Hi, I’m Paul, VP of Engineering at
Customer.io
. We’re looking for experienced backend engineers who care deeply about reliability, performance, and scalability. You’ll design, build, and evolve the systems that power communication at massive scale - while helping us push the boundaries of what great engineering can look like.
About
Customer.io
Over 9,000 companies - from scrappy startups to global brands - use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive.
We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data. Under the hood: Go, React, Ember and AI help us ship fast and scale with confidence.
What We Value
Ownership
You own problems end to end. You move fast, act like an owner, and thrive in ambiguity. You've led complex projects before, whether officially or not, and you're ready to do it again.
Engineers with product taste
You think like a user, not just an engineer. You care how your systems power real customer value - and how to make them better.
A healthy skepticism for “the way things are done.”
You bring rigor and creativity. Best practices matter - but never more than forward motion.
What You’ll Do
Design and build distributed systems in Go that help customers send timely, relevant messages at scale
Collaborate across teams to debug issues and deliver reliable solutions
Own problems end to end - from architecture and schema design to testing, deployment, and monitoring
Participate in an on-call rotation as required, supporting the reliability of the systems you build
Share knowledge and raise the bar through sharing your progress publicly with short videos, thoughtful writing, and mentorship
Use AI agents to make multi-file changes by scoping the work, writing the prompt, and verifying the output
What we're looking for
7+ years of experience building scalable, distributed systems in Go (or similar statically typed languages)
Comfort working in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP)
Familiarity with relational databases (we use MySQL) and an understanding of performance tradeoffs
Experience with observability tooling and operating production systems
A bias for action over perfection, and pride in owning technical decisions
Compensation & Benefits
We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment. In addition to base salary, this role includes an equity grant in the form of stock options, so you share in the success you help build.

100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family

LEAP Program Description
Global Solutions Ventures (GSV) – a joint-venture partnership between ZemiTek, LLC and Dexis Consulting Group – is implementing the Long-term Exceptional Technical Assistance Project (LEAP Global), a mechanism originally used by USAID to battle against infectious diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, and pandemic influenza. As of July 1, 2025, LEAP Global transitioned to the U.S. Department of State (DOS). This initiative aims to address the complex human resource challenges faced by national infectious disease programs in the USA-supported countries.
The intervention of this project is to hire and embed technical expert advisors and subject matter experts within government entities. By directly embedding the technical expertise within the national programs, LEAP provides long-term, sustainable lifesaving support to empower host governments to lead and manage key aspects of their infectious disease portfolios and improve coordination between the U.S. Government and the host country.
About the Position
The Supply Chain Technical Advisor is a U.S. Government (USG)–funded position that will be seconded to the Government of Botswana’s Transition Management Unit (TMU). The Advisor will support the Government of Botswana in carrying out life-saving humanitarian assistance (LHA) service delivery in full alignment with the new Presidential Executive Order (EO) directives. The Advisor will provide high-level technical guidance to the Botswana Ministry of Health (MOH) including NAHPA and CMS and Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs (MLGTA) on strengthening national healthcare supply chain systems in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Governments of Botswana and the United States. The Advisor will work day‑to‑day alongside Botswana government staff as a core member of the TMU to strengthen Botswana’s capacity to plan, finance, manage, and sustain healthcare commodities and supply chain functions, to ensure consistent, efficient, accountable, and transparent delivery of medicines and medical supplies. The Advisor will help ensure the successful implementation of Botswana’s strategies to achieve a cost-effective, resilient, and well‑functioning supply chain that supports lifesaving HIV service delivery and advances Botswana’s path to self‑reliance, in alignment with U.S. Government global health policy and the MOU. The Advisor will also work directly with the Department of State foreign assistance team to guide USG investments in supply chain and procurement and will serve as a key liaison between the Department of State, the U.S. interagency, the Botswana Government, international organizations, and donor agencies to ensure coordinated and effective program delivery.
The Supply Chain Technical Advisor will support the Botswana‑based USG Health Assistance / foreign assistance team, the Ministry of Health, CMS, NAHPA, and the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs to plan, coordinate, and oversee the strengthening of the national healthcare supply chain. Working alongside government counterparts within the TMU, the Advisor will lead and inform the development of strategic guidance to strengthen Botswana’s capacity to manage and sustain HIV and other priority healthcare commodities ; improve forecasting and supply planning, strengthen real-time monitoring of stock levels including stock management and quantification; lower procurement costs, including through pooled or coordinated procurement where appropriate; and better integrate donor‑funded supply chain activities into national systems and programming. The Advisor will help ensure the implementation of cost‑effective, sustainable, lifesaving HIV service delivery in alignment with the MOU between the Governments of Botswana and the United States and U.S. Government global health priorities.
Overall Objective of Assignment
The Supply Chain Technical Advisor will serve as a senior technical advisor in strategic planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of supply chain and procurement aspects of Botswana’s HIV/AIDS portfolio, within an integrated health systems approach. The Advisor will function as a primary subject matter expert on health supply chain and procurement for both the TMU and the Department of State foreign assistance team. The Advisor will lead and support policy, strategic, and technical engagements on supply chain and procurement with the MOH, MLGTA, the National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency (NAHPA), CMS, the TMU, and the U.S. Government interagency, as well as with international and bilateral organizations and other donor agencies, to address technical issues and coordinate efforts to strengthen HIV/AIDS and broader health supply chains. Work may include serving as a Program/Project Manager for targeted interventions; providing high‑level technical assistance to Botswana counterparts in the development and implementation of policies, strategic plans, and operational guidance; and advising the Department of State on the design, prioritization, and course‑correction of USG investments in supply chain and procurement. Proven track record leading frontend for products with DAU 1M+ in high-concurrency, high-availability environments
Demonstrated experience driving cross-team collaboration and standard adoption through technical influence rather than organizational authority

About the Role
We're looking for a technical lead who can own the frontend across OKX's core crypto business verticals. You'll be deeply involved in the full frontend delivery lifecycle across Trading, Web3, Payment, and beyond — not just writing code, but helping teams and products find the right direction, make the right calls, and execute with speed and precision.
This role demands the rigor of an engineer, the strategic thinking of a product manager, and the market instincts of a crypto practitioner. You don't need to carry a full-stack title, but you must genuinely understand frontend, have enough backend fluency to hold your own in architecture discussions, and — above all — understand the business.
Core Responsibilities
Business & Team Leadership
Own the overall frontend team across core business verticals including Trading and Payment, covering hiring, development, and pipeline building. Partner effectively with Product, Backend, Security, and Compliance — driving cross-functional outcomes through technical judgment, not just execution.
Product Delivery & Technical Execution
Lead technical design and delivery for core business features including trading system frontend experience, wallet and asset management, AI-powered trading products, payment gateway integrations, and KYC/AML frontend implementation. Stay deeply sensitive to business metrics and user experience, making sound trade-offs between speed and quality.
Product & Engineering Thinking in the AI Era
Demonstrate deep understanding of how AI is reshaping product paradigms — changing user expectations, product form factors, and R&D efficiency. Integrate AI into product decisions and design, not merely as a productivity tool.
Technical Judgment & Standard-Setting
Drive tech stack alignment and evolution. Proactively identify and address technical risk. Establish high engineering quality standards in complex crypto security contexts — private key security, frontend attack prevention, compliance auditing, and more.
Cross-Team Influence
Build dual technical and business influence at the company level. Communicate technical value and business judgment clearly to engineers, product managers, and senior leadership alike. Participate in industry engagements to attract high-potential talent who are genuinely passionate about crypto.
Requirements
Baseline
Bachelor's degree or above in CS or related field; 10+ years of engineering experience including 5+ years managing technical teams; solid full-stack capabilities with frontend depth
Deep command of core frontend technologies (React/Vue internals, engineering toolchains, performance optimization, cross-platform solutions), with enough backend and API fluency to drive substantive technical discussions
Proven track record leading frontend for products with DAU 1M+ in high-concurrency, high-availability environments
Demonstrated experience driving cross-team collaboration and standard adoption through technical influence rather than organizational authority
Industry Background (Partial Core)
(Core)
Genuine understanding of and enthusiasm for crypto — familiar with CEX/DEX trading mechanics, Web3 wallet and signing mechanisms, and mainstream payment gateway ecosystems
Experience owning frontend delivery for trading, fintech, payments, or crypto products; comfortable navigating the tensions between compliance, security, and user experience
Familiarity with the Web3 frontend ecosystem (ethers.js / wagmi / viem, WalletConnect, EVM contract interactions, etc.)
Global product experience — understands the complexity of multi-language, multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction compliance requirements
Engineering Competencies for the AI Era (Core)
Deep understanding of how AI is reshaping product design; can integrate AI into product decisions rather than treating it purely as a development accelerator
Strong ability to model and frame complex problems; defines the right problem boundaries and system abstractions before reaching for solutions
Proven ability to constrain, guide, and evaluate AI outputs — decomposing complex engineering requirements into AI-executable task sequences
Experience establishing team-level AI working patterns; familiar with and having practiced AI Spec-Driven Development
Maintains high standards for code quality and system design integrity alongside — not despite — AI-assisted development
Soft Skills (Core)
Strong ownership: treats team goals as personal goals — proactive, accountable, clears obstacles without being asked
Sound judgment: makes high-quality decisions under incomplete information — decisive and accountable
Execution muscle: makes things actually land, not just live in decks and proposals
Fast learner: thrives in a fast-moving industry; rapidly absorbs new technologies, business dynamics, and regulatory shifts and converts them into team action
Bilingual: fluent English for technical discussions, documentation, and international collaboration (written and verbal at working proficiency)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a VP of AI Strategy & Transformation — a hands-on technical leader who combines deep AI expertise with the strategic vision and executive influence to drive AI adoption across every business unit. This is not a research role or a traditional engineering management position. We need someone who has personally built and shipped production AI systems, understands the frontier of foundation models and agentic AI, and can translate that expertise into company-wide transformation.
The ideal candidate is, first and foremost, a deeply technical AI practitioner — someone who has architected and deployed AI systems at scale, and who can channel that credibility into driving AI adoption across every function of the organization. Not a theorist, not a people-manager-only — a builder-leader who ships and who makes others ship.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Company AI Strategy & Transformation
Own the company’s AI roadmap end-to-end — from foundation model selection to business-unit-specific deployment plans:
Define and continuously refine the enterprise AI strategy, aligning it to revenue goals, product differentiation, and operational efficiency targets.
Conduct rigorous build-vs-buy-vs-partner analysis for foundation models, AI tooling, inference infrastructure, and data platforms.
Establish an AI governance framework covering model risk, data privacy, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
Serve as the primary AI advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team; translate frontier AI developments into actionable business implications.
Build and maintain a rolling 6/12/24-month AI transformation roadmap with clear milestones, investment thresholds, and go/no-go decision points.
Identify and evaluate strategic AI acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities.
2. System Building & Technical Execution
Architect and deliver production-grade AI systems that create measurable business impact — not just prototypes:
Lead the architecture of LLM-powered applications including RAG systems, agentic workflows, fine-tuning pipelines, and prompt engineering frameworks at enterprise scale.
Design and implement AI-native infrastructure: model serving, automated evaluation, A/B testing frameworks, version control for prompts and models, and continuous monitoring for quality and drift.
Build and optimize AI agent systems, multi-model orchestration, tool-use chains, and autonomous workflow engines that solve real business problems end-to-end.
Build robust evaluation and benchmarking systems for AI outputs — measuring hallucination rates, task completion accuracy, latency, safety, and end-user satisfaction.
Personally prototype and review critical AI system designs; maintain hands-on technical credibility with the engineering team.
3. Organizational AI Enablement & Adoption
Drive AI adoption across every business unit — making AI a core competency for the entire organization, not just the engineering team:
Design and execute a company-wide AI literacy program segmented by role: executive leadership, product managers, engineers, operations, customer-facing teams, and support functions.
Create internal AI tooling, templates, and playbooks that make it radically easy for every business unit to leverage AI capabilities (prompt libraries, no-code/low-code AI interfaces, internal copilots, AI-assisted workflows).
Establish an AI Center of Excellence that serves as the hub for best practices, reusable components, and cross-functional AI project incubation.
Implement a structured AI use-case intake and prioritization process: partner with each business unit to identify high-ROI AI opportunities, scope them properly, and execute with embedded AI support.
Build an AI talent strategy: define hiring profiles for AI engineers and applied AI roles, design technical interview processes, and develop retention programs for top AI talent.
Foster a culture of responsible AI experimentation: psychological safety to try and fail fast, coupled with rigorous post-mortems and knowledge sharing across BUs.
What We Look For In You
10+ years in AI / deep learning, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director+ or equivalent at a top-tier tech company, high-growth startup, or leading AI lab).
Demonstrated track record of shipping production AI systems that directly impacted business outcomes at scale (revenue, engagement, efficiency).
Deep expertise across the modern AI stack: large language models, transformer architectures, RAG, fine-tuning, RLHF/DPO, prompt engineering, and agentic AI frameworks.
Strong publication record, open-source contributions, or recognized thought leadership in the AI community (conference talks, technical blog posts, courses, or widely-adopted tools).
Exceptional communication skills: ability to present complex technical concepts to board-level audiences and translate business needs into technical specifications.
Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Nice to Haves
Experience in fintech, crypto/blockchain, or regulated industries with complex compliance requirements.
Hands-on experience building AI-native products in consumer-facing, high-throughput environments (millions of daily active users).
Track record of driving company-wide AI adoption initiatives — not just team-level, but organization-wide cultural and process transformation.
Experience building or contributing to open-source AI tools, frameworks, or educational content adopted by the broader community.
Familiarity with AI regulatory landscapes across multiple jurisdictions (US, EU AI Act, APAC frameworks).
Published author or recognized educator in AI (books, widely-read technical blogs, MOOCs, or workshops).

Benefits
Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development

Perks &
Benefits
Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development
Various team building programs and company events
Wellness and meal allowances
Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
More that we love to tell you along the process!

The Opportunity
The
Research, Analytics & Data Science (RAD)
team turns insight into action. We uncover customer, product, and business insights and translate them into tools and decision systems embedded directly into GTM workflows.
AI has unlocked an entirely new generation of internal tools for our GTM teams. We’re evolving from static dashboards to LLM and agent-powered workflows that
do
the work: auto-researching accounts, summarizing prior interactions, drafting personalized outreach, flagging renewal risk, and assembling decks and docs - enabling Sales and Success to focus on high-value conversations.
The RAD team partners closely with GTM Systems to define problems, solutions, and measure impact - from prototype to production.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is energized by solving complex real-world problems, and is motivated by seeing their work translate into tangible business impact.
What You’ll Do
Design, evaluate, and ship AI-powered internal tools
for GTM use cases - including account research & summaries, next-best-action recommendations, renewal propensity, pipeline risk detection, QBR/autobrief generation, and post-call summarization & follow-ups.
Work end-to-end:
Own the full lifecycle, from problem definition and data modeling to building production-ready tools, including writing Python backends and React frontends.
Prototype fast, ship to learn:
Rapidly build with users, then productionize quickly to iterate and deliver impact.
Instrument for adoption and outcomes:
Define success through real usage and measurable business impact (e.g., improved win rate, conversion, expansion).
Evangelize and enable:
Document playbooks, run enablement sessions, and help leaders operationalize new tooling across teams.
What You Bring
Proven track record of applied data science with measurable GTM impact - you’ve shipped models or tools that moved metrics like conversion, cycle time, or retention.
LLM/ML application experience - familiarity with RAG, prompt and tool design, vector search, evals and have leveraged AI for development.
Excellent SQL skills and fluency in Python or R, with experience applying analytical and statistical methods to business problems.
Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., DBT, Airflow) for deploying reliable data workflows.
Strong communication and empathy - ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborative
product mindset
- comfort working closely with Sales and Success teams to turn ambiguity into clear deliverables.
