We are looking for an exceptional expert to take ownership of the product, evolve our architecture, and exponentially scale the profitability of our models.
You will be working directly on real PnL. This position is designed for someone who wants to see the direct financial impact of their work, thrives in an environment of high autonomy, and is committed to writing high-performance code and building sophisticated mathematical models.
Responsibilities
• Develop and optimise the ML architecture for our trading strategies.
• Drive the full research cycle: independently generate hypotheses, implement them into production, and monitor real-world performance/profitability.
• Refine and improve existing ML models to boost effectiveness.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in data processing pipelines and execution strategies.
Tech Stack
• Python (primary language)
• NumPy, numba, PyTorch / JAX
Requirements
• Experience in a Senior ML Engineer or ML Lead role.
• Proven track record of developing profitable ML models or trading strategies.

• Ability to operate in high-uncertainty environments: formulating your own hypotheses and validating them against data.
• Experience in writing high-performance, production-ready code.
Nice to Have
• Experience in algorithmic trading or deep domain expertise in cryptocurrency markets.
• Proficiency in C++ (specifically for reading and optimizing latency-critical code paths).
• Strong academic background: competition accolades, Kaggle achievements, scientific publications, or graduation from a top-tier DS program (e.g., SHAD).
• Interest in mentoring and team development.
Benefits
• Zero bureaucracy, high autonomy, and the chance to work alongside people who share a scientific approach and a commitment to high-quality engineering.
• The opportunity to directly influence the product and see the results of your work reflected in real financial outcomes.

ABOUT US:
AI NEEDS A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAYER. WE'RE BUILDING IT AT MODAL.
Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now.
Our customers include category-defining companies like Ramp https://modal.com/blog/how-ramp-built-a-full-context-background-coding-agent-on-modal, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale.
We've passed $1B in annualized run rate, up 15x from a year ago. In October 2026 we raised a $750M Series D led by Accel at a $15.75B valuation.
Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g.,Seaborn https://github.com/mwaskom/seaborn,Luigi https://github.com/spotify/luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.

- You have a demonstrated record of research in reinforcement learning, machine learning, foundation models, or related areas
- You have experience developing and evaluating large-scale models or machine learning systems
- You’re familiar with distributed training, large-scale inference, or multi-GPU environments
- You have publications at leading venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, CoRL, UAI, JMLR, or TMLR
- You have strong programming and engineering skills and can translate research ideas into working implementations
- You have a collaborative, mission-driven mindset and can work effectively across research and engineering teams

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a software engineer on the AI Solutions team, you will co-lead customer engagements with an AI Solutions Strategist. The Strategist owns business discovery, ROI narrative, stakeholder alignment, and rollout planning. The engineer owns technical discovery, solution design, prototyping, implementation, and production readiness.
This is a deeply client-facing role. You will spend significant time with customers and end users, moving projects from bootcamp and workflow discovery through implementation, launch, and steady production usage.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Translate customer goals into clear system requirements and non-functional requirements covering security, privacy, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost.
- Partner directly with customers to understand current workflows, constraints, systems, data quality, and adoption blockers.
- Create and maintain solution architecture artifacts:
- System context and data flow diagrams
- Integration plan across Ramp and customer systems
- Security model covering permissions, access patterns, and auditability
- Evaluation plan covering quality metrics, acceptance tests, and red-teaming
- Operational plan covering monitoring, alerting, incident response, and runbooks
- Leverage core Ramp primitives to build efficiently, reusing existing product capabilities wherever possible.
- Prototype and validate workflows with end users to de-risk the approach and prove product-market fit.
- Drive projects from bootcamp and technical discovery through implementation, production launch, and operational handoff.
- Ensure deployed workflows are reliable, supportable, measurable, and adopted by customer teams.
- Convert deployments into reusable patterns, components, and playbooks for future AI Solutions projects.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Experience shipping production software in high-ownership environments.
- Ability to work directly with enterprise customers from discovery through production implementation.
- Experience in solutions architecture, technical consulting, forward deployed engineering, or pre-sales engineering.
- Strong fundamentals in ML/GenAI, including problem decomposition, evaluation, and deployment trade-offs.
- Strong coding ability in at least one of: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, or similar.
- Ability to design secure, scalable systems and produce clear technical documentation.
- Comfort working across APIs, integrations, data pipelines, customer systems, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with cloud architecture on AWS, GCP, or Azure, and distributed systems patterns.
- Experience building LLM systems, including RAG, agents, monitoring, and evals.
- Willingness to travel up to ~50% as needed, flexible based on project needs and client needs
- Nice to have: Familiarity with finance operations workflows such as AP, procurement, expenses, close, reconciliation, and reporting.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL-TIME RAMP EMPLOYEES (GLOBAL)
- Flexible PTO
- Centralized home-office equipment ordering
- Health and wellness stipend
- Budget for intra-office travel
- Weekly coffee stipend
