIREMENTS
- You have deep experience with high-performance networking protocols (InfiniBand, RoCE v2) and understand the physics of data movement.
- You are fluent in C++ or Python, with the ability to bridge the gap between high-level logic and hardware. You have a deep understanding of the memory hierarchy in modern NVIDIA architectures (H100/Blackwell) and know how to optimize for it.
- You like going deep. You aren't afraid to dive into TensorRT-LLM source code, write custom C++ / Python bindings, or debug NVLink topology issues.
- You know when to use an off-the-shelf solution and when we need to build a custom solution because the upstream tools (like standard Kubernetes networking) are too slow for our needs.
NICE TO HAVE
- Deep knowledge of NCCL, NVSHMEM, and UCX.
- Experience with Rust for systems-level or performance-critical networking code is a strong plus
- Experience with GPUDirect Storage (GDS) or high-performance filesystems like Weka or 3FS.
- Familiarity with TensorRT-LLM, vLLM, or SGLang.
- Experience running low-level benchmarks to "qualify" new hardware clusters.
THE TEAM
- Bleeding Edge Hardware: We are preparing to bring Blackwell (B200/B300) and then Rubin architectures online. You will be one of the first engineers in the industry optimizing networking for NVL72/GB300 racks.
- We go deep: We operate at every depth. Whether it’s tuning hardware interconnects, writing custom communication kernels, or designing distributed inference strategies, we work across the entire stack to deliver performance that goes far and beyond.
- High Impact: The networking optimizations you build will directly enable features that no one else in the industry has fully mastered yet, like seamless multi-node WideEP and instant model hydration.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
About the Role
Ramp's Mid-Market Customer Activation Managers don't manage accounts — they transform how companies run their finances. This is a role for people who have been inside organizations when change was hard, who speak the language of a CFO, and who already use AI the way surgeons use instruments: not occasionally, not as an experiment, but as the default way they work. You'll own a book of ~45 mid-market customers, responsible for driving genuine workflow transformation — not just onboarding completion
What You'll do
1. Lead mid-market customers through the full transformation journey — from implementation through agentic workflow adoption — with clear accountability for time-to-value and measurable business outcomes
2. Build and own the change management strategy for each account: map stakeholders, diagnose resistance, build internal coalitions, and drive adoption past the finish line
3. Quantify and communicate Ramp's impact in the language CFOs and Controllers care about — close cycle improvement, spend visibility, variance reduction, and ROI — not just product usage metric
4. Run stakeholder management across multiple layers of a customer org, including finance leadership relationships you own independently
5. Use AI tools daily to prepare for customer calls, build materials, synthesize data, identify account risk, and operate at a pace traditional methods can't match
6. Help customers understand and adopt Ramp's agentic finance capabilities — positioning new workflows not as features, but as fundamental changes to how their finance team operates
7. Partner with Account Executives and Technical Consulting to deliver seamless implementations and expand Ramp's footprint within accounts
8. Bring customer insight back to Product — surfacing patterns, gaps, and opportunities from your accounts to shape how Ramp evolves
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of customer-facing experience in customer success, consulting, or implementations with a proven, consistent track record of driving customer outcomes and exceeding goals
- Demonstrated ability to drive workflow adoption inside organizations, navigate real resistance from real stakeholders, and produce measurable results; finance or fintech context is a plus but not required
- AI fluency as a daily habit — you already use AI tools habitually to prep for calls, synthesize information, build customer-facing materials, and automate repetitive tasks; this is how you work, not something you're exploring
- Ability to communicate Ramp's impact in financial terms — walking a controller through the business case for a workflow change, connecting implementation milestones to P&L outcomes, and running executive updates that land with finance leaders
- Technical acumen to hold your own in conversations with Product and Engineering on integrations, APIs, and workflow architecture; credibility in technical conversations earns you a seat at the table with the full customer stakeholder group
- Prior demonstrated success in fast-paced, results-oriented GTM environments, ideally at SaaS or FinTech companies
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills across Sales, Product, Operations, and other GTM teams
Nice to Haves
1. Experience helping customers adopt AI-powered or agentic workflows at scale; understanding of what friction looks like in practice and what makes transformation stick
2. Exposure to FP&A, accounting software ecosystems (NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero), expense management, or CFO-adjacent workflows
3. Demonstrated commercial impact — expansion, retention, or time-to-value outcomes with specific metrics attached
4. Background at an AI-first or AI transformation company where rethinking workflows around AI was part of the product or culture
5. Management consulting background with structured problem-solving, client management, and the ability to turn ambiguity into a plan
6. High-growth or startup experience with comfort operating in ambiguity and rapid change
For candidates located in NYC or SF, the pay range for this role is $128,000 - $176,000. For candidates located in all other locations, the pay range for this role is $115,000- $158,300.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL-TIME RAMP EMPLOYEES (GLOBAL)
- Flexible PTO
- Centralized home-office equipment ordering
