From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Forward Deployed Architect on Notion’s Services team, you will help customers turn AI ambition into operational reality and unlock the full potential of our platform. You will partner directly with customers to design, build, and launch AI-native workflows that drive adoption, usage, and measurable business outcomes.
This role sits at the center of Notion’s workflow-led GTM motion. You will partner directly with customers to understand their business goals, operating processes, technical environment, governance needs, and adoption barriers, then translate that context into scalable Notion architectures that drive measurable value.
You will be hands-on across discovery, solution design, workspace architecture, workflow build, AI implementation, launch planning, adoption and handoff. You will work deeply with customers to define what Notion should own, where it should integrate with existing systems, and how Notion can become a durable operating layer for their teams.
The best candidates combine strong consultative discovery, systems thinking, technical fluency, AI-native workflow design, implementation judgment and exceptional customer presence. You should be comfortable reasoning through technical tradeoffs, designing scalable solutions, and partnering closely with Forward Deployed Engineering when deeper engineering support is required.
This role will be based in Paris. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:
- Partner with customers on forward deployed engagements from discovery through launch, translating business goals and workflow requirements into scalable clear solution design and Notion solutions that drive durable adoption.
- Design scalable Notion architectures that translate customer workflows, permission and governance needs, integrations and AI use cases into optimal workspaces that are easy to adopt, manage and scale.
- Design and deploy AI-native workflows using Notion AI, custom agents, automations, Workers, Developer Platform capabilities and adjacent AI tools, partnering with Forward Deployed Engineering when advanced technical depth is needed for migrations, API constraints, security architecture or frontier implementation.
- Help customers navigate change by designing adoption plans, enablement materials and launch approaches that drive sustained usage and measurable business value.
- Identify repeatable patterns across customer engagements and convert them into packaged solutions, templates, reference architectures, run books, enablement assets and product feedback.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, simplifying complex technical requirements, making practical tradeoff recommendations and helping stakeholders align around a clear implementation path.
- Partner cross-functionally with GTM, Product, Engineering, PMM, Services leadership and the partner ecosystem to scale what works beyond individual customer engagements.
- Create clear implementation plans, handoff materials and success measures that align customers and internal teams on the path to value.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING:
- 5+ years of experience in tech services/consulting, solutions architecture, implementation, customer engineering, or a similar customer-facing role.
- Proven ability to translate ambiguous customer goals into clear workflows, implementation plans, solution architectures, and measurable success criteria.
- Strong consultative discovery skills, including the ability to map current-state workflows, identify customer pain, understand operating models, surface technical constraints, and define practical future-state solutions.
- Hands-on AI builder mindset, with experience using AI tools to design, prototype, automate, or improve real business workflows.
- Technical fluency with APIs, integrations, data models, automation, enterprise systems, developer workflows and implementation tradeoffs. You do not need to write production code but you should be able to reason through technical constraints and troubleshoot effectively.
- Strong experience delivering implementations that drive adoption, change management and long-term customer value.
- Strong project and engagement management skills, including ownership of scope, timeline, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, risks, decisions, dependencies and launch readiness.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business, technical, and executive audiences.
- Strong executive presence and customer judgment, with the ability to build trust, frame tradeoffs clearly, and move ambiguous decisions forward.
- Bias toward action, high learning velocity, and comfort building in fast-changing AI-native product environments.
- Fluency in English and French.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience designing or deploying Agents, automations or AI-powered workflows with Customers.
- Experience with Notion, APIs, MCPs, Workers, coding agents or developer platform workflows.
- Experience developing discovery methodologies, reusable delivery assets, internal tooling, packaged services or reference architectures from the ground up.
- Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to turn field learnings into roadmap signal, reusable architecture patterns or scalable product improvements.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and managing dev infrastructure
Fluent in using AI code assistants and coding agents to generate and investigate code, and conversational AI (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT) to author, review, and synthesize SDLC artifacts — and able to model those practices for a team
Bonus Skills
Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or cloud-based data platforms
Experience architecting metadata, catalog, lineage, or discovery/search systems
Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services
Familiarity with the analytics engineering workflow and the dbt ecosystem

ABOUT VOODOO
Founded in 2013, Voodoo is a tech company that creates mobile games and apps with a mission to entertain the world. Gathering 800 employees, 7 billion downloads, and over 200 million active users, Voodoo is the #3 mobile publisher worldwide in terms of downloads after Google and Meta. Our portfolio includes chart-topping games like Mob Control and Block Jam, alongside popular apps such as BeReal and Wizz.
TEAM
The Engineering & Data team builds innovative tech products and platforms to support the impressive growth of Voodoo's gaming and consumer apps, keeping us at the forefront of the mobile industry. The team plays a key role in Voodoo's long-term strategy: it accelerates product diversification and provides a state-of-the-art growth engine to distribute and scale our games. We create solutions that drive growth with a pragmatic approach, ranging from simple search to complex machine learning systems.
Within Engineering & Data, the Central Data & Analytics team makes data a reliable guide for the whole company. Data engineers, analytics engineers, data analysts and a product data PM work side by side to build and grow the foundations behind every critical business and product decision at Voodoo.
This position is hybrid and requires 3 days/week in our Paris office.
ROLE
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Engineering & Data team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a wide array of topics such as:
- Build and operate robust data pipelines that keep pace with ever-evolving business needs, ensuring the architecture supports them cleanly.
- Contribute to the codebase, ship and maintain your changes in production, and champion strong coding and data engineering practices.
- Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, and whatever comes next) as a core part of your daily workflow — to move faster on pipelines, migrations, tests and documentation — while staying fully accountable for what you merge.
- Look for opportunities to put AI inside our data platform, not just around it: LLM-assisted data quality checks, semantic layers, natural-language access to datasets, agent-driven internal tooling.
- Take ownership of projects from initial discussions to release: feature estimation and scoping, architecture design, benchmarking of new technologies, product feedback.
- Work in a very agile environment with a fast decision process.
- Collaborate directly with back-end engineers, data scientists, mobile game and consumer app teams, product and marketing.
PROFILE
- Extensive experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- A proven track record of building and optimizing data pipelines for massive volumes of data (at scale).
- Strong experience with scalability, reliability, and security topics.
- Hands-on experience coding with AI assistants and agentic tools — you know how to give them the right context, break work down for them, and review their output critically rather than trusting it blindly.
- Genuine curiosity about modern tooling and practices: you follow how the data and AI ecosystem is evolving, try new tools on real problems, and form your own opinion instead of following hype. You can explain why you adopted something — or why you dropped it.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with unstructured datasets.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services.
- Result-oriented and focused on the value your work creates.
- Curious about business needs and keen to build innovative, pragmatic solutions that grow the business through data.
- Excellent communication skills (you can speak and write English).
- Experience with LLM-based systems (RAG, evals, prompt and context engineering) is a strong plus.
- Experience in gaming, advertising, or another fast-growing company is a plus.
- Familiarity with Voodoo's ecosystem: gaming, apps, advertising, analytics.
OUR STACK
- Amazon Web Services; Python; Spark; Scala; Terraform; SQL (Athena, StarRocks); DBT;; Airflow; Kubernetes; AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, MCP-based internal tools)
BENEFITS
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Swile Lunch voucher
- Gymlib (100% covered by Voodoo)
- Premium healthcare coverage with SideCare, 100% covered for you and your family
- Wellness activities in our Paris office
- Remote Fridays

We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data.
Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on.
Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.

During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the Role
Fivetran and dbt Labs are building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.
We're looking for a staff software engineer to be a technical leader on our Metadata team, which owns the metadata layer of the dbt platform — the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services that let customers understand, trust, and act on what their data is doing.
As a
Staff Software Engineer
, you'll contribute to the technical direction for the team. You'll own the architecture of major subsystems, lead complex projects that span multiple engineers, and raise the bar for design and code quality across the team. You'll spend your time on the hardest technical problems, and multiply the team through design reviews, coaching, and mentorship.
This is a full-time, fully remote position. We do expect the successful candidate to come to the Oakland, CA office from time to time.
Technologies You'll Use
Python, GraphQL, Postgres, Snowflake, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Datadog
What You'll Do
Lead the design and delivery of complex, team-level projects across the Metadata services, coordinating development across multiple engineers
Independently design and develop the architecture of new subsystems, and own team-level subsystems end to end
Use AI tooling and agents — across development and SDLC artifacts such as TDDs, PRDs, post-mortems, and test plans
Review and approve technical designs, ensuring they meet a high quality bar, and identify design deficiencies before they ship
Drive technical initiatives across the team's responsibility areas — discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history
Set and uphold design, architecture, and coding best practices, and hold teammates accountable for code quality
Coach and mentor engineers, demonstrably improving the quality of code across the team
Write technical specs, document common components, and keep the team accountable for necessary project documentation
Fix and optimize critical parts of the codebase, drive incident follow-through, and advance the reliability and performance of the services you own
Participate periodically in the on-call rotation
Skills We're Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading complex, team-scope technical work to completion
Deep expertise designing and owning subsystems in distributed, cloud-based systems
Demonstrated ability to set technical direction for a team and drive multi-engineer initiatives across an area of ownership
Excellent design and architecture judgment; identifies design flaws in existing systems and proposes sound solutions with clear trade-offs
Writes exemplary, well-tested code that serves as a model for others, and reliably estimates and delivers sprint to sprint
Strong track record of raising quality through code review, coaching peers, and enforcing accepted engineering practices
Experience partnering with QE on test strategy and owning operational health — incidents, post-mortems, reliability, and performance
Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#

WHO WE ARE
Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkpYpWfEK5s. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Product Infrastructure team works on creating abstractions and data models that solve enduring problems across the stack. We solve problems that span multiple product surfaces and typically stretch across both front-end and backend and unblock new product avenues that were previously challenging to create.
This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:
- Shape and build the core frameworks that enable reading and writing data in Notion, integrating feedback from internal customers along the way, using whatever tools are required for the job, such as AWS, Postgres, NodeJS, TypeScript, React on the frontend.
- Design new systems and abstractions that improve developer productivity, reliability, and performance by handling entire classes of problems up-front for product engineers.
- Solve hard technical challenges such as designing abstractions for efficient traversal of the user content graph, building a system to sync user content for offline use, or scaling our permission model to serve large customers with complex content.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING:
- Thoughtful problem-solving: For you, problem-solving starts with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution.
- Pragmatic and business-oriented: You care about business impact and prioritize projects accordingly. You're not just going after cool stuff—you understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line.
- Strive for simplicity: You think critically about the implications of what you're building, and aim for the most simple and well-crafted design. You understand the consequence of complexity, and are motivated to eliminate them.
- Not ideological about technology: To you, technologies and programming languages are about tradeoffs. You may be opinionated, but you're not ideological and can learn new technologies as you go.
- Empathetic communication: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time. In disagreements, you engage thoughtfully with other perspectives and compromise when needed.
- Team player: For you, work isn't a solo endeavor. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, and you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same.
NICE TO HAVES:
- You have leveraged the features of typed languages (e.g. TypeScript, Flow) to drive code migrations, or have implemented your own data modeling paradigms (e.g. writing your own ORM, sync engine, or query language).
- You have seen how fundamental abstractions scale within a large codebase, and are curious about how different organizations solve similar problems (e.g. TAO by Meta, Zanzibar by Google).
- You've heard of computing pioneers like Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, and others—and understand why we're big fans of their work.
- You have interests outside of technology, such as in art, history, or social sciences.
Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below.
