How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As a Strategic Account Executive (Life Sciences) at Anthropic, you'll join the foundational team introducing our frontier AI platform to the world's leading life sciences organizations. You'll drive adoption of safe, frontier AI by securing strategic, enterprise-scale deals across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research organizations. You'll leverage deep life sciences sales expertise to grow revenue while becoming a trusted advisor to industry stakeholders — helping them embed AI into R&D, clinical development, and commercial workflows, and uncovering its full range of capabilities. Working closely with Product and Marketing, you'll continuously sharpen our value proposition, sales motion, and market positioning for life sciences decision-makers.
The ideal candidate is energized by building a new category in an established, highly regulated industry — identifying high-potential accounts across pharmaceutical, biotech, and research organizations, and running the strategies to win them. By driving deployment of Anthropic's emerging products into life sciences enterprises, you'll help these organizations unlock new capabilities while advancing the responsible development of AI.
Key responsibilities
Own a book of strategic, high-value accounts across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research organizations, carrying and exceeding an individual revenue target
Engage personally with C-level and senior technical stakeholders (CIOs, CTOs, Heads of R&D, Heads of Data/AI) — building business cases and value narratives, and navigating complex procurement, security, regulatory, and legal review through to production deployment and expansion
Identify and prioritize high-potential opportunities within your accounts, building and executing account plans that turn strategic relationships into committed revenue
Run a disciplined pipeline and forecasting cadence — accurate deal inspection, clear next steps, and predictable, coachable execution across a high-value, long-cycle book of business
Partner closely with Applied AI, Solutions Architecture, and Product to design solutions, prove value quickly, and translate life sciences-specific needs — R&D, clinical development, commercial — into product and roadmap input
Codify winning use cases, proof points, and reference stories from your deals, partnering with Marketing and Enablement to help scale them across the broader life sciences motion
Orchestrate cross-functional and partner motions with Customer Success, Legal, Partnerships, and cloud partners to deliver a seamless customer experience, and represent Anthropic as a visible, trusted voice with customers and at industry events
Minimum qualifications
5+ years of enterprise sales experience in life sciences, with demonstrated success covering bio, pharma, and research organizations
A track record of carrying and exceeding quota in enterprise sales of technical, complex products (API-first platforms, cloud infrastructure, data/ML platforms, or enterprise SaaS)
Experience winning and growing strategic enterprise accounts, including building C-suite relationships, within life sciences (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or research organizations)
Operational rigor across complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles — balancing velocity with deal quality and forecasting accurately in fast-changing environments
Credibility with technical buyers and builders — CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, Heads of AI/ML — and experience pairing effectively with solutions architects and applied AI teams
A genuine interest in deploying AI responsibly and motivation to advance Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI
Preferred qualifications
Experience bringing generative AI or LLM-based products, or other emerging platform technologies, to large pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies
Deep familiarity with regulated-industry selling — GxP compliance, data governance, regulatory and compliance-driven procurement, security review, and the governance expectations of pharma/biotech organizations
Experience selling with and through cloud and ecosystem partners such as AWS, Google Cloud, and global systems integrators
Familiarity with consumption- or usage-based commercial models and value-based pricing conversations
Experience navigating long, multi-stakeholder enterprise cycles (12+ months) typical of biopharma R&D and drug development procurement

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
We're looking for a research engineer who believes that visual and spatial reasoning are core to fully unlocking the capabilities of LLMs. On the Vision team, you'll own the end-to-end process of creating training data and RL environments targeting visual knowledge work: identifying long-horizon and vision-heavy tasks, building evals, designing rewards, and scaling data. This is a unique role that combines applied research with hands-on data work. It's also highly collaborative — you'll partner with external vendors, pretraining, RL, and product teams to make sure the environments you build translate into real-world knowledge work capabilities.
What you'll do:
Own the data strategy for vision capabilities end-to-end, from building evals and scaling RL environments
Manage technical relationships with external data vendors, including writing task specifications, evaluating visual data and annotation quality, and iterating on reward design
Develop and improve QA frameworks that catch reward hacking and ensure environment quality at scale
Run generalization experiments to measure how data strategy changes improve multimodal capabilities on held-out evaluations
Partner with pretraining, RL, and product teams, and do the science that shows we’re all rowing in the same direction
You may be a good fit if you:
Have 7+ years of ML, computer vision, and software engineering experience through industry, academia, or other projects
Have experience with reinforcement learning, reward design, or training data curation for large language or vision-language models
Are familiar with the architecture, training, and operation of large vision language models
Are comfortable managing technical vendor relationships and iterating quickly on feedback
Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact
Care about the societal impacts of your work
Strong candidates may also have experience with:
Designing evals or benchmarks for LLMs or vision language models
Large-scale pretraining, SL, and RL on language models
Deep learning research on images, video, or other modalities
Developing complex agentic systems using LLMs
Large-scale ETL and data pipeline development
Representative projects:
Writing a vendor-facing specification for a new family of visual RL training tasks, then iterating with the vendor on coverage, quality, and reward design
Running experiments to determine ideal training datamixes and parameters for a synthetically generated vision dataset
Finetuning Claude to maximize its performance using a particular set of agent tools/skills
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

We are looking for research engineers to build the safety and oversight mechanisms that govern how our models handle biological knowledge. As a bio safety researcher, you will spend your time: designing and running capability evaluations against frontier models, generating and curating training data for our safety classifiers, training and iterating on those classifiers alongside our ML engineers, and measuring how they hold up against adversarial pressure in production traffic.
This work sits at the intersection of applied ML and biosecurity. You will help define what responsible AI safety looks like in the biological domain, translating threat models into evals, datasets, and deployed systems. The core technical tension you will own is precision: safeguards need to be robust against sophisticated actors while staying out of the way of the far larger population of legitimate researchers using Claude to accelerate life sciences work. Getting that tradeoff right is an empirical problem, and you will be the person measuring it.
You do not need to be an ML researcher today. We are looking for strong scientific programmers with real depth in modern biology who want to bring that depth to bear on model evaluation and classifier development.
Key responsibilities
Design, build, and run capability evaluations to assess what new models can do in the biological domain, and turn results into concrete deployment recommendations
Develop training and evaluation datasets for our safety classifiers, working with internal and external threat modeling experts to ground them in realistic risk
Train, tune, and iterate on safety classifiers with ML engineers, optimizing jointly for adversarial robustness and low false-positive rates
Build the tooling and pipelines that make evaluation and classifier development fast and repeatable
Analyze classifier and eval performance against production traffic, identify gaps, and prioritize improvements
Design and run red-teaming and stress-testing of safeguards as threats, models, and product surfaces evolve
Partner with Research, Product, and Policy teams to embed biological safety throughout the model development lifecycle
Contribute to external communications including model cards, blog posts, and policy documents
Track developments in biology, ML, and biosecurity for their potential to create new risks or enable new mitigations
Minimum qualifications
Strong proficiency in Python, and extensive background in scientific programming and data analysis skills
Excellent grasp of ML fundamentals and an ability to rapidly adopt ML development practices
Excellent knowledge of modern biology across both measurement and engineering: high-throughput assays and functional characterization, as well as gene synthesis, genome editing, strain construction, and protein engineering
Ability to build and maintain your own tooling rather than relying on others to implement your ideas
Experience designing quantitative experiments or evaluations and drawing defensible conclusions from noisy results
Strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with dual-use research concerns and biosecurity frameworks, such as select agent regulations, the Biological Weapons Convention, or Australia Group guidelines
Comfort with ambiguity and with shifting priorities as AI capabilities change
Can work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with cross-functional teams
Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact
Thrive in a fast-paced research environment where you balance rigorous scientific standards with rapid iteration
Preferred qualifications
Experience working with large language models, including prompting, fine-tuning, or evaluation
Experience training or deploying classifiers or other ML systems in production
Experience developing ML methods for biological systems or biological data
Familiarity with adversarial robustness, red-teaming, or safety evaluation of ML systems
Have at least 8 years of hands-on experience in life sciences, with deep expertise in areas such as molecular biology, drug discovery, or computational biology
Experience leading complex technical projects across multiple stakeholder groups
