About Vercel:
Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company, freeing people and agents to ship what's next. For more than a decade we've helped builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience.
Now we're scaling our products for both agents and people to ship and run software, built in the open and trusted by OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Finance Manager, Sales to join our Finance team. You will be a key partner to Sales and RevOps leadership, helping shape metrics-driven decision making across Sales budget and headcount, commissions, SLG bookings, quota planning, capacity, and productivity. This role will have high cross-functional visibility and will be central to building the financial discipline, operating cadence, and scalable reporting needed to support Vercel’s next stage of growth.
What you'll do
Serve as the trusted Finance partner for the CRO by delivering actionable insights through forecasting, scenario analysis, business reviews, and resource allocation recommendations
Own Sales budget and headcount planning, including bottoms-up workforce models that connect hiring plans, ramp timing, productivity assumptions, commissions, and compensation costs to bookings and revenue goals
Support SLG bookings and quota planning by partnering with Sales and RevOps on quota capacity, ramp, attainment, coverage, territory design inputs, and productivity assumptions
Support commissions planning, forecasting, and reporting in partnership with Accounting, RevOps, and Sales leadership, including commission expense, accruals, plan changes, and performance insights
Lead Sales BvA reviews and operating cadences, translating financial results into clear variance narratives, risks, opportunities, and recommendations
Improve Sales Finance reporting and tooling by building scalable dashboards, templates, and processes that reduce manual work, improve forecast accuracy, and surface key risks earlier
What you need
Commercially sharp and analytically rigorous
– You understand how Sales and RevOps teams operate and can connect SLG bookings, quota planning, pipeline, capacity, attainment, productivity, commissions, headcount, and spend to the company’s financial plan.
Anti-bureaucracy, pro-speed
– You streamline workflows, remove drag, and make decisions with clarity. You believe a 3-bullet Slack post with a clear recommendation is better than a 20-slide deck.
Tech-forward operator
– You go beyond Excel. You use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to automate, clean, and generate insights. You treat Finance like a product—always shipping improvements.
Detail-obsessed
– You know that a single error in quota capacity, ramp timing, commission logic, or start dates can swing the forecast by millions. You sweat the details so the CFO and Sales leaders don’t have to.
Strong cross-functional partner
– You can build trust with Sales leadership while maintaining financial discipline, communicating tradeoffs clearly, and driving decisions with data.
Benefits & Compensation:
Competitive compensation package, including equity.
Inclusive Healthcare Package.
Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.
Flexible Time Off.
We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. - Equity payroll reporting: Support equity and stock-exercise payroll reporting by tracking Carta exercise data, applying correct NSO/ISO tax treatment, and preparing payroll-side entries at quarter-end cutoffs.
- Reimbursements and systems integration: Manage the Rippling-to-NetSuite reimbursement approval chain, ensuring expense reimbursements route and post correctly across systems.
- Employee support: Serve as a first point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, resolving routine questions and escalating complex cases with context.
- Close and compliance support: Maintain clean, audit-ready documentation and support quarter-end and year-end close activities, including W-2s, ACA reporting, 401(k) true-ups, and year-end reconciliations.
- Process improvement: Identify and help implement process improvements that reduce manual work and strengthen controls as payroll volume and jurisdictional complexity increase.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally including multi-state US payroll; international or contractor payroll exposure is a plus.
- Experience establishing and managing US state agency accounts, including troubleshooting agency mailings and invoices for payment, and related account maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of California wage statement requirements, meal and rest break premiums, final pay timing rules, and other state-specific compliance considerations.
- Hands-on experience with a modern payroll/HRIS platform (Rippling, Workday, ADP, Gusto, or similar); Rippling experience preferred.
- Comfort with detailed reconciliation work across benefits deductions, 401(k) match calculations, and payroll-to-GL tie-outs, including strong Excel and Google Sheets skills and the ability to work accurately with large datasets.
- Working knowledge of US payroll tax compliance (SUI, SIT, federal and state withholding) and interest in learning cross-border payroll mechanics.
- Familiarity with equity compensation payroll (RSU, NSO, and ISO taxation) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through — this role exists to catch errors before they reach employees, not just process transactions.
- Clear communicator who can explain payroll and benefits topics to employees and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

THE ADVENTURE AHEAD
As a Senior Product Engineer, you bring strong expertise in either backend or frontend engineering alongside the ability and willingness to work across the full stack. You own features end to end, working across customer facing applications, services, APIs, and integration boundaries to deliver complete product outcomes.
Your primary strength may be building cloud native backend services and event driven systems, or developing complex frontend experiences and application architecture. We do not expect equal specialization in every part of the stack. We value strong fundamentals, depth in your primary area, and the ability to contribute effectively across system boundaries.
You work closely with Product, Design, QA, and other engineers to understand customer problems, make sound technical decisions, and take solutions from idea through production and iteration.
THE DAY TO DAY
- Own features end to end Take customer and product problems from discovery and technical design through implementation, production deployment, and iteration.
- Build across the stack Work across frontend applications, APIs, backend services, and integration layers to deliver complete customer outcomes.
- Bring technical depth Contribute strong expertise in your primary discipline while developing a broader understanding of the systems and technologies around it.
- Make good technical decisions Participate in architecture discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and shape solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and pragmatic.
- Stay close to the product Partner with Product and Design to understand customer needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence Contribute to strong testing, CI/CD, observability, code quality, and technical debt practices.
- Collaborate across functions Work with Engineering, Product, Design, QA, and platform teams to break down complex problems and deliver high quality software.
- Grow the team Support other engineers through code reviews, pairing, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
YOUR SUPERPOWERS
- Engineering depth and breadth Four to six or more years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in either backend or frontend engineering and practical experience across the broader stack.
- End to end ownership Experience taking features from technical design through development, deployment, and production support.
- Strong fundamentals A solid understanding of software design, APIs, application architecture, testing, and maintainable production software.
- Cloud awareness Experience with cloud environments such as AWS and familiarity with modern CI/CD and observability practices.
- Product mindset The ability to understand customer problems, navigate ambiguity, and balance technical quality with meaningful delivery.
- Collaborative communication The ability to explain technical tradeoffs and work effectively across Engineering, Product, Design, and QA.
BONUS POINTS
- Cloud and event driven systems AWS serverless technologies, asynchronous workflows, distributed systems, or event driven architecture.
- Infrastructure and delivery Infrastructure as Code using CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools, plus CI/CD or deployment experience.
- Frontend architecture Large frontend applications, component architecture, state management, design systems, accessibility, or performance.
- Backend breadth Node.js and TypeScript services or experience with Go, Python, PHP, or other backend technologies.
- Production observability Monitoring, tracing, structured logging, metrics, and production diagnosis.
OUR STACK
Our product teams work primarily with TypeScript across frontend and backend development. Frontend applications include Angular and modern web technologies. Backend and platform systems span Node.js, TypeScript, Go, PHP, Python, AWS, REST APIs, event driven architectures, relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD, and modern observability tooling.
You do not need deep expertise in every technology we use. We are looking for engineers with depth in a primary discipline, strong software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to become effective quickly in unfamiliar systems.
OUR HYBRID WORK PHILOSOPHY 🤝
Great work can happen anywhere but coming together helps us go further. Our team spends three days a week in the office (Tuesday-Thursday) to collaborate, solve problems, and learn from each other. WHO WE ARE
Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkpYpWfEK5s. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a member of the Corporate Finance team, you'll own the consolidated view of Notion's financial performance — the corporate model, the monthly close-to-reporting cycle, and the numbers that reach our executive team, Board of Directors, and investors. You'll immediately take ownership of core corporate FP&A workstreams, which include the consolidated P&L forecast, the monthly budget-vs-actual and reforecast cycles, and the planning systems that produce them.
This role is based San Francisco. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:
- Own the consolidated corporate model and the monthly reporting cadence — close actuals, budget-vs-actual, and the rolling reforecast — and connect reported performance to the revenue, headcount, and spend drivers behind it
- Maintain and evolve Notion's planning system, primarily Pigment: maintain the corporate model structure, run the monthly data loads and scenario snapshots, reconcile the P&L, headcount, and departmental views, and build new models and views as the business changes
- Assist in preparing and delivering presentations that effectively communicate Notion's financial performance and outlook to Notion's executive team, Board of Directors, and investors
- Raise the quality and scalability of our reporting infrastructure, using AI, automation, and stronger data workflows to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and surface insights faster — challenging existing processes and data inconsistencies that get in the way
- Work cross-functionally across Accounting, BizTech, People, and our Business Partnership (BP) Finance team to keep source data, mappings, and the chart of accounts aligned as operating complexity grows — tightening the handoffs between close and forecast along the way
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING:
- 2-5 years of experience across Investment Banking, Private Equity, Big 4, or corporate FP&A / Strategic Finance at a high-growth SaaS technology company
- Demonstrated ability to build and own rigorous financial models, ideally a three-statement or consolidated operating model for a recurring-revenue or SaaS business
- Hands-on experience with an enterprise planning tool (Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive, Vena) or a clear track record of becoming fluent in new systems quickly
- Strong analytical judgment and the ability to move from detailed data to a clear point of view on performance, risks, and opportunities
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial audiences
- Ability to build finance processes from scratch and improve existing ones with a lens on long-term scalability and sustainability
Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year.

A NOTE ON AI
You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY & ACCOMMODATIONS
We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. Notion is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. Consistent with applicable law, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Notion provides reasonable accommodations during the application process; if you need one, please let your recruiter know.
