Location: London, United Kingdom
Workplace: hybrid
About The Role:
We're looking for a Lead/Head of Transaction Monitoring (Enterprise) to own how Paysend detects suspicious activity across all products, corridors and payment methods, and to lead the TM Enterprise Program that modernises it.
Objective and Key Results
Objective (Q4 2026):
AI-Powered Enterprise Financial Crime: build scalable, risk-based transaction monitoring
Enterprise clients can submit legitimate transactions with minimal friction, suspicious transactions are correctly identified and declined, unnecessary RFIs are minimised, and transaction-monitoring performance is measurable and continuously optimised.
Metrics clearly separate client-generated risk, Financial Crime controls and downstream payout execution, so TM declines are not confused with prefunding, network or technical failures, and stages reconcile without double-counting.
Key Results you will be accountable for
% Confirmed Fraud Rate of Enterprise-Initiated Transactions:
Confirmed fraud transactions divided by total enterprise-initiated transactions, broken down by client, typology, transaction type and destination, and confirmed vs. suspected fraud. Gives clients an evidence-based view of the quality of the volume they submit.
% Legitimate Transaction Straight-Through Processing Rate:
Legitimate transactions processed without an RFI divided by total legitimate transactions submitted. The central measure of balance between risk protection and customer friction.
% Enterprise TM Decision Quality:
Combines confirmed-fraud prevention rate (stopped before payout), false-positive rate, and control coverage of material enterprise TM risks by documented, approved and tested controls.
% Enterprise TM Investigation Efficiency:
Median RFI time to resolution, % resolved within SLA, % with a clear documented decision, % outstanding beyond SLA, and RFI backlog and ageing.
What you will own
KRs and Initiatives:
Own and deliver the Enterprise TM KRs and Initiatives, from definition and prioritisation through delivery, measurement and reporting to senior leadership.
TM Enterprise Program:
Lead the TM Enterprise Program end to end: scope, roadmap, milestones, budget, dependencies, risks and governance.
TM framework:
Own the enterprise-wide TM framework: scenario and rule coverage, thresholds, risk-based calibration, model governance and the rule lifecycle (design, test, tune, retire).
Effectiveness and KPIs:
Own the KPI and MI framework for detection effectiveness, alert quality, false positives, SAR/STR conversion, alert volumes, SLAs and team productivity.
Regulatory assurance:
Ensure TM meets AML/CTF and regulatory expectations across all licensed jurisdictions, and own TM readiness for audits, regulator reviews and partner due diligence.
Team leadership:
Build, lead and develop a high-performing TM team spanning analysts, rule owners and data/automation specialists.
What you'll do
Define strategy and OKRs:
Set the enterprise TM strategy and multi-year roadmap, aligned to company OKRs and Paysend's financial crime risk appetite; translate it into measurable KRs and a prioritised initiative portfolio.
Drive delivery:
Lead initiative delivery as accountable owner: run planning, steering committees and status reporting; remove blockers, manage trade-offs and escalate material risks early.
Strengthen detection:
Oversee translation of typologies, risk assessments and regulatory change into detection scenarios and rules; ensure backtesting, simulation and impact measurement happen before release.
Optimise performance:
Drive tuning using alert, case and SAR feedback to improve catch rate and reduce noise, with clear trade-off thinking across risk, cost and customer friction.
Automate and scale:
Replace manual analysis and reporting with scalable pipelines and self-serve dashboards; apply advanced analytics and ML-based anomaly detection where they add value.
Collaborate:
Partner across the business:
Product and Engineering:
requirements, data needs, TM platform and rules-engine enhancements.
Compliance and MLRO:
policy alignment, risk assessments, regulatory reporting, audits and regulator engagement.
Network and Partners:
Visa and Mastercard program requirements, thresholds and monitoring; bank and partner due diligence.
Operations and Investigations:
alert-handling workflow, feedback loops, capacity and quality.
Data and Analytics:
data quality, lineage, model validation and reporting.
Govern and report:
Run the TM governance cadence: rule-change approvals, performance reviews, documented decisions and rationale, and regular reporting to senior management and committees.
Stay ahead of regulation:
Stay current on AML/CTF regulation, FATF guidance, PSD2/SCA and card scheme rules, and embed changes into controls and the roadmap.
Manage vendors and budget:
Manage vendor, tooling and budget for TM platforms, data sources and analytics.
What you'll need
Substantial experience in transaction monitoring and AML/financial crime, ideally in fintech, payments, money transfer or high-volume B2C, including leading a TM function or a large TM transformation.
Proven track record owning OKRs/KRs and delivering multi-stream programs or initiatives, with strong planning, prioritisation and senior stakeholder management.
Deep knowledge of TM scenario and rule design, tuning, threshold calibration, model governance and effectiveness testing, including backtesting and below-the-line testing.
Strong understanding of AML/CTF regulation and expectations (e.g., FCA, EU AMLD/AMLR, FATF) and experience supporting regulator and auditor reviews across multiple jurisdictions.
Solid grasp of fraud and financial crime typologies in cross-border payments, and awareness of emerging trends.
Working knowledge of Visa and Mastercard monitoring programs and payment methods (cards, tokenization, Apple Pay, Google Pay, A2A, wallets).
Data fluency: able to interrogate SQL/BI outputs, define KPIs and challenge analytical approaches; understanding of modern data platforms and automation.
Experience leading and developing teams, including hiring, coaching and building clear ownership models.
Ownership mindset: you spot problems, propose solutions and see them through without waiting to be asked.
Clear communication and documentation, able to explain risk and data-driven decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
Nice to have
Experience with rules engines, decisioning platforms or TM vendor solutions (selection, implementation, migration).
Experience applying advanced anomaly detection (statistical, unsupervised or machine learning) to AML and fraud use cases, including model risk management.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for forward-thinking, high-performing AI Engineers who are excited to pioneer the future of AI-driven engineering at Paysend. In this role, you will work hands-on with Claude Code and the Anthropic API to design, harden, and ship agentic systems that write, review, test, and deploy code. This is a high-impact, build-and-own opportunity: you will take cutting-edge AI prototypes and turn them into resilient production infrastructure - directly empowering our global engineering teams, accelerating our product velocity, and helping us solidify Paysend as the definitive end-to-end payment infrastructure for the modern world.
THE ENGINEERING PROBLEM
The problem is not to make an LLM generate code. The problem is to make AI-assisted and agentic software delivery reliable enough to become part of normal engineering work.
These systems operate inside real software delivery workflows. They need to deal with incomplete context, failed execution, incorrect assumptions, external dependencies, changing repository state, and cases where an agent should not continue on its own. This means designing clear execution boundaries, decision points, observability, recovery and escalation paths, not only the agent behaviour itself.
The role includes shaping how these systems work, not only implementing integrations with existing AI tools.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design end-to-end AI-assisted delivery workflows, including agent responsibilities, execution boundaries, decision points, human intervention, failure handling, recovery, and escalation
Design and refine AI-driven pipelines that automate coding, code review, testing, and deployment tasks
Build and optimise agentic workflows using Claude Code and the Anthropic API, including custom tooling, MCP server integrations, sub-agents, and stateful orchestration logic
Engineer robust prompts, benchmark suites, and automated eval datasets; measure and improve pipeline accuracy, latency, and API costs
Define workflow-specific success criteria and operational evidence, including correctness, reliability, intervention and escalation rates, failure modes, and recovery effectiveness
Integrate core Anthropic capabilities (tool use, structured outputs, prompt caching, batch processing) into internal developer platforms
Handle unglamorous production work: sandboxed execution, strict error handling, retries, observability, guardrails, and edge cases
Own these systems after initial implementation: observe how they behave in real engineering workflows, investigate failures and incorrect behaviour, and improve the system based on operational evidence
Partner with engineers across the org to identify automation opportunities and roll out agentic tools safely with human-in-the-loop review mechanisms
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Strong software engineering background, with experience designing, building, and operating production systems, and strong hands-on experience with Python or TypeScript
Ability to decompose end-to-end engineering workflows, identify decision boundaries, failure modes, dependencies, observability needs, and recovery paths
Direct, hands-on experience with Claude Code—you've used it beyond casual experimentation and understand its strengths, limits, and configuration (CLAUDE.md, sub-agents, hooks)
Experience building with LLM APIs: prompt engineering, tool/function calling, structured outputs, context window optimization, agentic loops, and evaluation
Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integration and custom workflows
Comfort turning prototypes into production systems: CI/CD integration, containerized execution, reliability engineering, and monitoring
Pragmatic judgment about where AI automation helps and where traditional deterministic logic or human oversight is required
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with agent orchestration frameworks or building custom agent harnesses/tooling
Track record shipping internal developer platforms or CLI tooling
Contributions to open-source AI frameworks, developer tools, or MCP servers

Deputise for the Deputy Financial Controller on defined workstreams and support ad-hoc technical projects directed by the Deputy Financial Controller, the Group Financial Controller, or Group Finance Director
Leadership & Ownership
Provide technical guidance and review to more junior team members, supporting their development and the quality of their output
Work independently on ambiguous or complex problems, structuring your own approach and bringing solutions rather than questions
Relentlessly drive efficiency and automation in day-to-day practices, reducing time spent on repetitive and administrative tasks without sacrificing quality.
Work with the team to meet agreed service levels and deadlines, and fulfil additional duties as the business requires
Supporting Accounts Payable
Support approval of regular payment runs by the AP team.

Location: Beograd, Serbia
Workplace: hybrid
About The Role:
At
Paysend
, our
products handle millions of money movements across markets
, where reliability and accuracy are critical. Behind every transaction is a complex set of systems and processes that need to work exactly as expected.
We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our
web and mobile products.
You will test real-world customer scenarios across multiple platforms and services, investigating issues across
APIs, microservices, databases, and asynchronous processes
to understand what happens at every step.
We are looking for someone who combines
strong testing fundamentals with technical curiosity and a practical understanding
of how complex products work.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Functional, regression and acceptance testing of user scenarios across web, iOS and Android.
Testing money flows: transfers, card top-up/withdraw, FX and rates, tariffs, limits, fees, bonuses and referrals.
Testing onboarding and KYC, including the integration with our verification provider (Sumsub).
Testing payment and authentication integrations: 3DS/SCA, Google Pay, Apple Pay, OTP and passcode.
API testing (REST/gRPC): inspecting requests, responses and traces, validating contracts and error handling.
Testing interaction between microservices: asynchronous scenarios, events in queues, idempotency, retries and degradation paths.
Verifying state in the database: transaction and process statuses, balances, profile data.
Requirements analysis and participation in grooming: reviewing user stories, raising questions about design and logic early, assessing risk.
Designing and maintaining test cases and test plans, tracking defects in Jira, taking part in release checks.
Preparing test data and working with test environments.
Mentoring junior colleagues and helping evolve QA practices and processes in the team.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:
6+ years in manual testing, a meaningful part of it in fintech, banking, payments or another product that moves money.
Experience testing a single product across web and mobile (iOS/Android), with a good grasp of cross-device and responsive specifics.
Experience with and understanding of testing microservice-based applications: how to test a service in isolation and in combination, where to look for the root cause of a failure, what an asynchronous scenario is and why it breaks.
Hands-on experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar): reading and publishing messages, verifying events within a scenario.
Practical API testing: Postman/Insomnia or equivalents, working with REST, reading logs and traces; gRPC is a plus.
Confident SQL at the level of queries and joins (PostgreSQL or a similar database).
Basic programming skills in any language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.) — enough to write a script, read someone else's code and prepare test data.
Experience using AI tools to optimise and automate day-to-day work: generating and reviewing test cases, analysing logs, preparing data, speeding up routine tasks.
Experience with a test management system (Allure TestOps or similar) and Jira, and the ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports with enough context for a developer.
Confident use of browser dev tools and a debugging proxy for network inspection (Charles, Proxyman, Fiddler).
Systems thinking: the ability to decompose a scenario and find edge and negative cases, not just walk the happy path.
English at a level that supports fluent working communication in a distributed team.
Nice To Have:
Domain knowledge: the payment lifecycle, transaction statuses, currency conversion, fees and limits, KYC/AML requirements as they show up in the user journey.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform
An understanding of how E2E automation works (Playwright, visual regression) and the ability to shape manual coverage so that it complements it.
Experience with server-driven UI or configuration-driven scenarios.
