Location: Valencia Workplace: OnSite ROLE HIGHLIGHTS - Satellite Systems, Software Verification Team Lead - Location: Valencia, Spain - Department: Global Manufacturing Organisation - Reports to: Maite Manager - Employment type: Permanent - Workplace model: Office - Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required) ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for an Satellite Systems, Software Verification Team Lead to own the final verification of our satellites, the stage where an integrated spacecraft is proven to work. Once a satellite has been integrated, your team takes over. You’ll lead satellite-level functional and end-to-end checkout, onboard software loading and validation, and RF testing in our anechoic chamber, with a team of 5 technicians across systems, software and RF. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll spend real time with your team at the satellite, troubleshooting, unblocking issues and improving how we test. ICEYE is scaling satellite production fast, so you’ll also build the processes, tools and KPIs that let verification keep pace without compromising quality. We’re looking for a strong electronics engineer who is comfortable with software and enjoys leading people. Space experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you’ve led hands-on electronics testing in a demanding industry such as aerospace, defence, automotive or power electronics, we’ll help you learn the space-specific parts.   Who We Are ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.   ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.   ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.   Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES Leading Satellite Verification - Own satellite-level verification after integration: functional and end-to-end system checkout - Prove that all onboard systems (power, avionics, software, RF) perform reliably in full configuration - Be hands-on: lead troubleshooting, isolate faults, unblock issues and keep momentum Owning Software in Verification - Own onboard software loading, validation and checkout during production verification - Maintain and improve test scripts, test automation and software-supported verification flows - Work with AIT Engineering on software-related issues, telling software faults apart from hardware faults Overseeing RF Testing - Make sure RF testing of the satellite in the anechoic chamber is planned, executed and reported to standard, working with the RF specialists in your team - Keep RF test benches and chamber setups maintained, calibrated and compliant Quality, Traceability & Compliance - Plan, execute and report system-level functional tests and inspections - Maintain configuration control, build discipline and full traceability - Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace quality standards such as ECSS - Identify key non-conformances, escalate critical issues and drive resolution of the most impactful ones, supporting root cause analysis led by AIT Engineering Building Scalable, Repeatable Processes - Develop work instructions, test procedures and checklists with AIT Engineering and Quality - Turn unclear inputs into clear, usable processes and reduce tribal knowledge - Increase throughput and reduce rework while protecting quality Leading & Developing the Team - Lead, coach and grow a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians - Build a culture of ownership, accountability and pride in the product - Teach structured fault diagnosis and test best practices Working Across Teams - Be the bridge between verification and engineering (systems, software, RF, AIT) - Collaborate with Quality, Planning, Supply Chain and the two other production teams (Integration/Mechanical & Thermal; Electronics) - Prepare verification for higher volumes; define and track KPIs WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You don’t need to tick every box. If you have most of the must-haves and the role excites you, we’d like to hear from you. Must-haves - A degree in electronics, telecommunications or electrical engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience - Hands-on experience testing, validating or verifying complex electronic systems, at unit or system level - Working software knowledge: scripting (ideally Python), loading and configuring software on hardware, version and configuration control - Experience leading or coordinating a technical team in a hands-on environment - Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings and test procedures - Clear communication with engineers, technicians and stakeholders, in fluent English Nice-to-haves - Experience in space, aerospace, defence or another high-reliability industry - RF test experience (spectrum or network analysers, signal generators, anechoic chambers) - Familiarity with ECSS, NASA-STD or similar standards (such as DO-178C, ISO 26262 or EN 50128) - Test automation frameworks (such as TestStand, LabVIEW or pytest) - Experience scaling a test or production process - Spanish [move to must-haves if Maite confirms it’s required]   WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE - Every satellite is verified reliably, predictably, and to standard before it ships - RF, system, and software verification processes are clear, structured, and scalable - Problems are isolated and solved at the root, not patched - The team takes full ownership of verification quality and traceability - Verification keeps pace with ICEYE's growth   WHY THIS ROLE IS INTERESTING - You own the moment of truth, proving the satellite works end-to-end - You'll bring RF, systems, and software verification together under one scope - You'll shape how verification is done, not just follow existing processes - You'll work at the intersection of engineering and production, where decisions have immediate impact APPLICATION PROCESS - Talent Acquisition Interview - Hiring Manager General Interview - Technical Interview, including a Technical Challenge - Peer & Culture Interview - VP Interview WORKING AT ICEYE At ICEYE, you’ll join a diverse and highly engaged team united by the ambition to make the impossible possible.
