Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on Prototype Engineer to build, assemble and maintain hardware prototypes for the end effectors on our robots and the human-worn devices operators use to interface with them. You'll run our prototyping shop, build and maintain test rigs, and support hardware testing and trial sessions — turning CAD files and BOMs into working units, fast. This is a high-paced environment where turnaround is tight and your work directly shapes what the design team builds next.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build Prototype Hardware: Build, assemble and maintain prototype hardware from CAD/BOM through to working units.
- Operate Workshop Equipment: Operate 3D printers, CNC and general workshop tools to produce prototype parts quickly and to spec.
- Prototype with MCUs: Quickly wire up and prototype with MCU platforms such as ESP32 and Raspberry Pi to support test rigs and hardware validation.
- Build & Run Test Rigs: Build, set up and run test rigs and validation jigs for durability, calibration and functional testing.
- Support Hardware Testing: Support hardware testing, internal trials and demo sessions, providing hands-on troubleshooting and repair.
- Turn Around Fast: Deliver prototype builds within tight timelines to keep pace with rapid design-iteration cycles.
- Manage the Shop: Maintain an organised prototyping shop and parts inventory, including fasteners, connectors and components.
- Feed Back to Design: Document build issues and feed practical build, assembly and serviceability feedback directly into design decisions.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Background in mechanical/mechatronic engineering, technician training, or equivalent hands-on hardware experience, with 2-4 years' experience prototyping physical hardware or robotics products.
- Practical skills with 3D printing, hand tools, basic machining, soldering and cable/harness assembly.
- Ability to prototype quickly with MCU platforms (e.g. ESP32, Raspberry Pi and similar), plus basic breadboarding and circuit assembly skills.
- Comfortable reading CAD drawings and BOMs and translating them into a physical build; any level of CAD design capability is a plus.
- Experience building test rigs and supporting hardware testing, trials or demos of prototype hardware.
- A practical, get-it-working mindset with good organisational habits, comfortable in a high-paced, iterative environment.
Nice to have
- Any level of CAD design capability — not just reading drawings, but creating or modifying simple parts/fixtures
- Basic electronics debugging skills (multimeter, continuity checks, simple rework)
- Experience assembling wearable or compact electromechanical devices
- Experience in a robotics or hardware startup lab environment
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

Humanoid is seeking a highly driven and experienced Product Program Manager to join our Product Department. This critical role will lead the end-to-end development and delivery programme and relevant product-related projects for Humanoid's next-generation bipedal humanoid robot fleet solution – from Alpha prototype to production version, and from early adoption to mass deployment and further to different version obsolescence.
As the anchor for the development, launch and deployment process, you will drive cross-functional coordination across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure that the solution is delivered on-time, on-cost, on-quality, and on-spec.
This is a highly collaborative role, requiring deep expertise in programme delivery and budget management across both technical and non-technical workstreams, as well as in product lifecycle for products that combine cutting edge hardware and software technologies. You will work closely with Engineering's Technical Program Managers (TPMs), who own the detailed technical execution of the mechanical, actuation, controls, perception and other AI systems that underpin safe and reliable bipedal locomotion, manipulation and interaction, to ensure their workstreams are integrated into the overall programme plan, as well as other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a structured delivery and product-oriented mindset, and the ability to operate confidently across a diverse stakeholder landscape.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the full lifecycle programme management of the humanoid robot fleet solution development & deployment – from planning, design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing to launch, early to mass deployment, version update to obsolescence or repurposing.
- Act as the central coordination point between Product, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Development and Finance to align resources, schedules, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain programme plans, risk registers, dependency maps, and stage gates to ensure structured and transparent delivery.
- Champion best-in-class governance, reporting, and communication processes to ensure all stakeholders remain informed and engaged.
- Identify and mitigate programme risks and issues early to maintain momentum and resolve delivery challenges.
- Support the Product Department in defining scope, prioritisation, and trade-off decisions throughout the development & deployment cycles.
- Drive alignment between cross-functional teams and facilitate decision-making to unblock issues across technical and operational domains.
- Own programme budget planning and management across development, testing, tooling, and deployment phases – building and maintaining the budget, tracking actual spend against plan, forecasting variances, managing change control on cost impacts, and reporting budget performance to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with Engineering's Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to drive delivery of the bipedal locomotion, whole-body control, sensor integration, and safety/certification workstreams – ensuring their technical plans and test campaigns are reflected in the overall programme schedule and dependencies, with progress reported transparently to stakeholders. TPMs own the detailed technical execution and design decisions; this role owns the programme-level integration, sequencing, and accountability for outcomes.
- Work with Engineering TPMs, Supply Chain, and Finance to manage the commercial, budget, and schedule aspects of supplier/partner relationships for critical bipedal subsystems (actuators, gearboxes, batteries, sensors), and to translate technical KPIs (e.g. locomotion performance, MTBF, production readiness) into programme-level cost, schedule, and quality reporting.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Design Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in programme or project management roles within technology or product development environments, preferably in Robotics or Consumer electronics environments, having followed different stages of product lifecycles.
- Formal project management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, multi-disciplinary hardware and/or software product development programmes.
- Strong experience in managing cross-functional teams spanning engineering, operations, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment, driving clarity and direction across multiple teams.
- Experience owning or managing programme budgets for complex hardware/technology programmes, including cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience partnering with technical/engineering leads (e.g. Technical Programme Managers) on complex hardware programmes – ideally including legged or bipedal robotics, or closely related fields such as locomotion research or actuator-driven mechatronic systems – with enough technical fluency (actuators, controls, sensors, robotics safety standards) to translate technical risk into programme impact and make informed scope and trade-off decisions, without requiring hands-on engineering ownership.
Nice to have:
- Direct experience working on or managing a bipedal or legged humanoid robot programme, from prototype through to production and deployment.
- Experience with mass-production ramp-up of complex robotic or mechatronic hardware, including supplier qualification and manufacturing scale-up.
- Familiarity with simulation-to-real transfer, digital twin practices, or reinforcement-learning-based control as used in modern humanoid development.

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Software & Autonomy to support the definition, architecture, integration, and verification of the software systems that enable our humanoid robotic platform.
The role will work across perception, localisation, navigation, artificial intelligence, motion planning, controls, ROS 2 platform software, simulation, deployment, and diagnostics. You will collaborate with software leads and subject matter experts to translate product and operational needs into coherent capabilities, requirements, architectures, interfaces, integration plans, and verification criteria.
This is a systems engineering position focused on the robot’s software and autonomy stack. It is not primarily a firmware development or electrical engineering role.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Obtain input from system leaders, product teams, and technical subject matter experts to translate stakeholder needs into clear and verifiable system and software requirements.
- Define the software capabilities required to support humanoid robot behaviours, operational use cases, and product objectives.
- Decompose system-level capabilities across perception, navigation, AI, planning, controls, core platform, and supporting software services.
- Develop and maintain the functional and logical architecture of the robot’s software and autonomy stack.
- Define system boundaries, responsibilities, dependencies, and interfaces between software components and technical teams.
- Establish interface requirements covering data ownership, message definitions, coordinate frames, units, timing, latency, synchronization, quality indicators, fault handling, and degraded operation.
- Support architectural decisions involving, middleware, compute allocation, networking, simulation, software deployment, and distributed execution.
- Coordinate integration across perception, navigation, AI, controls, platform software, firmware, electronics, sensors, actuators, and mechanical systems.
- Identify cross-team assumptions, dependencies, architectural conflicts, and missing functionality before they become late-stage integration issues.
- Define integration stages, entry and exit criteria, required test environments, and readiness expectations.
- Lead or support the investigation of complex system-level issues involving multiple software components or interactions between software and hardware.
- Define nominal, degraded, recovery, fallback, and safe-state behaviours for software-intensive functions.
- Develop system-level verification and validation strategies for autonomous robotic capabilities.
- Establish measurable performance and acceptance criteria for perception, localization, navigation, planning, controls, AI, and integrated robot behaviours.
- Support scenario-based testing using simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, laboratory testing, and physical robot testing.
- Maintain traceability between use cases, requirements, architecture, implementation, tests, and verification evidence.
- Work with safety engineers to ensure software behaviours support system safety requirements and hazard mitigations.
- Facilitate requirement, architecture, interface, integration, and system-readiness reviews.
- Communicate technical risks, capability limitations, integration status, and architectural trade-offs to engineering and program leadership.
- Coach engineering teams in practical systems engineering methods appropriate for an iterative robotics development environment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or a related field.

- Experience defining measurable acceptance criteria for complex system behaviours.
- Ability to investigate issues spanning algorithms, software, computing, networking, firmware, sensors, actuators, and physical robot behaviour.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and technical communication skills.
Experience with humanoid robots, mobile robots, autonomous vehicles, industrial robotics, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with ROS 2 topics, services, actions, quality-of-service policies, lifecycle management, TF, rosbag, and distributed execution.
- Familiarity with C++, Python, Linux, Git, CI/CD, containers, and modern software development workflows.
- Experience with simulation tools such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with SysML, model-based systems engineering, or software architecture modelling.
- Familiarity with functional safety, SOTIF, machinery safety, cybersecurity, or safety assurance for autonomous systems.
- Understanding of machine-learning performance, uncertainty, dataset coverage, and scenario-based validation.
