ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for an experienced EEE Parts Engineer to join us on a contract basis, owning parts engineering across one or more hardware programs for the duration of the engagement. In this role, you will work with Electrical Engineers to select and qualify parts for new designs, with Quality Engineers to define screening, inspection, and test requirements, and with Supply Chain to select and monitor part suppliers. You will build and maintain parts lists and screening plans, review contractual and customer requirements for parts impacts, shepherd nonstandard parts through internal and customer approval processes, and support root-cause investigations when parts fail during test. This role requires both deep technical knowledge of EEE parts and the collaboration skills to work effectively across engineering, quality, and program disciplines.
This is a contract position with a defined period of performance. Contract duration and any extension options will be discussed during the hiring process.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
•
Parts Selection & Screening Plans:
Develop and maintain the program's parts selection and screening plan, defining acceptable part classes, screening levels, and qualification requirements for EEE parts used in the design.
•
Parts List & Baseline Management:
Build and maintain a master parts list (preferred/approved parts list) tracking manufacturer, part number, screening level, qualification status, and approved alternates for every part used, including obsolescence and lifecycle tracking.
•
Requirements Flow-down:
Review statements of work, specifications, and contractual documents to identify EEE parts requirements, and flow those requirements down to design teams and suppliers alongside viable alternative part solutions.
•
Supply Source Selection:
Support evaluation of component manufacturers and distributors for quality, reliability, and supply-chain integrity, including authorized distribution and anti-counterfeiting controls.
•
Nonstandard Part Approval:
Prepare and submit nonstandard part approval data packages (qualification data, manufacturer reliability data, process-change evaluations), and present/defend them to an internal or customer parts control board.
•
Part Qualification & Test Data Review:
Review incoming part test data and qualification reports against program requirements, including oversight of Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) lot-sample teardowns and Prohibited/Restricted Materials Analysis (PMA) dispositions.
•
Failure Analysis & Corrective Action:
Support investigation of EEE parts that fail incoming screening, board-level test, or system-level test; interface with failure analysis labs to determine root cause and drive corrective action.
•
Obsolescence & Advisory Monitoring:
Monitor industry alert/advisory systems (e.g., GIDEP) for notices affecting parts used on the program, and assess and disposition the impact on existing designs, inventory, and in-process procurements.
•
Cost & Schedule Support:
Estimate and track the cost and schedule impact of parts screening, qualification, and procurement activities, and support proposal efforts with EEE parts cost, risk, and schedule inputs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, with approximately 5 years of applicable industry experience (or a Master's degree with approximately 3 years).
•
EEE Parts Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of EEE parts, including hermetic devices and plastic encapsulated devices, and the industry standards and military specifications that govern them.
•
Screening & Qualification Standards:
Familiarity with MIL-STD-883 and MIL-STD-750 (test methods) and MIL-PRF-38534/-38535/-19500 (hybrid, integrated circuit, and semiconductor device specifications).
•
DPA & Failure Analysis:
Experience with or working knowledge of Destructive Physical Analysis (MIL-STD-1580) and interfacing with part failure analysis labs to support root-cause investigations.
•
Communication:
Ability to produce clear, concise written and verbal technical reports for engineering teams, management, and customers.
•
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
•

• Familiarity with MIL-PRF-55681, MIL-PRF-55342, and MIL-PRF-55310 (chip capacitor and resistor specifications).
• Experience monitoring and dispositioning GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) alerts and advisories.
• Experience performing or reviewing Prohibited/Restricted Materials Analysis (PMA), including tin-whisker and wire-bond material risk assessment.

About Paired
Paired is a global staffing and recruiting agency that specializes in pairing remote work with top-tier talent!
We are dedicated to connecting talented individuals with remarkable companies in need of their skills. Our goal is to create fulfilling job opportunities for professionals around the world.
The client
Advertising and consultancy services company working with RevOps infrastructure for B2B teams. They build the systems that make growth work.
The founder has reached the point most agency founders reach eventually. Their days are full of client emails, chasing the team, managing delivery risk and keeping projects from slipping. None of it is optional and all of it is in their head. The problem is not only the hours it eats. It is that managing risk and creating growth are opposite modes of thinking, and they cannot do both well in the same week.
They're hiring the person who takes operations off them.
Why this role is part-time, and what it becomes
Right now there genuinely is not forty hours a week of work here. We are coming out of a contraction and back into expansion, and they would rather hire someone part-time and pay them properly than hire full-time and have them sitting idle, which is unfair to both of us.
The plan is that this grows. Part-time now, full-time as the client base expands, then Head of Operations. They're not dangling that vaguely: they'll will set out the milestones, what hitting them does to your compensation, and roughly when they expect each step. You should hold them to it.
What they're asking for in return is commitment. If you take this and a full-time offer appears a month later and you disappear, it damages us. If you are doing one other part-time role alongside this, that is fine and I understand it. What I do not want is someone juggling five clients who gives this one the leftovers. I have seen fractional done badly and I would rather pay for focus.
What you will own
Client and stakeholder management
Be the operational point of contact for our clients, so that I am not
Keep every client informed, handle the back and forth, and escalate to me only what genuinely needs me
We currently run around four clients at once, a mix of large and small projects. Six is the most we have ever carried. As we scale, the model is roughly one project manager per five clients
Project delivery
Own timelines, scope and deliverables across those accounts
Know the status of everything without being asked, and chase it when it slips
Spot delivery risk early and bring me a proposed fix rather than a problem
Team coordination
Keep the team pointed at the right work and hold them to what they committed to
Run the follow-up so that nothing dies in a thread
Revenue operations
Keep our pipeline, CRM and reporting accurate and current
Build and tidy the systems and automations that hold delivery together
Turn what is currently in my head into documented, repeatable process
Requirements
Who this is for
You have done revenue operations or operational project management in an agency or client services environment, and have carried multiple accounts at once
You are comfortable being the operational face to clients. This is a stakeholder-facing role, not a back-office one
Excellent written English. We work with international clients and are moving into the US market
You are organised to the point of being slightly annoying about it, and you follow through without being chased
You can work independently. There is no operations team to lean on. For a while, you are it
You want this to grow into something bigger, and you are willing to commit while it does
Who this is not for
You are a fractional operator running five clients and this would be number six
You want a purely strategic seat. For now this is hands-on: emails, trackers, chasing, process writing
You need a manager checking your work
You are looking for full-time immediately and would leave the moment one appeared
Benefits
Part-time, remote, on a contractor basis. We will agree the weekly hours and the working pattern together, but you will need reliable overlap with Barcelona for client calls and with the team. If you are in Latin America, your mornings cover our afternoons, which works well, and it positions us for the US clients we are moving towards.
Growth path for full-time and Head of Operations role
Compensation for part-time up to USD1.5k/month
What success looks like
The founder stops being the person clients email first
Projects land on their dates, and when they will not, they hear it early with a plan attached
Our operations run on documented process rather than on my memory
The founder spends his weeks on expansion instead of firefighting
