Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Robotics Test Engineer to support software release validation, policy evaluations, and end-to-end metrics collection on our humanoid robots. You will work alongside our Test Team, owning day-to-day execution and growing into deeper HIL and automation responsibilities.
This is not a standard web-QA role. You will be running tests on real robots, comparing simulation against reality, and helping us build the data pipeline that tells us whether each new software version is ready to ship.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
SOFTWARE RELEASE TESTING
- Release Validation: Execute the end-to-end test pipeline for each new software release, ensuring quality gates are met before the build is deployed to the fleet.
- Regression Coverage: Run automated and manual regression suites against new builds; triage failures and route them to the right owner.
- CI/CD Participation: Contribute new tests to our CI/CD pipeline (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) so that regressions are caught immediately after code merges.
2. POLICY EVALUATIONS
- Eval Support: Help design and run policy evaluations for our learned behaviors — defining success criteria, executing trials, and collecting results in a reproducible way.
- Simulation: Run policy evaluations in simulation environments (Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim) in parallel with physical robot tests.
- Sim-to-Real: Track differences between simulation and physical robot results and feed findings back to the policy team.
3. E2E METRICS COLLECTION
- Metrics Pipeline: Support the collection of end-to-end performance and reliability metrics across releases, building consistent reporting the org can trust.
- Dashboards: Help maintain dashboards that highlight pass/fail rates, latency, and performance trends release-over-release.
- Data Hygiene: Keep test data clean and well-labeled so that long-term trends remain meaningful as the platform evolves.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience: 3+ years in software test engineering or test automation, ideally with some exposure to robotics, embedded systems, or another physical-systems domain.
- Coding: Strong proficiency in Python for scripting and test automation. Comfortable reading C++.
- Robotics Middleware: Working knowledge of ROS2 — you understand topics, services, and how to interact with a running robot.
- OS: Comfortable in Linux (Ubuntu) — terminal, shell scripting, basic system administration.
- Mindset: Methodical and curious. You enjoy finding the one weird edge case that breaks the build.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with robotics simulators (Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Unity).
- Exposure to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches.
- Basic electrical debugging skills (multimeter, oscilloscope).
- Awareness of safety-critical standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
TECH STACK
- Languages: Python (primary), C++ (reading), Bash
- Robotics: ROS / ROS2
- CI/CD: GitLab / GitHub Actions
- Simulation: NVIDIA Isaac Sim
- Hardware Interfaces: CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet
WHAT WE OFFER
- Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of annual leave (accrued), 15 days of paid sick leave, and paid company holidays.
- Fully funded private healthcare for UK employees, with broad provider access, virtual and in‑person care, and strong mental health and serious illness support.
- Equity included–we believe builders should share in what they build.
- Pension scheme with a total 8% contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in‑office.
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to own the test methodology for HMND‑01’s hardware components, robot subsystems, and complete humanoid robots. You will be the engineer who decides what “good” looks like — from a single actuator on the bench to a full robot walking through an integration sequence.
This is a hands-on, technical leadership role. You will design test methods, run them yourself on early prototypes, and partner closely with the test automation team, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, and Supply Chain Quality as we move from EVT toward production. You’ll be the hardware voice that shapes what gets measured on the line, at what tolerance, and why — without owning the QC routine or rig build, which sit with Production Ops Quality and Manufacturing Engineering respectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. TEST METHOD DEFINITION
- Component-Level Methods: Define functional, performance, and stress tests for individual hardware components — actuators, sensors, electronics, structural parts — including pass/fail criteria and required data capture.
- Subsystem Testing: Design integration tests for major robot subsystems (arms, hands, legs, torso, head) covering kinematic accuracy, repeatability, load behavior, and thermal response.
- Whole-Robot Testing: Define and execute system-level tests for full robot assemblies, including end-to-end motion sequences, balance, manipulation tasks, and failure-mode behavior.
2. HANDS-ON TEST EXECUTION
- Prototype Bring-up: Be the first engineer to put hands on each new hardware revision, characterizing performance against design intent and feeding findings back to the design team.
- Failure Analysis: Investigate failures during testing, work with hardware engineers to root-cause issues, and verify fixes.
- Test Documentation: Capture methods, results, and learnings in a way that the rest of the organization can repeat and trust.
3. AUTOMATION SUPPORT
- Test Automation Inputs: Translate manual test methods into specifications for the automation team. Decide which tests can be automated and which must remain manual, and why.
- Tooling: Specify and prototype custom test fixtures, jigs, and instrumentation needed to execute your methods reliably during prototype and bring-up work.
- Data: Define what each test must capture so that automated runs produce results comparable to your manual baseline.
4. PRODUCTION TEST — IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING AND PRODUCTION OPS
- Requirements for Line Rigs & Jigs: Provide the technical requirements for production test jigs, fixtures, and test beds — what they measure, at what tolerance, what data they need to capture, and the pass/fail criteria. Manufacturing Engineering owns rig design, build, and commissioning; you review designs and sign off on whether they actually verify what they’re meant to verify.
- In-Process Verification: Define the checks at each stage of assembly that confirm components and sub-assemblies have been built correctly before they move to the next station, including required measurements and rework paths for failures.
- Test Evidence & Traceability: Define what each production test must capture so that results, measurements, and pass/fail outcomes are written to the production database, linked to the serial number of the unit under test — every shipped robot has a complete and queryable build and test history.
- System-Level Acceptance: Define final-product acceptance tests — performance envelopes, functional gates, and sign-off criteria for a robot leaving the line.
5. QUALITY & DESIGN FEEDBACK LOOP — IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SUPPLY CHAIN QUALITY AND PRODUCTION OPS QUALITY
- Component Performance Characteristics: Define the system-level performance characteristics that incoming parts must meet. Supply Chain Quality translates these into incoming inspection criteria and supplier qualification plans, and runs the inspection process.
- Root-Cause Partnership: Partner with Production Ops Quality on root-cause analysis when line failures trace back to component behavior or system design, and feed findings back into engineering.
- Closed Loop with Design: Treat test data as a closed loop with design — surface trends from production into design reviews so the product gets better, not just the process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have:
- Experience: 5+ years in hardware test engineering, with hands-on testing of complex electromechanical systems — robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar.
- Test Methodology: Strong grasp of test theory, test design, and pass/fail criteria definition. You can write a test spec that another engineer can execute without follow-up questions.
- Mechanical: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, common core components (gears, bearings, actuators), measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, load cells, encoders), and technical drawings including GD&T basics.
- Electrical: Comfortable reading schematics, using a multimeter and oscilloscope, and reasoning about basic power and signal integrity.
- Production Fluency: Familiarity with hardware production operations — flow, takt, work instructions, traveler documentation — enough to collaborate effectively with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Ops without trying to own their work.
- Tooling: Experience with test and task tracking systems (Jira, X-Ray, TestRail, or similar).
- Matrix Operating Style: Comfortable influencing test stations, rigs, and equipment design through clear requirements and tight partnership, not through ownership.
- Mindset: Systems thinking — you naturally see how a problem at the component level can manifest as a behavior at the full-robot level.
Nice-to-Have:
- Robotics experience, especially with serial-link manipulators or legged systems.
- Hands-on test rig and fixture design experience (mechanical and/or electrical) — useful for speaking the same language as Manufacturing Engineering on rig requirements.
- Python (or similar) for ad-hoc data analysis and lightweight test automation.
- CAD (SolidWorks/Fusion/NX) for sketching test fixtures.
- Familiarity with ROS2.
- Experience with embedded systems and field buses such as CAN or EtherCAT.
- Experience with industrial automation equipment (servos, gateways, sensors, PLCs).
- Knowledge of statistical quality control fundamentals (SPC, MSA) — for working effectively with Quality on test data interpretation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE TESTING
- Actuators (motors, gearboxes, encoders, drivers)
- Robot manipulators and end-effectors
- Legged subsystems and balance behaviors
- Power and battery systems
- Full humanoid robot assemblies

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience: 4+ years in software testing, with strong experience testing client-server systems (front-end, back-end, APIs).
- Test Design: Strong grasp of testing theory and test design techniques — equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis, state-based testing, and similar.
- Automation: Hands-on Python for test automation. Familiarity with an API testing framework (pytest + requests, or equivalent).
- Linux: Comfortable operating in Linux environments and interacting with services over the terminal.
- Version Control: Experience with Git.
- CI/CD: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests integrate into them.
- Test Tracking: Experience with a test management or task tracking system (Jira, TestRail, or similar).
Nice-to-Have:
- Front-end test automation (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress).
- Performance and load testing (k6, Locust, JMeter).
- Containerization (Docker, basic Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with ML model serving infrastructure (Triton, TorchServe, etc.) and the kinds of things that can go wrong there.
- Knowledge of one other language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or C++).
- Awareness of the robotics domain — knowing what a humanoid robot needs from its software stack.
TECH STACK
- Languages: Python (primary), JavaScript/TypeScript for front-end work
- Backend: REST/gRPC APIs, message queues
- Infrastructure: Linux, Docker, cloud (AWS/GCP)
- Tooling: Git, GitHub/GitLab, test management tooling
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

- Occasionally contribute code upstream when it meaningfully improves customer outcomes
- This role requires 40% travel to customer sites to support deployment, onboarding, and ongoing technical engagement
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 3+ years in a relevant technical role (software engineering, customer engineering, solutions engineering, founding/product engineering), ideally in a startup or scale-up
- Strong Python, JavaScript and systems fundamentals
- Have designed agent-based or LLM-powered applications beyond simple API calls, including multi-step workflows, orchestration, and failure handling
- Are comfortable working directly with customers during POCs, architecture reviews, and technical evaluations
- Can explain technical tradeoffs clearly and build trust with developer audiences
- Take responsibility for outcomes, not just recommendations
- Have a bias toward action and enjoy figuring things out as you go
- Are excited about operating AI agents in production, not just building demos
NICE TO HAVE’S:
- You’ve deployed AI agents in production, especially using LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks
- Worked with LLM evaluation, observability, or guardrails
- Have experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), containers, and basic Kubernetes concepts
- Have shipped and operated production software and are comfortable owning systems under real-world constraints

The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and building products that establish trust in cryptocurrencies. We're a global organization that thrives on challenging work and doing it alongside exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry evolves rapidly, and our mission is to build a flexible, AI-driven platform that automates entity resolution, optimizes data labeling pipelines, and creates predictive models that identify illicit patterns before they escalate.
Our data and solutions have been used to solve some of the world's most high-profile criminal cases and grow consumer access to cryptocurrency safely. Now, by pairing the industry's most trusted blockchain data with agents that reason, investigate, and act, we help our customers scale their workflows as the cryptocurrency economy becomes increasingly mainstream.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in the Investigations group, you'll be a technical leader on the Government Systems team — the group responsible for the deployment platform and operational infrastructure that delivers Chainalysis Reactor to government and high-security customers.
The mission of the Government Systems team is to ensure that Chainalysis's most security-sensitive customers can run Reactor reliably in their own environments — including networks with strict access controls and limited connectivity. Government Systems sits at the intersection of infrastructure operations and product delivery. Product teams own their application code, but rely on Government Systems to provision environments, manage release pipelines, and operate the deployment platform. As a senior engineer you will be the connective tissue between these groups — setting technical direction, resolving cross-cutting issues, and ensuring the platform evolves to meet growing demands.
Note: This position requires eligibility to access U.S. Government information and systems. Due to applicable government security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. Due to collaboration with Europe, we are highly prioritizing candidates based in EST timezone.
In this role, you'll:
- Lead the design and evolution of RKE2 Kubernetes clusters across development, acceptance, and production environments — driving upgrades, capacity planning, networking strategy, and operational resilience
- Architect and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform) to provision and manage AWS-based environments, establishing patterns and modules that the team can scale with confidence
- Own the CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions) end-to-end — designing pipeline architecture, improving build performance, and ensuring releases flow reliably through staged environments
- Drive GitOps-based delivery strategy using Flux CD, defining standards for Helm charts and Kustomize overlays and ensuring consistent reconciliation across clusters
- Define container image lifecycle policies — building, signing, storing, and distributing images across OCI registries for multiple deployment targets
- Identify and eliminate operational toil through automation, improving environment provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes at a systemic level
- Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices — owning dashboards, runbooks, and post-incident reviews that raise platform reliability over time
- Serve as a technical point of contact for product service teams integrating into the deployment pipeline — unblocking teams, troubleshooting complex environment issues, and advocating for infrastructure best practices
- Own the security posture of the deployment platform — managing secrets, certificates, RBAC policies, and security configurations to meet compliance and operational security requirements
- Mentor and grow other engineers on the team through code review, pairing, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
We're looking for candidates who have:
- Deep experience operating Kubernetes in production at scale — cluster lifecycle management, Helm, networking, persistent storage, performance tuning, and complex workload troubleshooting
- Expert-level proficiency with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across multiple environments, including module design and state management strategies
- Strong Linux systems administration skills (RHEL or similar — networking, storage, systemd, performance analysis, shell scripting)
- Extensive experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar), with a focus on reliability, speed, and developer experience
- Deep familiarity with AWS services commonly used in infrastructure (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, EBS, Lambda, and related networking and security services)
- A strong operational mindset — you take ownership of reliability, think about failure modes proactively, and build automation to prevent recurring issues before they impact customers
Nice to have experience:
- Experience with GitOps tools such as Flux CD or ArgoCD in complex, multi-environment setups — including designing promotion strategies and managing drift
- Familiarity with container registry operations, image distribution, OCI artifact management, and image signing or verification workflows
- Experience managing databases in Kubernetes environments (e.g., PostgreSQL operators, stateful workloads, backup and recovery strategies)
- Familiarity with Kafka or other message brokers in a containerized environment, including operational management and scaling
- Experience with configuration management or automation tools (Ansible or similar) at fleet scale
- Advanced scripting proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation, tooling, and integration work
- Experience supporting environments with strict security or compliance requirements (FedRAMP, FIPS, IL environments, or similar)
- Exposure to or passion for the cryptocurrency technology ecosystem
Technologies we use:
- Kubernetes: RKE2, Helm, Kustomize, Flux CD
- Cloud provider: AWS (EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, IAM, Lambda)
- Infrastructure as code: Terraform
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, semantic-release
- Monitoring and alerting: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Humio
- Scripting and automation: Shell, Python
- Container registries: OCI/Docker
- Database management: PostgreSQL
