Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to own the test methodology for HMND‑01’s hardware components, robot subsystems, and complete humanoid robots. You will be the engineer who decides what “good” looks like — from a single actuator on the bench to a full robot walking through an integration sequence.
This is a hands-on, technical leadership role. You will design test methods, run them yourself on early prototypes, and partner closely with the test automation team, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, and Supply Chain Quality as we move from EVT toward production. You’ll be the hardware voice that shapes what gets measured on the line, at what tolerance, and why — without owning the QC routine or rig build, which sit with Production Ops Quality and Manufacturing Engineering respectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. TEST METHOD DEFINITION
- Component-Level Methods: Define functional, performance, and stress tests for individual hardware components — actuators, sensors, electronics, structural parts — including pass/fail criteria and required data capture.
- Subsystem Testing: Design integration tests for major robot subsystems (arms, hands, legs, torso, head) covering kinematic accuracy, repeatability, load behavior, and thermal response.
- Whole-Robot Testing: Define and execute system-level tests for full robot assemblies, including end-to-end motion sequences, balance, manipulation tasks, and failure-mode behavior.
2. HANDS-ON TEST EXECUTION
- Prototype Bring-up: Be the first engineer to put hands on each new hardware revision, characterizing performance against design intent and feeding findings back to the design team.
- Failure Analysis: Investigate failures during testing, work with hardware engineers to root-cause issues, and verify fixes.
- Test Documentation: Capture methods, results, and learnings in a way that the rest of the organization can repeat and trust.
3. AUTOMATION SUPPORT
- Test Automation Inputs: Translate manual test methods into specifications for the automation team. Decide which tests can be automated and which must remain manual, and why.
- Tooling: Specify and prototype custom test fixtures, jigs, and instrumentation needed to execute your methods reliably during prototype and bring-up work.
- Data: Define what each test must capture so that automated runs produce results comparable to your manual baseline.
4. PRODUCTION TEST — IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING AND PRODUCTION OPS
- Requirements for Line Rigs & Jigs: Provide the technical requirements for production test jigs, fixtures, and test beds — what they measure, at what tolerance, what data they need to capture, and the pass/fail criteria. Manufacturing Engineering owns rig design, build, and commissioning; you review designs and sign off on whether they actually verify what they’re meant to verify.
- In-Process Verification: Define the checks at each stage of assembly that confirm components and sub-assemblies have been built correctly before they move to the next station, including required measurements and rework paths for failures.
- Test Evidence & Traceability: Define what each production test must capture so that results, measurements, and pass/fail outcomes are written to the production database, linked to the serial number of the unit under test — every shipped robot has a complete and queryable build and test history.
- System-Level Acceptance: Define final-product acceptance tests — performance envelopes, functional gates, and sign-off criteria for a robot leaving the line.
5. QUALITY & DESIGN FEEDBACK LOOP — IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SUPPLY CHAIN QUALITY AND PRODUCTION OPS QUALITY
- Component Performance Characteristics: Define the system-level performance characteristics that incoming parts must meet. Supply Chain Quality translates these into incoming inspection criteria and supplier qualification plans, and runs the inspection process.
- Root-Cause Partnership: Partner with Production Ops Quality on root-cause analysis when line failures trace back to component behavior or system design, and feed findings back into engineering.
- Closed Loop with Design: Treat test data as a closed loop with design — surface trends from production into design reviews so the product gets better, not just the process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have:
- Experience: 5+ years in hardware test engineering, with hands-on testing of complex electromechanical systems — robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar.
- Test Methodology: Strong grasp of test theory, test design, and pass/fail criteria definition. You can write a test spec that another engineer can execute without follow-up questions.
- Mechanical: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, common core components (gears, bearings, actuators), measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, load cells, encoders), and technical drawings including GD&T basics.
- Electrical: Comfortable reading schematics, using a multimeter and oscilloscope, and reasoning about basic power and signal integrity.
- Production Fluency: Familiarity with hardware production operations — flow, takt, work instructions, traveler documentation — enough to collaborate effectively with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Ops without trying to own their work.
- Tooling: Experience with test and task tracking systems (Jira, X-Ray, TestRail, or similar).
- Matrix Operating Style: Comfortable influencing test stations, rigs, and equipment design through clear requirements and tight partnership, not through ownership.
- Mindset: Systems thinking — you naturally see how a problem at the component level can manifest as a behavior at the full-robot level.
Nice-to-Have:
- Robotics experience, especially with serial-link manipulators or legged systems.
- Hands-on test rig and fixture design experience (mechanical and/or electrical) — useful for speaking the same language as Manufacturing Engineering on rig requirements.
- Python (or similar) for ad-hoc data analysis and lightweight test automation.
- CAD (SolidWorks/Fusion/NX) for sketching test fixtures.
- Familiarity with ROS2.
- Experience with embedded systems and field buses such as CAN or EtherCAT.
- Experience with industrial automation equipment (servos, gateways, sensors, PLCs).
- Knowledge of statistical quality control fundamentals (SPC, MSA) — for working effectively with Quality on test data interpretation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE TESTING
- Actuators (motors, gearboxes, encoders, drivers)
- Robot manipulators and end-effectors
- Legged subsystems and balance behaviors
- Power and battery systems
- Full humanoid robot assemblies
WHAT WE OFFER
- Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of annual leave (accrued), 15 days of paid sick leave, and paid company holidays.
- Fully funded private healthcare for UK employees, with broad provider access, virtual and in‑person care, and strong mental health and serious illness support.
- Equity included–we believe builders should share in what they build.
- Pension scheme with a total 8% contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in‑office.
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.

We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Low-level Control Engineer to join our Control Team in London, focusing on control development and integration for our end-effectors.
You will design, implement and validate actuator- and joint-level controllers and grasp-level behaviours across a family of end-effector variants - parallel and multi-finger grippers, vacuum and suction tooling, and purpose-built tooling for specific customer tasks. Each variant brings different actuation, different sensing and, critically, different transmission mechanisms: geared direct drives, cable- and tendon-driven routings, differential and coupled linkages, and underactuated designs where few actuators must produce adaptive, compliant grasping across many degrees of freedom.
The ideal candidate has a solid background in control theory, strong software engineering skills in C++, and comfort working from real-time embedded control up through kinematics/dynamics and hardware debugging. You will work closely with mechanical and hardware engineers - early enough in the design cycle that your input shapes actuation and transmission choices rather than merely inheriting them.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Low-Level Control Development:
- Tune and validate actuator- and joint-space control loops (PID, feedforward, impedance/admittance, observers, state feedback) for multi-DoF end-effectors in ROS2.
- Develop grasp-level behaviours: grasp force control, compliant closing, slip detection and correction, and adaptive grasping on underactuated grippers.
- Implement safety and fault-handling mechanisms — thermal and over-current protection, stall and jam detection, grip-loss detection, safe behaviour on fault.
Transmission Mechanisms, Modeling & System Identification:
- Build and identify models of actuators, transmissions and mechanisms - geared, cable/tendon-driven, differential, coupled and underactuated - including compliance, friction, backlash, hysteresis, cable stretch and pretension effects.
- Own the joint-to-actuator abstraction for these mechanisms and the correct exposure of joint versus actuator state through the control stack.
- Contribute directly to transmission mechanism design: work with mechanical engineers on routing, reduction ratios, DoF coupling and underactuation strategy, bringing the controllability and observability consequences of each option into the conversation early.
Sensor & Hardware Integration:
- Integrate and calibrate end-effector sensing (F/T, tactile, encoders, temperature/current, vacuum feedback) with real-time acquisition across the control stack.
- Hands-on bring-up and debugging of new end-effectors, including test-stand work and vendor-supplied units.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:
- Close the loop with mechanical/electronics engineers across sites on actuation, transmission and sensing requirements.
- Work with data collection, applications and deployment teams so end-effectors work reliably in real use.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Shipped real-time-safe, object-oriented C++ control software running on real hardware.
- Tuned and validated controllers on physical actuators, including sensor calibration and bring-up.
- Modelled, identified and controlled through real mechanical transmissions - gearing, cables/tendons, differentials, coupled linkages or underactuated mechanisms - and dealt with the compliance, friction and backlash they introduce.
- Worked on end-effectors or comparable multi-DoF mechanisms, including grasp control and supporting sensing.
- Debugged at the fieldbus and OS layer: e.g. EtherCAT or CAN, on an RTOS or real-time Linux.
- Strong control theory foundation (linear/nonlinear control, stability, observers, state estimation, feedback/feedforward, filtering, frequency-domain analysis) applied to multi-DoF mechanisms via Jacobians, numerical IK/FK, and URDF/Xacro.
Nice to have:
- BLDC motor control (commutation, current control, torque optimization).
- ros2_control internals (hardware interfaces, controllers, controller_manager, plugins, lifecycle nodes).
- Tendon- or cable-driven mechanisms specifically, including pretension management, routing friction and wear behaviour.
- Tactile sensing integration; vacuum and suction tooling, including multi-cup arrays and grip-loss handling.
- System identification toolchains and simulation environments (MATLAB/Simulink, MuJoCo, Isaac Sim).
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our Control Team in Boston.
You will own how we know our controls stack works: the testing and validation infrastructure that turns "it looked fine on the robot" into measured, reproducible evaluation, the observability and failure analysis that makes runtime behaviour visible and failures shareable, and the documentation and runbooks that let the team self-serve without institutional knowledge. You will also strongly contribute to first-time bring-up of new hardware for Boston components and validate changes end-to-end on real robots before the wider team depends on them.
The ideal candidate has strong control fundamentals, solid software engineering discipline across the stack - from control code to test harnesses to diagnostic tooling - and the debugging instincts that only come from real hardware. You will work across the whole control stack and be the person the team relies on to tell them the truth about their code.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Testing & Validation Infrastructure:
- Build and own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and integration test workflows that quantify controller and motion repeatability and accuracy - turning "it looked fine on the robot" into measured, reproducible evaluation.
- Define and implement repeatability and accuracy metrics for controller and motion changes, and the harnesses that make those measurements consistent across runs and across robots.
- Expand unit and integration test coverage across the controls components the team actually runs - actuator drivers, hardware interfaces, whole-body control, and the teleoperation pipeline.
- Develop automated regression checks that surface controls regressions - in accuracy, repeatability, or behaviour - in simulation and on hardware before they reach the wider team.
- Work with controls engineers to define testability requirements for new components and algorithms, so things are built to be evaluated and validated.
- Package controllers into cleanly separable, reusable, and easily testable interfaces - so individual controllers can be developed, swapped, and validated in isolation.
New Hardware Bring-Up & Integration:
- Strongly contribute to first-time bring-up of new hardware for Boston components, and to their integration into the controls stack.
- Validate hardware and software changes end-to-end on real robots before broader team use - structured, documented, and repeatable.
Debugging, Observability & Failure Analysis:
- Instrument the controls stack to improve visibility into runtime behaviour - logging, tracing, and diagnostic tooling.
- Reproduce hardware and software failures in structured, developer-shareable formats; feed structured root-cause context back to algorithm and hardware owners.
- Identify and resolve cross-stack failure modes that span controls, firmware, and hardware.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:
- Write and maintain engineering documentation for the controls stack: HIL and test coverage, and bring-up/integration guides for new hardware.
- Own runbooks that let controls engineers self-serve validation, integration, and recovery without relying on institutional knowledge.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Substantial hands-on robotics experience on real hardware.

Humanoid is seeking a highly driven and experienced Product Program Manager to join our Product Department. This critical role will lead the end-to-end development and delivery programme and relevant product-related projects for Humanoid's next-generation bipedal humanoid robot fleet solution – from Alpha prototype to production version, and from early adoption to mass deployment and further to different version obsolescence.
As the anchor for the development, launch and deployment process, you will drive cross-functional coordination across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure that the solution is delivered on-time, on-cost, on-quality, and on-spec.
This is a highly collaborative role, requiring deep expertise in programme delivery and budget management across both technical and non-technical workstreams, as well as in product lifecycle for products that combine cutting edge hardware and software technologies. You will work closely with Engineering's Technical Program Managers (TPMs), who own the detailed technical execution of the mechanical, actuation, controls, perception and other AI systems that underpin safe and reliable bipedal locomotion, manipulation and interaction, to ensure their workstreams are integrated into the overall programme plan, as well as other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a structured delivery and product-oriented mindset, and the ability to operate confidently across a diverse stakeholder landscape.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the full lifecycle programme management of the humanoid robot fleet solution development & deployment – from planning, design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing to launch, early to mass deployment, version update to obsolescence or repurposing.
- Act as the central coordination point between Product, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Development and Finance to align resources, schedules, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain programme plans, risk registers, dependency maps, and stage gates to ensure structured and transparent delivery.
- Champion best-in-class governance, reporting, and communication processes to ensure all stakeholders remain informed and engaged.
- Identify and mitigate programme risks and issues early to maintain momentum and resolve delivery challenges.
- Support the Product Department in defining scope, prioritisation, and trade-off decisions throughout the development & deployment cycles.
- Drive alignment between cross-functional teams and facilitate decision-making to unblock issues across technical and operational domains.
- Own programme budget planning and management across development, testing, tooling, and deployment phases – building and maintaining the budget, tracking actual spend against plan, forecasting variances, managing change control on cost impacts, and reporting budget performance to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with Engineering's Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to drive delivery of the bipedal locomotion, whole-body control, sensor integration, and safety/certification workstreams – ensuring their technical plans and test campaigns are reflected in the overall programme schedule and dependencies, with progress reported transparently to stakeholders. TPMs own the detailed technical execution and design decisions; this role owns the programme-level integration, sequencing, and accountability for outcomes.
- Work with Engineering TPMs, Supply Chain, and Finance to manage the commercial, budget, and schedule aspects of supplier/partner relationships for critical bipedal subsystems (actuators, gearboxes, batteries, sensors), and to translate technical KPIs (e.g. locomotion performance, MTBF, production readiness) into programme-level cost, schedule, and quality reporting.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Design Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in programme or project management roles within technology or product development environments, preferably in Robotics or Consumer electronics environments, having followed different stages of product lifecycles.
- Formal project management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, multi-disciplinary hardware and/or software product development programmes.
- Strong experience in managing cross-functional teams spanning engineering, operations, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment, driving clarity and direction across multiple teams.
- Experience owning or managing programme budgets for complex hardware/technology programmes, including cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience partnering with technical/engineering leads (e.g. Technical Programme Managers) on complex hardware programmes – ideally including legged or bipedal robotics, or closely related fields such as locomotion research or actuator-driven mechatronic systems – with enough technical fluency (actuators, controls, sensors, robotics safety standards) to translate technical risk into programme impact and make informed scope and trade-off decisions, without requiring hands-on engineering ownership.
Nice to have:
- Direct experience working on or managing a bipedal or legged humanoid robot programme, from prototype through to production and deployment.
- Experience with mass-production ramp-up of complex robotic or mechatronic hardware, including supplier qualification and manufacturing scale-up.
- Familiarity with simulation-to-real transfer, digital twin practices, or reinforcement-learning-based control as used in modern humanoid development.

We are looking for a Senior Software Serviceability Engineer to own the software and AI dimension of serviceability for our humanoid robots. Product Services Engineering makes sure the robot is designed to be maintained — and that when it needs service, it can be diagnosed and repaired quickly, safely, and at low skill in the field. You will own that mission for everything software: diagnostics, firmware and bootloader serviceability, and the diagnostic content behind our remote-diagnostics (Digital Shadow) platform.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on role. You will validate the software and AI dimension of every service procedure before it reaches production, build the diagnostic tooling that lets our Remote Services and Repair Centre teams find faults fast, and act as part of the single engineering interface between Services and R&D.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Own Design-for-Serviceability for software: ensure the robot’s software, firmware, and AI stack can be diagnosed, updated, and recovered in the field with minimal skill.
- Collaborate with R&D to build and validate diagnostic scripts, tooling, and self-test routines that localise faults as deep as possible in the BOM.
- Define and own the software diagnostic content in the Digital Shadow platform: remote diagnostics, fleet-pattern detection, and AR-guided execution.
- Validate the software and AI dimension of service, repair, calibration and OTA procedures before production release.
- Own firmware, bootloader, and calibration serviceability, including recovery paths for failed updates.
- Support New Services Introduction (NSI) for software, and act as the single point of entry from Services into R&D for software escalations.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Strong software engineering for robotics or embedded systems: ROS2, Bash, and Ubuntu/Linux, with bootloader/firmware workflows.
- Proficiency in Python (and ideally C++) for diagnostics, tooling, and automation.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing robots or complex electromechanical systems — you can tell whether a fault is software, firmware, calibration, or hardware.
- Working understanding of sensor and actuator stacks (2D/3D LiDAR, RGB cameras, motors/actuators) from a software and diagnostic perspective.
- A design-for-serviceability mindset — you think about the technician in the field, not just the happy path.
- Disciplined engineering practice and version control (Git).
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience deploying AI/ML on robots and diagnosing model or behaviour issues in the field.
- Familiarity with remote-diagnostics or fleet-telemetry platforms.
- Experience authoring service documentation or work instructions consumed by non-engineers.
- Exposure to Design-for-Serviceability / DfMA on a hardware product line.

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Serviceability Engineer to own the electrical and electronics dimension of serviceability for our humanoid robots. Product Services Engineering ensures the robot is designed to be maintained — modular, repairable, and serviceable at low skill in the field. You will own that mission for everything electrical: power distribution and batteries, wiring and harnesses, connectors, sensor and actuator drive electronics, and compute — including how faults are diagnosed, how systems are safely isolated, and how parts are replaced and reworked at the right BOM level.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on role. You will validate the electrical and electronics dimension of every service procedure before production, define the diagnostic points and safe-working practices that let our field and Repair Centre teams work quickly and safely, and act as part of the single engineering interface between Services and R&D.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Own Design-for-Serviceability for electrical and electronics: drive accessibility, connectorisation, safe isolation, and low-skill field-executability into the product before design is locked.
- Define and validate electrical repair, rework, and replacement procedures at the correct BOM level — module/assembly for the field, deeper for the Repair Centre — across power distribution, batteries, harnesses, sensor and actuator electronics, and compute.
- Specify the diagnostic points, test equipment, and safe-isolation / lockout procedures needed to service the robot’s electrical systems safely and repeatably.
- Define the electrical diagnostic content in the Digital Shadow platform — localising power, sensing, and actuation faults as deep as possible in the BOM.
- Lead the electrical and electronics input to Service Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (S-FMEA) and feed serviceability requirements back into design.
- Support New Services Introduction (NSI) for electrical scope, and act as the single point of entry from Services into R&D for electrical escalations.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Electrical or electronics engineering background with hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing complex electromechanical products or robots.
- Strong grasp of power distribution, battery systems, wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors (LiDAR, cameras), and actuator drive electronics from a maintainability standpoint.
- Confident reading schematics and wiring diagrams, using electrical test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, and similar), and defining safe-isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Design-for-Serviceability experience: connectorisation, diagnostic access, fault isolation, and modularity of electrical assemblies.
- A field-first, safety-first mindset — you design for the technician who has limited time, tools, and training, and for whom electrical safety is paramount.
- Comfort working across the full BOM hierarchy, from full-robot diagnosis to board- and component-level repair.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with humanoid or legged robotics electrical systems.
- Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), high-current power electronics, and functional-safety considerations.
- Experience with calibration-after-repair for sensors and actuators.
- Exposure to spare-parts / service-replaceable-unit (SRU) strategy and refurbishment loops.
- Experience introducing serviceability into a product moving from prototype to mass production.
