You’ll drive architecture and technical strategy across our Go backend and React/TypeScript web frontend — partnering across teams to ship features that hold up under strict security, compliance, and reliability requirements
.
Our engineering culture is AI-forward. We expect engineers to work fluently with AI coding agents such as Claude Code day-to-day — for scaffolding, refactors, code review, and test generation — and treat that as core craft rather than a shortcut. We would rather hire smart people who get stuff done than chase an exact tech-stack match. If you have a track record of shipping and owning complex software end-to-end, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Do
Define and drive the technical architecture and roadmap for Mattermost’s core web platform across multiple engineering teams, spanning Go, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Redis
Set org-wide standards and best practices for AI-agentic engineering workflows — going beyond personal fluency with tools like Claude Code and Cursor to shape how the broader engineering org adopts them, while retaining accountability for correctness, security, and design decisions
Lead the internal tooling and testing infrastructure strategy that speeds up delivery for the broader engineering org, not just your immediate team
Own the testing strategy and quality bar across frontend and backend systems, and hold other engineers accountable to it through design reviews and mentorship
Drive architectural decisions for REST and WebSocket API design, grounded in deep networking fundamentals
Partner directly with security, compliance, and product leadership on strategic technical bets tied to our government and enterprise customer requirements
Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical multiplier across the org
Contribute to and help shape technical direction for Mattermost’s open-source codebase

Required:
Senior full-stack development experience in Go and React (or a comparable stack), with a track record of owning complex systems end-to-end
Proven experience designing and owning distributed systems or high-availability service architecture at scale
Experience designing and consuming REST and WebSocket APIs with solid networking fundamentals
Relational database experience including PostgreSQL, schema design, and query optimization
Hands-on daily fluency directing AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot for scaffolding, refactors, code review, and test generation — with the judgment to know when to trust the output and when to take the wheel yourself
Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without relying on formal authority
Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar for a broader team
Comfortable operating in regulated or high-compliance environments (e.g., enterprise security, government, or critical infrastructure requirements)
Nice to Have:

ABOUT DOCKER
Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world's largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.
We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.
_______________________________________________________________________
THE ROLE
Secure Build builds and operates the infrastructure behind Docker's container builds. The team owns Docker Build Cloud and Docker Hub Automated Builds while developing the next generation of trusted build and CI capabilities. Its direction is to make Docker the trusted place CI runs: isolated execution, brokered access to secrets and networks, and verifiable evidence of what each build or test job did. The work spans Go services, container and build technology, cloud infrastructure, sandboxing and software supply-chain security, alongside the operational responsibility for production systems customers already depend on.
SCS Services builds the backend systems and product capabilities that help developers understand, secure and ship software with confidence. The team powers important parts of Docker Scout and Docker Hardened Images, including the services and workflows that turn supply-chain data into useful developer, customer and agent experiences. Its estate is deliberately polyglot, with Clojure and Go services, event-driven workflows, Kafka, legacy Datomic components and newer Spanner-backed services. It also supports the customer journey around discovering, assessing, subscribing to and managing hardened artefacts.
We are looking for one Engineering Manager to lead both teams. Together they sit at the centre of Docker's secure software supply-chain work: one creates trusted build outcomes, while the other turns build, artifact and dependency data into services and experiences used across Scout and Docker Hardened Images. This is a two-team leadership role with separate roadmaps, production responsibilities and technical domains. The teams should deliver independently, with explicit contracts and joined-up ownership where their services connect.
You will own the health, delivery and growth of both teams and make the trade-offs that keep them effective as a portfolio. You will not be expected to be the deepest expert in every language or domain. You will need enough technical breadth and current engineering judgement to engage credibly in designs, reviews and incidents across both teams, set direction with strong senior engineers, and recognise when the right answer is to create space for their expertise.
_______________________________________________________________________
THE KIND OF PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate leads first. They are an experienced engineering manager who can inherit two capable teams, earn trust quickly and help each become a high-performing, value-delivering part of the wider Docker organisation. They are deliberate about where they spend their attention, protect both teams from becoming the second priority, and make portfolio trade-offs visible rather than allowing urgency, proximity or the loudest stakeholder to decide.
They stay close to the technical work without trying to own every technical decision. They can hold a substantive conversation about distributed backend systems, event and data pipelines, build and CI infrastructure, trust boundaries and production operations. They are active in design and review, useful during incidents and willing to get hands-on where that moves the work forward. The balance still tilts strongly to leadership, coaching, delivery and organisational judgement.
They care about security as a product and engineering property, not only as compliance. They understand how modern attacks exploit identity, secrets, dependencies and build systems, and they can reason about the evidence customers need to trust an artefact or workflow. They lead through judgement, clarity and unblocking rather than ceremony for its own sake. Above all, they grow the engineers around them and help both teams ship outcomes developers and enterprises can rely on.
_______________________________________________________________________
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Secure Build and SCS Services, owning delivery, team health, growth, performance and operational excellence across both.
- Turn two changing roadmaps into a coherent portfolio plan with explicit priorities, capacity and trade-offs, and create leadership coverage so neither team becomes the permanent second priority.
- Partner with Product to shape strategy and roadmaps for secure build, Docker Scout, Docker Hardened Images and the services that connect them.
- Stay close to the technical work through design and code review, incident response and selective hands-on contribution where it adds leverage.
- Ensure each team's technical direction supports product, security, reliability and customer priorities, setting it collaboratively with Staff and senior engineers while leaving clear decision ownership with them.
- Own the interfaces between the teams, including trust boundaries, contracts, data quality, versioning, operational ownership and customer-facing failure modes.
- Balance new product work with inherited systems and on-call, and invest in reliability improvements driven by recurring operational pain.
- Own engineer growth and performance, handle difficult conversations directly, hire and retain strong people and build succession depth within both teams.
- Align Product, Design, Security, DHI Content, Registry, Hub, sales, support, commercial and legal partners while shielding the teams from churn.
- Lead disciplined use of AI-assisted engineering and communicate decisions, risks and progress clearly across UK and US working hours.
_______________________________________________________________________
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years managing high-performing engineering teams, with meaningful responsibility across more than one team or distinct technical domain.
- 8+ years of professional, hands-on software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, platform or developer tooling.
- Experience leading, growing and retaining engineers at or above your own technical seniority, including teams you did not build and difficult performance conversations.
- A leader-first operating model, with current enough technical judgement to participate in design and review across unfamiliar systems without needing to be the best engineer in the room.
- Experience prioritising across competing roadmaps, operational load and stakeholder commitments, with clear mechanisms for allocating attention and capacity.
- Strong backend and distributed-systems judgement, including APIs, event-driven architectures, data stores, cloud-native infrastructure and production operations.
- Understanding of CI or build-system internals, containers and artefact workflows, plus a strong interest in software supply-chain security and trust boundaries.
- Experience leading teams that operate production infrastructure through on-call, incident response, observability, SLOs and the work required to reduce recurring operational load.
- Strong product judgement and evidence of shaping roadmaps with Product rather than only receiving requirements.
- Clear written and verbal communication, strong cross-functional influence, customer closeness and comfort leading a remote-first organisation across European and US time zones.
HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Experience with Go, Clojure or both, and evidence of becoming effective across a polyglot estate.
- Experience with Kafka, Spanner, Datomic or comparable event-streaming and distributed-data systems.
- Experience with OCI, BuildKit, Buildx, GitHub Actions or comparable build and CI platforms.
- Experience with sandboxing, microVMs, untrusted workload execution or multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Experience with SLSA, in-toto, SBOMs, VEX, Sigstore, cosign, provenance, signing or vulnerability scanning.
- Experience evolving legacy systems while shipping new capability for developer tools, security products, regulated customers or software-agent workflows.
_______________________________________________________________________
WHAT TO EXPECT
FIRST 30 DAYS
- Build relationships with every engineer and the Product partners for both teams before changing structure, process or roadmap.
- Understand Secure Build's product direction, production estate and on-call load, including Docker Build Cloud and Docker Hub Automated Builds.
- Understand the SCS Services products, customers, architecture and operational profile, and map the dependencies, trust boundaries and ownership lines between the teams.
FIRST 90 DAYS
- Own a coherent portfolio plan with both teams and Product, including explicit capacity for roadmap, reliability and cross-team work.
- Establish a sustainable operating cadence and leadership coverage that prevents either team depending on your constant presence.
- Agree ownership and escalation paths for shared services and failures, start one material improvement in each team and make progress and risk visible.
ONE YEAR OUTLOOK
- Both teams deliver predictably against a portfolio that connects secure build, Scout and Docker Hardened Images outcomes without collapsing their distinct missions.
- Secure Build has delivered material trusted-build or secure-CI capability and reduced operational risk in its inherited production systems.
- SCS Services has delivered material customer outcomes, while both teams have sustainable on-call, clearer ownership and senior engineers leading broader work.
Visa sponsorship: Docker considers visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis based on business needs.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who is pragmatic, product-minded, and equally comfortable writing code and running production systems to join our Infrastructure department's SRE team. The best candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and exceptionally dynamic setting and is excited to own the application-level infrastructure and reliability of a high-traffic commerce domain end to end - from deploy pipelines and Kubernetes manifests to SLOs, capacity planning, and production readiness.
Strong Kubernetes, observability, and software engineering skills are essential, along with experience in operating production services in a cloud environment (GCP/GKE or comparable) and partnering closely with product development teams. The ability to hold a dual perspective - understanding both how developers ship features and what infrastructure needs to stay reliable - and to bring the reliability lens into design decisions early will be key to your success in this role.
If you're passionate about making complex distributed systems boringly reliable and love building the commerce and monetization backbone that lets game developers around the world get paid, we would love to hear from you!
ABOUT US

From indie to AAA, companies partner with Xsolla to help them fund, distribute, market, and monetize their games. Grounded in the belief in the future of video games, Xsolla is resolute in the mission to bring opportunities together, and continually make new resources available to creators. Headquartered and incorporated in Los Angeles, California, Xsolla operates as the merchant of record and has helped over 1,500+ game developers to reach more players and grow their businesses around the world. With more paths to profits and ways to win, developers have all the things needed to enjoy the game.
For more information, visit xsolla.com.
Responsibilities
Own the application-level infrastructure: Helm charts, Terraform configurations, Kubernetes deployments, runtime configuration, and service-level networking and integrations
Own the domain's observability: design and implement SLOs/SLIs, monitors, alerts, and dashboards for critical services on Datadog and OpenTelemetry-based tooling
Help to set up and evolve CI/CD pipelines for domain services (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), including deploy and rollback automation
Perform capacity planning and performance tuning ahead of expected load - product launches, sales events, and regional rollouts - including load testing and performance regression investigation
Run Production Readiness Reviews for new services and major changes; define and enforce what "production-ready" means for the domain
Support domain incident response: assist with deep investigation of complex incidents, contribute to post-mortems, drive follow-up reliability improvements, and maintain runbooks
Build domain-specific automation that reduces operational toil: runbook automation, deploy helpers, recurring operational scripts
Maintain and drive a forward-looking reliability roadmap for the domain together with product engineering leads
Participate in product team planning, refinements, and architecture reviews, bringing the reliability perspective before design decisions become expensive to change
Co-author company-wide SLO/SLI, capacity, and operational standards together with the broader SRE team; contribute improvements directly to shared SRE-operated subsystems
Participate in the SRE duty rotation, supporting developers across the company
Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of proven SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering experience: on-call or incident response duty, SLO/monitoring ownership, deploy pipeline and infrastructure work for production services
Software development background: you have built and shipped backend services, not only operated them - comfortable reading application code during an investigation and writing production-quality automation in at least one language (e.g., Go, PHP)
Hands-on Kubernetes experience: Helm, manifests, deploy strategies, debugging application-level performance and networking issues (GKE or another managed Kubernetes)
Solid observability practice: building monitors, dashboards, and SLOs/SLIs on a modern platform (Datadog preferred; Prometheus/Grafana experience also relevant), familiarity with OpenTelemetry
Infrastructure as Code exposure (Terraform/Terragrunt) for collaboration with platform teams
GCP experience (IAM, networking, managed services)
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI and/or GitHub Actions)
Programming/scripting proficiency sufficient to build automation and tooling (e.g., Python, Go, or Bash)
Practical experience with incident response, post-mortems, and driving reliability improvements from incidents
Strong collaboration and communication skills — this role works embedded with product development teams daily
Experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, or gaming — high-traffic transactional systems
Nice to Have:
Kubernetes certifications
Google Cloud Platform certifications
HashiCorp certifications

About Scorewarrior
Scorewarrior is an independent game studio with a single mission: to excite and unite players all over the world. For over 10 years they've been pursuing it through Total Battle — a product they continue to actively and successfully grow. The team consists of 230 self-motivated professionals who know and love their craft, and the company has recently begun an active company-wide adoption of AI tools. Their home is a great office in Limassol, Cyprus. They offer a strong relocation package for you and your family, and put real effort into making life on the island genuinely varied and interesting.
Location & format:
Onsite — Limassol, Cyprus. Full relocation support provided.
The mission of this role:
This is a hands-on engineering role: you design and implement solutions yourself, working side by side with Infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams. Leadership experience is not required here and not expected.
Key objectives:
— Strengthen cloud and infrastructure security in practice: secrets management, audit logging and controlled production access.
— Close high-impact risks: start from an honest assessment of the current state and build a consistent picture of gaps and risks as you go.
— Work secure-by-default: wherever possible, remove the security burden from teams through automation and platform-level solutions rather than rules and manual procedures.
— Roll up your sleeves: dive into what Infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams are building right now, understand it from the inside, and make security part of it.
Job requirements:
— Real experience building platform and infrastructure security — you have designed and implemented security solutions yourself: not audited or monitored them, and you can walk us through the architecture, the decisions, and what you'd do differently.
— Cloud security as your core strength: Recent hands-on experience securing cloud environments.
— A strong infrastructure background. You may have grown entirely within security engineering or moved into security from DevOps, SRE, system administration, or network engineering. What matters is that your thinking is an engineer's thinking: architecture first, building over prescribing.
— The ability to explain risks with facts. You have real cases where you make technical teams see why a risk matters and why a change is needed through evidence, architecture, and concrete scenarios.
— AppSec, SIEM, and SOC experience are useful but secondary.
Nice to have:
— Infrastructure-as-Code in practice.
— Container and Kubernetes security experience.
— Scripting and automation as a habit: Python, Go, or Bash — you'd rather automate a control than write a procedure for humans to follow.
— GCP specifically. Their stack is GCP; deep experience with it will shorten your path to impact, though strong AWS/Azure experience translates well.
— Experience with securing AI tool usage.
Who this role is NOT for:
— Your current focus is on monitoring, alert triage and incident analysis.
— Your specialization is threat research, malware analysis, cryptography, or lab-style cybersecurity.
— Your recent work is mostly paper security: policies, compliance documents, and audits.
— You are looking for a management track or ownership of a security function right now — strategy and team building belong to the security leadership role they're hiring separately.
Why join Scorewarrior?
— 99% employee satisfaction, low turnover, and colleagues who genuinely enjoy collaborating.
— Live and work in sunny Cyprus with full relocation and visa support for you and your family.
— Shape a global hit: the only European studio with a 4X strategy title in the world’s top-10.
— Grow fast in a company that’s already strong, independent, financially rock-solid, and expanding at startup speed, with no layoffs.
— Flat structure, collective decision-making, and honest feedback create full transparency and help you grow fast.
— High salaries, a 13th month, performance bonuses, and extra rewards for long service, marriage, or welcoming a child, and lunch every day.
— Private family health insurance, plus a monthly allowance for children’s pre-school, school, and university education.
— Specialized training and certifications, language courses and books to support your growth.

The team consists of 230 self-motivated professionals, and the company has recently begun an active company-wide adoption of AI tools. The office is located in Limassol, Cyprus, with full relocation support provided.
The mission of this role
To build a viable, right-sized security system for Scorewarrior that protects what matters without slowing the company down, owning it end-to-end: from diagnosis and strategy to implementation, team, and culture.
Key objectives
— Build a viable security system across core domains: IAM (access management, MFA, SSO), infrastructure security (cloud, services, network), foundational SDLC/AppSec (security in development and code), and related processes and training.
— Start with a proper diagnosis of the current landscape and design a system tailored for the company.
— Own security risks and communicate effectively with both business leaders (CTO, CEO) and technical teams (developers, infrastructure).
— Make informed build-vs-buy decisions regarding security tools and methods.
— Introduce security as a partner, embedding baseline practices smoothly without blocking teams.
— Define safe usage policies and guardrails for company-wide adoption of AI tools.
— Build and grow the security team deliberately, hiring the first security engineers with clear rationale.
Job requirements
— 8+ years of hands-on experience in security with real projects designed, implemented, and maintained.
— Real systems experience, either through a stable security engineering career or transition from system administration, technical support, or network engineering.
— Proven experience hiring and building a team (2+ people) with deliberate structure.
— Experience building a security function from unclear state to working system, including assessment, prioritization, and implementation.
— Strong awareness of the security product market and ability to choose appropriate tools or methods.
— Partner-style operating approach, working through engineering teams without blocking or mandatory authority.
Nice to have
— Experience in B2C products, SaaS platforms, gamedev, or mobile apps with company size up to 1,000 people.
— Experience working with external security providers.
— Familiarity with common security frameworks.
— Experience as the first or founding security hire in a company.
Who this role is NOT for
— Those focused mostly on policies, reports, and committees without recent hands-on systems experience.
— Those operating with hierarchical authority, mandatory sign-offs, and blocking by default.
— Those who replay the same security project regardless of company context.
— Those who avoid building and leading a team.
What success looks like
— Clear diagnosis of the security landscape and a plan trusted by CTO.
— Security system working quietly with embedded baseline practices and improved protection.
— Security function growing deliberately with well-structured team.
Why join Scorewarrior?
— 99% employee satisfaction, low turnover.
— Office-first team in Limassol with modern seaside workspace and full relocation and visa support.
— Opportunity to shape a global hit game.
— Financially stable and expanding company with no layoffs.
— Flat structure with collective decision-making and honest feedback.
— Industry-leading rewards including high salaries, bonuses, and benefits.
— Support at every life stage including private family health insurance and education allowances.
— Priority on personal growth with training, certifications, language courses, and books.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Security Engineer, you'll cover a broad range of operational and strategic security work rather than a single narrow specialty. In your first few months, you'll focus on learning Eneba's tech stack and understanding how our services and systems fit together. - Write and maintain security policies and documentation.
- Communicate security requirements and risks clearly to non-technical departments
- Review application monitoring and logs to catch and investigate anomalies
- Support access governance and permission-management processes.
ABOUT THE TECH
The tech stack is the same one our backend teams work with. You're not expected to know all of it on day one, but you should expect to be learning how to use most of it within your first 3 months, and you'll also be working across other languages and systems used throughout the company as your role demands.

- Security knowledge, or a clearly demonstrated interest in security (bug bounties, CTFs, security blogs, following the security community)
- A background in IT, backend engineering, or a related technical field
- Self-sufficiency - comfort taking ownership of tasks and making progress without constant guidance.
- Ownership mentality and strong problem-solving skills
- Openness to learning and working across multiple systems, languages, and technologies rather than staying in one lane

An overview of this role
As a Backend Engineer on the Plan: Spec-Driven Development team, you'll help build GitLab's intent-to-code loop: agentic workflows that turn a stated intent into a refined work item, an implementation plan, and verified, mergeable code. You'll own early-stage backend work across the flows, application programming interfaces, data models, and evaluation systems behind this experience, using Ruby on Rails, Python, PostgreSQL, GitLab Duo Agent Platform, large language model application programming interfaces, and an artificial intelligence gateway.
You'll join a small, distributed team working on one of GitLab's highest-visibility product bets, collaborating with design partners toward a public beta. In your first year, you'll lead major features from an unclear problem through release, help shape scope with product and users, mentor other engineers, and influence technical decisions across agent workflows and evaluation methods.
What you’ll do
Lead backend features from early product discussions through technical design, implementation, rollout, and post-launch learning.
Build the flows, application programming interfaces, and data models behind agent-generated work items, implementation plans, durable specifications, and mergeable code.
Develop evaluation and benchmarking systems that measure workflow quality, token cost, and success rate.
Use Ruby on Rails and Python to build reliable production systems, with PostgreSQL, GraphQL, representational state transfer, GitLab Duo Agent Platform, large language model application programming interfaces, and an artificial intelligence gateway.
Collaborate directly with product, design, engineers, design partners, and users to shape scope and make practical trade-offs.
Coordinate multi-person projects across the team and communicate decisions clearly in GitLab's asynchronous, all-remote environment.
Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical direction across the Plan group and related artificial intelligence initiatives.
Work in short iterations, share progress through demos, and use results and user feedback to guide what comes next.
What you’ll bring
Strong Ruby on Rails experience in a large production codebase and production experience with Python.
Experience driving substantial projects with several engineers over multiple months, with clear user or business outcomes.
A product mindset and experience owning features end to end, including shaping scope, making trade-offs, engaging with users, and learning from adoption after launch.
A full stack background with a current focus on backend engineering, plus the ability to read modern frontend code and design effective APIs.
Strong application programming interface design and structured query language fundamentals.
Experience exploring artificial intelligence-assisted development.
The ability to work independently, collaborate across functions and regions, and support others through technical leadership and mentoring. Experience with GraphQL, PostgreSQL performance at scale, or building and evaluating large language model or agent systems is helpful but not required.
We welcome candidates with different backgrounds and transferable experience. If you're excited about the role but don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply.
About the team
We are a team of four engineers, with two backend and two frontend engineers across Canada and Europe. You'll work in an all-remote, async-first environment with weekly sync calls, retrospectives, demos, and short iterations. This is early-stage work with broad ownership, space for creativity, and a fast pace. For more about our team and its work, see

ABOUT MATTER LABS
Matter Labs builds private settlement infrastructure that lets regulated institutions settle directly with each other without exposing data, ceding control, or waiting days. Global finance moves $4 quadrillion a year on systems designed for paper and telex. The institutions that built them - from clearing houses to exchanges to the world's largest banks, institutions are now actively replacing them.
Our core product, Prividium, gives each institution its own private settlement environment (a Prividium Zone) with independent governance and built-in interoperability across counterparties, asset classes, and jurisdictions. Settlement happens through zero-knowledge proofs: one party proves a transaction is valid without revealing any underlying data to the counterparty. The only private settlement infrastructure built on zero-knowledge cryptography.
Founded in 2018. Backed by a16z and Union Square Ventures. A fully remote team of around 70 with eight years of production zero-knowledge infrastructure behind us, now pointed at the biggest problem in institutional finance.
THE ROLE
You will protect ZKsync's core: smart contracts, ZK circuits, and blockchain nodes. Your reviews, threat models, and incident work decide whether vulnerabilities are found by us or by attackers. The role owns internal security reviews of critical components, threat modeling, adversary research, and the security side of incident response, and it carries broad license to spot gaps and fix them beyond any assigned list. It is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who wants to know how things break and applies that instinct ethically where the stakes are high.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Break things on purpose. Threat-model and review Solidity contracts, blockchain state transition functions in Rust, and other critical systems before an attacker gets the chance.
- Own protocol components. Take responsibility for the secure architecture and implementation of the components you adopt, from design review through production.
- Track the adversary. Follow hacks, exploits, and new attack vectors across the industry and convert the lessons into concrete improvements in our systems.
- Scale security through others. Embed secure-design practice across development teams and influence architecture decisions early, without formal authority.
- Use AI on defense. Apply modern AI systems to scale security work, while accounting for attackers using the same tools.
- Respond when it counts. Join security investigations and incident response, often under time pressure with incomplete information.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Each of these is a demonstrated capability, shown through work you have done:
- A record in security engineering or security research: threat modeling, security-focused code review, or vulnerability research on production systems, with findings you can walk through mechanism by mechanism.
- Proficiency in strongly typed languages such as C++, Go, or Scala. Rust and Solidity are our primary languages, and prior experience with them is not required.
- Deep grounding in algorithms and data structures, including their computational and memory complexity, with experience implementing them from scratch.
- Protocol-level debugging and root-cause analysis on complex distributed systems.
- Working knowledge of recent security incidents in the blockchain space and the prevention techniques behind them.
- Clear written and spoken English, the company's working language.
If you meet most of these and believe you can do this job, apply anyway.
NICE TO HAVE
Hands-on experience with Solidity smart contracts, ZK circuits, or core blockchain protocols. Public security research, audit reports, bug-bounty results, or CTF history all count as evidence.
WORK MODEL & PAY
- Competitive base salary. Matter Labs applies no geographic pay discounts.
- Performance-based variable compensation with a defined annual target is additional. The plan may pay in ZK tokens or cash. A long-term token incentive is also additional and is paid in ZK tokens, with new-hire grants vesting over four years and a one-year cliff.
- Fully Remote. Occasional travel to team gatherings and industry events.
- Freedom & ownership culture: no time tracking (where legally applicable), minimum bureaucracy-only results matter.
