- Location: Tokyo, Japan
- Department: ICEYE Japan
- Reports to: CEO, ICEYE Japan
- Employment type: Permanent
- Workplace model: Office
- Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
As Chief of Staff, you’ll become the strategic right hand to the Country Director of ICEYE Japan, turning executive priorities into coordinated action across sales, delivery, and government affairs. You’ll own the operating rhythm that keeps the Japan leadership team focused and accountable, and act as the connective tissue between local teams and ICEYE’s global functions in Finland. You’ll bridge Japanese business culture with a fast-moving international HQ, and drive high-stakes initiatives, from government tenders to market-entry projects, from first conversation through to delivery. This is a role building in one of ICEYE’s most strategically important markets.
WHO WE ARE
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the Country Director to define ICEYE Japan’s strategic priorities, OKRs, and annual business plan, and run the leadership team’s operating rhythm, including meetings, quarterly business reviews, and HQ/board reporting.
- Act as a trusted proxy for the Country Director on select internal and external matters, preparing briefing materials, decks, and talking points for executive, government, and customer engagements.
- Connect Japan-based sales, program management, and technical teams with ICEYE’s global functions (product, engineering, legal, finance, communications), ensuring Japan’s priorities are represented in global planning.
- Project-manage strategic initiatives, such as partnership launches, government tenders, and market-entry projects, from planning through execution.
- Support engagement with Japanese government agencies, disaster-response bodies, insurance partners, and industry associations, and help manage relationships with local advisors and vendors.
- Oversee office operations, budget tracking, and vendor/contract management for the Japan entity, in coordination with global finance and legal teams.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team-building as ICEYE Japan scales.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must haves:
- 10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, business operations, chief of staff roles, investment banking, or similar high-performance environments.
- Business fluency in Japanese and English, written and spoken, and comfortable operating in both languages in high-stakes settings.
- Demonstrated experience working with or alongside senior executives, with strong judgement on prioritisation and confidentiality.
- Excellent structured-thinking, project management, and executive communication skills (decks, memos, briefs).
- Strong cross-cultural fluency, able to bridge Japanese business norms with an international, fast-moving HQ culture.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and an ownership mentality typical of scale-up environments.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in aerospace, defence, geospatial/earth observation, insurance (particularly natural catastrophe/reinsurance), or government relations.
- Prior experience in a startup/scale-up, or within a multinational’s Japan subsidiary.
- Familiarity with Japanese government procurement processes and/or the disaster-management ecosystem.

About Wolt
At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
The Sustainability & Community Impact team at DoorDash works across our global brands — DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo — to advance the company's approach to the issues that matter most to our business, our communities, and the world we operate in. We sit within the Policy and Communications function and work closely with other teams on a daily basis.
We're hiring a
Lead, Global ESG Reporting Strategy
to build and lead DoorDash's global ESG reporting function from the ground up. This is a new role: the first dedicated strategic owner of ESG disclosures across the company. As regulations proliferate across jurisdictions (from the EU's CSRD to California's SB 253 to Australia's Modern Slavery Act), DoorDash needs someone to bring clarity, structure, and strategic thinking to a landscape that is growing in both volume and complexity.
The role spans more ground than a traditional ESG reporting function: alongside disclosure strategy and regulatory compliance, you'll own our GHG measurement program and Scopes 1 & 2 emissions strategy, and manage the growing volume of ESG data requests we receive from enterprise partners.
What you’ll be doing
You'll set the strategy, build the infrastructure, and become the internal expert on all things ESG reporting and disclosure.
Own DoorDash's
global strategy for ESG-related disclosures
— determining how, when, and at what level of ambition we respond to mandatory regulations, voluntary frameworks, and reputational expectations across all jurisdictions including the EU, UK, US, Canada, and Australia
Act as the internal expert and cross-functional DRI on ESG reporting, aligning Legal, Finance and Technical Accounting, IR, Communications, Policy, HR, and Operations around a coherent approach and holding the narrative and numbers together across all external-facing disclosures
Build the reporting infrastructure, processes, and governance needed for the company to meet its disclosure obligations efficiently and consistently — establishing what doesn't yet exist and improving on what does
Serve as the primary point of contact for enterprise partner ESG data requests, building processes to address a growing volume of vendor questionnaires, framework-specific data fields, and merchant-facing disclosures in a scalable way
Oversee GHG measurement — working closely with a measurement vendor, coordinating data collection across the business, and ensuring our approach is audit-ready as assurance requirements mature
Own DoorDash's Scopes 1 & 2 emissions strategy — building a forward-looking plan to drive operational efficiency across our facilities
Our humble expectations
Meaningful experience in ESG, sustainability reporting, compliance, or a closely related field — with hands-on ownership of major reporting frameworks such as CSRD/ESRS, TCFD, GRI, SASB, Modern Slavery, and/or CDP
A genuine builder mindset: you've created reporting infrastructure or processes from scratch before, not just maintained what someone else built (and you're energized by that kind of work)
Strong cross-functional influencer who can align stakeholders across Legal, Finance, IR, and Operations without direct authority, and who is comfortable being the person others look to for direction rather than waiting to be told what to do
Excellent written communication skills — you can draft a regulatory disclosure, write an internal strategy memo, and brief a senior stakeholder, all with equal fluency and appropriate calibration to your audience
A principled, business-grounded view of ESG: you take compliance seriously, bring genuine expertise to the space, and can advise leadership on where to invest and lead versus where meeting requirements is the right call
What we offer
This is a rare opportunity to build a new function and strategy, with real visibility across a global company. You'll be joining at an exciting moment: before the wave of regulatory requirements fully lands. The work is substantive and growing — from CSRD groundwork to enterprise partner data requests to our Scopes 1 & 2 strategy — and the cross-functional network you'll build (Legal, Finance, IR, Comms, Ops) means you'll have meaningful exposure from day one.
Next steps
Our process includes a short screener after resume review, followed by a series of interviews.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the Role
Fivetran and dbt are building the open data infrastructure that powers AI agents you can trust.
Fivetran is looking for a Senior R&D Software Engineer to join our fast-growing Fivetran AI team. Your data stack was built for humans — but agents are the new primary data consumers, and they have fundamentally different requirements. Agents can’t intuit context; it must be explicitly codified, governed, and traceable. We’re building the governed context layer that solves this problem: Agents Schema, an open standard for storing agent-ready context directly in the customer’s own data warehouse, and Context Builder, the managed service that keeps it filled and fresh.
This role goes well beyond standard engineering. You’ll research emerging techniques in the fast-moving AI landscape and bring real product and market understanding to decide which ideas are worth pursuing — and then you’ll take what you’ve learned and ship it as production software. We’re looking for a true generalist who is willing and able to wear whatever hat the moment calls for: prototyping a new retrieval technique one week, hardening a backend service the next, then doing SRE or QA work when the team needs it. Fivetran AI operates like a startup within Fivetran, and we need engineers who thrive on that range rather than staying in one lane.
Fivetran is the epitome of data-driven development — our engineering team is focused on building a world class product that:
Builds Infrastructure Agents Can Trust
— join our mission to deliver the governed context layer that AI agents depend on: accurate semantic definitions, traceable lineage, data contracts, and auditable history baked in from the start.
Embraces Open Standards
— help build portable, interoperable data infrastructure: Agents Schema, open formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake), MCP-native interfaces, and connector skills that work with any model and any compute.
Scales Without Breaking
— work to make Fivetran AI efficient at agent scale, where unit costs deflate as volume grows and context retrieval is fast, accurate, and cost-controlled.
We emphasize using no-nonsense tools and take great pride in the simplicity and effectiveness of the systems we build. Our back-end is built on Java, Python, Postgres, and Kubernetes, and our front-end is built on React and TypeScript.
This is a full-time hybrid position based out of our New York, NY office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.
Technologies You’ll Use
Python, Java, SQL, dbt, LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini), vector databases, BigQuery / Snowflake / Databricks, MCP protocol, React, TypeScript, Kubernetes
What You’ll Do
Research emerging techniques in retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI, and evaluate what’s actually relevant to Fivetran AI’s roadmap
Prototype new ideas quickly, then take the ones that prove out and turn them into shipped, production-grade features
Build and maintain both back-end and front-end systems for the Fivetran AI product — from Agents Schema pipelines to the Context Catalog UI
Contribute to the AISQL capability: natural language to SQL grounded in dbt metric definitions, executed natively against the warehouse
Take ownership of production reliability: on-call rotation, incident response, and SRE work to keep the platform trustworthy at scale
Write and maintain tests, and do hands-on QA to catch issues before customers do
Use coding agents to automate the repetitive parts of the job, freeing up time for the research and design work that needs a human
Partner with product and design, bringing your own understanding of the AI tooling market to shape what gets built next
Develop software designs and contribute to the technical roadmap for the Fivetran AI platform
Contribute to hiring by participating in the interview process
Skills We’re Looking For
5+ years of programming experience across Python and/or Java, with the ability to move fluidly between back-end and front-end work
Considered a trusted expert in your subject area, capable of executing complex, ambiguous tasks with minimal hand-holding
Comfortable reading AI/ML research and turning promising findings into working prototypes
Strong product and market awareness — able to judge which emerging techniques are worth building versus which are hype
Experience with SQL and data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar)
Genuine willingness to work across the full stack: research, backend, frontend, SRE, and QA, as the team’s needs demand
Writes well-structured, performant code and can dive into unfamiliar codebases to suggest improvements
Experience using coding agents or similar AI tooling to speed up day-to-day engineering work
Analytical mindset to identify gaps in existing systems and design practical, pragmatic improvements
Thrives in a startup-like environment with shifting priorities and a high degree of ownership
Bonus Skills
Experience with LLM-powered applications — RAG pipelines, embeddings, evaluation frameworks, or agent frameworks
Familiarity with semantic layers — dbt, LookML, Sigma, or similar
Experience with the MCP (Model Context Protocol) ecosystem or building AI agent integrations
Background in site reliability engineering — monitoring, alerting, incident response
Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or building data connectors
Experienced working in a cloud environment utilizing AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker
Contributions to open source AI or data projects
