Director of Brand (d/f/m)

Location: Berlin Workplace: Hybrid OUR STORY: Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound confidence. Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix and Steuerbot, is a compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts, developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016. THE OPPORTUNITY:   Taxfix does not have a dedicated brand owner at group level today. We need someone who can set brand strategy for the group, hold the organisation to it, and personally run the work that brings it to life. This is not a strategist role with execution handed off to others. This is also not a job purely about ATL campaigns. You will cover a broad set of responsibilities in a hands on way, with a small team around you. You will have a very large amount of influence on the direction of our services and need to be comfortable working with product and marketing teams. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - Brand strategy and positioning for the group across product, marketing, operations. Strategy is kept current as the market and the business change. - Brand in the product, partnering with product and product marketing so brand shows up consistently in onboarding, in-product moments and lifecycle messaging. - Product vision contributions including a brand perspective for roadmap and product strategy conversations. - ATL strategy, planned and produced together with the in-house creative studio. - End-to-end ATL campaigns, run autonomously from brief through concept, production, media and measurement. - Brand research, initiated and run on your own initiative, so positioning and creative decisions rest on real customer and market data. - Brand accountability, holding every team that touches the customer to our brand values, positioning and look & feel. - Brand systems: The context, guidelines, examples that are consumed by AI agents by the rest of the company so they can be on-brand. YOUR PROFILE - You feel like the following applies to you: You have high standards and can switch off your ego, you have high agency, you followup & follow through, you are a self-starter, you improve yourself proactively, you want to learn, you are an excellent communicator across very diverse groups of people, you are analytical and can explain both your logic and your intuition. If most of these do not apply to you then you will not enjoy this role. If most do and you are not sure: Apply. - 5+ years in brand, hands-on - you've made and run projects yourself, not just briefed people who did. - A strong, current read on the market and category, with a record of turning that into decisions, built through real partnership with product and marketing as a peer - German, native or fully fluent, comfortable working in English - Built for a small team, self-directed, and you do a large share of the work yourself rather than only directing it. - Direct and candid, with strong opinions loosely held, you say what you think, back it with reasoning, and change your mind when the evidence says so, without needing to be right - You have interest in service design and how services provided by people and software come together in delightful user experiences. - Sharp creative judgment and comfortable using AI across your workflow - research, drafting, production, with craft and taste always leading, never replaced by the tool; you know how AI is reshaping brand work and use it to get more out of a small team, not just to work faster - A balance of rigor (data, measurement) with instinct, customer empathy and creative taste, earned somewhere you had to prove brand's value to product and performance teams, not just brand peers WHY TAXFIX?  - A chance to do meaningful, people-centric work with an international team of passionate professionals. - Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions. - A monthly allowance to spend on an extensive range of services that you can use and roll over as flexibly as you like. - Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create. - 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours. - A generous learning budget to support your personal and professional development and guidance from our internal L&D experts. - Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip. - Plenty of opportunities to socialise as a team. In addition to internal meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible. - Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions. - Have a four-legged friend in your life? We’re happy to have dogs join us in the office. Excited? So are we.
