Senior Director, Business Strategy & Planning
Reports to:
Vice President, Head of Operations
Position Summary
The Senior Director of Business Strategy & Planning will serve as a strategic operating partner to the Vice President, Head of Operations and lead the team responsible for establishing and running the business operating system for the Studio Business Group (SBG).
This leader will build and manage a high-performing Strategy & Planning team that creates an integrated view of business performance, organizational health, strategic priorities, portfolio considerations and emerging risks. The team will translate complex information from across the business into clear insights, recommendations and decision agendas for the Studio Business Group CEO and senior leadership team.
The role will own and continuously improve the executive operating rhythm, including business reviews, strategic planning, KPI reporting, risk management and leadership decision forums. Working across studios, Production, Finance, Technology, Development Strategy and other Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) partners, the Senior Director will connect strategy to execution and ensure leadership attention is focused on the organization’s most important choices.
This position requires a leader who can operate as both a senior strategic advisor and a hands-on builder: setting direction, developing talent and personally engaging in the most complex and high-impact work.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Strategy and Advisory
Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the Vice President, Head of Operations.
Develop and maintain a holistic view of Studio Business Group performance, organizational health, strategic priorities and enterprise risks.
Identify emerging issues, interdependencies and business trade-offs that require leadership attention.
Translate complex or ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, recommendations and decision options.
Prepare executive briefings, strategic narratives and decision materials for the Studio Business Group CEO and leadership team.

Build, lead and develop a small Strategy & Planning team.
Establish the team’s mandate, roles, operating model and ways of working.
Set clear priorities and ensure the team focuses on the highest-value strategic and operational needs.
Delegate work effectively while remaining personally engaged in complex executive-level analysis and decision support.
Coach team members in strategic thinking, executive communication, business judgment and cross-functional leadership.
Create a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, curiosity, collaboration and sound judgment.
Assess future capability and resource needs as the Strategy & Planning function matures.
Business Planning and Operating Rhythm
Design, establish and manage the Studio Business Group’s integrated operating cadence.
Lead the planning and coordination of recurring business forums, including:
Management Review Process activities
Quarterly and periodic business reviews
KPI and performance reviews
Strategy and risk discussions
Annual and multi-year planning activities
Leadership decision and follow-up processes
Ensure executive forums are designed to drive decisions, accountability and action rather than simply report information.
Create clear connections among strategic priorities, operating plans, financial commitments and execution progress.
Establish processes to track decisions, actions and unresolved issues across leadership forums.
Business Performance and Insights
Build an integrated executive view of business performance, risks and opportunities.
Partner with Finance and functional leaders to establish meaningful KPIs and performance measures.
Lead the team in synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information from across studios and functions into actionable executive insights.
Identify patterns, business implications and areas requiring intervention or further analysis.
Ensure executive materials clearly communicate performance, risks, choices and recommended actions.
Raise the quality and consistency of analysis used in senior leadership decision-making.
Strategic Initiative Leadership
Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that span studios, functions or SIE organizations.
Establish clear objectives, decision rights, milestones and measures of success.
Assign members of the Strategy & Planning team to priority initiatives based on business need and individual capability.
Coordinate work across teams without assuming ownership that appropriately sits within existing functions.
Surface dependencies, resolve ambiguity and escalate issues when leadership decisions are required.
Ensure strategic initiatives are sequenced appropriately so the organization is not overloaded by competing demands.
Step into ambiguous or high-risk work where direct senior leadership involvement is required.
Cross-Functional Alignment
Build strong partnerships across Production, Finance, Development Strategy, Technology, Portfolio Management, HR and studio leadership.
Connect information and priorities across teams that may otherwise operate independently.
Support alignment between Studio Business Group priorities and broader SIE planning and operating rhythms.
Help clarify roles, ownership and decision rights when work crosses organizational boundaries.
Facilitate productive executive discussions around competing priorities and trade-offs.
Represent the Strategy & Planning function in senior-level cross-SIE planning and operating forums.
Leadership Expectations
The Senior Director will lead a small team while also operating as a senior individual contributor on the organization’s most consequential work.
The successful candidate must be able to move fluidly between:
Advising senior executives
Setting direction for the Strategy & Planning function
Developing and coaching team members
Leading complex cross-functional initiatives
Reviewing and elevating the quality of team output
Personally producing analysis and recommendations when the work is highly sensitive, ambiguous or strategically important
The role requires strong judgment regarding what to own directly, what to delegate to the team and what should remain with established functional leaders.
Qualifications
Extensive experience in business strategy, business operations, strategic planning, management consulting, corporate development, portfolio strategy or a related field.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing a high-performing strategy, operations, consulting or planning team.
Experience directly advising C-suite or equivalent senior executives and supporting complex enterprise-level decisions.
Proven ability to synthesize large volumes of complex information into clear insights and recommendations.
Strong business judgment and the ability to understand connections among strategy, operations, financial performance, organizational design and execution.
Experience designing or improving executive operating rhythms, planning processes or performance management systems.
Demonstrated success leading complex work across a highly matrixed organization.
Exceptional written, verbal and executive presentation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and facilitation capabilities.

Success in this role will be reflected through:
Improved quality, speed and clarity of executive decisions
A consistent and effective business operating cadence
Greater visibility into business performance, risks and strategic trade-offs
Stronger alignment across studios, functions and SIE partners
Clearer accountability and follow-through on leadership decisions
High-quality strategic insights and executive recommendations
Effective sequencing and delivery of cross-functional priorities
The establishment of a credible and valued Strategy & Operations function
Development and retention of a high-performing team

Commercial Manager, D2C - Change & Go-To-Market
San Mateo, CA (hybrid)
Role Summary:
Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) is seeking a Change & GTM Commercial Manager to shape and deliver strategic e-commerce initiatives at global scale. This role goes beyond project delivery: you will turn customer, market, and trading insights into clear commercial strategies and own the end-to-end go-to-market lifecycle, from opportunity sizing and value proposition through launch, adoption, retention, and continuous optimization. You will help improve how players discover, evaluate, purchase, and engage with PlayStation products and services across the Direct to Consumer (D2C) business. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Merchandising, Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and Operations to deliver measurable customer and commercial value. This role requires a commercially minded, data-savvy operator who can frame ambiguous problems, work hands-on with data, influence strategic choices, and translate insight into execution with pace and agility.
What You'll Be Doing:
Shape e-commerce and GTM strategy -
define the customer problem, identify priority segments, and shape the value proposition, market sequencing, channel approach, and commercial roadmap.
Drive analytical decision-making -
analyze customer journeys, growth funnels, trading performance, and behavioral data to identify opportunities, diagnose performance gaps, and recommend clear actions.
Build commercial cases and KPI frameworks
-
forecast and monitor outcomes including traffic, acquisition, conversion, basket size and average order value, purchase frequency, repeat purchase, LTV, and incremental revenue; use the evidence to guide investment and prioritization choices.
Embed experimentation and personalization
- partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Data Science to design A/B tests, apply segmentation and predictive insights, and improve customer relevance and conversion.
Own the full GTM lifecycle -
connect commercial strategy to launch planning, customer activation, market readiness, adoption, retention, learning, and continuous optimization.
Create performance visibility -
build dashboards, decision-ready reporting, and review rhythms that turn data into recommendations, owners, and measurable performance improvements.
Lead cross-functional orchestration and change -
align global teams around customer outcomes, commercial goals, decisions, risks, dependencies, and business readiness; influence stakeholders through clear analysis and compelling narratives.
Build scalable e-commerce playbooks -
codify repeatable approaches for segmentation, proposition development, launch, experimentation, adoption, optimization, and transfer into business-as-usual ownership.
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in management consulting, commercial strategy, e-commerce, digital commerce, growth, product, or Go-To-Market; experience supporting transactional e-commerce, digital storefronts, Direct-to-Consumer, technology, games, or entertainment is strongly preferred.
Commercial modelling experience including opportunity sizing, forecasting, scenario analysis, business-case development, and assessing incremental revenue and customer value.
Strong hands-on analytical capability including working with SQL, Tableau or similar BI tools, spreadsheets, KPI modelling, segmentation, funnel diagnostics, and AI-enabled analytical tools to generate actionable insights.
Structured, hypothesis-driven problem-solving with the ability to bring clarity to complexity, test assumptions, and make practical recommendations from incomplete information.
Experience with experimentation and optimization including A/B testing, test design, measurement, and using results to improve customer journeys and commercial performance.
Strong e-commerce and customer-lifecycle understanding including digital storefronts, merchandising, offers and promotions, acquisition, conversion, checkout, basket value, repeat purchase, and personalized customer experiences.
Proven ability to connect strategy to execution translating insight into clear choices, roadmaps, operating plans, and measurable outcomes.
Strong cross-functional leadership with the communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills to influence product and business decisions at all levels.
Experience leading business readiness and change for new digital capabilities, customer propositions, or commercial operating models.
Product management or agile delivery experience is a plus.
What we value:
Pace and agility
to react and adjust to changing customer and business needs.
Passion
for delivering measurable business and customer value.
Curiosity
to explore data, challenge assumptions, and translate insight into action.
Commercial judgment
to balance customer value, business impact, pace, and practical constraints.
A growth mindset

Looking to join a world-class blockchain development team? Ava Labs makes it simple to deploy high-performance solutions for Web3, led by innovations on Avalanche. The company was founded by Cornell computer scientists, who partnered with Wall Street veterans and early Web3 leaders to execute a promising vision for redefining the way people build permissionless networks. About the Role
Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Platform Engineering Group. This team is responsible for maintaining and advancing the Avalanche blockchain and its ecosystem.
Ava Labs is hiring a Staff Engineer into the Platform Engineering Group to serve as a full-time maintainer of AvalancheGo and the technical anchor for the node domain: consensus, peer-to-peer networking, state sync, the VM plugin interface, and the node's integration with the C-Chain EVM (coreth and libevm). This is a hands-on role that requires an Architect/Solver build, with tech lead responsibilities during coordinated network upgrades. You will own the health of the codebase, set the technical direction of the domain across the teams that build on it, and multiply the effectiveness of the engineers around you.
What You Will Do
- Own AvalancheGo as its maintainer: Maintain and advance the software powering the Avalanche network, as well as its environments. Manage contributions from both the team and the community in a fair, effective, and thoughtful manner. You hold the merge bar for network-critical code; assess contributions from the team and the community fairly and quickly, and steward backwards compatibility for the node operators and Avalanche L1 builders downstream of every release. Your review will be the last gate before code reaches every validator.
- Set and enforce engineering standards. Define what production quality means for the team.
- Design, build, and advance Avalanche’s critical systems. You’ll be contributing directly to the critical systems in the Avalanche network: consensus, networking (P2P), state management and sync, the VM interface, and performance of both the network nodes and their EVM integrations.
- Champion reliability and production readiness. Establish observability standards (structured logging, metrics, tracing, profiling), define SLOs for node performance, and lead incident review and postmortem culture for network incidents.
- Raise and define release quality. Own the engineering lifecycle for network-critical code: versioning and upgrade coordination, backward compatibility, staged rollouts across test networks, and hard test quality metrics (unit, property, fuzz, race-detection, and end-to-end network tests) before anything ships.
- Mentorship. Mentor senior engineers into larger scope, run design reviews that measurably change outcomes, and spread your context deliberately so the team can onboard, operate, and extend the node without you.Turn a team of individual contributors into a team with shared standards, shared context, and a high quality ceiling. Becoming a single point of failure is a failure mode of this role, and you will be expected to resist it.
- Evangelize the project within the org: Write ADRs, release notes, and technical communications; engage external contributors; and model what a great open source citizen looks like.
- Drive protocol direction through the ACP process. You originate and champion Avalanche Community Proposals, represent the node's constraints in protocol design conversations, and position AvalancheGo for upgrades before they activate on Fuji and Mainnet. Your bets play out over 6 to 18 months.
What Makes You a Good Fit
- A self-starter with insatiable curiosity combined with being comfortable diving into someone else’s code to understand how it works. You treat the code as the source of truth and are able to discern nuances from there.
- Meticulous attention to detail and an appreciation for clean, maintainable code. You create software as much for the end user as for the love of the craft.
- You believe in growing a culture of excellence. As a Staff Engineer you will set the definition for development standards among your team, as well as cultivating the quality you want to see in the developers you work with.
- You understand what makes a great open source project great. Not just in terms of code quality, but in terms of its ecosystem, its community, and its contributors
- You have operated at Staff scope before, irrespective of whatever your title said. You can point to a workstream you created rather than inherited, one that other teams came to depend on, and to the case you built to get it funded.
- You influence without authority. You have driven technical direction across teams that did not report to you, through alignment and credibility rather than escalation, and engineers from those teams would vouch for it.
- You treat the code as the source of truth. You are comfortable diving into a large unfamiliar codebase, discerning its nuances from the source, and making impactful contributions within weeks.
- You know what makes a great open source project great: the code quality, and equally the review culture, the contributor experience, and the trust of the ecosystem that depends on it. You have been on the maintainer side of that relationship.
- You hold a high bar and make it stick. You have set standards that other engineers actually follow, pushed back when work below the bar tried to land, and done it in a way that made people want to work with you rather than around you.
- You still do the unglamorous work visibly. Reviews, on-call, migrations, and documentation remain part of the job at this level, and you treat them as the job rather than a distraction from it.
This Role Is Not for You If
- You want to write smart contracts or build dapps. This is node and protocol engineering, several layers down.
- You want a purely advisory position.
- You consider reviews, on-call, migrations, and documentation to be beneath the level. They remain part of the job, done visibly.
- You are uncomfortable working in public. Your code, your reviews, your design docs, and occasionally your mistakes will be visible to the entire ecosystem.
What You Will Bring
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years operating at a staff/lead level (or clearly performing at that scope), with a track record of raising team-wide engineering quality.
- Expert-level Go: deep fluency with the concurrency model (goroutines, channels, the race detector), profiling and performance tuning (pprof, benchmarks), module and dependency management, and idiomatic API design in large codebases.
- Significant open source experience - maintainer or sustained core contributor on a widely used project, with a public record of reviews, RFCs/design docs, and community engagement (a GitHub profile we can read is worth more than any bullet on a resume).
- Proven production experience designing, shipping, and operating distributed systems at scale: consensus or replication, P2P networking, state synchronization, or comparable high-availability systems.
- Strong testing discipline across the pyramid: unit, property-based/fuzz, integration, and end-to-end network testing, plus experience building CI that enforces it (GitHub Actions preferred).
- Experience with release engineering for software users self-host and cannot be force-upgraded: semantic versioning, backward compatibility, migration paths, and coordinated network upgrades.
- Working fluency with Linux-based infrastructure, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana or equivalent).
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
(**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.)

This is a hands-on, field-facing role for someone who has been through at least one real estate development from land acquisition to entitlement and is excited to apply that experience to the data center industry.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and support site entitlement efforts, including zoning, platting, land use approvals, and other local governmental approvals required to advance data center sites.
Serve as the company's primary point of contact with municipalities, counties, city councils, county commissioners, and other public officials on assigned projects.
Build and maintain working relationships with mayors, city managers, county judges, and municipal/county staff.
Prepare and deliver presentations to city councils, commissioners' courts, planning and zoning boards, and other public bodies.
Identify, evaluate, and help acquire permits required for site development, including building permits and entrance/access permits, and coordinate with public works and TxDOT/county road authorities as needed.
Coordinate with utility providers (power, water, wastewater, gas, telecom/fiber) to confirm capacity, service availability, and extension requirements for prospective sites.
Support land acquisition efforts, including sourcing prospective sites, negotiating with landowners, and structuring purchase and option agreements.
Apply working knowledge of Texas oil, gas, and mineral rights to identify and help resolve mineral, surface, and lease issues affecting site control.
Understand and help manage the basics of real estate contracts, title work, and the closing process, coordinating with legal counsel, title companies, and surveyors as needed.
Understand the basics of handling claims that may arise during due diligence, construction, or site development (e.g., title, boundary, or contractor-related claims), and know when and how to escalate them internally.
Communicate regularly and clearly with internal stakeholders — leadership, legal, engineering, and construction teams — on project status, risks, and timelines.
Develop working knowledge of data center development requirements (power, fiber, water, site criteria) and apply that knowledge to site selection and entitlement strategy.
Travel within the Lubbock region and broader Texas market as needed to support site visits, public meetings, and landowner negotiations.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in real estate development, with direct involvement in at least one completed development project from acquisition through entitlement (commercial or residential); OR equivalent experience as a landman.
Demonstrated experience entitling property and working directly with municipalities, city councils, county commissioners, or other public officials.
Comfortable and experienced presenting to public bodies, boards, and internal leadership.
Working understanding of Texas oil, gas, and mineral rights and how they can affect a real estate transaction or site.
Basic understanding of real estate purchase contracts, title, and the closing process.
Experience negotiating with landowners and/or sellers in a land acquisition context.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally to external officials and internal stakeholders alike.
Willingness and genuine interest in learning the fundamentals of data center development.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.
