Company Description
We’re http://checkout.comCheckout.com http://Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.
Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
Checkout.com http://Checkout.com will grow you faster than you expect - the deals, the pace, and the people demand it. If you've ever felt a role never let you show what you're truly capable of, this is the opposite problem: meaningful deals with some of the UK's and the world's biggest brands, real autonomy, and no ceiling on what you can take on.
You'll join the Solutions team in London and own the technical side of deals from first conversation to go-live. Pre-sale, you're front and centre: positioning the platform, building demos and POCs, winning over the merchant's engineers and architects while your Account Executive drives the commercial thread. Once the deal is ready, the weight shifts: our Implementation Engineers lead the build and you stay close, so your designs survive contact with reality.
You'll work on a modern, fast-moving platform with docs that answer your questions, alongside one of the strongest commercial teams in payments.
People who do well here are curious by default: they pull threads, teach themselves what the job needs next, and act before anyone asks. If that's how you work, you'll like it here.
What you will be doing:
- Support the commercial team to position Checkout.com http://Checkout.com's products, solutions, and services - and win deals. You'll be a key partner to Account Executives on product, payments, regulation, and tech.
- Understand merchant requirements and technical needs, map them to our APIs and products, create solution designs and internal documentation.
- Run demos, build "show-me" payment flows, create POCs, customise and create presentations.
- Provide thought leadership on all aspects of Payment Performance - Acceptance Rate, Fraud Prevention, Tokenisation, Payment Methods, and others.
- Lead all technical interactions with merchants - chats, calls, meetings, and workshops - from first contact through go-live, partnering with our Implementation Engineers during integration.
- Support the BID management team with RFP and RFI responses.
- Enable internal functions, commercial and tech, with market and merchant feedback on product capabilities. Champion product change and improvement.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, solutions, and tech.
- Be an expert on Checkout.com http://Checkout.com's platform and products.
About You:
If the list below looks like you, apply.
Experience
- 2+ years as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales Consultant, Implementation Engineer, or TAM. At a PSP or payments company is a bonus.
- Merchant-side counts too: checkout engineering, an in-house payments team, a payments product role.
- Experience in a technical, client-facing role.
Payments and technical skills
We need real depth in one of the two areas below and the appetite to close the gap on the other. If payments is your strength, this job will make you more technical, you'll need to want that. Strong coder lighter on payments: payments can be taught, you'll have time.
Payments:
- Understanding of the end-to-end payment flow and the industry's rules, regulations, and schemes.
- Experience with 3DS, Network Tokenisation, Apple/Google Pay, APMs, Open Banking, or fraud-risk engines.
Tech:
- You can code and you're comfortable with web technologies - payments run on the web. At least one front-end (JavaScript, React, Angular) or back-end (Java, .NET, Python, Node) language.
- Familiar with API-based integration (REST/JSON, Postman); can reproduce, isolate, and explain issues using logs, API responses, and tests.
How you work
- Clear written and verbal English; equally at home with developers and product teams as with payments, finance, and C-level stakeholders.
- Commercially minded: you talk revenue, volume, and pricing, not just APIs, and push deals forward without being asked.
- Highly organised; able to prioritise shifting workloads.
Nice to have:
- Previous exposure to RFI/RFP processes.
- Familiarity with PSD2/PSD3/PSR, FCA, ISO-8583.
- An additional language.
- Former engineering, developer, or product manager background.
- Prior roles in the e-commerce industry.

Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow defined processes and frameworks while flagging exceptions appropriately.
Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback and coaching from senior teammates and manager.
The ability to travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, customer meetings, etc.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Requirements
We're looking for a Senio/Staff-level engineer with an open mind and a builder's instinct - someone who goes beyond executing tasks and is ready to own the High-Performance practice end-to-end: establish engineering processes, drive R&D, evaluate and champion new technologies, and lead their adoption in production.
The ideal candidate can bridge the gap between business requirements for low latency and high throughput and the realities of existing infrastructure - translating "we need to be faster" into an actionable technical roadmap. You bring a fresh perspective, know how to organize the work, and are equally comfortable optimizing a hardware parameter and presenting a strategy to stakeholders.
We expect 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps/SRE/Systems Engineer in performance-critical environments - and the maturity to grow yourself and grow a team around you.
Linux:
Advanced administration and OS-level tuning — real-time OS configurations, cgroups, CPU isolation, memory management, and low-level network stack configuration.
Hardware Internals:
Deep understanding of CPU power and performance states (C/P-states), Hyper-Threading / SMT trade-offs, TX/RX ring configuration, and the full data path from NIC through PCIe to memory and CPU. Ability to reason about and tune each stage of that path under production load.
Networking & TCP Internals:
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP — congestion control, ACK behavior, buffer tuning, and protocol-level latency sources. Strong Linux networking fundamentals: low-latency NIC configuration, bypass networking technologies (DPDK, RDMA), and market connectivity (multicast feeds, co-location networks, VPNs).
Performance Engineering:
Practical experience profiling latency-sensitive systems; familiarity with tools such as perf, flamegraph, strace, tcpdump, eBPF, and hardware performance counters.
Containerization:
Deep knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including low-overhead deployment patterns and performance trade-offs of containerized workloads.
IaC:
Proven track record with Ansible, Terraform, and Helm in production environments.
Monitoring:
Hands-on experience with the Prometheus / Grafana stack; ability to build latency-aware dashboards and alerting (P99, jitter, throughput KPIs).
Scripting:
Solid scripting in Bash and Python; Golang is a strong plus given its role in systems tooling.
CI/CD & Secret Management:
Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines with experience integrating performance validation stages; familiarity with Vault for secrets management.
Security:
Understanding of DevSecOps principles and Kubernetes security policies.
Key Performance Metrics You'll Work With
Latency Distribution
- P99 / P99.9 across the tick-to-trade path, using hardware-level timestamps (NIC/PTP).
Jitter
- variance between min/max latency, measured over large sample sets in live market conditions.
Throughput
- messages per second (orders + cancels) under exchange burst scenarios.
System Reliability
- сontinuous monitoring of uptime
Extra Credit / Big Pluses
Hands-on experience with kernel-level optimization: syscall reduction, network stack bypass (DPDK, RDMA, Solarflare OpenOnload).
Background in HFT, algorithmic trading, or other ultra-low-latency production environments.
Experience with hardware timestamping, PTP/IEEE 1588, and precision time synchronization.
Familiarity with colocation operations and exchange connectivity (cross-connects, proximity hosting).
Proven SRE track record with formal SLO/error budget frameworks in latency-sensitive contexts.
DevSecOps: vulnerability scanning, Zero Trust, RBAC, and secure delivery pipelines.
Understanding of business processes in FinTech, crypto, or electronic trading.
Responsibilities
Low-Latency Infrastructure Ownership:
Design, deploy, and continuously optimize infrastructure for latency-sensitive trading systems — market data handlers, order/deal gateways, and risk check engines. Own the full stack from bare metal to application delivery. Define and maintain a reference architecture for low-latency connectivity when onboarding new trading venues, including reproducible configuration baselines, validation procedures, and performance acceptance criteria — so every new venue goes live on a proven, optimized stack.
Cloud & Hybrid Network Connectivity:
Design, implement, and maintain complex low-latency network solutions for cloud provider interconnects - including cross-connects and Direct Connect / ExpressRoute links between cloud regions, hybrid on-premise/cloud topologies, and high-throughput inter-server fabrics. Ensure both latency minimization and fault tolerance at every layer: physical redundancy, failover routing, and path diversity across providers and regions.
Hardware & OS Stack Tuning:
Go deep on the full hardware and OS stack - CPU pinning, C/P-states, HT/SMT configuration, NUMA topology, IRQ affinity, TX/RX ring sizing, NIC offloading, and network stack bypass (DPDK/RDMA where applicable). Understand the complete data path from NIC through PCIe to memory and CPU - and optimize every hop.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Automate provisioning and configuration of high-performance environments using Ansible, Terraform, and Helm - with performance reproducibility as a first-class requirement.
Latency Profiling & Benchmarking:
Systematically profile and debug latency hotspots across the full execution path. Establish and maintain SLA/SLO targets; track P99/P99.9 distributions, jitter, and throughput - not just averages.
CI/CD for Performance:
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that include automated latency regression testing, so performance degradations are caught before they hit production.
Monitoring & Observability:
Design and operate comprehensive latency monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana) - including hardware timestamping (NIC/PTP) and fine-grained performance telemetry.
Colocation & Network Placement:
Research, evaluate, and manage optimal server placements - colocations, cross-connects, proximity hosting. Work closely with network and infrastructure teams to minimize physical and logical distance to exchanges.
High Availability & DRP:
Design systems that maintain stability and reliability under peak load while continuously pushing latency lower - zero regressions, always.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
Work alongside algo developers, quant teams, and network engineers to ensure trading strategies execute with minimal infrastructure overhead.
Working terms
Immerse yourself in Crypto & Web3:
Master cutting-edge technologies and become an expert in the most innovative industry.
Work with the Fintech of the Future:
Develop your skills in digital finance and shape the global market.
Take Your Professionalism to the Next Level:
Gain unique experience and be part of global transformations.
Drive Innovations:
Influence the industry and contribute to groundbreaking solutions.
Join a Strong Team:
Collaborate with top experts worldwide and grow alongside the best.

The future of Web3 starts with you: join us as a DevOps Engineer with Big Data Skills!
Requirements
We're looking for a DevOps engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience, at least 2 of them spent building and running data or analytics infrastructure. You've designed systems that move, store, and serve data at scale. Warehouse maintenance is part of your daily routine, and writing Python, Bash, or SQL scripts is second nature. You treat data security as a core responsibility: you protect confidentiality, enforce zero-trust, least-privilege access, and automate everything you touch. Solid IaC skills are a must.
IaC & CI/CD:
Production experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Helm, plus CI/CD systems (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD). We expect you to design pipelines, not just use them.
Containerization:
Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including running data workloads on it (like Spark on Kubernetes, stateful services, operators).
Cloud:
Solid experience with AWS (S3, EC2, EMR, Redshift, Glue, IAM) or an equivalent cloud provider.
Linux & Networking:
Solid Linux administration skills and foundational networking knowledge relevant to distributed systems.
Analytical Databases:
Hands-on operation of ClickHouse and/or the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, YARN), including cluster setup, tuning, and scaling.
Data Warehouses:
Practical experience with Snowflake or Redshift, covering warehouse sizing, workload management, performance tuning, and cost control.
Large Databases:
Experience administering databases at terabyte scale: replication, backup and restore strategies, partitioning, and migrations with minimal downtime.
SQL & Scripting:
Strong SQL skills, including reading execution plans and optimizing heavy queries. Confident in Python and Bash for automation, data parsing, and investigation.
Data Lakes & Object Storage:
Working knowledge of S3-compatible storage, columnar formats, partitioning strategies, and data lifecycle management.
Orchestration & Streaming:
Familiarity with Airflow (or similar orchestrators) and Kafka, and how they fit into data pipelines.
Extra Credit / Big Pluses
Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Superset, or similar BI tools, including administration, performance tuning, and data source design.
Hands-on experience with dbt and analytics engineering practices.
Experience with open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi) and query engines like Trino/Presto or Athena.
FinOps experience in data platforms: managing Snowflake credits, Redshift clusters, and storage costs at scale.
Spark performance tuning and job optimization.
Change data capture (CDC) with Debezium or similar tools.
Data quality tooling (Great Expectations, Soda) integrated into CI/CD.
Golang or Rust tooling experience.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance (GDPR, data retention, PII handling).
Understanding of business processes in the FinTech/Banking/Crypto sector.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Ownership:
Own the infrastructure behind our data and analytics platform, from provisioning to daily operations. Keep it reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient as data volumes grow.
Infrastructure as Code:
Provision and configure all data infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
CI/CD Pipelines:
Build and maintain delivery pipelines for both infrastructure and data code (ETL jobs, Airflow DAGs, dbt models, schema migrations), with automated testing, safe rollouts, and fast rollback.
Database & Warehouse Operations:
Maintain ClickHouse, Snowflake, Redshift, and вPostgreSQL at multi-terabyte scale, handling replication, backups, upgrades, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
Data Lake Storage:
Manage S3-compatible data lake storage, including partitioning, file formats, and lifecycle policies.
Automation & Script Optimization:
Refactor and automate Python, Bash, and SQL scripts to cut runtimes and eliminate manual work.
Performance & Cost:
Right-size clusters and warehouses, tune heavy queries, and keep compute and storage spend under control.
Monitoring & Alerting:
Cover data infrastructure with metrics, logs, and alerts for cluster health, pipeline SLAs, and job failures.
Security & Access Control:
Enforce least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption, and auditability for sensitive data.
BI Infrastructure:
Support the infrastructure behind Tableau or similar BI tools.
Big Data Platforms:
Deploy, tune, and troubleshoot Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka clusters in production.
Collaboration:
Work with data engineers, analysts, and developers to turn their workloads into solid infrastructure decisions.
Security & Access Control:
Implement role-based access, secrets management, encryption at rest and in transit, and auditability for sensitive datasets in line with regulatory requirements.
