Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities: — Build and scale the internal Payments engine handling payments for Delivery Hero globally. — Ensure reliable checkout and low payment failures across markets. — Focus on core payment features managing lifecycle of payment flows ensuring consistency and reliability. — Design, build, and deliver scalable software systems used in over 70 countries with secure coding practices. — Lead backend engineering efforts focusing on distributed systems using Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit. — Drive architectural decisions applying design patterns, SOLID principles, and Domain-Driven Design. — Own services end-to-end with a "you build it, you run it" mindset including infrastructure automation and continuous deployment. — Define and apply testing strategies across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end levels. — Diagnose and resolve complex production issues in multi-region distributed microservices. — Promote reliability, on-call, and observability best practices. — Mentor teammates and promote engineering best practices. Requirements: — Proven experience designing and delivering software systems in complex global business domains, preferably fintech or payments. — Deep backend engineering expertise with preference for distributed systems. — Hands-on experience with Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit. — Strong engineering ownership mindset with passion for automation, CI/CD, and reliability. — Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity for complex challenges. — High standards for quality, performance, and attention to detail. — Nice to have: experience in payments, wallet, or anti-fraud domains. — Nice to have: experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka. — Nice to have: experience mentoring other engineers.
