About the role
We are seeking a Financial Controller to take full ownership of VALD's day to day finance function across all group entities. You will join a strong, capable finance team already in place, and your role is to manage, mentor and empower them to take the function to the next level. You will oversee the monthly close, consolidation, audit, tax compliance, treasury and transactional finance.
This is a hands on leadership role in a fast growing, multi-entity, multi-currency SAAS business. You will coach the team, build their technical and commercial capability, and create the structure, processes and controls that let them scale with the business. You will also own the control environment and act as the first point of contact for finance matters across the business. Success means a confident, high performing team delivering accurate, on time numbers that the executive team trusts, with minimal escalation.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong CA/CPA with an audit background and several years in an industry controller or senior finance role, ideally in technology or subscription businesses. You will have a genuine track record of developing people and raising a team's performance. Experience with NetSuite, mergers and acquisitions, international tax and multi-jurisdiction groups is highly regarded. You will be a team player with a can do attitude, comfortable moving between hands on tasks, detailed review and big picture process design.
What will you do?

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close across all group entities, delivering to an agreed close calendar.
• Oversee multi-entity consolidation, intercompany reconciliations and eliminations, and foreign currency translation.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed and supported each month.

• Coordinate external tax advisors and maintain transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements.
• Monitor sales tax nexus and indirect tax obligations as the business expands into new markets.
Controls, systems and process improvement
• Design, document and maintain a scalable internal control framework, including delegations of authority.
• Act as finance system owner for NetSuite and connected tools, driving automation and ERP enhancements.
• Integrate acquired businesses into VALD's finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Continuously improve close efficiency, data quality and reporting turnaround.
Team leadership and business partnering
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, setting clear priorities and standards.
• Act as the day to day finance contact for the business, resolving queries without escalation.
• Provide actuals, data and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting and strategic projects led by the Head of Finance.
Skills, Experience and Competencies
Technical skills and knowledge
• Strong working knowledge of AASBs; US GAAP experience highly regarded.
• Proven ownership of month end close and consolidation for a multi-entity, multi-currency group.
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition for subscription arrangements.
• Working knowledge of Australian and international tax compliance, including indirect taxes and R&D incentives.
• Experience designing and operating internal controls in a growing business.

• CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent).
• 8+ years' experience, including at least 2 years in commercial roles.
• Audit background (Big 4 or mid-tier) highly regarded.
• Technology, SAAS or hardware enabled subscription experience an advantage.
• Hands on NetSuite experience strongly preferred; system administration or implementation experience a bonus.
• Exposure to acquisitions and post acquisition integration desirable.

About the role
BridgeAthletic
is the training prescription platform behind thousands of strength & conditioning programs from collegiate athletics, pro teams, military, and private performance facilities.
As part of VALD, we're building a closed loop in athlete management, bringing measurement, training prescription, and adaptation closer together.
This role owns BridgeAthletic's nutrition experience end to end: the workflows coaches use to create and deliver nutrition guidance and to track their athletes' compliance and progress, plus the athlete-side experience of logging meals in the app. You'll work closely with engineering, design and other teams to take ideas from problem to shipped product.
In this role, you will
Own projects from start to finish.
You write the requirements, run the rhythm with engineering, manage scope in-flight, and keep projects moving through to release.
Turn problems into solutions.
The roadmap will give you the problem and priority. You'll work out the right solution, think through edge cases and trade-offs, and make sure the final product works in the real world.
Own launches.
Make sure releases are ready, documentation and internal teams are prepared, and measure what happens after launch. Shipping is only the start; we care about whether people use what we build.
Help shape the roadmap.
Analyze user feedback and usage data to recommend what we should build next.
Learn the domain.
Build a strong understanding of strength & conditioning and how coaches actually work day to day.
Is this you?
1
+ years in project management or similar role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
, with the ability to communicate requirements, decisions and ideas in a way that teams can easily understand.
Strong execution skills
, with a track record of keeping projects moving, spotting risks early and raising issues before they become problems.
Attention to detail
, with a focus on thinking through edge cases before they reach QA or customers.
A data-driven approach
, using product data to inform decisions and questioning the numbers when something doesn't look right.
Strong prioritisation and collaboration skills
, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep teams aligned.
Genuine curiosity about the domain
, with an interest in understanding how coaches work and why, even if you don't have a strength & conditioning background today.
A growth mindset
aligned with VALD’s culture of continuous learning and development.
Nice to have: a background in nutrition, coaching, or competitive athletics.
We recognize that not all applicants will have the skills that match a job description exactly. VALD's best asset is not our technology, but our people and culture. We choose people based on how well we think they will work in the VALD team.
If you’re passionate about building impactful products and want to be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

VALD
is the world leader in technology for the allied health industry, providing innovative human-measurement technology to over 10,000 clients in over 100 countries. If you have a favorite team in the NBA, EPL, or NFL, there's a good chance they use VALD Technologies.
Years on from its humble beginnings in Brisbane, Australia, VALD has grown to a team of over 300 team members in over 30 countries, with five offices across four continents.
Driven by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, sports scientists, designers, developers and engineers, VALD’s suite of systems offer unparalleled insight into human movement, performance, injury risk and rehabilitation.
About the role
VALD is building the world’s largest musculoskeletal database, with over two billion data points and counting. Using this data, we can help practitioners to objectively assess patients’ progress and make more accurate, data-informed treatment decisions. We are looking for someone who has hybrid experience in data engineering and data analysis to help shape the future of the VALD Data Lakehouse.
In this role, you will
Build agentic capabilities:
design and ship production agent workflows, including orchestration, tool calling, MCP servers, skills and context management.
Ground AI in data:
build retrieval, search and data-querying capabilities across our data platforms, including Snowflake Cortex and Databricks.
Own quality in production:
design and evolve evaluation, monitor quality, feedback, cost and latency, and make improvements to accuracy and robustness
Build in safety and security:
implement guardrails that keep responses within agreed scope, and ensure each customer's data and context stay securely isolated.
Ship through automation:
deploy AI components through version-controlled pipelines, promoted consistently across environments and regions.
Integrate across teams:
work with data engineering, platform and deployment teams to bring AI capabilities into the VALD product suite.
Shape what gets built:
influence architecture and product decisions, and proactively find ways to improve robustness.
Is this you?
This is a hands-on engineering role for builders, not a research or manual testing position. You don't need every tool on this page. We'd rather hear about one difficult AI system you've built to solve a business problem and maintained in operation, rather than a long list of technologies you've used. We're chasing:
Strong software engineering skills
in modern languages, with the depth to own what you build through deployment and operation.
A record of shipping
LLM-powered or agentic products through to production.
Hands-on experience evaluating AI systems
and using the results to drive decisions.
Practical experience
with retrieval, tool use and agent design.
A clear communicator
who can explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Beneficial experience:
Azure
MCPs
AI in health and regulated environments
